Vocal Coach/Opera Singer REACTION & ANALYSIS Floor Jansen + Henk Poort "The Phantom of the Opera"

welcome back to the charismatic voice today I'm gonna be reacting it to flow Johnson and Hank port singing the Phantom of the Opera duet this comes from the best isaiah's show in 2019 now I heard Fleur for the first time just about two weeks ago and that was when she was singing ghost love scorer with night wish the bunch of you recommended this duet to be the next one I listened to so uh I've never heard her do anything but symphonic metal and I'm really excited to see what changes with this style so let's get to it [Music] [Applause] [Music] oh cool I love you guys she's adding like a rock style on top of this it's so awesome she obviously has an immense amount of control over her vibrato and her tone quality that was one of the things that I noticed in go slow score was just how many different colors she could really paint and it's so evident in this opening rate she's telling his story and she sounds haunted but she sounds like she kind of likes being haunted it's really really cool to hear her go through all of those possible tone qualities and one of the things I found interesting is that she started this hire and a lot of times I've heard women start at lower that's partly because it's easier to get words out in pronunciation when you're lower but she starts it up high immediately with a lot more power which was cool and it was still super duper clear awesome choice [Music] [Music] okay his voice it's it's such a contrast to her in so many ways right that he has a much more I would feel like continuous he's going for a more continuity in the sound where she's going for different colors and kind of weaving in and out he has so much legato he sounds like he sounds like he's done more opera in some ways but he just also has like a mocha like a warmer zone where she's able to really dip into just tons of different sounds also that moment at the very end it was like so creepy but fun [Music] [Music] [Music] hmm I would have liked hot favorite things that she's doing are these operatic port eventos I don't know why but I'm a sucker for that that's when you do a slide but you add a little vibrato in it too so you can just go like ah and that's just a straight up slider you go oh and if you have a little bit of shimmer and vibrato in that still for some reason to me that makes me shiver I love it and she did it at least twice as gorgeous [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] whoa didn't expect that [Music] okay perfect and waiting for [Music] this is hard [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] okay that's one of the legendary hardest moments in musical theater Phantom of the Opera is not an opera it is a musical for all those who are like yeah I heard an opera once I went to Phantom of the Opera for people that sing opera like me that's like no that's a musical that's a musical ok anyhow this moment at the end is really really difficult to sing it takes so much control and the woman who was playing Christine she has got to be able to have a lot of volume and color in her lower voice and have extreme control on top so let me trick to something I think that they were doing it a key lower from normal that might have just been because they were looking for more of a rock sound but let me check this at the end I think it's normally a high [Music] [Applause] [Music] much Shiva makes it sound a little crazy with that hard-on says the trip [Music] [Applause] so that's it that doesn't sound like it's a hard note for her to hit either she really she's probably got another and guessing at least a fourth on top of that that she could hit and that's before she would even switch up to whistle she's really really really good um I want to go back and catch also right before she did that I loved her expression in the low notes right but the way she's [Music] that's she sounds so real she's so convincing in the way that she delivers it's not um it's not somebody singing really pretty notes and that's pretending to be another character it feels like she's embodying it I would love to see her do this entire role but let's finish it one more time [Music] [Applause] really good tune [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] love it everybody hey that was awesome guys things she is such a versatile singer like she just knocked it out of the park on one of the most difficult musical theater passages that exists but also she can seem symphonic metal with night wish and I want to hear her sing some opera -
