remote all week this week and so we are actually heading back to texas sometime today and we will be there until we know what next we're going to do so i i don't know exactly what all of next week looks like but i know who does who does god jesus knows what's going on next week and he's going to let us know uh accordingly so i think that my plan is i believe i will be coming back to louisiana for some extent next week i'm not sure but uh we'll be praying about it and the lord will lead us and i think michelle will probably hold down the fort and if need be we may have some co-hosts with you next week y'all did so well huh i'll get them lined up yeah well you did so well and you and your and your partners did so good uh whenever i was out the week before so praise the lord for that a lot's going a lot is going on so as you know they're the hurricane that hit louisiana we've been working that and now we've had this this big storm that came through texas and we've got a crew working the the box truck is big enough as it is a big old yeah you know it's a full size 28 foot whatever it was uh the old u-haul is what it is box truck standard picture but she's going to drive that home no she ain't no she ain't no um she's gonna drive uh my truck and she's never driven that before it's a four wheeled uh pickup f-250 and it sits up kind of high and it's attached to the trailer with my tractor on it but that's something she's not comfortable with i'm going to put my trailer there's actual ball on the back of the u-haul i'm going to pull my trailer and tractor behind the u-haul so but she will be driving that four-wheel drive and anybody drives a big four-wheel drive i know there's like a little slop in the wheel on those four-wheel drive so uh but she's got this it's not going in the ditch you just stay behind me i can only go so fast and so if you just stay behind me you will be fine but your prayers are appreciated on that all right armando or armando says also and happy on this day in history for throwback thursday on this day last thursday i left louisiana to go back to texas and then we was back uh monday uh we left monday morning so um just a revisit of a trip back to houston again we appreciate your prayers for our travels all right mckenzie said good morning everyone continue doing the lord's will amen thank you william from louisville massachusetts thank you um we will continue to do the lord's will as you will also praise the lord word of the day our word of the day today is where's my button boom bing bing bing see when we get the devotion it's not that kind of fault i know oh you know i still can't wait can't wait i can't wait so when does fall officially start does anybody know 22nd september 22nd you already looked it up so we're not far away from that we're not ah away from that so the thing is that shaking his head i know but in the middle of september usually sometime in the middle of september we'll get our first cool front now no complaints i was sitting out here i know i'm in covington louisiana but i was sitting out there uh this morning uh and it was i had a nice cool breeze coming over me and so i just always try whatever the weather is but really thank god for the weather really i mean especially when it's cooler so if you think about it any anytime throughout the year even if it's still a little hot i always say praise the lord that it's not july or august when it's july and august i'll find some other way to praise the lord but any time it's time to fan yeah yeah yeah inappropriate just kidding okay hey that's the word of the day the word of the day today is all make a note of that as later on in the show we will call for the word of the day and the first six people to respond with the word paul in yeah that way they can still play the game what are we doing ah we're doing a devotion and it is proper for today.org you have it ready do you i do okie dokie today is september the 16th the title is pride and the fall the gold nugget comes from verse 18. pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall okay father we thank you for this day and pray that you would help his father to get everything out of today that you have in store for us i pray that we would not miss the opportunities to serve you well to bring glory to your name to be your hands and feet to serve others i pray father that you would be truly glorified in us today in jesus name amen although a common verse and even quoted by people that do not serve god today's goat nugget is often too popular to benefit from its powerful message after the tragedy of september 11th people cringed at the images that were displayed on our televisions i saw a documentary that explained the numbness that eventually took place and those very images lost their impact for many people familiar familiarity does not always equate to application and effectiveness in similar fashion many who watched the passion of the christ wept upon seeing the horrific images that so intently portrayed our savior's suffering after seeing the movie more than once many that were moved with compassion concerning his suffering had lost their connection with its importance in commissioning communion at the last supper jesus said as often as we do this do this as often as you do this do this in remembrance of me he knew the importance of remembering the suffering that he endured okay and so that part of the devotion my whole objective in writing that some ten years ago was that i wanna put us on guard for letting things become familiar too familiar with us and again coming back to the the the the images of september 11th now here we just have the 20th year uh of the of the september 11th tragedy and and you all remember that were old enough to remember around the the how horrified we were when we were seeing those images of what was happening on the news well once they rolled them on a loop every day every day the more they do that the less the impact over and over and over now i think it's natural but i think that it's the right thing to do to make an attempt to say i don't want this to become i don't want to be numb to that and so my whole point with the first part of that especially some people can become numb to the suffering of christ and again all that i don't want us to be numb to this very important passage and that is today's gold nugget that says what does it say i mean it's pride comes before the fall and we know that pride comes before destruction pride council for destruction and a holy spirit before a fall okay so the scriptures say this a lot it's not just this one verse in proverbs it's several times in proverbs and other places of scripture basically say the same thing and so with that being said it's very important that we don't get to the point where we become numb to this truth and i say that because i believe that we so often fall and we're so prideful which causes the fall right we're so prideful we're too prideful to even acknowledge that we fail i mean and that's this is sad truth and a sad reality is that we need to say i need to walk in humility and i don't think any of us are beyond that matter of fact i mean you know i'm going to pick on my wife here for a moment michelle is has a meek spirit okay i uh have a very outgoing personality i can walk up to a total stranger and just strike up conversation and talk like i've known him all my life i could go up to a group of strangers i think that's not nothing for me to boast about i think it's part of what god designed in me as a pastor minister preacher that i would have that he equipped me for that and so with that obviously i have to be careful as i stand in a pulpit and i stand before people i'm doing it right now talking to people that um i'm not i don't become prideful because sometimes people might say oh that really means something to me or you said something that that touched me or that message you preached really meant something to me so easy for the ego and the flesh to come in and say oh you know i am the guy also you know but everybody has to be on guard for that so even you someone who is meek and like a house wide out you know like like uh said i'm getting out of here before you all start the morning show you know and so um but all of us still have to be careful sometimes sometimes our meekness is really not meekness it's pride under the disguise of meekness and by that i'm saying sometimes we have so much pride that we won't step out and do anything or speak in front of certain people because we might not look good that's still pride i mean it's still pride and so pride can be destructive and cause us to fall sometimes if you're on the other end of that where you're like a really meek person and so you never stand up to do anything you fell in you fell already you just oh you stayed there and so pride not only because before the fall pride will maintain the fall it will keep you down and keep you from stepping out keeping you keep you from doing what god wants you to do and where you have some people who are just very very outgoing personality right yeah i'm sorry i'm just kind of rolling there it looks like you're ready to say you know of course people who have like a a charismatic personality and not a reference to a religious order but you know that outgoing personality um they got to be careful for the pride but it would be it would be a sad thing if people who are are very you know afraid to be out in front of anything uh would say oh that's something for those other people no maybe it's pride that's keeping you where you're at also worried about what people are going to think or yeah what you're going to say yeah isn't it the same thing you're both consumed whether you're a charismatic person how i'm going you're like yeah well it's i guess too it's because it's about you know are you worried about if you say the wrong thing because you're worried if you're telling somebody wrong or you're worried about you're saying the wrong thing because you're gonna look stupid yeah i got you you know what i mean yeah sure and so either way you're overly concerned with what people will think of you that's right overly concerned yeah and you're not gonna like what i say or i don't look like that person so i'm not gonna do as good i don't mind do what god tells like i was you know doing that but god calls me to do stuff like this and he equips me to do it i mean it's not yeah i think that you're doing if i get any word edgewise with you you probably will be able to talk somewhere i'm just kidding but no the the fact that you're doing this show where some people would want to do this show this morning because they want to be seen by people um that is you know it can be private michelle's doing this show out of humility and the reason i say that is because she is paralyzed fear somebody might think something bad of me and i don't want to do or say anything i would just rather sit over here and be quiet where people might look at me and think i'm smart that's an old problem and so but she out of humility says i'm going to put aside my fear of what people might think of me and do this thing that i believe god wants us to do and so uh praise the lord for that praise the lord lord in him and uh so all but all of us do all of us have to deal with this and it would be wrong and we would really miss the vote if we thought somehow this applies to somebody else but isn't that right when you think everything everything applies to somebody not that way yeah i would never do that yeah i mean sometimes a preacher might be standing in the pulpit preaching and the people in the congregation are like amen amen sometimes as a preacher when you're preaching against sin sometimes that's what we do when you're preaching against sin and the church is saying amen you want to say don't say amen say lord forgive me because so many people often times in the church are saying amen with the sac mindset like i know somebody who needs that oh yeah maybe you need that no not maybe not maybe it depends on what the content is but and so many times people hear the preacher and like oh i know who needed to hear that and they don't necessarily really take it for them to hear how often does somebody listen to a sermon and say gosh man that hurt but i needed to hear that you know and uh but that takes that this takes some humility but a prideful individual doesn't see his own fault and he wants to i love that when i go into a sermon or i read a devotion or something and i know i'm struggling with something or i'm going through whatever and god just speaks to me even if it's correction or you know what i mean yeah i love that because i'm like okay thank you you know like i know that i mean he's there and he's listening and he knows and yeah you love that correction not that i haven't sat there and been like oh yeah i know somebody who needs to be sitting here listening she loves the correction as long as it ain't for me i'm kidding a prophet is not without honor in his own country the uh it's a true saying and i've heard this for many preachers and i can be a testament of it too sometimes maybe a a preacher will be preaching on a particular topic and he will get a word from the lord on a given thing and then uh he might even hammer on that for a little bit and then three months later they're watching a preacher on tv that preacher and his wife or they're visiting a church or something like that and that other preacher will say what that preacher had been saying and the wife would be like i never thought of it like that before and you're like i've been saying that for 20 years i can't tell you how many preachers have said that and i've heard that and testify that sometimes when you hear it sometimes you do need to hear from someone somebody else sometimes our children become numb coming back to that become numb to the correction of their parents and their parents can be saying the absolute right thing but sometimes it needs to come from somewhere else and so but our desire is that lord i want to hear truth no matter who it comes from but it's from my parents my spouse the enemy if it's truth i want to receive it so we are in proverbs chapter 16 today do we have any comments to catch up on and no okay all right y'all continue to jump in the comments section though we'll be monitoring it throughout all right in this passage from today's proverb our challenge is to remember and keep alive the power of an old message despite how many times we've heard it many of us take great pride in our strength spiritually and our knowledge of the truth we need to take seriously the challenge in today's gold nugget pride goes before destruction and a holy spirit before a fall today we may need to remember the power and impact this verse should have on us and allow it to soak in yeah let us soak in today let us know again that the lord may want to speak to us today and say look i need you to be healed of reflection disorder that's it that's a a term that that i use that uh i just i feel encapsulates but i think it's a real problem oftentimes we have reflection disorder we don't see ourselves the way we truly are we see ourselves in the way we want ourselves to be we we try to project who we want us to be but when you look in a real mirror it's going to let you know if you've got something or if you've got something you know what i'm saying and so you need to be honest about it and you say lord let me look into your work the mirror of your word see who you are but also see who i am see who i am not so that i can submit and say lord change me mold me and and deliver me from reflection disorder that i can see who i am and submit to your loving hand of correction and shape and move me to who i ought to be amen word of mouth word of the day sin you rise this up to the occasion as you so clearly say in your scripture you will lift up the meek father lord i pray that you would rise us up to meet your expectations your desires your plan in
