oh you need a bath hi everyone welcome back to my channel I'm Jennifer glad so if you can call me Jen I am a musical theater performer and a voice teacher and yes I know I know it's boxing day but let's still we could still do a Christmas video right I mean I I I'm saying it's allowed it is boxing day today the 26th and on the 26th I will be gigging and I probably will be singing The Last Christmas songs for the year so you know with the band so I'm yes we're doing this reaction and Analysis video plus I have been meaning to do it this month and I've just kind of Forgotten until I was filming just today uh and I realized this was very very very heavily requested last year and yeah last year so I need to do it now as you can see from the title this will be voiceplay You're a Mean One Mr Grinch I cannot wait and this will probably have to go but before we get on to the reaction and Analysis video just want to remind you that this is a reaction and Analysis video so I will be stopping and talking about the vocals that's what I like to do over here we liked nerd about the voice and you've clicked on a voice play reaction and Analysis video oh this is featuring um Adriana okay with arts and exhaust wow [Music] it's disgusting I think we're on the cameras are rolling yeah here we go come on one two [Music] [Applause] [Music] good up on that F already with the bass there from Jeff that's like hi you can hear that kind of like change in frequency um I'm loving the little character and stories as always with voiceplay so much fun gosh this makeup isn't right Jeff has arranged it so you know he's giving himself that hmm up there um yeah I just love this kind of welcome [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] oh you just had to ruin it didn't you such a grinch um we had a from um Adriana that Chris a little bit it felt like you could hear that change in quality as well uh which I don't know why we went for a kind of a closed crew Chris just drop that jaw just open it kind of felt like she was fighting a bit against the sound um but where is it going now [Music] change you're a bad banana greasy black piece okay it's so so much like so tricky to stop this one uh because you don't want to for starters and Toes just say what's going on I love that build up of gray gray Grinch we'll go up to that point because they they were not the notes I love that we uh you know it's the base that has the tune in this one because it just gives it a bit more of like a Eerie kind of like um kind of cheeky kind of vibe which is really nice and we've kind of gone back to the story here which is cool because I was like they went through all that effort with the makeup um that's fun [Music] and it's kind of really empty at the beginning until we get the the kind of uh Crescendo on that oval just then and then we're all in [Music] so who's on the base there when Jeff's on the vocals um [Music] Adventures [Music] where did whoa I think that we'll go back to it but I think Jane did a lovely kind of descending chromatic skill that was nice um I like the short Mr off Grinch like it just gives it a kind of like jolted Vibe um like unstable uneasy sort of vibe which is nice [Music] okay [Music] oh and it's it's interesting kind of going back to this was two years ago I think so yeah it's interesting to see because from two years ago to now how much obviously Jaden's not in the group officially but I know I've seen some like shorts that he's done uh with the group still um but it's interesting it's interesting to see what kind of roles they still play Ellie's just come forward now with a bit more of that grit kind of rockier sound which we are kind of becoming used to or I am anyway with his the with their more recent stuff but yeah lovely riffs and Agility on J nun so smooth [Music] oh classic voice play with that syncopated [Music] oh oh that drop from Jeff stunning as always just like so thick and just nah good yeah I love how free Ellie's voice always feels as well and that kind of just rockier kind of grit in there he's also holding on to the first part of the diphthong so diphthongs being when we say for example the word I we've got ah E I always go to the word I as an example so you may have heard this before but when we say the word I we tend to have an R an eval some accents might not but we tend I there's two kind of vowel sounds on that one word so if you go back to the word spider spider how how would you say spider spider but Ellie's kind of going spad Spa on that [Music] your brain is full of spiders [Music] [Music] so I'm pretty sure this is their second um cover their second song with Adriana their first one being frozen which I have not reacted to but I have watched and obviously I've reacted and analyzed good for you over on my channel so do go and watch that if you haven't watched that already but it's nice to kind of see the progression of her voice I feel like there's kind of a tendency to kind of get that tongue involved a little bit in her vocal line here but she is like super talented because she's quite young I think as well I'm not really sure how young she is here but let's just look at that ascending light she's kind of getting a little pinch here which sometimes that pinch helps with that twang in that brightness but I feel like it's kind of followed with a little bit of a lifted kind of tongue placement at the back that's that kind of closed feeling of sort of getting and there's a very just talking about something else the bv's there there's it's so fast uh I think they're ascending as well but they're individual good [Music] there's that's that's so fast it's so nice [Music] you have all the all the services [Music] oh where are we going now uh those intervals that Jeff had to do on the bass line really cool I love when he spoke there he kind of didn't sound very bass like at all and given the choice between the two and the two I'll take this easy [Music] kind of like a half time kind of section there just so slightly just so slightly just ever so slightly where are we going now [Music] coursers [Music] oh that Rhythm very syncopated nice um and called him notice on that open that C sharp from Ellie a lot more softer than we've heard him uh kind of like in recent videos the quality that was going for smashed it put on him kind of keeping more head dominant there [Music] hello oh rude oh um on max woof you're pathetic [Music] I love the fun and the story of it all it's so visually entertaining you're pathetic [Music] you're just not very nice cool here um Adriana's really really lovely and connected and a really really lovely and clear as well it just what I was talking about before just tends to happen on those higher kind of damn yeah right around her first passage those would be flat just there so it's just like something and it's just interesting because I didn't pick up on it on good for you so maybe it's just through the progression of like uh working on a voice that we've kind of lost that tension which is lovely [Music] that's so funny again with these intervals with Jeff nasty what does he say yeah [Music] okay just real quick I know just pausing that sorry E flat there really breath LED from Adriana here and it sounds so smooth and effortless as well right where she grabs hold of these notes back down she's back in her chest voice and she's grabbing hold of that and not just kind of making everything really breath-led [Music] the three words [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] I'm gonna say that um to myself you need a bath it's real groovy it's kind of it's like it feels like it's just sitting under because that's what's keeping this kind of like Smooth feel it's really nice [Music] [Applause] statements and brush your teeth [Music] [Applause] oh nice where's Lane going now that was really lovely so bv-wise backing wise we had that first little section very staccato like short and snappy then we went really smooth and really kind of played to that as being the main difference of the two sections obviously we had a little bit of a writ as well which is just where everything slows down so it's really highlighting that [Music] and obviously a key change which highlights everything [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] you know I've got a fun story I've actually done that once flip to the table um I'm gonna leave that story there and you fill in the blanks maybe if I'm brave enough one day I'll share it's not very nice story because I I didn't why would I do that to food I love food love to see this side of Lane like we've been seeing it more and more maybe it's just purely because of the ones that I was reacting to before didn't showcase that but I love it because it's just kind of ever so sorry I hit the camera get so excited with my feet yeah it just gives like it's just so nice seeing him like this as well because you know Lane is providing such great percussive uh you know beatboxing as well so it's nice where he gets to kind of come out of that and talk or like act and have fun not saying that he's not having fun when he's doing what he you know the beatboxing but it's just nice seeing different character stuff from him and then we have lovely Jeff on these big notes it's so lovely look at that open like mouth position drop of the jaw just getting as much projection as we can obviously I know this is pre-recorded but it's really really nice and lovely to hear like the bass singer do that because you're again it's that shock shock Factor yeah it must be doubled but lesser open up B4 up there from Jeff whoa and you can hear it's not like thick and heavy like he's reaching he is gloriously in his mix wow there's so much wine in there to keep that resistance [Music] and then notice uh yes they're two different notes but also they're in two different parts of his voice yes that sounds obvious but I also mean thickness of his vocal Folds One is not as thick one is thicker and one is in his pure chest voice and one is in a chest dominant mix inviting lots of head voice [Music] Mr You're a mean one [Music] that was so fun I just want to go back here those lovely kind of things happening in the back whilst Jeff was doing his wonderful thing but let's break that down that was so much fun I read in the comments there that you know the Grinch doesn't actually hate Christmas he just hated people so good oh what did uh was Ellie and um Adriana on that one [Music] oh that's so groovy [Music] like kind of like ah well we kind of staying on the same note but ah like you are kind of hitting the nope underneath and bouncing on that one so fun so fast [Music] I love so we're calling response and they're like You're a Mean One You're a Mean One You're [Music] so G You're a mean one then You're a Mean One You're a mean You're a mean one yeah [Music] ah then she goes then they've returned back to their first Army your remain One You're a mean one you're a man then back up there so kind of get a moment of oh then it kind of goes back [Music] [Music] [Music] because it just it gets a lot darker on an e down there nice [Music]
