but even the popular comedian has moments when she steps out of line and upsets both her guests or her audience from confronting celebrities with their biggest fear to discussing more serious issues in playing games here are a times Ellen DeGeneres pissed off guests when he see Channing Tatum you would definitely not suspect that the Magic Mike actor is really afraid of dolls yes he heard right dolls when he appeared in The Ellen Show in 2014 he revealed that porcelain dolls completely freaked him out more than pretty much anything else he stated that he found him really creepy because they had such realistic eyes and he always imagined them to turn their heads when he walked past them of course Ellen already knew about the actors fear and decided to take the opportunity to demonstrate Tatum's irrational reaction to the dolls by putting one right in his face the show hosted brought two of the creepiest looking porcelain dolls and while the actor pull up his leg and tried to move as far away from the dolls as possible Ellen invaded his personal space with one of the dolls trying to get him to touch it [Applause] although Tatum yelled stop repeatedly Ellen continued and he probably died inside when she made the doll declare its love to him and kiss him in the face [Applause] not olive Ellen's guests are celebrities in most normal people who appear in the show beyond happy that they get to meet the show hosts in person but there was one guess who probably went home with mixed feelings that day back in 2015 Ellen had received a letter by a woman who wanted to tell the story of her daughter a young woman by the name of Jaime bells who was a grade A student and struggling to pay tuition on her own unfortunately her mom couldn't support her financially so at one point Jaime had donated blood every week for six months just to buy herself a computer after telling the story on her show Ellen brought Jaime onto the stage to tell her that the company Shutterfly was gonna pay her tuition however just as she was going to say it her producer Randy and her up to ten for melon that Shutterfly was not in fact going to pay Jaime's tuition but was gonna give her a computer as if that wasn't awkward enough the whole situation got even more uncomfortable when Jaime pointed out that she had a computer just like we had heard Ellen say only a few seconds earlier although Jaime gratefully accepted the gift getting your hopes up only to have them shattered again a few seconds later must have been pretty upsetting Ellen loves to play games with her guests and that's also what she did when singer Katy Perry came on her show a couple of years back Ellen and her staff had created a game specifically for the singer called William Perry me where she was shown photos of male celebrities and had to choose between who she would theoretically rather want to marry however before the game began Perry asked jokingly whether she would have to marry again and Ellen responded by telling her that she had never been married not married apparently she had forgotten that Katy Perry had once been married to comedian Russell Brand and even though well and then remembered Perry decided to make the situation even more awkward when she pointed out that Ellen had actually given her a wedding present on her show back then Ellen is one of the most popular people in television and it doesn't happen very often that she upsets people on her shell but when she pulled a prank on her audience last year it left a lot of people cringing one time Ellen wanted to treat her audience members so she had a table with free merge setup during filming the sign on it however asked Fassett taken only one item and while most people respected this too women helped themselves to a whole lot of free swag little did they know that they were being filmed as there was a hidden camera set up and Ellen decided to confront them on-air and publicly shame them a national-level talking to the audience she said that she wanted to see how honest they were any of you could have taken more than one thing and he didn't except for these ladies right here she said while the camera zoomed it on the two ladies with their actions being Sheldon squeezed for everyone to see [Applause] caught red-handed with one of them even saying nobody will see just do it the embarrassed women tried to explain themselves one of them said that the extra goodies were for her sister who couldn't make it but angry Ellen immediately shot back to teach them a lesson the talk show host send both of them to sit in what she called Ellen Jail which was an improvised cell on the stage saying you think nobody's watching you and he just need to be a good person just because he want to be a good person rapper Kanye West has become notorious for his sometimes erratic behavior over the years as well as some controversial statements he has made during interviews and even in live television so it is not surprising that he was responsible for one of the most famous awkward moments in the Ellen Show during his interview with Ellen on her show in 2016 Kanye apparently had a lot to say and made all sorts of strange comments even breaking out into song mid interview to get the audience excited about him being there yes for most of Kanye's nearly six and a half minute rants Ellen sat quietly and watched the rapper with amusement fascination and a little confusion as he talked about literally everything from historical influences to his own upbringing in his art but the hosts casual glasses towards the camera pretty much said it all I have a condition called synesthesia where I see styles I see them everything that I sonically make is a painting I see it one of the strangest moments of the interview was when Konya talked about how he had asked Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg to invest in his ideas for a modest sum of 1 billion dollars the rapper claimed that Zuckerberg had said that he would help him but had not followed through on his promise yet he eventually ended his speech with the words I'm sorry daytime television I'm sorry for the realness after brief applause by the audience Ellen made a weird face and then couldn't help herself but point out that it's not daytime television anymore it is always helpful to do some research about your guests simply because it can lead to a lot of funny moments even if it might not always be in your guests favor as the incident with Channing Tatum proved Tatum wasn't Ellen's first victim though because the show host also caused actress Kristen Bell to nearly have a mental breakdown on her show a couple of years back when Bell was a guest in The Ellen Show in January 2012 she told Ellen about the special present that her then fiance Dax Shepard had given her for her 30 for his birthday and even though she had no idea what the present was what he told her that it had arrived she was immediately overcome and thought there's a sloth near has she told Ellen the actress had apparently been waiting to interact with a sloth her entire life and now that the moment was here she didn't know how to deal with all the emotions and had a meltdown [Music] of course Ellen couldn't resist and alluded to having a sloth on the show as a joke just a secret symbol getting overly emotional again which became one of the best moments in the show's history back in 2015 Caitlyn Jenner appeared in The Ellen Show and while everything started off good with Ellen even praising Jenner and her involvement in transgender rights activism thanks turned around soon enough when it came to the topic of same-sex marriage which greatly annoyed the talk-show host the ayam Kaede star upset Ellen when she called herself a traditionalist who never used to approve of same-sex marriage I mean I kind of like tradition I don't quite get it still even though she added that her views and the subjects had evolved over time Ellen wasn't convinced and said that it's funny because Jenner is still kind of a little not on board with it because you're so you're still kind of a little not unborn with it no I'm on board while generous system that she was obviously annoyed Ellen explained that same-sex couples seek the same equality as the transgender people the Jenner supports it didn't end there in the studio though as Ellen claimed that the former Olympian still has a judgment about gay marriage during Howard Stern interview adding that she didn't entirely understand Jenner's TAS and the subject you're wanting people to understand and accept you this is like really confusing to people and you still have a judgment about gay people in marriage and even though the talk-show host said that the interview with Jenner was great she sort of took it personally when Jenner didn't des with her like so many guests before her I don't think she's a dancer maybe she didn't want to dance with me because I'm a lesbian she said obviously still annoyed in 2013 Charlize Theron's appeared in The Ellen Show and the two played a game of celebrity together in 30 seconds she had to guess as many celebrities as possible from the clues the show host gave her and while she quickly gets that Halle Berry was the first celebrity things went downhill after that tharon didn't guess American Idol and X Factor judge Simon Cowell but wasted a lot of time on him before finally moving on unfortunately Ellen's clues for celebrity number three being a former sexiest man alive and actor in the Ocean's eleven twelve and thirteen movies were not enough for Theron to get George Clooney and that she gets JLo for some reason the buzzer went off and her time was up the actress then appeared to be angry because she had only managed to guess one blaming Ellen for not giving her helpful clues and telling her that she wasn't playing the game the way you're supposed to but then implied that you would accept her defeat because it was Ellen's show after all obviously the actress was only kidding about the whole thing and Shirley knew that she was the one at fault for wasting time with Simon Cowell
