What Happened to YVONNE DE CARLO ( LILY MUNSTER )

hi this is butch Patrick and welcome to alpha eleven this week we're gonna be talking about Yvonne De Carlo major movie star my TV mom is Lily Munster and probably one of the world's what do mean probably she was one of the world's most beautiful woman Margaret Yvonne Middleton was born September 1st 1922 in Vancouver British Columbia when she was two years old her father deserted the home leaving her mother to make a living as a waitress her mother shot potencial and her young daughter and enrolled her in dance and voice lessons when she was just 10 years old soon mother and daughters set off to seek fame in California Margaret changed her name to Yvonne and took her mother's maiden name DeCarlo as her own she started dancing in clubs at night found bit parts and film by day an accomplished horse rider Yvonne also competed in rodeos and won five first prizes for the most beautiful woman on horseback she made her film debut as a bathing beauty in the 1941 film Harvard here I come in 1945 Yvonne was cast in a starring role in solo where she danced she was billed as the most beautiful woman in the world and she was soon cast in numerous films starring opposite Hollywood's most desirable leading men and gentlemen you must think of some other way to take him from me with her exotic looks Yvonne was often cast as a seductress in westerns or as a femme fatale in the film noir don't mention it you have a way with horses I have a way with sheriff's she also landed several roles in which she showcased her voice and recorded a few albums in 1951 DiCarlo reached what she considered the highlight of her career when she opened the 30th season of the Hollywood Bowl singing the breeches role of Prince Orlowski in five performances of the Opera Die Fledermaus in 1955 she married actor and stuntman Robert Morgan with whom she had two sons in 1955 Yvonne landed one of her most important roles playing sophora the wife of Charlton Heston's Moses in Cecil B DeMille 'he's that Ten Commandments nothing from some is more than gold from others she received positive critical reviews and was offered a role alongside Clark Gable in band of angels because you wondered why I wouldn't marry you I would many if you could have taken the truth about me you'd always hate me there's no place for you here or anywhere the film was a critical and box-office flop in 1962 tragedy struck when her husband lost a leg and was blinded in one eye while doing a stunt on the set of How the West was won the studio assumed no responsibility for the accident forcing DeCarlo and her husband to file a lawsuit which was eventually dismissed the couple were divorced in 1973 with film on furs declining DeCarlo fell on hard times her friend John Wayne helped her land a role in his film McClintock in 1963 now Catherine are you going to believe what you see or what I tell you mrs. McLintock hope you won't misunderstand but in 1964 the car toll and her most famous role but she was cast to play Lily Munster on a new television show called the Munsters whole deal off now we'll lose the prize money oh and we were so looking forward to that vacation cruise on the Dead Sea the sitcom last is the only two seasons but achieved the kind of pop-culture immortality in decades of reruns and movie and television spin-offs go down and scare them off me scare them off how after the Munsters ended the carla found work in too many bad v movies two names including satan's cheerleaders and Russ Meyers as the seven minutes we missed you over at the big hide stranger she also appeared in Stephen Sondheim's Follies on Broadway stopping the show with I'm still here [Music] in 1982 Karla was cast in a film that she felt align better with the level of movies she started during her heyday the man with Bogaerts faced the Karl continued to act in television and film throughout the 80s and 90s but in 1997 tragedy struck again when her oldest son died suddenly at the age of 40 the following year DeCarlo suffered a minor stroke she eventually moved into the motion picture and television country house in hospital in Woodland Hills California where she passed away from heart failure On January 8th 2007 her cremated remains were given to friends [Music] Eddie are you in bed yes but I can't stand wait you'll be able to just lie there with your eyes open dear [Music] you know people are eyes asking me did you keep in touch with the caste and how it works in Hollywood you're together for a short period of time and you're very close and then everybody goes their own way when the show's over and when you're a 12 year old kid they really go away because friend and I went to New York you know you're a kid you go back to school and you never really see him again unless you worked with him for me I didn't see Monte Carlo again until Vickie Lord show wanted me to be a surprise guest for her back in the mid-80s and that was how I basically reconnected with Yvonne De Carlo and after that we became friends and I went up and visited her and we made friends until her passing [Music] well that concludes miss Yvonne De Carlo for this week's story on alpha 11 if you like that you like me come over to my channel where we're going to be doing a lot more cool stuff as well

Well so was a popular movie actor who's stunt actor husband got hurt so she had to take a gig that had a steady paycheck so she had to what people felt at the time lower herself and take a tv job

She had a bit part in Hitchcock’s The Man Who Knew Too Much. Utterly unrecognizable but gorgeous as heck.
