i'm gonna take you to isaiah chapter 40 verse 31 and when i finish reading that louie's going to attempt to let me do it on my own but he makes me sound better when i read so we're going to keep louie can i get amen isaiah chapter 40 verse 31 let's put a grand finale on this edition that's been all about power isaiah 48 verse 31 says and you may be able to finish this you may be familiar with this they that wait on the lord will renew their strength they shall mount up with wings like eagles they shall run but not grow weary i ain't figured that one out yet they shall walk and not faint lord speak to us because there's some central promises right there the promise is that you would renew your strength i want you to imagine if you received brand new fresh strength yes yeah you know a lot of the anxiety and stress you and i feel is when we battle ongoing issues with yesterday's strength you may be single and trying to live pure and your complaint to god is god you ain't seen this new one i've been pure for a minute but wow right and if you try to operate within the principle of being pure before the lord according to scripture but you have a 10 year old strength you may not be able to complete the principle for which you set out to complete so i think it's crucial to really think about your life not in yesterday's strength but in new strength new power tomorrow's assignment requires tomorrow's power you need new strength everybody say new strength louie thank you so much my man i'm gonna try to take it from here renewed the second promise is like eagles scripture promises there's a promise that you would mount up with wings like eagles to live like eagles when you think about living like eagles i think it's less about the wingspan of you know six to seven feet it's less to do with the miles per hour of you know they travel an average of 50 miles per hour i think it's less about that and and more about the perspective of an eagle to live like an eagle you know your attitude will change when you fly at a different altitude well let me walk it out for a minute an eagle lives life most of its life at ten thousand feet i want you to imagine the difference if you walked into the promise that god has for you what if you lived your life at 10 000 feet not that you don't come down every once a while but what if you could embrace this promise and you could think at 10 000 feet imagine the perspective if you could see from 10 000 feet imagine how many distractions you and i can avoid if we were always able to see the destination you know the difference between a buzzard and an eagle is the altitude a buzzard gets distracted and in fact a buzzard is attracted to every fight that is bloody smelly and full of disease a buzzard is attracted to everything that goes wrong and so they never can see the destination why because they don't think high they don't fly high and god is calling you up i wonder how much more power you could have with life i wonder how much quicker we would get to the place that god has for us if we didn't get stuck down in every little viral hole if we didn't get a lost on every rabbit trail if we didn't get so consumed by every negative comment if we didn't get trapped into every conspiracy and every time there's bloodshed we weren't attracted to it the difference is flying like eagles this is a promise god has for you god doesn't want you involved in every single fight that happens on the ground you're you're meant to fly high there was a theologian who wrote about it he said i believe i can fly now that brother was not a theologian but you know what i mean yeah god wants you to think different this is miracle mindset this is about changing your mind some of us our anger our absence of joy peace and love is because we have been taught to think like a buzzard put out fires for the rest of your life and god said you got to fly higher than that i don't get involved in little bitty fights that aren't consequential to the mission why because god is bringing us up you'll know this in leadership with your family if you get involved in every little fight on every little hill you will never see the mountain and god's promise is i'm trying to mount you up where are we at early 2000s regulators mound up hey that's an old rap song i'm sorry that's the second promise the third promise is that you would run and not grow weary imagine that imagine that imagine that you could run hard well i thought the bible is all about rest now let's run and rest it's run and rest he said run as which to to get the prize the high price of the calling of jesus christ has like you need to run but isn't one of the great tensions in life is like how do i run hard without being exhausted come on man you know this too right you know like i want to run hard in business but i want to be a good husband i want to how do i know when i run too hard at work then i'm not going to be good at the house come on ladies you know this how do i know to run too hard at business and then and then maybe i'm burned out with by the time i get home and i can't be a good mother this is one of the great tensions what is interesting is all of it is solved by the scripture that there's a promise that you can run hard without getting exhausted how many people ready for that one that you can pursue life with an unction and an energy and somehow have an endless gas tank oh i see a six-pack on me already come on somebody i want you to experience this scripture is not just to be read it is to where it is to own it is to become the new identity so i really want you to embrace this is not a message this is a mandate okay here's god is saying i want to renew your strength i want you to mount up with wings like eagles i want you to think higher see farther i want you to run and not even get exhausted what's the last promise i want you to walk forward without fainting yes what's the difference between the run without growing weary and the walk without faint running is about speed and going forward walking is about the valley of life where we spend most of our time walking forward faint means giving up imagine that there's a promise that no matter what you go through no matter the adversity one of the promises is you will be able to move forward and you will not give up on the wrong thing [Music] for some of you this is a game changer because some of you are afraid of of your kids when they become in high school because your parents gave up on you your junior year because things got rough some of you are afraid of marriage because you're afraid you're going to screw up a good thing and a scripture is hey if if you figure this out here's the promise the promise is i'm going to move you forward and you are not going to faint hey entrepreneur god told you to start the business his promises you're going to move forward up and to the right you're going to walk this thing out and you're not going to give up on it what reassurance anybody else afraid of messing something up can i tell you you are not big enough to thwart the plan god has for you if you're standing in the promises of god now what's interesting about this is these are some ginormous promises renewed strength living like an eagle is that eagle that's like a hawk no that's a hawk too i'll just keep going running out grow weary that's a good promise walking off these are great promises here's the problem with promises promises are not gifts that are automated for your life if that was true none of us would be weary none of us would be involved at the buzzard level none of us would be out of energy and none of us would have given up on the wrong thing but you and i both know that is not necessarily a reality because promises always follow a principle promises of god over seven thousand we're just talking about four they follow a principle so i want you to look back at the scripture i don't always want to give you the application you may never learn to think and you are smart and god has given you a brain so that you and i could think and free will to choose and to choose with wisdom so go back to the verse for a second and i want you to look back at it one more time and you tell me where the principle is you see these four promises what is the first thing that if you get that thing that answer that key that all the others make sense to get this power it's one word see if you can find it come on online see if you can find it put it in the comments if you see the lord you see four that down oh a little praise in perrier hey this sounds like the tight picnic i want to be on okay oh some of you are gonna love this a fresh never written him before journal with your very own zeal pin i think i'm getting this whole power thing i'm just going to find my spot a little play setting and my park my journal wait on my mill to spend some time with the lord is that okay with you because this is just what i've been needing david what on the lord they that wait he lies me down in green pastures something like that okay i was scared to death i was going to fall i don't need a meme of humpty dumpty pastor so god has some promises amen amen he has some promises but they they come after waiting on the lord so i'm gonna set up my place i'm just gonna wait on the lord speak lord your servant is listening i'm gonna get a devotional get a podcast um yes lord wait on my mill i'm gonna wait on the lord i'm gonna find a podcast did i mention that because i need to be fed and just want to wait on the lord and if i don't like that podcast i'll just find another one that confirms the word i already wanted so i just whoa i'm talking to you though you know it's the people that go oh that listen to seven podcasts you want a word there's 66 books in the bible a whole lot of words right there come back to the picnic come back to the picnic 10 45 you're awful hey stay focused here is my fear i think it's a possibility that many of us have been taught to just wait on the lord come on go there pastor my fear is that this is how many of us are sitted this is how many of us are living it is what i call picnic christianity my place my time my zone and it's comfortable my journal my quiet time that's what waiting looks like and can i tell you something picnic christianity has no power how will my strength be renewed from here how can you fly like an eagle if your lifestyle is laying down spiritually how will you ever run if you are laying down how will you walk without feigning if you're laying down see the picnic christianity is not what was meant in isaiah chapter 40. but it's confusing the reason that it's confusing is when i look at the box and i begin to think about the things in my box this is what made sense right like if i see a journal and if i see a candle and if i see a fresh cold perrier and a glass and i see a napkin for my food and if i see a plate it looks like a picnic so when i'm unpacking the principle based on my understanding i end up sitting in a place that eventually looks like frustration because i'm waiting on the promise of god but i have misunderstood the principle of god so i want to teach this morning a different way to wait in fact the title of the sermon if you want to understand the title is wait it's not what it looks like you ever have somebody say well wait wait wait wait wait it's not what it looks like if you want to understand the principle of god if you want to understand wait it's not what it looks like for a second let's let's go back to the word of god and let's look at scripture because if you misunderstand the principle you'll be frustrated because you never receive this renewed strength you'll never get above the buzzard lifestyle and think and live at an altitude that lets you see vision and if you don't have vision you cast off our restraint and you run wild and if you don't learn how to run without growing weary you will blame every season of life on burnout but you just misunderstood the principle you may never learn how to walk forward and not give up you may press eject too soon and it's all because you thought you were supposed to i'm just waiting on the lord i know just listen i'm just out here in these streets waiting on the lord go back to the scripture real quick go back to the scripture go back to the scripture what does it say see this made most sense but what does the scripture say isaiah chapter 40 says they that wait on the lord they wait on the lord pastor you already said they wait on the lord would you just tell us what it means well the hebrew word here is kava kava kava they that kava on the lord will renew their strength live like eagles run and not go worry walk and not faint kava you know what kavanagh means it does not mean i'm just i'm just going to wait on the lord it means to be an eager watchman it means to watch with anticipation it's like when you're in sports and you're supposed to be in position you're ready for the ball it means to watch with eager expectations one version means i'm literally bound together i'm not waiting i'm bound to something else that is happening interesting let me show you something else because if you get this principle you get the promises and my gosh i want you to get these promises what does it say they that wait on the lord notice it does not say those that wait for the lord look at it it does not say those that uh what are you doing uh just waiting for the lord those that wait on the lord grammatics make grammatics are a big deal here waiting for the lord is very different than waiting on the lord see because you may never experience the power of these promises if you don't understand the principle of what waiting actually looks like if you get it it will unlock a new strength a new perspective a new amount of energy and vitality towards the life god has called you to live it's different what if you changed your mind today what if you looked at this word wait with a brand new lens and realized it was not waiting for the lord it was waiting on the lord oh ladies and gentlemen this is all the difference in the world one is a picnic the other is a position here's what if what if you thought differently about waiting on the lord what if what if you thought differently about unpacking the principle what if you said i'm not waiting for the lord i am i'm not waiting for the lord i'm not waiting for the lord i'm just it's no no this isn't a napkin for me no this is different yeah that that little journal that's different maybe maybe this was never meant to be a napkin maybe maybe maybe there's a difference maybe maybe it's not waiting for the lord maybe it's a whole different type of weight maybe waiting on the lord was meant to be something else maybe all of these promises don't sit on the shoulders of a position that's lying down and just waiting for the lord maybe it's not waiting for the lord maybe it is waiting on the lord maybe it's less about my dream journal important do it but maybe this weight is different maybe it's less about the 99 things i want and maybe it's not about the orders i'm giving but the orders i'm yes sir um can i get your order oh you want me to be nicer to the people that can't do anything for me yes sir i think we have that you don't want me to be short with my boss because you're trying to do a work in him that i can't see yes sir we can do that you you want me to do what you know the nice restaurants if you ask for something they they don't have if you say can we have can we have that gorgonzola cheese on the filet i've done that before you know the difference between good restaurants and great ones you know what grace great restaurants say the great waiters say oh do you have that sir we do now i know i've never done that before i've never cooked that before but you want it yes sir um maybe maybe it's not about maybe it's not about maybe it's about others maybe maybe it's not waiting on the lord as a picnic but maybe it's waiting on others i wonder what would change in our life if we begin to understand the difference between waiting and waiting i wonder how much more energy because in this position i'm both resting and actively resting see you can go on a vacation and call it rest but because you were at a picnic it never empowered you because picnics don't produce power god wants you in a position of both rest and rejuvenation and the way you get there is from his orders [Applause] let me take you to a new level you know what scripture says about his orders if you're gonna fulfill his order you know what he said he orders your steps if i learn to wait on the lord if i learn to wait on the lord if i learn to take out my my pencil and my pen if i learn to take his order what i realize about scripture is his order is my steps so if i can put myself in a new position a different type of waiting i will get to every place i've been trying to go by myself if i can take his order it's about waiting on the lord you can stop playing down and get in position to wait on the lord do you understand the difference here one is a laxadaisical christianity that will lead to entitlement and then frustration because we thought we were supposed to lay down you cannot fly on the ground you cannot run on the ground you cannot walk without fainting if you are in the wrong position perhaps god has all of the power that you need on the other side of switching your position what if you change the way you thought about waiting and in life what if we learn to serve his table i wonder how many wrong turns and u-turns i would avoid if i would take his orders instead of bringing mine to him and asking him to bless something he never initiated wait wait on the lord my second job was learning to be a waiter i was a waiter at um generations it was called four generations restaurant and this guy taught me the difference between a good waiter and a great waiter is how you eagerly watched out of my peripheral i may be going this way but i never take my eyes off of the king at the table i'm always moving through life noticing that my main job i'm not here for my money i'm not here for my position i'm here to serve and to wait on the lord and as i wait on the lord my bills are paid as i wait on the lord i am sustained and affirmed in my position but it's not about building my own table as much as it is not wait on the lord wait on the lord today god is calling you to a new position you've been begging for strength you have been begging to think at a different level you have been begging for more power to run without always getting burned out you are have been begging to move forward through adversity without fainting and god is saying it's simple baby all you have to do is wait but it's not that type of weight if you will wait my table i will work on what you have been worrying about everything that you need is at the table of the lord so if you're taking notes write these two things down remember what go ahead and write these down i didn't work on this all week so you could just listen oh jesus i work too hard for you to sit up in here and watch write this down it will help you tomorrow can i get amen oh jesus lord first one take his order take his order put his and then underline his underline that thing his order what is god saying god still speaks he has this new thing called god cast it's dope it's called prayer it's when you're listening to him and god cast is better than any podcast if you have friends ask them what is god saying he has this thing called gps god positioning system it's scripture you want a word there's a bunch in there 66 books [Applause] when i wait on the lord i'm saying i will not move i will not fulfill my own order because i'm waiting on the lord learn to take his order his order yes your table is fulfilled yes your steps will be fulfilled but your steps are his order so take his order if i do not take his order i will take my own and i will take many wrong steps and have many of life's u-turns simply because i've not learned to wait on the lord wait on the lord wait oh lord you have a new job you have a new job you have a new position congratulations today you just got promoted to some it just looks like serving but to the eagle it looks like soaring to some it looks small but to god it is strong you say that doesn't make any sense that's why jesus christ is christopher exemplar you know what that means the great example of someone who left the luxury of heaven came to earth took his robe and wrapped it around the central part of his waist tied heaven's ties and sat down as a servant why because god wanted somebody at the table so just like jesus we have to take his orders i imagine in heaven god sat down at the throne and said holy spirit show up for a second you're going to go later jesus you're first i've got a job for you it requires humility but the dream us three have had for a long time is only fulfilled if you grab the apron you grab the luxury of this throne room put it in the box and learn to serve because we want a family and we want people to sit around at the table and jesus accepts this position serves the table so that you and i now sit at the king's table so god's calling and responsibility is the same learn to take his orders learn to have an unapologetic yes you can hear from god you can hear from god take his order if you do not have an order do not serve the mill it's his order well i don't know if i like it loud like that if he likes praise loud it's his order see how simple that just got i don't know if i want to give that it wasn't your order it was his you serve it how he likes it amen the second thing is you serve the table serve his table you serve his table everything that will ever happen positive for your table will come by serving his table those that wait on the lord serve his table surface table this is why as a church if you'll notice this so much of the preaching and teaching and the driving force behind zill are getting you to move go back through all the sermons realize everything that we do because i believe that the fundamental foundation of discipleship is purely movement it's movement it's keeping you moving because sheep that settle settle so it's keeping you moving that's why twice a year we have an offering why because i don't want you to settle into just the normal rhythm of tithing because that's easy it takes no faith we teach that unapologetically all the time the principle of first why because it will affect your life like nothing else some of you are so worried about your time if you would give god the first of your day the first if it's a tithe the first of your time you would find out that you have more time than you need yes why because when he takes the first he redeems the rest so when we talk about tithe the reason you would take the decimal point and take 10 of your income and first give it to the lord is because he promises to redeem the rest some of you are worried about money that's why he has the tithe because then he becomes responsible for it a tither doesn't get all been out of shape when they wreck their car they're like god it's yours fix it you're gonna have to make something happen it's not mine it's yours that's easy but an offering oh that's service because it's a little ambiguous you have to figure it out you have to watch you have to listen for his order it's not just calculable and offering grades against the pride and forces a sense of humility and this is not my table it's not my account it's not my kingdom it's not my status god calls you to a higher level of living eagles it's their table so june 20th you have five more weeks to just continue praying why because i felt the spirit of god challenge our church that we have a new responsibility with all of this growth in the month of august we are going to go 100 miles an hour towards letting every person in the city know and feel that no matter what you've been through there's a seat at this table and you can do this hey single mom you can do this hey kid you're a junior in high school and you're like you don't know if you're gonna make it you don't know if you add up and you don't know if you've got and god told us to tell you you can do this and i feel things all in my spirit about the people around here who don't know they have a seat at the table they feel guilty they feel shame and they don't know there is a seat at the table that they can sit down they can do this they can have purpose i think about the single mom that lays their head on her pillow every night wondering if this god who's invisible is actually real and he needs us to be the hands and the feet of jesus so waiting on the lord yes you're going to get strength yes you're going to live like an eagle yes you're going to run without burning out yes you're going to walk and not give up on the wrong things but it first comes with can you serve somebody else's table on june 20th it's an offering that's different than the type which means for five weeks you're gonna have to learn how to take his order you need to pray things like god if i had all the faith in the world and i would say yes to you in order to tell our city with projects and buying cars for single moms wiping away medical debt throwing student services and paying for gas for a year for people that are around us that don't have the finances helping people realize the invisible god is visible he has hands and feet he has a body and we're in and we love you but we're never going to tell you what to give that's why it's hard tithe is easy an offering is hard because if i told you what to give that's manipulation it's unscriptural so you have to talk to the lord we unapologetically say something like that because it's good for you to live for something that's not all about you it's about his table and who would have thought that the highest level of living you will ever have is when you actually serve somebody else's table even the most liberal sociologists on planet earth say for whatever reason the most highest level of living is when you live a transcendent life and all the christians are like duh scripture says that so for five weeks you need to go in your prayer closet with your family and say god june 20th i want to give the type of offering that is sacrificial that actually feels like service because i want people to experience when we meet their need we point to the savior and we're going to tell our city you can do this and we're not going to be cheap about it and we're not going to be lazy about it because we're going to be responsible for this great move of god and we're not going to be so consumed with our own table and our own zeal pen and our own zeal blanket with our own candles that we forget we are about the table and the people who are not sitting at the table just yet yes sid it is a word all the english majors like he's right and the person next to his judging i said sit it twice it's a word here's a challenge here's a challenge can you change your mind about how you think about waiting like now now can you think about your life at a new position not i'm just waiting on the lord but but think about yourself like this yes sir what would you like i will not make a move i will not make a meal without understanding yes sir what would you like that is the secret to the promise it is not weight on the lord it is weight on the lord if you're thankful for a new way to think why don't you stand and give god some praise
