Pre-Match Prediction: Apex 3-1. Kyle may be the best player on the Quad but I think Apex has the next 4. Even if he gets one, they just have too many people who can deal with him and no one on Apex is a slouch in the evasion department either.

  • Chase 1 (Kyle vs Michael): Pretty expected to send Kyle out first regardless of chasing/evading. The longer the match goes, the less likely he's gonna be able to grab points. Incredible tailing by Kyle. Michael is very good about maintaining momentum and balance while navigating all these obstacles and while Kyle had a few moments of awkward footing, he still managed to actually close the gap and find the tag. I think his ability to go on high lines without losing much speed at all is a huge asset. Michael didn't really do anything wrong; Kyle's speed is just insane.

  • Chase 2 (Seth vs. Kyle): Interesting choice as Seth has never been the strongest of high line chasers while Kyle utilizes them pretty frequently. Seth almost catches him off guard with that patented Tilted Cube dive but Kyle manages to escape. After that, Kyle uses the high lines to build some distance and manages to spot very well at the Ridge to cut back while Seth commits to the dive. Seth had a few tricks but Kyle was able to respond on the fly very well. Huge point for Hollywood.

  • Chase 3 (Jason vs. Kyle): Jason's chasing is fantastic. It literally looks like he loses 0 speed going under the Mountain and I think even that catches Kyle by surprise. Kyle is a bit more sure footed towards the middle of the chase but Jason's acceleration from a very awkward position under the Sisters somehow manages to rival Kyle's speed over the Sisters and Jason gets the dive. Still, the longest anyone's ever pushed Jason.

  • Chase 4 (Dale vs. Jason): Jason does a fantastic job abusing the high EQ along the entire backline and I thought it was gonna be a routine evasion against someone who hasn't been the most comfortable around the major obstacles. But Dale really accelerates into the dive and brushes Jason's foot at the last moment.

  • Chase 5 (Rob vs. Dale): Great use of high lines. That ramp out of the Tilted Cube doesn't get used a lot but it really forces evaders into a tough situation as they see their chaser descend towards them. Great for flushing people out quickly. Rob does the same thing at the LaZBoy where he opts to go up when a lot of people would probably just tail Dale because they're so close. This forces a desperation slide which Rob quickly capitalizes on. Very smart chasing.

  • Chase 6 (Antonio vs. Rob): Rob has to be one of the smartest evaders in the tournament. I think he intuitively knows that Antonio, while having the speed to keep up, isn't the strongest navigating the obstacles. He consistently spots well and chooses to go up at the LaZBoy corner again. That route he took is way tougher for non parkour athletes IMO compared to simply going along the edge and going high or low at the Sisters. Antonio isn't necessarily slow at this section but he certainly doesn't gain any ground and Rob cruises to a comfortable evasion.

  • Chase 7 (Omar vs. Rob): Very surprised Rob managed to get out of the Ridge corner when he was so far deep but Rob's ability to change direction and accelerate is insane. Omar seemed like he had the angle at a few points but was always a hand's length away.

  • Chase 8 (Justin vs. Rob): Despite Justin struggling a bit early on, I thought he was consistently making smart choices. Kept taking center control, never committed too hard while waiting for Rob to move first. This eventually paid off because he took the high line out of the Tilted Cube and catches a gassed Rob with a nice dive.

  • Chase 9 (Olof vs. Justin): Ill advised dive for Justin. Not much more to say there.

  • Chase 10 (Miguel vs. Olof): I think Miguel's the second strongest member of Hollywood and he shows it off here. Takes a great angle to close the distance on Olof early and has the speed to make up the rest of it under the Mountain.

  • Chase 11 (Michael vs. Miguel): Probably the most tag attempts I've seen in that short amount of time. It was like the 6th swipe which officially connected.

  • Chase 12 (Kyle vs. Michael): Round 2 and I think this is the first time that anyone's actually managed to use Kyle's speed against him. He completely breaks Kyle's ankles around the Loading Cube, gets him to slide under the Mountain as his QM isn't the strongest and then finds a way to change directions over the Sisters that Kyle is totally not expecting as its a route he almost never chooses. This builds a huge amount of distance for Michael as Kyle launches towards the Tilted Cube and Kyle just has no time left at that point. Huge evasion for Michael.

  • Chase 13 (Dale vs. Michael): Nice change of direction by Dale to catch Michael breaking early. It's the same move Michael used against Kyle but Dale's balance allowed him to jump back for the tag.

  • Chase 14 (Amos vs. Dale): Surprise appearance by Amos. A very rough looking chase as Amos crashed into a pole and Dale chose to dive before cutting back directly into Amos. Somehow, he gets out of this with a roll across the center but Dale can't find his footing and Amos gets the time to go for the dive.

Love the bathrobes as the confetti flies. Apex put on quite a show and the tournament as a whole was a huge success IMO. A huge increase in matches but I thought it was handled well and I hope we get to see more tournaments of this caliber in the future. Also can't wait to see many of these teams return at WCT5 as well as USA'21.

Such an epic encounter with so many lightening paced chases. Apex were virtually faultless and they turned in key performances just when it mattered most. Congratulations to them and also to Hollywood Freerunners who didn't make it easy for them.

This really was just depth versus start power. If Kyle makes the tag his second time in, HFR might win, but if he doesn't score three in a match, they just don't have the bench to match Apex

I got to see Seth and Jason chase Kyle! :D

Was it just me or did they lube up the instances before this one?

A little surprised HF put Dale up knowing it'll be a match point situation for them. Thought they might go with Miguel or Antonio.

16 teams came here almost 100 of the finest parkour athletes that the united states has to offer and this is what it's all about the final of the first ever world chase tag usa hollywood freerunner versus apex chase one apex evading athletes ready well michael schleiger's in for apex and it is carl soderman a man who turned down a stuntman job to be here and what a decision because he may well be the knight of flight he's had more invasions than anyone and the pace here is incredible mind-blowing stuff this chase but sliger's got him tailing him all around the core and that oh it nearly worked it nearly worked it was just a foot race all the way through the 20 seconds and sewed him and manages to win it wow this is a full tailgating situation kyle on his back the whole way around i thought mike would have it complete fresh energy there but it was not meant to be chase two hollywood freerunner evading zero all athletes ready seth wang straight after kyle oh and he just shitties out the way again and off he goes carl soderman up the mountain he started using this a lot more compared to the group stages and seth wang clatters into the sisters and round by the ridge and he makes a dive and he doesn't get it and carl solomon's at it again he's at it again more points more invasions this man is unreal this is ridiculous he's already saying i'm going for two and we don't know where this guy's gonna go next what's his record dan six six in a row six and that is a world record we've never seen anything like that well chase stack chase three hollywood freerunners evading 1-0 hollywood free runners athletes ready it does not get any easier for him he's just seen off seth wang but can he see off jason bergerson who is an incredible chaser and he goes around the loading bay and under the ridge and we look again at this man trying to put the jets on and build up some speed on another slip apex they're just misplacing their feet at some crucial moments and he dives and makes the tag just about but it was very nearly carl soderman putting hollywood another point clear for sure dan jason able to get that diving tag on the front line but i believe kyle misinterpreted the slip that jason had at the tilt coupe and thought that he was juking him he wasn't he fell over and then because of that kyle lost a little bit of ground and managed to get the distance caught up on him chase four apex evading 1-0 hollywood free runners athletes ready here comes dale smith jason bergerson starting at the tilted cube and now goes under the mountain and waits around the loading bay dale smith comes around the other side and he's going to do the same trick isn't he get to the tilted cube and then go back under the mountain and across court he comes to the tilted cube jumps into it there smith but he can't get there but he dives and skids and as he managed to make the tag dale smith thinks he has it's right at the death of the 20 and jason points to his 40 acknowledges the tag was made but my word it was close yeah fair play that's a full run around the quad just be able to go back and forth under the mountain but dale's got his number he's managing to catch up on him just there by the loading bay grab him by the foot chase five hollywood freerunners evading one zero hollywood free runners athletes ready rob shiel on the plate he's played some significant roles as apex have fought their way through to the final dale smith scampering under the mountain and the ridge and round the front line we go a shield looks to cut down the gap and he goes under the sisters and makes the tag and smith smacks the floor in frustration six apex evading one zero hollywood free orders athletes ready antonio allen just points at rob shield he's got his eyes on him but can he get his hands on him as she'll goes to the loading bay now under the ridge and more slips we're seeing a few slips from both teams in this one but no slip there from rob shiel who uses the sisters elegantly to build up some space another dive from antonio allen but it doesn't work and she'll can just coast around the outside and that means that rob shiel gets another point for apex chase seven apex evading one all athletes ready one one in this final for the world chase tag usa title and hollywood free runner captain omar zaki comes in trying to track down rob shiel and he does that well oh no he doesn't i thought the tag was made but he escapes under the ridge and now he's by the tilted cube and he goes back under the mountain and when i thought that this was over a few seconds ago rob shield doubled up and apex go into the lead for the first time in this final 2-1 to apex omar zaki looked like he had him and just didn't get a hand on him mate this is a roller coaster we have no idea what could go down here in the next couple of chases we've got hollywood free runners doing real well we've got apex smashing it chase eight apex evading two one apex athletes ready justin sweeney on the plate looking to deny rob shiel a hat-trick which way does he go he goes under the mountain and keeps on going under the ridge and stops to go back under it just in sweeney looking to get up high and close down the space and so he disappears under the mountain and happy to wait there rob shiel he nearly loses his footing but scrambles clearing the loading bays dive through it justin sweeney and a collapse from rob shiel over the ridge he just had no more to give yeah you can see that exhaustion coming through now in the later stages of this final in world chase tag usa rob just making a couple of slip-ups i saw that one there off the zaxby sign just pushing off the border and then again not quite making it far enough past the loading bay chase nine hollywood free winners evading 2-1 apex athlete ready justin sweeney starting at the base of the mountain olaf wood gets up high drops down but justin sweeney can't keep that pace it was just like diving into tree cult well i don't know how to describe those moves from olaf woods and i'm not sure but miguel diaz knows quite what to think of him chase 10 apex evading 2-1 apex athletes ready [Applause] just prowling around on that starter plate but off goes olaf wood nearly slips off the platform there but he manages to maintain some speed as he goes around the loading bay and under the mountain and miguel stretches out a hand and gets an ankle or a foot whatever it was it was a tag chase 11 hollywood three runners evading 2-1 apex athletes ready michael schleiger going after miguel diaz who was just rubbing his calf there i don't know if he had a touch of cramp but no sign of it there as he crawls to freedom and then gets on the sisters turns back the other way and slyga again how many times did he need three apparently chase 12 apex evading 2-1 apex athlete's ready carl soderman the totem for this hollywood free running team in the key to their success but can he stop michael sliger from leveling this final up a sliger going out round the rim using those boards to spring off and onto these sisters and across court and sodom and is not getting closer to him not getting close enough and look at the celebration michael schleger has held off carl solomon and it is three one apex and not only that three one to get that leading evasion this is what kyle was known for switching up that style switching up his approach and now mike was using that against him chase 13 apex evading match point apex athletes ready the title is on the line and michael schleiger can reach out his hands and grab it for apex dale smith has got to stop him he hops out of the mountain dives back low underneath and sliger nearly gets away but doesn't manage it and it is all down to dale smith now to see if he can get back level chase 14 hollywood free runners evading match boy apex oh my days he's only been put in once before and amos rendau has sent himself in to try and win the title right now for apex talk about using him sparingly oh he smashed into the front line there but dale smith didn't know where he was and went down surely this time he's done it absolutely incredible there were at least three mistakes for the pair of them in that one but it does not matter because amos rendale sending himself in to take his apex team to glory i've become the world chase tag usa champions kyle soderman undoubtedly one of the breakthrough stars of this tournament he helped the hollywood freerunners battle their way through to the final but apex proved a hurdle too far they're the ones who take the trophy they're the ones who take the title they're the ones who are world chase tag usa champions [Applause] [Music] [Applause] oh
