- Today, we are checking out these two and I know people are
gonna make comments saying, "Adrian what's the point in
making content about watches we can't actually buy?" But you can buy them. It's just tricky. And because it's tricky,
that means it's even more important to make content about them. You need to know how hard you need to push to get one of these watches. You might see something in this video that really makes you feel like, "Yes, that has to be my next watch." Equally, you might see
something in this video that just completely
puts you off the watch and you know not to waste your time. Let's check them out. (intense dramatic music) Welcome back to Bark and Jack, I'm Adrian. And the worst part, the hardest part about buying a Rolex
is trying to figure out whether you actually want it or not. For lot of us, the first
time of being able to try out a watch is at the point of purchase. You get that call from your AD, you go down you put it on your wrist and you need to figure out there and then, "Is this the right watch for me?" You need to figure out, "Do I actually want this watch or do I want it because
I don't want to miss out on the opportunity to buy the watch." That customer journey,
that customer experience is pretty shit. Quick rant here, there'll
be a little number tag thing so you can jump this rant. But a lot of people complain about Rolex creating this
scarcity or limiting supply. I don't really believe in that. I don't think this is a
problem that Rolex has created. This is a problem that the
gray dealers have created. I've gone through the main gray dealers in different regions around the world. There are over 1200 Rolex Oyster Perpetuals on the gray market. This watch range hasn't even
been out for 12 months yet, yet there's over 1200 of
them on the gray market, yet people still blame
Rolex for the shortage. 1200 watches on the gray market
isn't a shortage of watches. They're just in the wrong place. If I'd gone and bought up all the Omega Speedmaster Professionals there would be a "shortage" of them but that doesn't mean Omega
has created the shortage. I've created the shortage. I own and control the
supply of that watch. I therefore own and control
the market for that watch. It's not a fault of Omega's. Omega's made plenty of these watches. So this isn't an issue that Rolex hasn't made enough watches. 1200 watches that's not surplus stock. That's just stock that's
in the wrong hands. And this scarcity isn't a fault of Rolex. I think it's a fault of the gray dealers. Well, rant over. Let's talk about watches. I love simple watches. I love simple time only watches. I think there's a lot of power and there's a lot of confidence that comes from having such a
plain and simple design. It allows the small details to shine. I also love the purity
of this functionality. It's, this watch just tells
a time and does nothing else. It's a no fuss timekeeping device. I do completely accept
when people say that these are overrated or they're boring or they're just too plain. All of this is just opinion, so it doesn't really matter how we see it. I just really liked the simplicity of it. My daily watch is a Rolex Explorer. I thought this was a boring
watch before I bought it but then you put it on
and you experience it and there is a nice
purity to the simplicity. I get that exact same feeling
with these Oyster Perpetuals. What I love about Rolexes like this is that they completely go
against the grain of what's, perhaps non-watch people
see Rolex as being. The kind of typical viewpoint of Rolex is big, flashy, gaudy watches that, kind of show their status symbol. They can show wealth or
they can show success. This is kind of how I see Rolex as just creating a good watch. They aren't a complex watch company, they aren't good at making complications. They also aren't really a
high finish watch company, they just make solid watches. And that's exactly what this range is. There are a lot of things, little things about this range, which I think really highlights
an attention to detail or wants to give something to the customer that far exceeds their requirement. This isn't a sports watch,
yet it has a screw down crown. It isn't a swimming or dive watch, yet it has a hundred
meters of water resistance. The movement inside is
superb, it's highly accurate. Its caliber 3230, is accurate from minus two seconds to
plus two seconds a day. It's COSC certified. It's anti magnetic, thanks to
all the silicon components. It has 70 hours of power reserve and a service interval of 10 years. The bracelet is absolutely rock solid and it has a five millimeter
extension on the clasp. The finishing isn't up
to Grand Seiko standard. Grand Seiko is, (mumbles). They're different from other watch brands. But still the finishing
is good for the price. This is 4400 for the 36 millimeter or 4700 for the 41 millimeter. I think for that price, you're getting a lot
of watch for the money. Maybe not functionality. You're not getting anything fancy but when it comes to timekeeping this is a kick-ass timekeeping device. I wear a 36 millimeter
Explorer as my daily watch. So naturally I gravitate to
the 36 millimeter size watch. I think it looks good
but it also feels right. The 41 millimeter version,
it feels large for me but actually I, I think
it looks quite cool. There's something about
the understated size of 36 millimeter that I think it's just cool. There's something cool about subtleness. Don't get sucked into the idea of 36 millimeter being a lady size or 40 millimeter being the gent size. That's just simply not the case and to kind of destroy that mindset. Here are three of the best
selling Michael Kors watches. A brand that is marketed at ladies. One of these three
bestsellers is 40 millimeters and another one is 42 millimeters wide. When it comes to sizing,
just simply choose the one that you feel most comfortable with and the one that you think looks cool. When we look at buying a new watch we all have our own different criteria, our own requirements as to
what that watch needs to be. Whether it's got water
resistance, a screw down crown what power reserve does it have? But there's something
that trumps all of that. And that's the ability of
fitting in a Bark and Jack, watch roll. The handmade calfskin leather. Bark And Jack watch roll
available at BarkAndJack.Shop. Why am I plugging a product
that's nearly out of stock. 'Cause I shot the footage
before we got so low. If it's out of stock
there's gonna be new stock coming in about three weeks. We're having them made right now. I do absolutely love these watches. I liked them when they were launched. I thought the colors were super cool. There's a lot of character
with these colors and I can absolutely see
people owning multiple of these watches, to have the full set. But having got hands on with these, I've just fallen in love with them. I think they are just great watches. They're just superbly made. 4,000 pounds. A lot of people put
Rolex on a big pedestal because of the size of the brand, because of the power of the brand, but also because of the
resell value of a watch. These watches sell for about 7,000-8,000 on the gray market. They're not a 7,000-8,000 pound watch. You can't compare them to a 7,000. You will lose, if you try and compare Rolex's gray market value to watches at their retail value. It just doesn't make sense. This for 4,000 pounds,
I think is brilliant. Rolex watches are powered by
tried and tested movements. I'm not saying things won't go wrong and Rolex isn't a perfect brand. These guys churn out a million over a million watches a year, but as a mass produced product, I think this is pretty awesome. Rolex's gonna be launching,
I I have a big feeling. Rolex is gonna be launching
a new Explorer two this year. In a couple of weeks, actually. I have plans on getting that watch but if they mess it up and I don't like it then I will most certainly be buying one of these oyster perpetuals. I think they're brilliant. If you don't like the price of these or you want something slightly different, do check out the Omega Aqua Terra range. They are incredible watches. If the explorer range didn't exist my daily watch would
be an Omega Aqua Terra. Also, if you'd like
the styling, the colors but it's out of your budget,
then check out Halios. They have some great field watches and they do tend to dabble
in some cool colors. Which color is your favorite out of all of these oyster perpetuals? And I know they're hard to get so what other alternatives
are there out there? And on that point of these
things being hard to get, you just need to make your AD aware that you are genuine in your purchase, that this watch isn't gonna
end up on the gray market. I know it's a bullshit process and I know it puts off
people trying to buy Rolexes because of this process. But you just need to
beat the gray dealers. They are the people
creating the problem here. Just part of the Rolex game, really. Anyway guys, thanks for watching. Do drop a comment down below, and let me know what
your favorite color is or your favorite
alternative to this range. If you wanna check out our
