Today we are up on the St. Croix and I'll tell you what, last year you didn't get to see the show we came and shot here, because we got ice right after that, so we didn't run it, but it's a rematch here. We've Kent Anderson from Warrior. We've got Pat Brookshaw from Warrior, and our good friend, Brett King. You know, and last year, it was King and Shooter faced together, and of course Kent and I. And you know what? Kent, I'll let you take it from here. - Well, I think it was like 19 fish to five. - I'm glad you said that, right? I didn't. See, they're pretty quiet. - Every term, and it's the best five that come. Who had the biggest fish? - But we never went that way. - Oh, oh, yeah. - But I don't know if you had the biggest five. You just assumed you did. - No. - Well, guess what? It really doesn't matter, cause we won. We won. Right, and today is a new day. - It's your show. - And it is my show, right, so no matter what, we'll probably win. But we'll win the right way, right? - So leave it to the rematch, right? - Leave it to the rematch. - Fast forward to today, who shows up with live bait to a no live bait tournament? - Who said it was a no live bait tournament? - I think I can hear a bubbler. - We always have live bait. (upbeat music) Basically what we're doing here is we're pulling stick baits on three-ways. Gonna run two rods a piece, got a longer lead on that, cover your weight. Five ouncer on that. On a five foot lead, we're ready to roll. Hey, Kent, you might want to give Brett a call and see if we can start the tournament yet, because I got one already. Turn our tracker. They're putzing around at the boat lane. I don't know what kind of tournament fisherman putzes around at the boat lane. I'm more or less, let's just start catching some fish. That's a good sauger. You know what? This is a great way to extend your season, by coming out on these rivers like this, in Mississippi, the St. Croix, and that's a great sauger right there. Yep, you know what? I might keep some fish today, Kent. I don't usually keep much for fish, but I tell you, when you start looking at these saugers, I love saugers. Hey, you know, we're trawling about 1.2, 1.3, real slow, we're in about 30 to 33 feet of water, and basically, letting that three-way get that bait right down there, and we're only off the bottom with these Crane baits, probably less than a foot, and just moving slow. Nice fish to start it off. Hey, Brett, Brett! Can we start fishing yet? I think I heard him say yeah. (upbeat music) It's saying it's a nettable fish. Ah, flinger. Nice sauger, though. Gotta like that. Nice sauger. - Yeah, ah they feel big one, first one of the day. - [Larry] Yeah, certainly does. Well, I see you switched baits, too, huh? - Yeah, we're just moving things around, til we figure out what they wanna eat today. Ah, give us at least a pound. One pound. - [Larry] One pound. - So as far as we know, we got a two pound, seven ounce lead right now. (upbeat music) - Last time we were here -- - I think this is the wrong species. - You thinking white bass? - I'm thinking white bass. - Uh oh. That's a King fish. Brett King fish. Oh, no, a nice fish. - [Kent] Nice one. - [Larry] Better a net. Oh, you already got him in. A sauder, yes. - Well, if I was waiting for you to net him, we'd still be waiting. - Why does he always say that? I miss one fish one time with a net, and I still am hearing about it - I didn't say anything about you missing it, I just was waiting. - I know what you were saying. Is that the new bait you just put on? - Yeah, just put that one. - [Larry] Okay. And that's the key, really, when you're fishing. You're marking a ton of fish. It doesn't make a lot of sense to keep pulling through them fish, and using the same colors. So you're always changing it, adapting speed. What do you got? Over a pound? - 1.5 - 1.5. 1.5, let's keep changing them baits. (upbeat music) - He's trying to make me miss it. - You just started that everroot up, and as soon as you started it up, that fish hit. Feels like a good fish. We need this one, definitely need this one. Boy, I'll tell you, the last four, Kent, have come unbuttoned on me, and I thought this one came unbuttoned. Feels like a good fish. Nice sauger. You know what? You told me to put that jointed on, and I didn't believe you right away and I put on two other baits, and then I went to the jointed, and right away got this one. Nice fat little sauger. - That's gonna give us some pounds. - That's definitely gonna help us out there, but it is kinda funny, because you started that everroot up, and as soon as you started it up, whoop, got it. Boy, that one, now that's the first fish that's actually had that bait swallowed. 1.4, 1.4. Yes! It's amazing how excited a guy gets catching a one pound, four ounce sauger. (upbeat music) We need this one, buddy. - [Kent] (mumbling) is that? - A walleye, too. First walleye of the day. - [Kent] And a decent one. - It is a decent one. Now you were just pumping that back and forth, right? - Yeah, just sitting there working it. - Ooh, another fish right there, huh? - Yep. (upbeat music) - [Larry] Hey, guess what, Kent? I just saw our competition making a run. So they must not be doing too well. - We talked to them, and they had a few fish, and then we left, and they followed us, but they didn't stop. So I'm guessing they didn't catch any more fish there, either. - You know what? That's, uh, we haven't been here very long, and now this is the third fish we'd had on, and we got that one into the boat. - And that one, he didn't like -- - Wow. Look at that. That one's definitely bleeding like crazy. That might have to, we might have to keep that one. - [Dan] 1.12. - 1.12? (upbeat music) 1.12, you were right. Dan, Dan, the cameraman, the caveman is always right. - I'm gonna mark that one down, that he said that. (upbeat music) But yeah, do some fake net. - Do a high five. It worked. Got him to turn around. Oh, here they come. Yup, they're coming. (laughing) You know, that's something about fishing. Burgers' Smokehouse products, Woodman's, 10 to 2, December 2nd, Sun Prairie. Shotgun Shafer. (shotgun cocking) (sizzling) - Hey, Happy Thanksgiving, folks. Shotgun Chef Steve Shafer in the kitchen. Hey, everybody be safe out there, hunting season, it's Thanksgiving. I'm going lazy this year. Burgers' Smokehouse Meats called me up, said I want to try this. It's a precooked 10 pound turkey, it's been smoked. All's I have to do is heat it up. The family's busy. They're running around all day today. I am in the kitchen. I'm just gonna throw this in the oven for a couple of minutes. They said, 350, turn off the heat pretty much, and let it sit in the oven. They only want it to get up to 140, 150, somewhere in that ballpark, cause it's all precooked already. You don't wanna take the moisture out. Don't cook it, folks. Just warm it up. Make sure you get it around 140. So I'm gonna cut it open, put it in the pan, put it in the oven. I've got the oven preheated, I'm gonna turn it off when I throw it in. I already got stuffing, potatoes, gravy, everything started. It's supposed to be that fast, and family's all out goofing around, so I'm gonna put this in the oven, and hopefully they get home when it's done. Let's see how this works. Seriously, guys, Burgers' Smokehouse, I can't believe all the stuff they got. It's already in a, is that a netting? Look at that. They must've hung it up like that. Man, if you guys could smell that, I have to say it, that really smells really really good. I don't know what they smoke with down there, but it smells good. So that's all it is. 10 pounds, going in a pan, see if this lid fits on it, if not, it's gonna be like that. There it goes. We are going down in the oven. I'm gonna let it sit in there. They say about probably 20 minutes to half an hour. I'm gonna check it in a little while, but it's already cooked. They're just trying to warm it up, so it doesn't take the moisture out of it. See you in a bit. All right, folks, it's been an hour. Pulled the bird out of the oven. She's nice and warm. She looks good, smells good. Put a knife to her, see what she does. I'm going the easy route, folks. I ordered precooked, Burgers' Smokehouse. You look at the goodness, people? Look at that. One thing nice about being a chef and a cook? You get to free taste. That's good. All right. I'm gonna plate this stuff up. Family's coming home, go in the other room and eat, and say grace.
