[Music] you don't [Music] so so uh i'm just leaving mine head starting safe coastal path it's 630 miles to pool and dorset and i'm hoping to complete it over the course of the next couple of months and uh um for the time being i have a new traveling companion she's called skye she's my friend's dog and he's been kind enough to let me take her along on this journey so i think she's going to be great company and hopefully she will enjoy the trip as much as i'm going to [Music] it's the uh fourth day on the coast path um i'm probably about six kilometers sorry six miles away from kew martin but was definitely taking a turn for the worse sky and myself were absolutely soaked um i'm gonna push on through i'm gonna try to get to a little village on the outskirts of ku martin where we've got some old friends you are home fantastic skye we have a bed i mean sky i've had a terrific day [Music] we've done about 10 miles we've just made camp in a beautiful spot um just a couple of miles away from lee bay so that's in a stove there just across the estuary it's appledore uh unfortunately the ferries are not running because of the virus now involves five mile detour down and around the estuary me and scott are on the way to bucks mills uh this morning where we're gonna meet up with a buddy of mine called charlie and uh we're gonna zip back to my house and on the outskirts of exeter spend the night just do a quick repack and uh we can share some items so there's gonna be two of us now uh continuing on the trail and uh yeah let's see what happens [Music] [Music] so we've just come home for 24 hours just doing a quick repack and we'll be back on the trail again [Music] tomorrow well we've just made camp at a place called mouth mill well at least we presume it's mouth mill we're not 100 sure but we reckon it is it's a fantastic evening um one of the reasons i zip back to my home address was to change my kit and i got a smaller tent a one-man tent and uh trouble is it's gonna be a bit fun because sky has already made made us safe completely at home in my one man tent so where am i gonna sleep sky good morning morning sky come on come and say hello oh come on say hello [Music] oh hot sand on toes coats and sleeping bags i come to know that memories were the best things you ever had the summer shore beat down on bone and back so far from home where the ocean stood down dust and pine and water last night uh we were speaking to a local fervor down the trail and he uh recommended us this gem of a cove just kind of hidden out the way um because they actually someone's made a little hut here which you can take refuge in bad weather and uh fantastic little camp spot so we've and there's also water here so we've spent the day washing our clothes just relaxing eating plenty of food and watching fantastic and beautiful sunsets [Music] oh [Music] is uh we've got a small problem uh poor old sky's gone late sky come yeah poor old girl she's i've checked her foot over and says she doesn't seem to have anything in her foot she's just eating a tea um so yeah it might be a muscle thing so which case uh i might have to phone somebody tomorrow to come and pick her up because it won't be fair for her to keep going but we'll see in the morning [Applause] okay so i knew the weather wasn't gonna last forever and uh it looks like it's broken now and the weather forecast looks like it's gonna be really bad weather for at least another three to four days uh the joys of camping in the rain um i've just pitched my tent everything's soaking uh it's gonna be a wet and probably a miserable evening trying to sleep in this because most of my stuff is all damp and wet as well charlie's already hibernating in the tent if he's brave enough he's going to show me his foot did another 15 mile day today [Music] they're not terrible but so just for both nails how long have gone black here this and this one too is the fat actually looks quite painful so we'll see how we go tomorrow it's not so bad when i walk it's just after a certain amount of miles they get a little sore good night charlie last night we got into a small community called pending um and we made camp at what we presumed was an abandoned mine uh but it transpires uh this morning we found out it's actually a tourist attraction but so far so good we haven't been asked to move on so um hopefully no one will see us we're kind of tucked out of a way and because it's got such bad weather we're gonna hopefully keep our heads down stay here for a day and then disappear tomorrow morning well last night week i had another fantastic campsite and today it's another beautiful morning the scenery here is just amazing past land's end yesterday which was quite a milestone so now we're kind of on the on the homewood stretch as you would say let's say we're still not even halfway um i've been doing now just over two weeks compared to johnny's well i think jordan's going a month now from us um and uh you know at that sort of two-week mark we did about five days at 15 miles a day and my body was feeling it both my knees my ankles my feet everything was in pain by the time we finished um each day and it was it's been tough i won't deny this kind of moments when i really thought that it lands in i would call it a day and uh and head back to kind of civilization just to give my body a rest but now we've cut it down to kind of 10 12 mile days and that really does make a huge difference on the impact of my body so now we're enjoying it again and then when the sun's out too it's incredible it's just such a beautiful area and looking forward to seeing what's in front of us [Music] this is what happens when you get lost are you sure this is the right way mate definitely [Music] [Music] well you can probably see johnny behind me making camp for the night just outside mousel in this kind of a little boardwalk area as you can see it's very small and right next to the ocean as well one nice to see here [Music] okay after arriving at the hansel marshall rather late last night we couldn't find anywhere to sleep so we ended up sleeping at the end of the break water and uh i confess it wasn't the best night's sleep but uh it was somewhere to sleep and now we've got a terrific sunrise to watch how did you sleep charlie in and out really there was some beautiful stars but not a lot of sleep and i put the sun first from this morning and now i'm a little achieved well at least it didn't rain [Music] [Music] we'll just walk through the sleepy hamlet of port hello there's a marker there to indicate the uh halfway mark of the coastal path so we have 315 miles to go [Music] well the weather changed was pretty quickly it went from beautiful sunshine to a little drizzly to just this complete white out everything is grey [Music] well we've been going for five weeks we've just made camp tonight on a headland a couple of miles away from austral um yesterday was torrential rain today it's kind of been overcast with quite a few showers so we're really soaked and our feet are i've paid the price really because they've been wet for two days last night all our gear was uh pretty damp um so hopefully gonna dry it all out tomorrow because it's forecast for sun but yeah our feet have been hammered today and i'm just going to show you charlie's and my feet which are not particularly attractive they feel okay but they look like you know oh actually they're not don't feel like gosh let's have a look at the nails and nails again like they're sort of um okay-ish don't [Music] sadly after a month of traveling with my buddy charlie um he's on his way on the way back to the big smoke up in london um rather him than me thanks so much for a fantastic trip and i'll catch up with you later on down the line excellent cool buddy [Music] [Music] hey my coastal path is just getting better and better uh just arrived at the stunning village of pole perro and it is just picture perfect stunning little village [Music] i [Music] [Music] when a tough day probably a 20 miler or near enough close to it uh i set out from rain head this morning and uh gone all the way around plymouth and i've now just made camp and my reward is to watch a beautiful sun set fantastic day i absolutely love the mornings it's just beautiful walking this time of the day just watching the sunrise it's terrific [Music] yeah that's beautiful [Music] come and go [Music] well i'm well and truly endeavored now the uh terrain has definitely got a little bit easier but it's still absolutely stunning scenery um i've just walked around uh this corner i'm just on the way to uh sulcum uh about a mile and a half two miles to sulcum and just come across this beautiful cove here i mean i don't think you can get much better than that i'm really looking forward to this evening because uh two weeks ago my firm arrest mattress decided to uh delaminate so it basically turned into a massive balloon and just horrendous to sleep on anyway i sent an email to firmarest and they've been good as gold they've sent me out a new one in the mail and my nephew was kind enough to drop it off to me this morning so uh tonight i'm going to have hopefully a really good night's sleep i'm on the way to um i'm on the way to dartmouth now uh sadly it looks like i'm heading into some bad weather um i spoke to some people down the road they said the forecast is not looking very good for next few days thunderstorms and maybe torrential rain oh joy [Music] uh yesterday i had the task of following the coastline from uh through to painting and now i'm in torquay but there really wasn't anywhere to camp or to wild camp so i ended up treating myself to a bed and breakfast which was fantastic and so i feel a lot cleaner basically the first bed i've slept in for nearly seven weeks i think [Music] what a day there's absolutely torrential rain i was camping here last night well the weather has definitely taken a little bit of a turn for the worst um it's slightly raining a lot um i'm at a little village called uh star cross and i'm hoping to catch a ferry over to eczema um to continue my journey but thankfully uh a friend of mine is gonna put me up for the night at eczema while at woodbury and uh at least i'll be in the dry video footage is uh kind of a bit deceptive i don't know if it really kind of if you can appreciate how actually how far and how steep these hills are in um south kevin i'm just on a segment now from seton to lime regis it's a segment of approximately five to six miles long and it's called the undercliffs it was about 100 years ago in victorian times a massive section of a cliff gave way in a big landslide and kind of made its own ecosystem over time all the trees have taken over and bushes and stuff and uh yeah it's just an awesome awesome [Music] place [Music] [Music] i uh generally don't get too concerned about the storms but uh i must admit this one is getting quite uh lively um yeah storm ella so be interesting to see what happens uh in the morning on the news whether um yeah it's quite strong and uh yeah hopefully there's not too much damage around the southwest he's pretty ferocious after the storm last night [Music] just i'm just sheltering here uh in the lee of this obelisk uh on the coastal path i've just passed weymouth um last night i had to um wild camp in the center of weymouth in a park because um i got smashed by a storm real torrential rain during the night and very very high winds and the winds are still going now thankfully the the rain stopped many hours ago [Music] it's day 57 got two more days left on the trail i got this nice big obstacle to get over this morning apparently there's two or three really really steep inclines um one of the hardest segments on the whole trip is right at the end before i reach pool somebody's calculated apparently on the internet uh if you had all the ascents on the whole journey it's equivalent of walking up mount everest four times so yeah there's a lot of ups in this trip and it's quite tough going but uh only two more days and uh sadly my journey will be at an [Music] end [Music] sadly this is my last night on the trail i've got a fantastic camp spot i don't know if you can see the tent behind me i'm right on the cliff's edge with a basically a million dollar view to wake up tomorrow morning i think i've been walking for one month and 25 or 26 days uh i will have completed uh 630 miles and that's it my trip is over he's just coming to the end of my long distance walk along the south coast i'm heading to safe haven point now about two miles away and uh that will mark the end of my trip web is just coming in a little bit bad now but hopefully i'm gonna miss the worst that's it for me uh that sign marks the end of my trip [Music] so me [Music] do [Music] bye [Music] [Laughter] [Music] you
