hi everybody and welcome to health by Philippa today we are washing some wolfram or fleece from Hercules he is a valley a black nose sheep I think he's about a year old and this is his fleece it's Ross it's not being washed at all and we're going to go through what to do to make it all lovely and clean so first off what wood is this is it in its natural state and I'm going to fill the sink with hot water now this water has to be so hot that it's going to hurt your hand to put it in hence I'm wearing a pair of gloves because that makes a big difference and makes it a lot easier for me I'm also using some powder washing detergent I find that to be the best one to clean things up so if you put some of that in do all the agitating now before you put the wool in you don't want to agitate the wall too much and you want quite a bit of water because you want the wall to have lots of space to spread out and move around so pop the wall in and then I know this wall and I know that it's okay for me to product quite a bit like this because I've done this quite a lot with this wolf [Music] say so product a bit and then leave it in there for 20 minutes and then come back to it don't leave it for too long there we go so 20 minutes later pull it aside and you can see how dirty the water is so we're going to let the water out and I'm going to put some more powder in and do it exactly the same again so it's gonna be two washes again I'm squeezing it quite hard because I know that this wall is fine with it I do it in quite small batches as well don't do too much at once otherwise it's not got enough room to move around in there so this is the second wash again really dirty it's up to you but two washes has been fine for me so the next one is going to be a rinse again in really really hot water and this is the rinse there we go see the water is quite clean now you could wash it another time if you think you need to but I know that these places were quite clean in the first place so I do give it a good squeeze out again I know this wall is fine with it and then I'm going to air dry it by putting it on the side you can lay it in the garden or you can just dry it on the side and keep turning it and keep turning it if you put it in the garden watch out doesn't blow away or all the birds don't steal it as well so there we go it can take quite a while to dry so once it's dry here it is I've taken it up to my craft room and I'm going to show you how we cut it and select it those are some of the darker bits and this is the end product and that's all the stuff I've got to do [Music] so it's quite simple you just grab hold of the ends of the locks try and get to the base and trim at the base the longer the locks are easier it is for you to work with and then put the ends all together in the same way round because it makes life a lot easier don't just put them in a massive pile and it just takes time that's all I can say and just be really gentle with it so here we go this is what I've produced with it Val a black nose sheep I was paying quite a lot to buy the wool all washed so I've saved myself a lot of money but there he is thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe and like if you want to see more videos thanks
