Wedging A small tree Method #2 safest method

[Music] hi and welcome to norcal timber faller the channel that is both educational and entertaining my name is dan leeper and today i'm going to show you a method for wedging a small tree this is method number two and let's get started so here we have what is a common problem a tree that is just very slightly leaning and if i if i were to put the back cut in first and then put the face cut in i could very well run into the problem of the tree coming forward as i have my saw on the face cut pinching my saw barber cherry and all sorts of stuff so this method i'm going to show you is a safe method for a tree that you're unsure of and it's just the most safe method for getting a small tree down without having that happen where that that tree comes over forward as you're taking that face cut out so let's get started i'm gonna get you guys all comfortable up here just a second okay so just like just like the other method we're gonna do the back cut first but we're gonna do a little bit differently we're only gonna cut part way in [Applause] okay half or three quarters into that tree with the tip of your bar but you won't do the same thing you want to sight it in just like you would a normal tree now put your wedge in just like i showed you on the other method let me show you this though so now we're going to take the face out but we still got a quarter chunk here and that's to prevent anything from happening as far as that tree going forward [Applause] okay face cuts out now we're just gonna come around to this side and finish this cut with try not to cut into your wedge if you can help it we'll finish bring this cut around and this is definitely the safest way especially if you don't have a lot of experience or anything this is the the way to go with safely cutting these and i still cut into the wedge just a little bit there that happens now it should just wedge right on over there it goes okay so just kind of show you on the stump how that works again i know you probably saw me do it but i'll just show you so you start and you cut in that much leave this little quarter over here put your face cut in make sure you're tapped in real good and finish off over here so there you go that's a method number two
