this month we are seeing some headlines of some GPU price drops some of these could be very interesting depending on your price range but honestly guys most people aren't buying in the $750 price range I think more people are buying closer to $200 or at least you'd like to if there was anything worth buying so is there well the 6650 XD has dropped in price to $220 right now although there are some more models available at higher prices I think that's extremely compelling because it reaches within 90% of the performance of cards like the 4060 uh which are still going for closer to $300 a few models available at 290 and cards like amd's own 7600 from this generation which are going for around 270 with at least one model available at 260 now this is pretty interesting because it offers like I said similar basic performance now when you're comparing it to cards like the 4060 you are losing out on features like better rate tracing performance but my general thoughts on that is at higher performance tiers R tracing is a more compelling option for for some people but at lower performance tiers you're more likely to be turning down graphic settings to boost your performance rather than turning them up I'd be more missing the upscaler with dlss because if I'm going to upscale at 1080p I would ra much rather use dlss than FSR but honestly I'd rather just not upscale at 1080P and so if you're playing most games medium to high settings the 6650 XT is going to get the job done at $220 and compared to $290 uh you know the the 4060 cost 31 almost 32% % more money uh rather than the $220 6650 XT without offering that much more raw performance so it's going to get my bang for the buck recommendation at about $200 but honestly past this point past $220 uh up until you hit about $500 I think there's a bit of a no man's land in the new GPU Market which is why I highly recommend checking out the used market and today's sponsor ja. I can save you $10 off your first purchase using code and 10 now java. is where Gamers buy build and sell you can find a link in the pinned comment Andor video description and they offer a bunch of cool options one is search listings for uh you know a bunch of gpus in this price range where like I said the used Market is going to be way better than the new market you can also fund your upgrade by getting an instant offer from Jawa for your use used GPU you just tell them the model and condition they give you an instant offer super quick and simple although if you want to set your own price you can list it yourself on jawwa as well uh also if you're getting overwhelmed by picking everything out for yourself and building the PC they offer uh some great pre-built options at a wide variety of price points and if you're wanting some of that one-on-one feedback they have a Discord Community with over 10,000 members where you can discuss with other um more experienced Builders about your choices and get a lot of great feedback and again I can save you $10 off your first purchase using code 0 and10 now if you are looking at the new market between the uh you know once you're going past this $220 price point uh the next thing I actually like is the 7800 XT for $500 so if we're uh if we need to buy something in between and you're not going to go with the used route what do I have available for you well Nvidia like I said the 4060 if you want nvidia's feature set at $300 290 at the lowest it does actually offer better you know performance per dollar if you just look at how many dollars you're spending per frame then the rest of nvidia's for ,000 series lineup so it's actually reasonable bang for the buck from that standpoint it's just that you could get uh you're only getting 8 gigabyt of vram which doesn't feel great for $300 considering a lot of games that it would otherwise have the power to run at some uh almost Mac settings or Mac settings do start to have some decreased performance when you go beyond 8 gabt of vram uh forcing games to sometimes have to access uh system memory or more realistically would just turn down graphic settings a little bit so again you could go with the 40 60 if you have to uh AMD uh has the 7600 XT for $320 to $330 um but and this does offer 16 GB of vram but otherwise actually often similar or less performance than the 4060 you still don't get uh uh you know the dlss upscaler and uh if you're going to go AMD route at this price point I actually think the 6750 from the previous generation from AMD uh is a better graphics card than amd's 7 600 XD at the same price point it has 12 GB of V instead of 16 but 12 is enough for 1080p gaming at any kind of settings you'd be using on these gpus and you're not running into the same issues you see on the 8 GB cards so I would uh recommend the 6750 XT at $330 um and then past this point uh you have the 4060 Ti from Nvidia but again 8 GB for almost $400 a few models discounted a little bit down to 385 or 390 is just way too much money for an 8 GB graphics card I can't recommend that uh they do have a 16 GB version but that costs 440 at the lowest and more frequently $450 or even more and the problem here is we're getting super close to the $500 price point where I just think there's much better options so uh if you are going to buy something closer to $400 uh amd's new Option the 7700 XD isn't great either while it launched at 450 it's now discounted as low as 400 or even 3.95 the problem with it is it can't compete very well against the uh amd's previous generation product the RX 6800 which is a 16 GB card so offering you four additional gigabytes of vram compared to the 7700 XT um uh but again similar overall performance so you get more vram about the same feature Set uh and uh about the same performance for a little bit less money so if I had to buy a $400 GPU new I would get this 6800 if you're in a part of the world where that is available to you but like I said I'm not a huge huge fan of anything in this price range now uh what I want to actually do next is jump into uh we saw this headline the uh 470 TI super drops to $750 I did check this out it is available it has been available for at least 24 hours now I can't tell you for sure if it's going to remain uh available at this price permanently or anything like that but I I do these videos filming what's the best pricing available on the day I am looking so the 470 TI super I actually think is extremely interesting at $750 uh the reason is the 470 TI super is the first Nvidia GPU where I feel like their full feature set is available without any real issues other than $750 is a lot of money you have 16 GB of vram instead of the 12 gbt you're offered at price points below this one from Nvidia AMD offers 16 gbes for a lot less um also the overall Ray tracing performance remember how I said earlier at the lower performance perance tiers I don't find Ray tracing all that compelling because I'd rather be turning down graphic settings to increase performance rather than turning up graphic settings to like you know do ra a lot of heavy duty Ray tracing lighter Ray tracing workloads aren't super compelling from a visual perspective in my opinion there are certain games where Ray tracing actually offers a transformative difference to the visuals these are games like cyberp Punk's RT overdrive mode or uh Allen wake 2 who's full Ray tracing mode where the the overall visuals of the game is is actually uh honestly kind of mindblowing but it just takes a massive amount of performance to get there and the 4070 TI super is interesting to me because it not only offers enough vram to do those settings at 16 where 12's pretty borderline but it also if you're using dlss at the Quality setting which does look pretty good at 1440p it can enable a almost is FPS performance in those Ray tracing modes with dlss quality if you're on a 1440p screen and once you're hitting in that 50 to 60 FPS range kicking on nvidia's uh frame generation feature does work pretty well to smooth things out in a single player game on a high refresh rate display uh frame generated frames aren't equivalent to actual frames in the sense that they don't increase the game's responsiveness and they can cause more visual artifacts but from a base frame rate of 50 to 60 FPS I think works very well and you will get a very good single player experience so with that being said at $750 I actually do think the 4070 TI super is pretty interesting especially when you compare it to nvidia's other offerings uh like for example going up to the 4080 super uh these are starting to be available at their MSRP of $1,000 I've been seeing multiple models in stock they go in and out of stock but they have been pretty available at this price now and they are currently but that's a $250 price increase or another way of looking at it is $1,000 divided by $750 is a 33% price increase for not 33% more performance and you're also still at 16 GB of vram there's no real feature set difference so that makes that 4070 TI super offer you almost the same experience for a lot less money and uh like I said still gets you that 16 gabt of vam and if we're talking going uh now I will give the caveat that I do think that uh for the path tracing experience the 4070 TI super is good for a 1440p screen running dlss quality if you want to be playing on a 4K screen for a path tracing experience I'm going to be honest I'm not personally happy with that below the RTX 490 and those are still closer to ,7 or $1,800 and you know so if you're uh more than doubling the price of a 4070 TI super just be aware of that you're not more than doubling the performance but it's the only one that's going to give you a nice path tracing experience at 4K in my opinion um but anyway that that's what I have to say about that so 47 ETI super I think is actually pretty interesting if it holds a $750 price point now you might be what about the AMD Alternatives so let's talk about that amd's most powerful GPU is the 7900 XTX that's currently available as low as $900 although more models are available at about $93 and okay well $750 up to $900 that is is paying a lot more money for the 7900 XTX the 7900 XTX is faster uh when you're not R tracing but it's not going to give you those kind of path tracing experiences so if that's what you're buying a high-end GPU for then the 4070 TI super not only saves you money but it offers you that bigger feature set now if you are looking more for rasterized performance then the 7900 xdx is offering you more performance uh than the 4070 TI super although keep mind you are pretty close in price uh you're jumping up $100 or less to the 4080 super which offers you about the same rasterized performance as the 7900 xdx uh but much better rate tracing performance and again those additional features set like the better upscaler with dlss the more widely available and I think better quality frame generator with uh with dss3 versus FSR 3 all all of those types of things um so again I feel like the 7900 xdx is in a little bit of a No Man's Land price point rise price point wise right now uh you could go down a step to the 7900 XT which is as low as $690 although more models are 700 or more 700 710 720 740 uh but again you can get as low as $690 and at $690 it's interesting but again it's only $60 more to get the 470 TI super which offers you very similar overall performance rasterized and a significantly better rate tracing experience and upscaling experience uh so with that in mind I'm not super compelled by the 7900 XT except if you're planning on playing 4K gaming without a lot of Ray tracing then I think the 7900 XT could make could make some sense there because you do get lots of vram lots of rasterized performance and FSR quality at 4K isn't too bad of an experience so you could save some money on a good in other words I think this could make a good uh it's not I hate calling it budget but budget 4K GPU uh if you're not planning on going rage racing at 4K which like I said below cards like the 4090 I'm not too compelled by like the path tracing experiences on all of those so what price point haven't we really talked about yet uh I mentioned that the uh $500 price point is where I think the new market starts to make sense again after that kind of dead zone in the 3300 to $500 Point uh the 7800 XT is available at $500 and I think it's pretty interesting here you get 16 GB of vram and a lot of performance and I would defin spend $50 more than the 4060 TI 16 gab to get the 7800 XT um however if you're willing if if you're not stuck at $500 there's some other interesting options the 7900 gr from AMD um is available for 540 although more models are at 550 and this gets you additional performance especially when you're Ray tracing because it has a lot more compute units although in rasterized performance it also gets you a bit more uh a bit more performance in the 7800 XT so I think if you can go up to 550 you're definitely getting your dollars worth by going up to the 7900 gr it's not that much more compelling than a 7800 XD price to Performance ratio wise but you you certainly are scaling fine if you go up to this point I will also mention that at $550 you can get the 470 nons super but honestly at $540 it's it's a bit weird you're up against the cheaper 7800 XT which gives you slightly better Ras performance and the 470s not an amazing Ray tracing GPU although it certainly can get the job done if you use aggressive enough upscaling whether that trade-off is worth it for you question mark you could think about it but honestly here you'd be up against a 7900 gr which in light rate tracing workloads where the 4070 is more at home the 7900 GRE competes fairly well uh and again the 7900 GRE is strong enough that especially if you're only doing light rate tracing or no rate tracing you might not need to upscale at all on 1080P or 1440p screens uh which again makes it a pretty interesting option uh so I'm not I don't really like the 4070 here I'd probably if I was spending this much maybe get the 7900 GRE or if I have to have an Nvidia offering um I would go up to the 4070 super the 470 super is available at $600 widely and as low as $590 and at 5 uh 90 to to $600 it's pretty interesting it still only has 12 GB of vram uh as opposed to to the 16 GB offerings from AMD however it's stronger than the 4070 nons super by enough that those 1440p rate tracing experiences with dlss quality or maybe balanced start to be somewhat compelling uh and again it's also going to be able to match the performance of the 7900 GRE for uh rasterized experience in many cases and again beat it in rate tracing performance and have a better upscaler so in other words I do think the 40 70 super is a better GPU minus the vram potential issue than the 7900 gr but uh do you have the extra 50 bucks I think if you do personally I would spend it on the 4070 super um so basically uh I think we should at this point kind of summarize the overall video although I should mention the 4070 TI nons super while it's technically phased out is still on sale and you can get them as low as $680 although more commonly 700 or 710 my problem with those is that uh they're not enough better than the 4070 super which is coming in as low as $590 and you still get 12 GB of vram so you're not solving that problem so I'd probably just rather get the 4070 super uh and save some money so at this point let's summarize the entire GPU Market very quickly with my main recommendations for the uh people who are buying a uh $2 200ish doll graphics card I think the 6650 XT is the way to go because you're getting um uh a very good 1080p gaming experience experience for 220 bucks hard to argue with that if you have to spend a little bit less I'd get the RX 6600 at $190 uh Intel does have some compelling options at these same price points with things like the the a750 uh but I I do think that amd's software is still more mature you're less likely to run into issues Intel has been getting significantly better at that but it's still not on par with AMD or Nvidia uh from a reliability standpoint when you just pop in any game and assume it will work uh so with that being said it's not enough better than a 6600 uh to get my recommendation over the 6600 with that uh convenience uh marked in past this price point I highly recommend the used Market checkout ja. and I can get you $10 off your first purchase uh using Code ow And1 follow the link in the video description Andor pinned comment because once again I really am not super compelled by much uh beyond the 6650 XT in the in the New Market uh however if you are buying new I like I said the the 4060 from Nvidia uh is something you could consider if you want to use dlss don't love doing it at 1080p but it's certainly uh something you could consider uh if you're going beyond that I think the standouts were the 6750 XT from AMD at 330 and then the 6800 from AMD at 375 getting you 16 GB of vram uh for and about the same performance as a 7700 XT more but with more vram and slightly less money uh the next GPU I'm actually kind of excited about is the $500 price point with the 7800 XT or going up to the 7900 gr both of those are about equally compelling do you have the extra 50 bucks speaking of having the extra 50 bucks though if you can go beyond 550 I do think that Nvidia starts becoming compelling with the 4070 super if you're not too worried about 12 GB of vram you're getting similar performance that 7900 gr when you're not Ray tracing better R tracing performance performance better upscaler so this is where I start to recommend Nvidia gpus and again from this price point on um I think the the uh standout was that price drop on the 4070 TI super well it's available at $750 I think you're actually starting to do 1440p dlss quality path tracing modes uh at at at reasonable experiences and getting that full-on feature set and going past this point I just don't think there's a uh you know the 4080 super is certainly better and it's a aable at its MSRP of $1,000 now but it's not 33% better for 30 33% more money so again I'm not saying don't buy it just saying I think the 4070 TI super at 750 is a standout deal if you're trying to get the full 16 GB of vram and the full Nvidia feature set then like I said the 4090 is the only GPU I'm really happy with 4K path tracing on uh but you're going to be paying out the nose to do it the $1600 one isn't even really in stock when you check the website they're really $1,750 to $1,800 minimum uh it is by far the best 4K gaming experience out there but um it's I don't know do you have the money don't go into debt to buy it or anything like that so that's the summary don't forget uh to check out java. uh and uh get uh $10 off your first purchase
