so all right let's let's let's return to monkey so i played uh monkey ball i didn't do a review on it um sega sent out codes which was very nice of them i'm trying to use a gamecube controller hang on a minute um and i what i did was i did a preview i didn't do a re review i did a preview and i thought that the game was pretty good in my preview there are some some things we can talk about i may also need to uh i also may need to lower the volume why is the gamecube controller not working i have a plug oh man [Music] can anyone confirm wait this game isn't out yet right [Music] i don't mind the song the game's out in like a week right hang on yeah gamecube controller it it like vibrated but [Music] maybe if i turn off this controller how uh usb oh okay hang on a minute change grip order let me just try a gamecube press a when ready we'll close that and we'll go back into monkey ball gamecube controller baby notched buttons sorry i mean notched um analog stick that'll be helpful so this game uh monkey ball is a bit of a tradition it's one of my favorite series i thought the preview was pretty good i only was able to give you like 10 minutes of footage but um we'll talk about it there's a couple things that i'm not crazy about but there's mostly things that i am very happy with for example these are good levels this is like good monkey ball not poop monkey ball um i think i deleted my uh [Music] my file oh wait no i didn't i still have it look at that i have our doctor hell yeah um i'm gonna start with super monkey ball one challenge mode and we're gonna just start with casual here are levels i don't really remember um [Music] vinnie i think your mic is peaking a bit is it really because i've been having some some issues with my microphone lately is it does it sound ready that's kind of loud it's been peaking recently okay you know what apparently during castlevania that's also been an issue so let me double check something here device properties oh no wonder the microphone level was up uh this should be good ever since the bird noise how's this is this better because it should have been down at this level instead um it was at a hundred percent then it was being compressed i thought the person that was complaining about my microphone in castlevania was just like complaining for the sake of complaining needs more warble filter so the game has a slightly different feel to it [Music] liam triforce did a good review on this and from what i played of this game i agree essentially um the original monkey ball had a very specific kind of feel to it and this one changes it a bit like for example the the stage doesn't rotate violently like it used to [Music] instead it takes a second for it to get there which means that your controls also a little bit different i don't think it's bad i'm gonna get used to it or try to at least we'll see how the [ __ ] do you get that down there oh dorslessness it's let's just say this as liam said in his video speedrunners people that know this game really really really well are gonna be pissed because their shortcuts aren't going to work excuse me i'm all right but it seems like it's a perfectly competent engine for this game it's just a little different and that means that there's going to be new strats oh god so so people that like really play the [ __ ] out of monkey ball are gonna have to get used to uh some changes but overall in my first play session with this game and one and only playstation with this game i liked it speedrunners haven't been pissed at this game they're loving it oh good that's great i just think um i noticed enough of a difference monkey target was something that i played in the preview and i failed over and over and over and over again and one of the reasons i failed is because they changed the physics for that too so there's some changes um but overall it is a solid game and the switch version seems to run really well [Music] as you can see and um god after the dumpster fire of the previous monkey ball game thank thank you jesus thank you jesus that we're getting good monkey ball again the only thing that's missing is the extra lives but you know that said i can deal you know you you still waste your time when you fail of course um and monkey ball 2 did not have a life system in its story mode anyway so i'm okay with this it would have been nice as an option but uh you know sega didn't want to have lives and honestly most games seem to be moving away from lives so you know also for those waiting on the cyberpunk finale i haven't brought myself uh i can't bring myself to to quit keanu ready [Music] just give me a little bit more time maybe maybe next week maybe the next time i stream [Music] um also the reason i'm playing monkey ball even though i've had this code um this has been on my switch for like two and a half weeks mocking me with its smug aura is because there's an embargo that's a cool noise that's a cool computer noise that i thought i turned off [Music] all right [Music] do i know where the bastard sleeps in night city i brought him down [Music] okay so bananas the banan's are used to unlock uh cosmetics which is a good use for them truthfully you have to get all the banan and then live otherwise oh you lose the banana ready [Music] oh i'm feeling a little dorsless right now [Music] i uh i watched the movie free guy because i was looking for foundation and i couldn't find it on the plex that i use and so i watched free guy instead with ryan reynolds and uh ready um well here's the thing about it turn your brain off turn your gamer brain off it's a perfectly acceptable you know just stupid like ready player one uh action comedy thing i think it had some fun moments that made me laugh a couple but gamer brain will hate this movie [Music] ready [Music] the solar car i made was in that movie and it had to be shipped to the studios at a chat member what a small [ __ ] world yeah there was a couple things that i liked most of it though i just kind of winced i got to be honest i liked taika watiti he was funny in the role a couple times but his his whole thing was just um oh god i think it was intentional it was intentional cringe and it wasn't really working for me and i love that dude ready i don't know man um yeah it was okay-ish but then again lots of stupid things happen there was a couple cool references but not enough like there was a portal gun reference there was um a couple surprises that i i guess i'll just spoil spoiler alert to alert for the free guy movie marvel and star war [Music] and there was a mega buster um so there was a couple couple of those things in there and it wasn't nearly as referential as a ready player one type movie but [Music] yeah it's just the the inner workings of the video game thing if you if you kind of play games and you know how things work a little bit you will just be like this is [ __ ] [ __ ] man [Music] that's why you gotta you gotta turn your um your brain off a little bit but i would just recommend not watching it so that way you don't have to turn your brain off ready that's an easier solution i don't know some people might like it i i uh i guess i was hoping for more but then again it is just like kind of a run-of-the-mill ryan reynolds vehicle so [Music] if you like that guy you might like the movie i don't know that's my review oh [Music] speaking of movies i'm waiting for that tony soprano movie which is not about tony soprano it's about christopher moltesanti's father [Music] maltesanti in italian means many saints true story the movie's called the many saints of newark i hope it's not [ __ ] yeah might be [ __ ] but i'm willing to uh i i want to see it that in dune i'm looking forward to and james bond movie um i've read some things about it because i no longer care and i still don't care so i don't think i'll be seeing it anytime real soon maybe one day but i still i couldn't finish spectre i started watching it i got to a certain point there was like a reveal and a couple things happened and i was just like ah i'm good still haven't gone back to it [Music] hurry up [Music] so uh will you [Music] they did a pretty good job with just packing this full of [ __ ] like a monkey if a monkey was in a ball [Music] let's be honest it would be full of [ __ ] [Music] i just unlocked sonic the hedgehog [Music] i'm going to unlock a banana cap going to unlock a shirt of some kind [Music] banana shirt [Music] feet shoes wait roller skates also a new paul thomas anderson movie trailer just drops looks all right it's called licorice pizza which i found as a record store i thought it was really about pizza that was made of licorice and i wanted to die when i heard that but um yeah it the community has compiled some some good corruptions for me to check out [Music] wow that's the power of monkey ball i'm not planning on 100 in every level i just wanted to do that one so i can lock unlock more they call it drip did you ever hear about that drip it's because um when you wear it you're dripping with style is that not what it means ready go i don't know [Music] well i mean people always want me to play sonic games and i keep refusing but but hey look you get classic ring noise you get sonic [Music] ready something [Music] weirdly enough he looks pretty natural i mean small but natural in this game like he's a a good fit for the monkey ball series i still think diddy kong would have been an excellent [Music] addition but if if sonic is whoms i must uh get as a replacement then sure classic sonic is pretty small oh you know i'm still um i have my my list of my favorite albums and i still haven't finished it because i have i'm having a really hard time choosing albums over other albums so you know one one day one day i'll finish that [Music] watched a good documentary about alien it's called memory i think came out two years ago and it's about the movie alien the making of but also its influences from um john carpenter's early stuff to obviously hr gigger to lovecraft and more interesting and weird documentary but i learned things about the alien movie which i have never which i have never learned up until then [Music] if you can find it i think it's just called memory the making of alien [Music] it's pronounced geeger yeah i thought it was geiger like geiger counter but apparently it's hr giger like a geezer ready [Music] also another thing every now and then i'll throw on like while i'm driving without the video um a youtube video where they cover an iceberg and this one channel has been doing icebergs of like final fantasy 6 7 8 9 10 oh god these numbers are confusing me [ __ ] three two one and they're they're pretty good videos nothing terribly deep or complex but they i sometimes he just like the channel just explains what the thing means it's like there's no additional information ready like me i need a little bit more than that i remember this level i remember this [ __ ] level oh god i remember are those textures crustier than they used to be yeah sure okay [ __ ] that [Music] whoa ready i remember my best friend at the time had this game [Music] right i didn't i didn't have monkey ball one i had two and gamecube was brand new and i remember checking this level out and we kept going for this one whoa [Music] and we wasted all of our continues but there's no lives in this one no i don't want a helper i need to buy jump i need to buy rubber baby buggy bumpers to complete this level ready go fall out oh okay let me see let me see let me see let me see what can i do here what can i do here right again i'm using a gamecube controller so theoretically if i set this up just right i can just hold forward and have it do else but apparently it is now more difficult to um get skeletons for halloween and there's like they're being sold out and like scalped skeletons don't have scalps yeah that was i should have thought because you actually have control you know what i don't like that you can't see if you're getting a mondo ring or a regular ring i don't like that like you have to get real close to determine whether or not that is in fact a mondo ring sonic the hedgehog here remember to practice eight seven what sonic what do you want me to practice your cocksmanship remember to practice abstinence what shall i be abstaining from sonic skeleton manufacturing is real no sonic would never would never try to preach to you about skeleton manufacturing trust me i know sonic we we've been homies for a couple years a me mario now i'm just kidding that i'm not gonna be doing my real voice but uh there's a voice you'll have to wait we italians we we really you know we need all the voice roles we can get truthfully i feel like there's a limited market for us italians we got um italian oh we got italian mobster we got streamer we got someone who's really into pastries uh what else do we have as italians not a whole lot so i was gonna say like a cartoon like plumber man has always been one of our our highest honors i'm telling you when when i go to italy they they have statues of mario all over they have parades in the streets whenever a mario game comes out they they make the world's largest pizza every year and they add a little bit of circumference to it every single time [Music] so you know i can't say i'm 100 thrilled about crisp rat when there's plenty of italian-american voice talent [Music] such as uh uh [Music] peter capaldi wait no um [Music] hurry up that's right danny devite eight seven six danny david ready all right this level is going to be a pain in the ass [Music] [Music] here we go here we go here we go [Music] okay i've got 30 seconds ish to do this part now [Music] whoa see that hang on a second vinnie did you see that i have to scroll up ign gave this game a 6 out of 10 because it was too hard for them did anyone like check that editor's work and say wait listen mate you know reviews are one thing like yeah sure you want to be a little bit you want to you know put your personality in your review but a game being too hard is is not a reason to give it a 6 out of 10. [Music] [Music] i mean it really doesn't matter what the review is it's just you know you have to make up your own mind on whether or not you want to play the video game and if you like it reviews are only really useful for if you don't know that you like you see a game you're like is this game going to suck i have 25 dollars in my pocket do i spend this 25 on you know this thing the monkey ball or do i spend it on um i guess drugs so you have to make up your mind oh that's a yellow submarine look at that and i don't think any one review is ever enough for that kind of thing you kind of have to you have to kind of compile a number of reviews and maybe some people that aren't paid reviewers that are just playing games for fun on the youtube or on the internet and then you make up your mind so yeah ign saying that the game is too hard [Music] i guess who cares [Music] oh monkey ball can get hard like that's the thing it someone said it doesn't look too hard but no it really this game especially in the later levels can get to torturous levels of difficulty but that's why they remove the lives [Music] monkey ball is designed to be a difficult series but also it's cute and there's monkeys and and that that's what makes the bad bees play and then the babies grow hair on their chests and then soon enough the monkeys ready and the babies are indistinguishable [Music] fall out ready go go but half the fun of monkey ball is trying to figure out interesting and quick ways to like finish a course like i just did there [Music] i love that you can approach levels with different strategies and sometimes find a really good speed run tactic there was that one level from my super monkey ball 2 playthrough that took me what like an hour just because i wanted to cheese it and get a really good um time on it hurry up ten nine eight seven [Music] ready [Music] so the music i think is different this is maybe monkey ball one music or references monkey ball one music i'm not sure but i think it's a new soundtrack [Music] these are new tracks and remixed so there's probably a lot of music in this game then i remember monkey ball 2 music very well ready go good i'm just happy that the series is back because this the series lied dormant for a while and um one of the things that really sucked was all the gimmicky monkey ball games that came out in between two and this like the 3ds one i didn't think was terrible and the wii one you know it had motion controls and then they re-released the wii one last uh last time without motion controls and it was worse somehow i don't know how they manage that it was like an impressive type of terrible some of it was fine some of it was fine at least [Music] but yeah monkey ball um this series has had some some weird identity problems and not finally we have here a specimen of monkey ball game that brings us back to basics and ready i think it's great i think it's great that this is happening because it means we may get new ready a monkey ball game with with new minigame too not old mini game remix with different physics [Music] [Music] i had enough of that [ __ ] [Music] oh my [ __ ] ready [Music] fall out wait wait wait blur bridge and i'm the blue blur park live [Music] i do notice once in a while the frame rates do get to a little stuttery moment and i'm like wait why it's so minimal it doesn't happen enough but it does happen sometimes [Music] it's not too bad it's very very very infrequent mostly though this is a very good version of the game and it's portable fall out how does it look in portable mode oh i haven't checked [Music] i'm sure it's fine but i'll check it out at some point ready fall out apparently the stutters happen less than portable okay remember to thank square for the code you know what sega in their embargo never once says you must remember to thank sega at least once every 25 minutes [Music] so i have my issues with sega and i'm sure a lot of sonic fans have their issues with sega too but um i gotta say ready they are very good to [ __ ] dumbasses like me however one thing i am upset about is that i've noticed that certain youtubers that review video games and such got a [ __ ] crate of monkey items hurry up like they got a full crate of cool monkey products for free i just got a code which you know [Music] sega i demand that you more free stuff no here here let me use my one wish for good let me use my one wish for good sega please skies of arcadia bring it back do what you did here for that i don't need a monkey crate i'm just messing around i already am very lucky i don't need monkey crate but i need skies of arcadia ready [Music] i do have the skies of arcadia vinyl that they just put out of the soundtrack that is now one of my treasured possessions i got it before it sold out [Music] another unfinished sonic game got it yeah [Music] sega's really listening so i am doing very poorly at this level the skies of arcadia hold up today i think it does i like 50 mini games and like eight of them were good it's quantity over quality they call that [Music] we don't we don't need you to say hit every time hit reload reload [Music] oh got some slow down but when the game first came out i played it several times and uh it was it was fairly enjoyable custom robo i didn't have um so once someone is posting a bold and brave opinion that the world is not another one toadstool tour that one was great fantasy star online i guess that's not really just like you can play that co-op but oh f-zero f-zero x uh gx excuse me was definitely played even though truthfully i couldn't really play that too much with people because um i had gotten good at the game and anyone else that played it like at my house did not know the levels so they kind of got smoked problem with that i had two game boys so i could do co-op with that game but i never finished it yeah four swords and uh crystal chronicles every now and then that game got busted out for like a couple weeks and then it was put away i was really hoping the crystal chronicles port was gonna be good and i actually up until this moment forgot that it existed i don't understand square i really don't sometimes they do such good work and then sometimes it's just like poop [Music] oh you want to make all the games good [Music] [Applause] like they could have done so much to to make that game rather i go back to talking about horny sonic the hedgehog fans no so anyway the pog sock you can even have multiple pog kits so that you could um share it with a friend or pog multiple times in a day diaper chief that would be me snake so here's what they did with the cutscenes i gotta be honest the monkey ball 2 cutscenes are so much better [Music] it's honestly just a shame they could have literally just recorded gameplay from my videos and put them on the screen and that would have been better because this game does a lot right ready and i'm really impressed with various aspects of this um re-release but i get that monkey ball isn't the heaviest hitting franchise and maybe they didn't have the budget or the team to remake every cutscene but i don't know there's a couple things just a couple things that i noticed that i'm like and you know i'm a bit of a die-hard monkey ball 2 fan on some level i like that game better than myself so i tend to notice when things are not as good [Music] [Music] yeah they wouldn't even uh exactly they could have just taken the cutscenes from the game [Music] upscaled them in dolphin recorded video footage from dolphin and then put it in this game and no one would have questioned it you can't upscale an fmv like that they're not fmvs they're in game in engine cutscenes so you just load them up and dolphin [Music] one of the big improvements though is that you can rotate the camera so someone's saying that sega games are usually 40 bucks and go on sale fast that is a good thing this game is 40 bucks and on sale if you could find this game for 20 bucks [Music] i would absolutely recommend it like wholeheartedly to anyone for 20 bucks for 40 bucks make sure you like bananas and monkeys and balls [Music] because you may enjoy this but you might not also be into monkey ball but for 20 bucks that's a lot of content and a like a pretty safe purchase that's why that castlevania collection having so many options and like extras and four games three of which are great one is one of those three is amazing like classic two are great one is pretty good 20 bucks is not a bad price point for that plus a full in-game encyclopedia art soundtracks it's like damn konami actually put out a really good collection [Music] no no it's the queensborough bridge desert ready and that was a norm a norm bit rest in peace norm wouldn't mind uh i wouldn't mind seeing but overall i'm pretty happy with this game and i'm gonna be playing more of it and uh i will definitely stream or make video stuff of more of this game because i'm having fun with it i think it's safe to say monkey ball is back and i also would love new monkey ball in the future [Music] so i'll take it doesn't have to be perfect it just needs to not be [ __
