well e Carroll has sent Donald Trump on his way to bankruptcy with the $90 million that he now owes egene Carol as of tonight that's $ 83.3 million in a a jury return for eege Carol on Friday added to the $5.6 million that a jury returned for eege Carol in the same courtroom last year and with interest running on both of those judgments interest remember the interest that everyone else has forgot about Donald Trump is already around $90 million in debt to egene Carol and that debt increases every single day that it is not paid because of the interest added by law to that amount every day that it remains unpaid and that could be the smallest debt that Donald Trump owes after a New York judge enters a judgment in a civil fraud case against Donald Trump in which the New York State Attorney General is sinking $370 million and that's not all don't stop there there are much bigger possible judgments coming Washington DC juries could make that New York number look small if they return verdicts against Donald Trump in these civil cases brought against him by 11 members of the House of Representatives that's 11 plaintiffs who are suing Donald Trump for in effect threatening their lives on January 6th by sending his mob to the capital there are also three police officers who are suing Donald Trump for the threats and injuries that they suffered on J January 6th each one of those plaintiff's cases each one of them could be getting hundreds of millions of dollars in the same Washington DC courthouse where a civil jury returned a verdict of $148 million against rud Rudolf Giuliani for the defamation of two Georgia election workers Ruby Freeman and her daughter sheay Moss Donald Trump could be facing court orders to pay a billion dollars or more in the next few years and those Washington DC jurors are going to get to hear Donald Trump saying in depositions that he's worth1 billion do those juries are going to hear statements from Donald Trump saying he's worth much more money than anything his accounting accounting of his assets shows and so the 90 million or 100 million depending on exactly when she collects it that egene Carol is now on her way to collecting from Donald Trump could just be the beginning of Donald Trump's collapse into bankruptcy because of all of the willful and stupid ways Donald Trump has broken the law the law that egene Carol used to crush Donald Trump in court and humiliate him to the point where he St walked out of the courtroom during final arguments is the oldest law that Donald Trump has found himself subject to before there was a United States of America defamation was against the law in this part of the world to the Puritan Settlers of the Massachusetts Bay Colony nothing mattered more to them than their reputations nothing and so defamation was a frequently used tort in colonies like Massachusetts more than a hundred years before The Constitution of the United States existed that period is recalled in Nathaniel Hawthorne's 19 century novel The Scarlet Letter set in 1642 which tells the story of the agonies suffered by a woman who lost her reputation there were worse Fates in those days than having to wear a red letter A marking you as an adulterer reputation was a matter of life and death for the people men and women but mostly women who were accused of Witchcraft in 1692 in Massachusetts 20 women and men were put to death after being convicted as witches each one of those accused witches was defamed defamed in the worst possible way with the worst possible end to this day the term Witch Hunt means an investigation based on nothing and it is criminal and civil defendant Donald Trump's favorite term to describe what is happening to him he used it on Friday after the jury quickly returned their 83.3 million verdict against Donald Trump in the egene Carol case I will now read to you for the first time ever a Donald Trump post on his social media Network in full and I am reading it in full because of the words that do not appear in this post at 4:55 p.m. on Friday Donald Trump wrote absolutely ridiculous I fully disagree with both verdicts and we be appealing this whole Biden directed Witch Hunt focused on me and the Republican party our legal system is out of control and being used as a political weapon they have taken away all First Amendment rights this is not America exclamation point that is the ranting of Donald Trump cowering in fear now of the best lawyer he has ever seen in a courtroom Roberta Ka that is Donald Trump cowering in fear of egene Carol because that post does not contain the name egene Carol Donald Trump has dared not speak her name since Roberta Kaplan convinced a jury to shut him up with an $83 million verdict in her final argument to the jury on Friday Roberto Kaplan said it will take an unusually high punitive damages award to have any hope of stopping Donald Trump to have any chance of allowing M Carol's life to return to normal after a very short deliberation the jury returned $65 million in punitive damages in Donald Trump's defense he relentlessly his relentlessly incompetent defense lawyer Alina habba tried to claim a First Amendment right for Donald Trump to say whatever he wants about egene Carol she told the jury ladies and gentlemen in our country you have the right to speak you have a constitutional right to speak Miss Kaplan objection your honor the judge sustained you have a constitutional right to some kinds of speech and not others Donald Trump grandly stalked out of the courtroom a few minutes into Roberto kaplan's argument to the jury the judge stopped attorney Kaplan for a moment just to note the record will reflect that Mr Trump just Rose and walked out of the courtroom after the Trump defense lawyer made her argument to the jury Roberto kaplan's co-consul Sean Crowley Rose to speak there has been some speculation about how the jury might have reacted to Donald Trump's stalking out of the courtroom during Roberta kaplan's final argument there is every reason to believe that Sean Crowley's brilliant final argument turned that stunt into more money in the verdict returned against Donald Trump Sean Crowley ended her argument this way the defense want you to decide that the only way Miss Carol could have avoided the bad things that have happened to her is by staying silent meanwhile the man who did these things to her the man who sexually assaulted her he gets to do whatever he wants according to the defense he gets to lie he gets to threaten he gets to ignore a jury verdict objection the judge overruled Crowley he gets to defy the law and the rules of this courtroom you saw how he has behaved through this trial you heard him you saw him stand up and walk out of the courtroom while miss Kaplan was speaking rules don't apply to Donald Trump he gets to do whatever he wants and use his massive powerful platform to keep ruining her life he even believes he gets to testify under oath and lie once again objection overruled ladies and gentlemen this isn't a campaign rally it's not Aid event this is a court of law and it's Miss Carol's life Donald Trump sexually assaulted her he defamed her he keeps defaming her he is not the victim this is her life help her take it back make him stop make him pay enough so that he will stop thank you the winning team discussed the TA the case with Rachel tonight if your lawyers told you that there was another case and that you should go back and get get more money out of him and sue him again would you do it absolutely absolutely I am more than willing to do it again because we achieved so much in a 7-Day trial we did what people thought was impossible we beat Donald Trump where were you when this verdict was returned I was uh in the courtroom I was there um funny thing was we didn't know that the verdict was going to be delivered we' heard that there was a note and we were urged back in the courtroom and we were hanging my daughter and I were hanging with egene and her niece and her sister and the lawyers we went through the metal detector again we sat in the back of the on the bride's side the Press was on the other side and it's a big courtroom as you probably know so it seemed that egene and her team were way up front and um when we saw uh Alina habba and Mike medo walk in we saw Shan Crowley mouth the word verdict and then we all started holding hands and and squeezing uh I've never seen anything like it it was by far the most dramatic 15 minutes of my life and until the four person handed well including when she handed her envelope to the clerk who opened it up had trouble reading something handed it to judge Kaplan and now I'm imagining all kinds of bad things and judge Kaplan asked her is that an m and what does it stand for and she said yes million oh that's before you oh wow yeah that's before everything else was read so that was a very good indication that I could let go of my daughter my friend's hands and perhaps live another moment wow I've never you know in a civil uh verdict return I've never heard that tip that way it's always the number comes out and then more numbers comes out as as was here about three or four numbers come out because there are three or four different things they're they're returning money for right and so you're sitting through every one of those and every one of them is coming with the word million and they're getting bigger and they're getting bigger and of course that M was a good sign but also watching the jury because I'd never gotten to see them I had seen the first jury in May this jury looked completely different of course you seven men only two women and right one of the women was the four person as it was in the first jury and the first trial and afterwards judge kapan made the most I'm sure you read it the most moving speech about this jury's Duty and what they did for justice and it really is the moment when after we all burst into tears you think we don't understand civilians don't understand Civics we need to do it it's not just an annoying day that you leave work and then go have Chinese food because Chinatown is nearby it really is something so important and this jury obviously took it so ser seriously because the numbers they came up with were not numbers that had been discussed um were were obviously something they thought about yeah and in these Federal courtrooms there are two things that happen that are that are boilerplate uh but if you listen and pay attention they are moving to the point of Tears one is as you say uh the judges comments to jurors after a verdict not the in the instructions are one thing but after after a verdict and when they express as all judges do their gratitude for their service and and the other that happens in those same courtrooms are citizenship ceremonies in which federal judges are swearing in New American citizens and if you're ever in the courtroom for one of those uh it it's yeah it's a deeply moving event and and this is one of those moments where you realize why they built this building why why they why they've done all this work to create the jurist Prudence that allows these kinds of days to happen what what was the first thing egene said to you you said to egene well we we screamed but she said to me where were you just before I said I was sitting with you she said what she must have been in such a panic that's the way it is yeah she had no idea right we actually took our shoes off at the same time to push them through that she had no remember uh no memory of that but um you know she said we did it she SE seemed almost stunned almost unable to unable to believe it and and early in this week of trial I think she was worried that somehow this was a trial she could lose and this wasn't really a trial she could lose because the fact of his assault was unimpeachable so that once that is established no matter how hard the other side whines and Carries On that's not for grabs that's not for re litigation except Trump did try to relitigate it 100% the denials the Trump denials were part of the evidence because that's part of the defamation right so it was part so this jury heard and knew full well Donald Trump denies that anything ever happened between these two people uh they they knew that that's that side and they could was whining it right right there I don't know her I never met her I mean come on yeah and there are juries that come back and return these minimal the juries come back return $1 for the pl right so there could have been one of those insult verdicts returned uh it you you I feel like you never really know until let you speak no no and also judge Kaplan in his very thorough charging orders did say you can offer her a dollar you could offer her more you know and we're all trying to parse it and think is he saying she's only going to get a dollar and what could happen here but um I think that eege herself and the two great lawyers who argued and rebutted and cross-examined uh the other side did an outstanding job and I have to say I've gotten to know the associates and the paralegals who work at um at Robbie Kaplan firm and they're they're really it was such a stunning Act of not just Sisterhood but brotherhood and it was it was for egene she inspired them I know she's going to Demmer and say it's not about me but you had to have a person of that kind of courage and fearlessness I mean you've known her for a million years she's one of those Dames that Roslin Russell or Katherine heern would have played in the 40s she is she's just that that brave gal yeah and and for us uh meeting her as writers in New York she was somebody we all looked up to before we ever met her before you ever had a conversation she was so stylish her writing is so stylish everything and and so so one of the interesting things is trying to convey who this person really is to a jury who's never met her and do it within these really strict rules of evidence that don't feel like a way you get to know someone yes that's true and there it would be uh disingenuous to to pretend that she's not eccentric she's also very eccentric uh I think my daughter says the first time she met her she was wearing Jers and a pith helmet I mean you never know exactly what she'll appear as um with her Daring Do but but she is a little bit odd and you you have to say that again two things can be true a person could be eccentric and unusual and also be honest yeah that's it and uh you the Trump lawyers when you were on the stand in the first case and and you know this second case uh was a validation of everything that was in the first case this jury validated all of those findings but those Trump lawyers when you were on the witness tried to tear you apart uh because they suspected you were a Democrat they thought they thought that means she can't be believed ex and you had tweeted you tweeted these public statements about how much using the word hate how much you hate Donald Trump hate him passionately and so that was presented to the jury about by the Trump lawy like well you can't listen to her yes they had a very big point to make and that was that I hated him so much that I made up this story or lifted it from a TV procedural drama and said to e let's get Donald Trump and let's pretend he raped you at bergdorf's and let's get a lot of money for it um which isn't my style and also Donald Trump wasn't president when he raped her he was a guy as you have heard eene say uh he's just a guy and he was just a guy who was known to be a womanizer so it wasn't there was no political agenda other than telling the truth about what happened to my friend by a man who later went into politics and later became president but certainly he was no neither of those things when he assaulted her
