hey guys to T's from the install Bay we're going to talk about these things right here wire ferals you guys ask the questions we're going to answer them so stay [Applause] [Music] tuned so recently we put up one of the full install videos that we like to do on a Toyota Tundra and you guys love the video and we appreciate it uh it's been nothing but positive and we're very thankful for that if you haven't seen it yet we'll put a link to it in the description so that you can go ahead and check it out but regardless of all that one of the most common questions we got over and over again were what were these things that we were putting onto the wire questions like why is there just heat shrink holding these things on um is the heat shrink what holds it how come you didn't crimp them um all kinds of things like that and we I started to respond to him and then I was like you know what it'd be so much easier if I just made a video so what we have here is we're going to talk to you all about ferals why you might want to use them where you can get them the sizes that we use and there again these are just the things we like to use by no means is this the only way to do something if you have a way that you like to do it by all means do it that way it's no big deal uh this is just how we like to do it so let's get started let's take a look at some ferals so ferals come in all different shapes sizes and colors from this guy here this little tiny 18 gauge to something like a 16 gauge to dual 16 gauge 12 gauge dual 12 gauge so like if you have an amp that only has a single input you have eight gauge of course four gauge lots of these and of course zero gauge all right so let's take a look at some wire that has ferals on them so for example this is 18 gauge and it has some of the smaller ferals on them the heat shrink is put on there to hold the feral in place until it's crimped down so 18 gauge here's some 16 gauge speaker wire you have a single and you have a dual this is nice if you have an amplifier that only has one supp over output but you're hooking up two subwoofers you can easily do these you have 12 gauge 12 gauge works the same way you have a single 12 gauge you have a dual 12 gauge and of course power wire you have your eight gauge power wire here your four gauge with a cool five star logo on it and of course the big monster here zero gauge now the zero gauge are really tough to get on because most manufacturers have this thick jacket on here now so you do have to put little slits inside of this so that it will slide over the rubber so looking at a piece of standard car audio wire you can see it's all these little tiny little tiny wires that are in here this is a piece of for gauge to give you an idea of what we're talking about so the problem that you run into is that you you you twist these all together like this and now you're going to shove this into an amplifier and of course the amplifier is going to do it's going to crush it so what a far will do will allow you to slide it over the wire like this and keep all that wire contained inside of a sleeve so now when we go to crush it down in the amplifier all these little tiny wires stay real tight next to one another so when you go to put the wire in the amplifier you got to get this bundle inside of this hole so you got to sit there and you got to keep twisting this otherwise what'll happen is these little wires are going to fray out to the left or right so you do a good job getting that in there and now you're going to tighten it down now as this turns of course it's tearing all those little tiny wires because they're all by themselves they don't have friends let's go ahead and take it out take a look at it so this is what you end up with now if you ever have to reinstall this of course these are going to break and whatnot you can see the wires fattened out you know now you got to squeeze it back down to reinsert it into the amplifier and there again hopefully not get any wires to fray out which of course it wants to do so we'll go ahead and keep twisting all right oh oh see now see this is what I'm talking about all these little wires here okay so let's not let's move on to the feral all right so we have the feral let's go ahead and slide it in obviously as you can see there's not a chance of any of this fraying let's go ahead and tighten it down so it's a much cleaner looking install let's take it out you'll notice it's a lot harder to get out because it's conformed itself to the inside of this okay so now we have it out now you notice it has a similar indention to the other wires but it's all nice and tight so let's take a look at the end of the feral similar to what a crimp would do it keeps all these little tiny wires all nice and tight inside so that they're not going to break off or you know go crazy like hair all over the place so now if we have to reinsert in the amplifier it'll easily just slide back up in and of course it's an amazingly tight install because there again the frail is shaped itself to the inside of this hole right here now of course it works the same for thin wire if you try to stick this little tiny remote turn on into this big hole well yeah you know well you could do the cool little little Bend here in the wire where you bend it over and then you stick it up in there possibly put some solder in here but it's way easier just to take this little feral here slide it over the wire there again the heat shrink is just to keep it in place um this this will insulate it now you can slide it up into the amplifier like so tighten it down nice tight and all those little tiny wires now are contained inside that feral so they're not going to spread out inside side of this hole and you know where you have maybe one or two little tiny threads of copper touching this bolt all the wires are touching it inside the feral on these little tiny thin wires like this I wouldn't use the feral twice uh this is more or less a once and done kind of thing it will keep all the wire nice and tight but if you have to reuse it sometimes depending on the amp they'll break so if you take just this little 18 gauge and stick it inside the amp chances are good it's going to rip most of these in half so this is what that wire is going to look like as you can see the it's almost ready to snap in half so and of course it's spread out a little bit so this amp only has a single sub output cuz it's a five channel but we're going to be running a box that has two speaker cups so so now what we can use we can use the Dual feral this allows us to put two pieces of wire inside of one feral so now we have four wires and a two wire spot so then there's the next part of the equation where do I get these things well that's pretty simple go here www.fire.com you can pick up all the different ferals you need simply click on to their website go to the ferals page scroll down and you'll notice there's all different colors and model numbers and sizes so what we're going to do is we're going to give you the ones that we order so for example the most popular of course is the for gauge the four gauge that we use is the ad25 0016 next up is going to be the eight gauge the eight gauge is the a w1015 if you're one of those guys that feels you need some zero gauge no problem that's an ad500 six this little 18 gauge guy if you want some of these bad boys here those are the ad 1 0 012 real popular are the 16 gauge the single 16 16 gauge is the aw4 0012 and then the duel is the tww 412 and last but not least 16 gauge the single is the aw6 0012 followed by the tww 60014 all right guys so now you know everything there is to know about ferals how exciting well as a disclaimer ferals direct is not sponsoring us we just buy from them like everybody else we of course just wanted to answer all the questions you guys had about them you guys can pick these things up they're relatively inexpensive uh they come in bags of 100 so you'll have plenty for all your friends cars and your friends friends Cars so there's no problem there um let's wrap this thing up and take it home if you guys like these videos please subscribe we greatly appreciate it we appreciate everything you guys do you guys out there are great and we love it share it with friend all that other fun stuff oh and don't forget Monday nights we do a Facebook live at 6:30 Eastern Standard Time so if you have questions you can ask us live on the the Facebooks otherwise you guys can find us on Instagram and of course right here on YouTube you guys have a great night and we will see you later next time bye
