many other options in terms of practicality it's over 300 feet tall and forms the shape of a unit cell of an iron crystal scaled up 165 billion times inside the tubes are stairs escalators and elevators that take visitors from ball to ball the highest one is a restaurant from which you can look out over all of brussels number 15. kansas city public library known by locos simply as the in montreal canada designed by israeli-canadian architect moshi softi it was built for the 1967 world's fair softie has said that the initial models of the project were built using lego bricks and subsequent iterations were also built with lego bricks this isn't too surprising since the whole thing really does look like something a kid would build with legos but unlike legos people really do live in this building number 13. nautilus house nautilus house located near mexico city is a shell-shaped house that's considered an example of bio architecture it was designed by javier senossian and inspired by frank lloyd wright a famous american architect who believed that buildings should be in harmony with the natural environment the house was named after the shells of the nautilus cephalopod and was built using ferro cement and a frame of steel enforced chicken wire this method allowed for the natural curves and the lack of load-bearing walls or columns number 12 house attack house attack was an architectural installation in vienna austria and yeah unfortunately i have to use the past tense here as house attack no longer exists it was created by artist erwin worm as a publicity stunt architecture and i think it clearly accomplished this number 11. cube houses the cube houses or kuba swaningan and dutch are a set of houses in rotterdam and hellman in the netherlands designed by focus on science exhibits around the united states the company slogan is let your imagination run wild which the designer of these buildings terry o nicholson clearly did wonder works buildings are commonly built to look as if they're upside down the reason for this and the wonderworks lore is that there was a whimsical professor whose top-secret research lab in the bermuda triangle got hit by a tornado it scattered his buildings all over the country hopefully they didn't crush anyone wizard of oz style number seven the longaberger company headquarters this seven-story 180 000 square foot building was originally the actual corporate headquarters for the longaberger company an american manufacturer and distributor of handcrafted maple wood baskets the handles weigh almost 150 tons and have to be heated during cold weather to avoid ice damage the original plan created by founder dave longaberger was for every single one of their office buildings to be shaped like a basket but this is the only one they actually made probably because they realized that it's way harder to make a building shaped like a giant basket the building has become a well-known landmark in ohio and an often cited example of novelty architecture number six the amazing flying house this real house located near sarzana italy can move up and down rotate 360 degrees and move along rails it was built by one person who lived in it with his wife for seven years apparently the goal of all this was so that he could move the house so that the sun would always be in the right place a less creative person probably would have just gone outside if they wanted to get more sun or something but then of course we wouldn't have this unique house number five the whole house the whole house unfortunately only
