and there is oil spraying everywhere in the engine compartment big tractor is down spraying oil all over the place any idea where it's coming [Music] from what up T pound it so a quick little update since the last time you guys have seen a video that night we had a bunch of rain and then a couple days later we had more rain so it's been 4 or 5 days since we last planted anything it's finally starting to get dry enough we're going to try and go plant some soybeans today actually the problem is that we have today tomorrow part of tomorrow and then like the rest of the week looks really rainy so we kind of got to push really really hard here but since the last time you guys have have seen me we got our tractor fixed so if you remember uh I actually ended up like steering the tractor last time cuz it didn't have enough power in the cab to run the GPS receivers so we got the new battery cable installed it goes from behind this panel up here in the battery up through here and then it goes back there behind that little black panel right there and then also the steering was pulling left consistently uh we had a mechanic come out he he measured the I think it's like a swash plate or something on these two tracks basically over time this valve or this SW wash play what I think it's a valve this valve can get wore out and it like loses where neutral is so when you let go the steering wheel and you're going straight it'll actually pull One Direction or the other he got that all calibrated and I was having issues with row number seven if row 7 continues to have issues we know it's a wiring harness but because I switch the meter and the belt with row eight if row eight tier so this is actually row eight it says seven if row eight has issues then I know that it is is meter or belt related and then I switched the motor that was on seven with six so if row six has issues it's motor related but if row 10 has issues then it is a row control unit issue so I got it all it's not fixed but I have everything separated so if a row does act up I'll know immediately what is causing that row to act up but because we are switching to soybeans today and the last thing we planted is corn all of these meters are set up for corn and we still have a little bit of corn that's left over in the box so I got to get all these meters switched over uhu which I'll show you the process here in a bit first thing I need to do is I need to dump all the corn out of this planter and into this beautiful whiffles W2 2446 corn bag these exact toerge units are like a feet of agricultural engineering they're amazing units until you need to clean them out and then they're just a piss pour design but I dump all the dirt out of here I got to remember I think this kind of does this I think it goes like that I believe we'll see how much it dump out in the ground I guess yeah I guess that works this would be a much faster job if you had two people um technically I do have tea here but she doesn't have thumbs so do cats have thumbs T I need to investigate a do you how many fingers you guys got here got one no give me your hands one two three four I guess you do have do have five claws there too right yeah but my dad is out field cultivating the first soybean field as we speak and my brother is running the tender truck he's down getting water right now so it's just me and te but like I said what in the heck is so now I got all the seed taken out of all the units what I do is I have this here hole I take all these individual bowls off like this then I put my camera down because I need a free hand I put the bowl on the pole and then you're supposed to store it sideways like this otherwise they can get Warped any these are corn specific bowls that are on it right now um I don't know how well you can see it but every other hole is punched out the soybean bowls are basically the exact same thing except every hole is punched out so I think the cornballs have 32 holes yep and then the the soy ones have 64 because you're planting a higher population um you need more space for seeds to go in the bowls otherwise this thing is spinning way too fast but now before I can put the new bowls on there's there's two things need to do first thing is I need to take this double Eliminator so right now I have on the corn setting which is the the middle setting of these three now you can adjust this up and down um depending on how your your singles and doubles are doing um but this is kind of a piss poor system the fact you need to take the bowl off and lose all the corn out of the the unit before he can do it so basically everybody just leaves it right there because it's just a pain in the butt to change it in the field and this thing at 97 98% singulation is still better than a lot of Planters at 99% singulation but for soybeans press these little two tabs and you bring her all the way down to this bottom Mark like that and now the last thing needs to be done before I put the soybean bowls on is I took all the units off and there is this green strip on the bottom this is called an agitation strip or Rumble strip or whatever you want to call it um so when the bowl spins around this strip is kind of what keeps the corn flowing and and moving and and not getting stuck um so the corn one is green and it has these little bumps on it I don't know if you can hear of my fingers rubbing on it and the soybean ones are yellow and smooth um there are quite a few people that just use the corn ones for soybeans but the problem is that this is it's probably like hard to imagine but a soybean is a lot more abrasive than than a a thing of corn a seed of corn because you look underneath a microscope soybeans are extremely abrasive have an extremely abrasive surface while the corn is a smooth surface so even though the soybeans round and it rolls it's very abrasive and it wears these strips down really fast so there there are some people just leave the corn ones in there and then just replace them every couple years but I do have the proper soybean ones and I myself am not in a big hurry right now because the Digger out in the field fi and we're going have to let it dry a little bit before I can go plant anyway so I'll just flip them all out it's pretty easy process basically there's just three tabs in the back and it pops right off okay now we got these soybean bowls as you can see has 64 holes so there's a hole in every single slot and basically now everything else is in here I just pop these on tighten down this knob right here till it clicks and then I just give her a little spin make sure she's not too tight or too loose that maybe a little bit the tight side but there's quite a bit of vacuum pressure on these so I think it'll be okay okay finally got all that got nice and warm out able to put on my I wore my Minnesota Whiffle shirt this time last time I wore my South Dakota one so come on there we go now I got to empty out the main CCS tanks there should not be much seed left in these things at all so even though this bag is like full it should it should all fit yeah sound effects are necessary oh let's start on this side first okay get this thing full of seed and then once I get a full seed get the tractor filled up and we are like ready to go to the field officially okay line this thing up it's actually kind of hard to see where I need to be from here but I'm guessing about right there so I got all fueled up and got everything St in the monitor basically ready to go and then I got a phone call from my dad saying that uh the big tractor is down the 9570 I mean there's Oil Spring everywhere in the engine compartment so fantastic uh I'm going to go pick them up we're going to look at this thing probably text a mechanic even though it's a Sunday night probably text somebody see if they can come out in the morning I think we're still going to plant here tonight but this is definitely an issue because we only got a couple days before it's going raining again to plant if we can't keep the Digger ahead of the planter and we can't plant um big tractor is down spring oil all over the place so I'm going to go pick Dad up and then we'll bring him back here all right oh no any idea where it's coming from n yeah yeah it's very wet in there green I don't want to get my fingers all greasey I'm some show my nose in it problem is I can't smell I literally smell nothing when I that's why I trying to smell the has a little smell to it I wonder if it isn't right here where right on this whatever this is I tighten it up it wasn't very loose okay because the half this top pipe right here which probably goes to the intercooler or something half the pipe is soaked the top half is fine yeah except you got the fan blowing it it's by the fan it's so hard to tell true but it's like the front half it's like a quarter of the pipe though like it's not you want me to start it up yeah sure I I walked around it with the run I couldn't tell anything okay I wonder if I shouldn't engage the pump or something hydraulically to see if yeah you can do whatever this is going to be loud I can already tell don't see anything on that side right where was it right in here seems to be very wet somewhere really puddling up down here oh if it's trying to see where it's gets it gets really wet here but it's not as wet up here so I must be fin able to see anything that [Music] timeck where am I send a picture at just hope this is like some kind of mean well obviously we don't know what's wrong oil come out of the front of the engine and I don't we got we got on the dealers list I think so hopefully someone comes out right away in the morning but with oil coming out where it's coming out it looks like more than you know an hour fix so I don't know if we're going to have to end up renting a tractor but if we do that then we don't have the saddle tank so we're going to have to start spraying or pre-emerge ahead of the field cultivator for pull behind spray which is fine I guess but it's just I I don't know it's really put a damper on things cuz we were planning on running that thing hard uh to keep ahead of the planter but I mean he has a good share of the field done but by noon tomorrow I could be caught up so not even okay set you guys up right there let's get this thing unfolded okay switch it over to planting mode Let's get that right wing let out no left winglet left winglet there we go okay one last thing I got to do before I start planting is I got to lower the planter two notches like that got corn in there there we go so planting seems to be going good so far I got a prescription map on this field as you can see let's get the whole field in view bam beautiful um simulation looks good population looks good for the fact that this thing is getting like 99 8% simulation on um let see what is my rate right now like 133,000 on soybeans pretty incredible what's also nice is is that this is a perfectly straight fence so I can just straight track it and then this is also my line for the rest of the field too let's see let's see if I hit this fence post I should be really close but I shouldn't hit it beautiful Still Standing love it love rtk best invention ever okay maybe not that far but I really like it okay so next day um I got this field mostly planted but the uh the technician came looked at our 9570 this morning and they actually brought a truck out and they took it to the dealership so we are renting a 9rx something or another and my dad say he's about a mile away so I'm going to hop in and help him get us set up here need the necessary supplies of course there it is a 640 a big dog I think it's been a few years since dad's driven an articulated tractor we'll see how he does here it's not exactly a not exactly a stiger a green stiger to be exact dang first try does this one not have an integrated receiver it does not what's happening with that they they came out bragging about all these integrated receivers and it seems like none of the new tractors have them I got something better here anyways there we go okay I'll name this thing yeah yeah yeah yeah 9rx 640 not that I'll ever hopefully never have to use this one again uh I don't know how to measure a 4 and half on a four-wheel drive machine but I knew need measure the height somehow so I'm feeling ER up here not a fan of where that fuel thing is located that kind of sucks but um so we have shank extensions on the shanks that are behind the tracks of our 9570 however the spacing is a fair amount narrower on the Niner EG so they're moving the shank extensions around so way they get in the right spot so that way right behind the tracks the fuel cultivator will actually dig a little bit deeper than the rest of the fuel cultivator how fast 6 75 see if one more what it does that's about right I was at 11th at 2000 r okay 2,000 RPMs let's it might need all the RPMs uh let's uh how do I do this there we go all right yeah actually speeds are about identical to this is a 23p speeed transmission isn't it it's 18 iidea you drove it here it's got a little knob and go forward and backward I think it's is a 23 I'm pretty sure I could be wrong though maybe just like we were I would another oldo that I have no idea what year was cool there we go I I did not do TCM calibration I'm hoping that I don't really need to do one that it just works good enough without it if we're off a few inches we're off a few inches okay first impressions uh yeah I don't like drivetrain vibration yeah I when you turn you can hear I don't know if it's a cogs or the like drive shafts or whatever but there's a terrible vibration not terrible but noticeable C's quiet I'm very biased against quad track so so if I'm a Believer in by tomorrow then I've been swayed if I'm still have negative old sap then I haven't been I just don't like all the all the extra stuff there's a lot of moving Parts this is a 640 horsepower tractor and we're not able to pull it really any faster than 570 yeah I was actually pulling eight quite a bit with the other one okay yeah so set it down it's about where I was pulling at 73 76 so maybe a little but like for an extra it's about identical 40 50 60 for an extra 70 horsepower they not I mean I wonder I wonder how much each track takes horsepower I bet I bet years ago somebody told to me an ihb with like 30 30 per track 30 something so if you had two of them that's about your 6070 hor yep but that I have no idea that's right the rtk is working good we think I just did I did just do a TCM calibration so when I turn around we'll see how it's doing it is some it is quieter but I think that's part of the new cab the new cab think so loud and it's it's model 55 foot oh no I'm at 30 foot that might be part of the problem I'll stop at the end I'll I I forgot to do that turns out if you set your track spacing for the right distance works a lot better it works yeah yeah I would love to get the Drone out today but it's like 40 m power wins you can take off there and try to catch it people the last video people are like why don't I see a Whipples flag on the planter well because if we've had I don't think we have had a day of wind under 30 mph where we've been planting and there' be nothing left of it by the end of the day so I I'm not even going to try I think last year you made it I said this wind is going to be a problem well we'll see yeah 2 hours later your your flag my flag was gone your flag had flown yeah it was Chris found it on the road with the gator cuz it it snapped actually snapped the the metal holder in hand yeah southern Minnesota the spring wind is just a kind of a thing kind of an everyday deal yep GPS is set up let him at it are these Cog driven I think these are Cog driven I don't know it's you're not going to be able to hear on camera but when you turn these nx's sharp you can hear and feel quite a vibration that's enough running now the most complicated thing is that we're going to have to come back with a sprayer now and sprayer pre-emerge because well we don't have saddle tanks on this Niner X and just like that in like 15 to 20 minutes we planted a soybean field we dang near blew up a tractor and we got a new tractor crazy how how video editing works well I finished up the planting here I'm heading up we're going to go switch it back to Corn so thank you guys for watching I'll see you in the next one [Music]
