I own a Volvo S40. It is mostly from the Ford era of ownership and is reliable and cheap to maintain. I still see plenty of them on the road.
I appreciate this because I've been volvo-curious for a while.
I appreciate hearing the background and reasoning behind choosing this over alternatives. It's great to see what someone who has driven everything on the market spends his own money on.
I love a clean car, and I love keeping detailed records of my maintenance history. I completely agree with putting the money in up front for tint because it's something you enjoy the entire ownership. Ditto paint protection, but $49.99mm is too rich for me
Doug DeMuro is going to cum in his cargo shorts when he sees that Volvo warranty.
Damn that warranty is incredible. Is there any other luxury manufacturer that offers something similar for their CPO vehicles?
I know SG mentioned that it was a long ranty video but I enjoyed hearing the details of how he chose the XC90 and what he likes/dislikes. The paint protection portion felt like I was getting called out lol, I was getting quotes for ~3k for just PPF and tint - didn't even ask about a ceramic coating after seeing how much it would cost. 3k+ out of pocket on something that doesn't impact performance just didn't feel worth it...I would rather get a really nice set of wheels/tires for that money. Maybe it's time to re-evaluate...
I'd rather much have a car that is more reliable than have a warranty that lasts super long and is prone to issues. Nothing is worse than to have a car back in the shop. Its the biggest buzzkill. I always see people here talk about how nobody cares about reliability yet I can promise you every person who says that has a warranty lol.
The orange peel on that Volo is really bad, its crazy that so many cars have it now.
I just don't understand how "don't buy it out of warranty" is acceptable these days. I always thought cars should be a worthwhile long term purchase or investment you can keep for decades with some extra maintainence. Planned obsolescence or just overcomplication has ruined the lifespan of some cars.
Looking at a Stinger for a multitude of reasons. But the 10 year warranty is top of the list of pros
Geese report pretty much matches what I expected from newer Volvos. There's still a lot to like and it seems the B&W is an audiophile delight (I enjoy the detailed graphs he puts out).
As he said, I wouldn't really consider a Volvo especially with the complicated T6 twincharger & Recharged PHEV drivetrain without some sort of extended warranty policy. There's far too much to go wrong here.
I get why he went with the XC90 all things considered, but if visiting the dealer frequently scares you, there is a RX 350 with your name on it.
