good morning good morning this is part two of us building out here in the woods in the last video we got the base done today we're going to start working on getting all of our floor joists done and hopefully gets the decking up all right we're gonna have these sticking out over two feet is the plan so I got it marked on this side it's Square it up laughs all right once we get everything all figured out we're going to secure everything a lot better but we're just kind of toenailing everything for now then we'll get the layout we'll put some brackets on once this is all squared off and everything is good to go for now we just need to kind of work it all together and make everything fit and then we'll go back and get it all perfect [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] foreign let's put a string on the front and then we'll get the these ones all laid out and then we can do the back ones after stretch all the way up and then I'll clamp it [Music] foreign [Music] get rained out I don't know but the sun was just over two seconds ago yeah we're getting like little glimpses of sun and now just got really dreary and like a little bit of a more of a chilly Breeze and all the leaves are turned inside out which is usually a sign of rain maybe you can hold off a little bit foreign [Music] good yes [Music] all right I only brought up 12 yesterday we're gonna run down and get the rest of them and then we can get this finished off okay well that was kind of a tight fit through some trees not like super tight but it was close so the other one's a 16 feet long that we need to bring in I wonder how that'll go because these are 12 Footers I had to stop back there no I'm talking about coming up the trails a few spots I might just have to go cook to get through but that works so much better than putting them on the roof of the mule all right we want to make sure this is nice and square before we go too crazy okay so we are 20 feet right on the money okay pull your end in towards me some nope back out back out um right there foreign here comes the rain it's all right now [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] so I'm gonna go ahead and put some brackets on all these boards and then do it to the other side make everything stronger held together good [Music] all right now that I did my first one the restaurant should be a lot easier I just want to make sure they're all the way up and then push back to the board the first time I did it I just had a little bit down [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] all right 95 inches [Music] thank you I want to go down that end and just hold it up like right there [Music] thank you all right we need to get the 16 foot two by sixes into the site I'm gonna see if I can get under with the forks and pick them up worst case scenario we're gonna have to load them on but I'm hoping I can kind of get down under maybe take about half that bundle foreign sliding part of the bundle forward now unfortunately my wheel wells are in the way so I can't get a good Center pick on them are you going down uh go up for a couple of them and then we'll go down all right this is going to be the interesting part is we got to get up ahead through the trees and we have 16 foot wide long pieces of lumber so we might have to do some jigging and jagging to get through everything oh foreign [Music] that was a little tight I had a shift over all the two by sixes to one side because stuff they weren't all evenly spaced getting by those two birch trees that were kind of like spaced evenly so we couldn't jig and Jag but it went well we'll have to just remember to make sure all of our two by sixes are flushed up on the ends and we can get through just barely but we can make it thank you so we're going to be using two by sixes for our decking we didn't go with the five quarter or one inch thick boards for decking because it's actually five dollars aboard cheaper to go with two by sixes versus the inch thick stuff so this is going to be a little bit more rugged than it needs to be but it's better than going skinnier so we need to get our first board put up here going the long way and then we can stop putting our decking on we're pretty committed raining it's coming down pretty good it's a little chilly rain hopefully it'll slow down a little bit but we're gonna get a belt so there's a couple of areas where it was pretty close I mean we had probably maybe six inches to spare between two trees and they're almost identically apart from each other so besides that we just had a kind of jig and Jag and we had room to do that but that was last two sets of trees the last one set of trees they were kind of like this so we know we can make it it just takes a little bit of work or a chainsaw nah we want to keep the trees if we can oh ready yep okay come up with it up up keep going up quite a bit keep going keep going okay down right up right there up okay up [Music] so we're going to put them tight because they're wet so when they dry there'll be a gap right another reason to put the wheat fabric so that hopefully the if you have a gap so that way if it rains it falls through right so this one we're gonna we'll get up and we'll flip over I think we want this on the bottom ready flip it okay so now slide it to you come out a little bit this way we want a little bit of ah probably keep it flush something like that we'll probably have to work it so I right now have an inch and an eighth overhang I am guessing five inches okay because I would like to have an inch and at least an inch and a half on that side uh I was going to say four keep going right there so I'd go with an inch and a half overhang we'll keep this end true they're all flushed and then later on we'll just run a chalk line and cut that end nice and even because they're not all the same lengths so do you want to try to go flush on this you want a little bit of an overhang let's go a little over okay like an inch or half an inch half inch okay [Music] fresh moose tracks right where we shoveled yesterday well it's all over the place it was nice there for a little bit so let's flip it and see what it looks like that's good [Music] foreign [Music] oh man no bounce yet [Music] [Music] definitely you can feel the weight I got it in low range four-wheel drive and I'm thinking that should do it oh and pass this one get in and then we'll come back over [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] people [Music] I should probably move my drill [Music] [Music] oh fish ah that make a little boo-boo a little bit not too bad so now if we just push these over and Center them up and then kind of restack them maybe I think we'll be good that's not too bad I'll buff out it sounded worse than it is I couldn't hear anything it is a little hairy going up and trying to get by all these trees because it's not flat you go like this and you come back up and you go back down camera's got to flatten it out but you go down you go divot and then you come up out of the divot and then you keep climbing and that's where all the trees are so makes it interesting makes it fun too so I like the challenge this will be the last load of 16 Footers and that should do it foreign [Music] a mud hole also oops back up it's too busy paying attention to the side not the tree all right now we can come back over and stop lining it up for the trees get past this one and then now cut it over hard oh I gotta back up a whisker [Music] now cut it over hard come on come on there we go a little scrapage but it'll get it through all right there we go we got it we got it we got it now we're good that did it [Music] was a little bit of an adventure getting this stuff up here but it beats hauling them in by hand that's for sure these things are heavy I have like a love hate relationship with pressure treated lumber that's for sure so now we can continue going that way we should have enough by my calculations it should be pretty much just enough to do it all and he saved that little cute white birch a little times I thought it's coming down it's got a couple of scuff marks it already has scuff marks well it's got It's got scuff marks that we put on it now now it has a few extra scuff marks but it's still there it's still there it was hanging you up yep I mean but it was that's got to be like 16 feet wide right there I bet you if you measure those two trees you can measure and they're at an angle so you got to get past one I think it's an ash tree on the right you kind of got to get past that one and then you got to do this and then I notice that you lowered or higher too so then well the hard part is you that one's in the mud hole dip so you're coming right out of the dip you got a bank on the right so you got to make sure your Fork's high enough so you don't hit the bank so you got to be up high and then you got to do this and then this and lower it so we got it you know Tim did a good job the first time I watched I held my breath a second time I'm like he's got this that was a time where it was a little bit extra close I thought like I don't know I was gonna make it and he did so all this rain is making the boards extra heavy but this is gonna be one nice rugged deck I don't know if the moves are going to appreciate it being in it their way but they can they'll be able to come up here and dance on if they really wanted to [Music] go ah what is that right foreign [Applause] that rate is coming down good I just had to stop I put the drill bit through my finger not like the screw but the hex head drippled part of the screw of the let me show you this part right here that went through my finger almost I would say probably to the Bone it hurt we got it cleaned up we got the Band-Aid on it so now I'm just waiting for that rain to stop a little bit get back out there and finish it up I'd say we got about two-thirds of the board's put down and then we gotta screw them all down so we're just going around and getting the edges and getting all held in place so that way once we get the decking up we can just go up and just hammer out and strewing instead of trying to get in there and jump between each joist and screw every boy down so I was thinking the rain was stopping but I don't know now all right a lot more would you look at that the birds are chirping and it stopped raining at least for a little while hopefully we can get the rest of the boards put down and then get up there and get it all screwed down before it starts downpouring again but that is looking nice it is gonna be so nice to have this platform up here and then to be on top of that the worst part about winter camping this year was the snow on the ground and we had our wood stove going it would melt the snow because we couldn't get it all shoveled off and then you'd have your divots your high and you were low and nothing was smooth so to be able to be raised up off of the snow and have a flat platform it's going to be great for winter camping and then for camping when it's raining like this will be high and dry I'll have to figure out how we want to do our wood stove up here but yeah it's coming along nicely we're going to have a big deck area and a porch so yeah I can't wait to get this part finished then we can move on with the next steps we gotta figure out our stairs and the only reason why I wanted to do elevated is so in the winter time if we get a bunch of snow we don't have to worry about the snow caving in we'll have the height off the ground so if we get a bunch of snow the deck should still be fairly elevated [Music] [Applause] [Music] I'm gonna snap some chalk line so we can go around and start screwing down all of our boards and that'll get everything nice and tight when everything starts to dry out it's going to be sucked down so thanks [Music] all right well the deck was nice and dried off I was able to snap chalk lines and get half the deck screwed down and it started to rain again and it is a pool so hopefully it'll dry out soon so I can snap some more chalk lines get the last I think I've only got like a third left to screw down but while we wait for that get this last board on I didn't put on it first because I want to be able to see my choices so we can make sure all of our chalk lines are right man I was so hoping we'd get everything screwed down before that rain came back that sun came out for a few minutes and it really dried everything out soaked up all the water but now not so lucky [Music] thank you [Music] this is what we're going to call it for this video this is part two there'll be a part three finishing this up we got a little bit more to screw down we gotta make some stairs and then we got the structure and hopefully we'll be sleeping in the next video too that is the plan weather permitting that we can get everything done the rain didn't come in today we would have got a lot more done but we got quite a bit done considering how much rain we got so I am excited about that so this is where we're gonna end it we'll see you guys in part three thanks for coming along at our home sitting Journey you're a huge blessing to us in our Homestead and we'll see you right back here in the next video bye
