Vivek Ramaswamy Goes Off On 'Secular Cult' Of Identity Politics In Speech To Iowa Voters

good to see you guys good to be back in Iowa it's been a sixth trip in the last few months and I love you guys because you're not afraid to actually ask the hard questions so I'm gonna be hanging around after we're gonna make this more of a conversation but I want to kick this off with I'm gonna have a little fun today a little bit of a mystery story we're not going to be angry we're going to figure out what's going on in our country right the mystery story we're going to talk about today is why we see the rise of different secular religions in America right at the same time in our national history the first secular cult we see in America is this new Dogma that says your identity is based on the color of your skin that if you're black you're disadvantaged that if you're white you're privileged no matter your economic background or your upbringing your race governs Who You Are and what you can achieve in life it's what Don Lemon told me on the stage when before he got kicked off out of CNN the last interview he did with me he said that you can't say it if you don't have black skin now good news for him is they canned him after that that was a good that was a good result from that interview so I was happy to play a role in that but it's not just him right this is a pervasive Dogma in our culture congresswoman Ayanna Presley of the squad she famously said it a couple years ago when she said we don't want any more Brown faces that don't want to be a brown voice end quote now I don't fit her description of what counts as a brown voice but there's a really toxic philosophy embedded in there and it's this when your race goes from being about your skin color to being about the content of the ideas you're allowed to have than any disagreement with those ideas automatically makes you a racist and there is no greater damnation in modern America than to be called a racist so when given the choice between pledging allegiance to this new religion and being tarred with that Scarlet r everyday Americans are choosing to bend the knee and that's created this new Culture of Fear in our country fear of losing your jobs if you have your kids getting a bad grade in School fear of becoming an outcast in your own community so that's the first of these secular Cults in America I could go on about it but I'm going to make a point here there's the rise of a second secular cult right at the same time this is the cult of gender ideology this one says that there's so many little letters in it lgbtqia they just put a little Plus at the end of it so many other letters to keep track of this one says that the sex of the person you're attracted to is hardwired on the day you're born yet now your own biological sex is totally fluid over the course of your life these two things can't make sense if you're applying logic but if you're subscribing to a secular cult then you can believe these things at the same time now right at this time you have the cult of gender ideology of racial wokism now we see the rise of this new cult now this one looks like it's here to stay unless we do something about it and we will that is the climate cult in America all right that is this new cult that says we have to stop burning carbon here in the United States or carbon emissions of any kind that we have to adopt electric vehicles at all costs even as we ship those same carbon emissions to places like China that doesn't make sense if supposedly you're addressing global warming the same cult is hostile to nuclear energy the best known form of carbon free energy production known to mankind this is the question here today is do you think it's a coincidence that we see the rise of these different secular religions at the same time it is not these are symptoms of a deeper cancer in our country and I'll tell you this in a very personal way I'm 37 years old I am the first Millennial ever to run for U.S president as a republican okay thank you I appreciate that and and I'll I'll tell you something speaking as a member of my generation we are hungry for a Cause we're hungry for purpose and meaning and identity at a point in our national history when the things that used to fill that void things like faith patriotism hard work family these things have disappeared and that leaves a moral vacuum in its wake a black hole in its wake and when you have a black hole that runs that deep that is when the poison fills the void it almost doesn't matter what the poison is wokeism transgenderism climatism covetism globalism these are symptoms of a deeper void of purpose I spoke to actually the faith and freedom group a little while ago the Coalition I'll tell you the analogy I used with them is we're like a bunch of blind bats we Millennials are I think it's true of all of us actually we're flying around in some cave trying to figure out where we really are how does a bat figure it out doesn't have eyes it sends out sonar signals bounces off the wall it comes back and says this is where I am but we human beings we Americans we do the same thing we send out a signal it bounces off of something that is true something that is fixed say my family the two parents the mother and father who brought me into this world the children who I brought into this world with my wife that is real that is true that means something to me that bounces back and says this is where I am bounces off my faith in God that is real that is true that bounces back and tells me this is where I am bounces off my conviction in this nation that I'm a citizen of the United States of America not some Global citizen somewhere that that means something to me that bounces back tells me this is where I am I work hard I create something in the world I'm proud of that that is real that is true that bounces back and it tells me this is where I am well what happens when those things disappear we send out these signals and then nothing comes back we're lost in that desert and that's where our movement comes in This is Our Moment to ask conservatives As Americans to rise to that occasion and say we're done running from something now we got to start running to something what does it actually mean to be an American that is what we need to answer in our movement what does it mean to be an American it means we believe in the individual the family the nation and God the things that actually made this country what we really are the principles that set this nation into motion 250 years ago radical ideas like Merit and the pursuit of Excellence that you get ahead in this country not on the color of your skin but on the content of your character and your contributions that is what it means to be an American thank you and that is why I've said I will end affirmative action in America that has been a cancer on our national Soul the president can actually do it thank you what does it mean to be an American it means you believe in the rule of law that if you're like my parents you could come through the front door legally if you want to follow the rules and pay your taxes you can come through the front door but it also means that your First Act of entering this country cannot break the law because that is what it means to be an American and why I will use the military to secure our own Southern border instead of somebody else's border somewhere else Halfway Around the World we will use our military to secure our own border means you believe that the people who we elect to run the government ought to be the ones who actually run the government not this managerial bureaucracy that runs the show today that if you put me in that white house I'm your next president and can't collect a paycheck for more than eight years which I think is a good thing then neither will any of those Federal bureaucrats reporting into me either eight-year term limits for the bureaucracy instead of civil service protections that's what it means to be American thank you and you know what the next time we have a government agency that should not exist like the U.S Department of Education we're not just going to Tinker around the edges we will shut it down because that is what it means to have three branches of government not four right these are the basic rules of the road these aren't Republican ideas or democrat ideas these are pro-american ideas and if we ReDiscover who we really are we have the spine to actually do this at home then we can actually stand up to the actual threats we face on the global stage and the top of the list it isn't in Ukraine it is communist China that is our number one threat that we face in the next entry and I've said as the U.S president the next president has an opportunity to do what Thomas Jefferson would do if he were alive today I will sign the Declaration of Independence of our Century it is our declaration of independence from communist China total decoupling we are done with it and I think that we have to have the spine to actually stand up and do it we can do the easy stuff abandon the climate cult that shackles the United States while leaving China untouched we can actually hold China accountable for unleashing hell on the world with the covid-19 pandemic using every Financial lever we have available but I'm going to be honest with you we're going to have to go further and do the hard things the hard things are telling the CCP that you will not buy land in this country you will not donate to universities in this country if you're affiliated with the CCP we got to go the distance and say if you're a U.S business doing business in China you will not expand into the Chinese market until the CCP either Falls or reforms itself we will export our Second Amendment making sure you want to deter them from going after Taiwan we will tell them you know what we believe in a second amendment in this country guess what we'll put a gun in every Taiwanese household train them how to use it that is how you make Xi Jinping think twice we gotta think on the time scales of History instead of just the time scales of election Cycles but I will be honest with you I will not give you false promises some of these things will involve a trade-off it'll involve some short-run sacrifice we have to be very honest about that now here's the secret in geopolitics it's when you're most willing to make a sacrifice that you don't have to wake make one at all we need to think a little more like Churchill a little less like Chamberlain that's what we need in our foreign policy is some strength but it will require some sacrifice but here's the truth we can make these sacrifices if we know what we are sacrificing for that is this thing we call America God grew up into a generation where we were taught to celebrate our diversity and our differences so much that we forgot all of the ways we are really just the same as Americans Bound by a common set of ideals that set this nation into motion 250 years ago I believe it deep in my bones that those ideals still exist we are going to have to work together all of us to actually revive them e pluribus unum we say for a reason from many one that is the dream that won the American Revolution that is the dream that reunited us after the Civil War that is the dream that won US two world wars and the cold war that is the dream that still gives hope to the Free World today and if we can revive that dream over group identity and victimhood and grievance then nobody in the world not a nation not a corporation not a virus is going to defeat us that is what American exceptionalism is all about and I promise you that is what we together will revive to save this great nation thank you all Iowa thank you all
