[Music] [Music] [Music] good morning ray texans isn't this a wonderful sight to see welcome to the wb ray high school class of 2021 commencement ceremony my name is roxanne gonzalez cuevas and i am the very proud principal of wwe high school an avid school and an international bachelorette school it is my pleasure to present to you the wb ray high school class of 2021 [Applause] once again welcome to everyone this morning and including those whose family members are watching from home let me be the first to congratulate our graduating class of 2021. your families are so proud of you and we share in that same sentiment our seniors sitting before us represent innumerable awards and recognitions these honors are the achievements that bring credit to you your families wb rate high school our texan community and our faculty and staff who have supported you along the way the challenges of this year are uniquely significant to this graduating class but remember that these challenges have a purpose in life at this time we can take a brief moment to remember those that have lost the last 15 months thank you i will now ask everyone to please stand for the presentation of the colors by the w.b ray high school color guard under the command of brooke fernandez and remain standing for the pledge of allegiance and welcome address by our senior class president president sophia wiggington studies teacher mr walker perkins and last but not least i would love to introduce the best faculty and staff in corpus christi please stand to be recognized at this time this is janey bell school board president please come and share remarks from the board of trustees good morning graduates on behalf of the corpus christi independent school board of trustees it is my distinct pleasure to congratulate you on earning your high school diploma we are delighted to help you celebrate and we are can't wait to greet you as you walk across the stage i want to take a moment to tell you how very proud we are of you and your perseverance through a pandemic while we navigated through this year of uncertainty everyone kept going and you our students remained focused on your goal it is so important for you to understand what an achievement this is you overcame any obstacle she may have had prior to the pandemic you completed the many assignments quizzes tests projects you had during high school you finished your junior year and you conquered your senior year amid the many challenges of covet 19. and now as we begin to see our lives returning to normal so too begins the next phase of your life after you cross the stage after you enjoy a well-deserved celebration with family and friends we the board of trustees know you will take the next steps towards your new goals the ones that you have that will help you build a life that you've dreamed of let us applaud your parents guardians teachers and those who have guided you along the way to celebrate you today to be certain whether your next step is college the military or the workforce or hopefully a future education leader at ccisd you will have many challenges ahead of you the dedication necessary to succeed however will come from the courage you have shown throughout your education thus far you have thrived you have learned and you have grown you can do anything the man the pandemic made us slow down to cherish our families and our friends more dearly and to value life as a priceless gift our community survived because of compassion kindness and the selfless acts of so many carry this forward class of 2021 for it is in the giving that you will find success and happiness we always remind our graduates to stay in touch i mean we mean we would love for you to stay in our community and to stay involved in our city it is a wonderful time to live work and raise a family in corpus christi and we hope you will come back to our area by choosing to work to volunteer and to encourage future classes of students to make education a priority on behalf of the board of trustees i offer our heartfelt congratulations once again on earning your high school diploma we recognize the hard work dedication and resilience that carried you through both your education and these unprecedented times enjoy this moment class of 2021. we love you we are so very proud of each and every one of you this is your day achievement and one that highlights your perseverance and determination students who were in the avid program our advancement via individual determination program please stand you have demonstrated your college readiness and are definitely set for success two students we'd like to recognize for perfect attendance from kindergarten until the 12th grade i know exactly amazing they are guadalupa please stand at this time [Music] good morning honored guests teachers faculty and the class of 2021 i would first like to congratulate all of you for being here today because it's not every day you get to see me give a speech [Music] no but seriously welcome to the graduation ceremony of the class of 2021 from wb ray high school [Music] you were you wouldn't be here if you hadn't done something right because as cj heck once said we are all products of our environment so pat yourself on the back because even if you think that you weren't a part of our success today you you were you actually were for that reason i would like to thank all of you for making this possible today i would also like to personally thank my teachers my friends and especially my family i would not be giving this speech today if it weren't for them i wouldn't be here today if my parents hadn't taken the giant leap of faith when deciding to migrate to the united states i can't imagine how great it would feel to have something pay off like that [Applause] gracias graduating high school is a major milestone in our lives and although it may seem like the end it's only the beginning we are rewarded for our four years of hard work with a key to many doors of opportunity no matter what path to success we choose to take after today whether that be post-secondary education a career armed forces or whatever else you deem right for you [Music] this journey we call life is something to take advantage of before we go so set them goals and set them high because no goal is too far-fetched you will achieve a lot more if you set them high than if you had no ambition to start with even if you do not reach them [Music] so go out there and write your own story build your own spaceship keep on making highlights and use this diploma as a launch pad to touch the sky but no pressure not everything in life is due at 11 59 pm so let's it's taking this moment together to breathe in and breathe out thank you and our class valedictorian parents are longzhong lee and wei zhong will the parents and family members of tina lee please stand please [Applause] good morning my name is tina lee and i'm honored to be your valedictorian i know y'all are anxious to receive your diplomas so this speech like me will be short to start i would like to thank all of the counselors faculty and staff for all that they have done for us you all have worked tirelessly to provide us with the safe learning environment this year whether that was virtually or in person thank you to the teachers for always providing us with a quality education thank you to the coaches for always cheering us on at our tournaments thank you to all the family and friends who have cared for us and supported us and i want to especially thank my family for all that they have done for me to my dad thank you for teaching me to always persevere and never falter to my mom thank you for always lending me your shoulder to cry on to my little sister mona thank you for being my shopping companion and for all the late night movie sessions and of course to my little brother samuel thank you for always helping me with my homework love you bro now to the class of 2021 we have survived literally this past year we have lived through a global pandemic that has shaken our hearts and the very foundations of our world indeed we have experienced history itself however along the way we have lost loved ones that unfortunately could not be here with us today walking into the hallways of reyes freshman i am sure that none of us would have imagined our senior year to be like the one we have just undergone instead of getting dressed up every morning for school we lived in our sweatpants and t-shirts instead of hanging out with our friends in class we talked in awkward breakout zooms instead of attending football games pep rallies and school dances we attended protests funerals and vaccination centers but despite these changes we have to keep on moving forward because we are going to face many more challenges and obstacles in the future this is simply the beginning there is a common chinese saying that my mom once told me that i would like to share with you all mom please excuse my accent essentially when the winds of change blow some people will build walls to hide behind while others will build windmills so as to confront the turbulence and create something out of it life is long and full of unexpected predicaments but it is up to us to decide whether or not we are going to fall victim to the difficult times that said i am so proud of the wb ray class of 2021 for all of our accomplishments y'all are amazing [Applause] while we may go our separate ways from this point forward i hope that everyone will continue to strive towards their dreams and always always stand tall in the face of adversity i love you all and thank you thank you so much tina the proverb you shared with us is both eloquent insightful thank you seniors at
