Hello everyone! I thought I'd introduce myself. My name is James. I'm your poor farmer from Kansas US of A, the heart of the United States. I acquired this farm about a year ago, inherited actually. I grew up on this farm and made a full turn and now I'm back trying to raise cattle. So bear with me I'm new to this YouTube thing so hopefully I can make some interesting videos for you. I'm out here this evening to feed the calves some cubes and the cows some cubes. Trying to get these guy little guys here fattened up so I can sell part of sell part of them, the steers anyway. My folks didn't believe in spending any more money then they had to, so they would buy cubes in bulk, put in the truck, shovel it all out into these barrels. Well, that's a little more work than I like to do so I bought this cube feeder last year which makes things a whole lot easier. The little bucket here is for the
bull. He likes to have a little treat. I've got 14 steers and heifers. I got a full bucket here for the cows,
and 3/4 of bucket for the heifers and steers, and a little bucket for the
bull here. As you can probably hear in the background they're all whining
thinking they need fed right now! Here's my bull. He's ready for his cubes. He's kind of a pet when he's got his cubes!
He won't let you touch him otherwise. So we'll go out here and give the cows some cubes. The steers and heifers are having a little bit of a hard time getting to the center of the bale. Probably put another bale over here on this other side in this other bunk. Got the tank filling. Usually takes about an hour, hour and a half to fill it up each every other day. Here's my cows. What do you think cows? Hey cows. What do you think cows? You ready for your cubes? Huh? You ready for your cubes cows? You gotta watch these guys. Sometimes they'll try to kick you. They get a little over-excited when you're giving them cubes. Here we go! Usually try to get a little count on
them. Make sure they're all here. Cows got plenty of hay. They got most
of a bale there, maybe half a bale over there. Got a fence down here, that's in need of some better patching. I've already had to patch it twice cause a cow keeps trying to get out cause there's a little bit of green grass growing over here in this other patch.
And the fence ain't so good on the other side of a shed over there that goes to the road so don't want them out there till I get that fixed. The more you feed these things the tamer they get. You feed them in the trough and they just seem to get tamer every day. Kind of getting a little feisty there aren't you? Aren't you? Got the the white tags are the steers and the blue tags are the heifers. Oh I got my heifers and steers a bale of hay so they are content. Here's my buddy. So I think I'm gonna end that video right there. Hopefully I can come up with some better content. Make some videos that interest people and thanks for watching!
