the irony of that too is like the real buyers of hip-hop are like white people you're not a hit until they streaming your music problem i see producers don't know how to work the room like you can send beats all day you're sending emails all day but if you're in that studio and you're a [ __ ] weirdo [ __ ] not gonna want to work with [ __ ] tv first of all i'm tweaking out gotta respect the streets my [ __ ] like look man gonna do no work i want to get half the split i heard that right welcome back to another episode of the podcast man so listen hey switch it up on y'all last week we had well ivory scott we had a songwriter but this week had to put a manager on here so we got my boy verse what's up with you yes man appreciate it it's a blessing to be here man i love y'all podcast thank you appreciate that we got jb in the cut you already know that's good so i mean let's go ahead and start it off if you don't know who versus man this is a well-known manager he managed chi chi a lot of other producers he managed my boy ryan inspired a spider there's a whole bunch of people got his own clothing brand just it's a business man you feel me so i don't know how you want to start you want to start off with the grammys you want to start off with that heart what are you doing let's get started with the grammys let's talk about that how was that experience oh man that was a blessing that was like it was eye-opening to be nominated like two nominations and to be on the red carpet and be around that energy and the vibes and it really changed my life it gave me like a purpose like okay i'm headed in the right direction because it ain't it ain't easy but like once you see like the rewards from what you've been working on it's like dang it like hit you different so it was just a blessing that chichi got nominated so thankful for like walter jones and her we got nominated with her with her album so it's amazing we did a song find a way with a little baby a little dirt and hurt that that would got it nominated so i think my boy james was on this yeah james madden was on it too man shout out to molita yeah they on that he was they did the loop on that yeah yeah so shout out to them boys so let's talk about that right there that [ __ ] hard right oh yeah this catastrophe it's just the sample too we got more on the way you know it's like just shout out to all the you know the black queens you know lauren hill erica bardu tlc or leah you feel me so it's like everybody will be [ __ ] with it but it's next level [ __ ] you know it's all about ownership like if you if you're a producer if you're a businessman if you're a company you got to have merch like that that's just ain't no way around you got to be plugged in because your fans gonna buy this [ __ ] so like me and chichi we tapped in we got a designer you know my boy wi-fi he he stitched it together you know sold it it was like we're just trying to build a brand a face behind the brand they said hard you ain't pull up like i just wanted to see what [ __ ] was [ __ ] with him like [ __ ] i'm in l.a walking on the melrose district folks asking me for the [ __ ] so i'm like damn there's got to be something like if i'm on melrose and y'all [ __ ] want my [ __ ] it just gave me motivation a whole nother level so and i appreciate y'all like asking about it but the brand is catastrophe it's also a production company we have about 10 producers signing us you know we trying to just change the game being a manager right now you see how y'all feeling though man [ __ ] that how y'all feeling i know you're feeling good you know what i'm saying i'm straight i love your energy bruh like just y'all come to work ready we need more of that in the like in the game like if y'all had y'all work everything on like some management side oh man oh yeah sure i don't know y'all on some real exact [ __ ] man let me feel like we're at chad man yeah i be feeling like that's how i feel i moved in in atlanta in may i feel like i have been handed a lot of opportunities and i just like that [ __ ] like joe what passing [ __ ] you feel me that's every time no you don't got anything like that because you're probably perfectionism you know you're hard on yourself everything happened for a reason so like the opportunity might have been around the goddamn rabbit hole so it was like everything happened for a reason that's how i look at [ __ ] the energy got to be right there like like ivory scott said in the last interview he said bro we not coming to work and we really turned and really feeling ourselves we need to be in the room who's hitmaker he said he'll make him say that we ain't really catching the vibe for real not really working no you know what i'm saying not for sure cuz that's the thing it's not even about you like most people on the team you feel me like you're a representation of your people so if you come in there bullshitting then that's gonna correlate to your other people they [ __ ] then you gotta look at like even ray daniel said like that one of my mentors you're like every day i go home and think about damn how the hell i'm gonna pay my employees like if i don't go hard somebody's not eating today so it's like when you have that accountability where it's not about yourself that motivation hit different you feel me a lot of people need to hear that [ __ ] bro we in the area right now it's kind of like everybody want to be a boss everybody want to be the boss but they don't want to pay that cause you know i'm gonna they don't want to be sacrificial you know now to be the boss is like first you got to be a student and a leader like like you just now born a man you're a baby first so it's like it's baby steps to everything you just don't go platinum on your first i mean it rarely happened but it don't happen like that like you just gotta keep grinding it's a marathon day by day just trying to figure out like and it's all about purpose too like you gotta let your spirit lead you can't just go in the studio yeah we may have like a writer camp like i was at 300 writer camp yesterday and they got like specific sounds they want but it's like you you can be strategic with your sounds but your spirit got to produce those sounds you feel me you can't go in there forcing [ __ ] like we're not in music to be forced you know that's why we creatives like we want to be free so i could tell like you're big on energy before that's what i do that's what you asked was like how your energy feeling yeah i'm gonna see how how people heads is because mental health real like no now i'm not saying you for example but for example you seem like a happy guy go lucky real focused a real [ __ ] though real [ __ ] though but like no offense though but them type of [ __ ] be depressed too and go home and be sad like so i pay attention to that like who quiet in the room who fake and happy because we all humans like we all [ __ ] up in some way nobody want to admit it so it's like that's why we we're creators because we get to show a [ __ ] up we get the release nobody want to be bars down and [ __ ] so it's like that's why i'm big on energy because they tell a lot about your spirit and like now and i pray for on that because i'm big on prayer that's how i'm here like i did not want to be on no music [ __ ] but keep calling me like because i'm a networker i love networking like for the last five years every person i meet but let me get your instagram i'm gang every person go to any student how i follow it's crazy it didn't ain't that big of a deal because i'm a manager but i followed like 7 000 people so seven thousand people like follow me like that i know cause now i'm not following unless you're following me back hey [ __ ] but so i could hit everywhere i go any city i was in colorado pull up on my boy dilly and they talking about i'm linking up with [ __ ] in colorado that's the power of like social media on the phone instagram like we we connected to everybody so so are you really using this for good or are you bullshitting because there's some [ __ ] on here too you know what i'm saying so i'll be trying to produce stay focused because like this your livelihood you can feed your kids for the rest of for the rest of their lives their kids kids you know you make a hit record you eating for the rest of your life just uh hearing what you're saying i'll be on the same way but it'd be rare because we really care about you know saying with your spirit and other people's spirit and you can really see the flaws and [ __ ] like that yeah you can make you really want to think for everybody and do the right thing and make sure everybody's right but it's like i feel like that when he kind of being successful and everybody when they come to podcast and say hey gene you want relationships genuine relationships people really think that's like hey let me send you a b hey let's work like just saying stuff and not using their actions like when you use your actions is way bigger so i feel like what you coming with is like that's what creates success around you because you actually care like hey right right right this is what i'm trying to do right and i'm playing sports my whole life so i be having free game like i just take what sport i play college football too where it's like a business so it's like i take what i learned from that and apply it like having a game plan having a strategy having a goal having having a team knowing your team like y'all could look at y'all you could tell y'all close as [ __ ] you don't even gotta i only know y'all stay in the room 10 minutes but it's like you got a relationship like hey my boy call you you're not gonna let him down he'd call you you know what support you got some calls right that person called [ __ ] you not answering the phone like yeah like you go away no that [ __ ] but one of your [ __ ] call you'll be sleep but you answering that [ __ ] like that's the type of thing i want on my team when i when you calling me when you call me i'm an answer you feel me cause if you really [ __ ] with somebody [ __ ] you gonna answer the phone you know what i'm saying so i know that i pay attention to that like who answering my calls who responded to me who gave me time cause that really showed how much value you had of that person so it was like that's a little gem too so i mean i see how their podcast is going to go man if really we can get into it but let's go back you know saying let's get the background story so i know you play football full scholarship you got a degree you gotta agree with two things theater and psychology yeah ending on top of that you'll find how you find out all that he did research y'all some stuff out there yeah that's hard yeah talk about the background you'll come up no so i've always been a dreamer and freedom like i always felt like we could do anything so i like theater i like to be performing arts i like to be free i studied scripts film and music like i just wanted to be an actor and i met chi-chi in school you feel me and he was playing football like he could have went to the league but it just didn't work out i swear to god like this [ __ ] so talented like dance you funny you got great conversation like one of the best football players i'm like bro why the hell you know i swear i'll be smoking right and i'm from atlanta like real atlanta so i grew up on thug gunna little baby luchi you feel me future like i grew up on that like that's all i listened to before i even wanted to be in music so i i talked to chi chi like bringing you to do that [ __ ] so we listen to wheezy and gunner and i'm like you hear that [ __ ] in the background like what the [ __ ] is that like i didn't hear you i was like chichi bro you could do that and then his [ __ ] started making beats blew up in two years made youtube type beats for like rylo and no he was like one of the connoisseurs pioneers of that of that wave of tight beats and chi chi he got 200 300 000 views on youtube and blew up on there and then one of the um he just got locked in with with one of the camps went to babies camp and eventually got the baby in there he took off but chichi was working 18 20 19 hour days like i'm watching it like i had a gold my family van like i used to have to drive because i had no car in like a gold big ass old van i used to go drive two hours just to watch him make beats like that's how much i believed in him so like you gotta have somebody on your team who really believe in you or you don't feel like you're burning out when using college was it like a situation where you were struggling and like challenging time what you mean by struggling like stressed out because you gotta focus on this nah music [ __ ] bro i went to the studio for three years from 2000 from 2017 to 2019 20 2016 something like that 2019 i literally go to the studio light but now i look back at it like it's cool but i did it wrong because i should have been focused on my school work and my football [ __ ] but it's like in life when you focus on something something got to give everything can't get all your time someone's going to be missed out so it's like okay what are my priorities what am i doing naturally some told me i need to drive three hours every weekend to go to the studio i was being an intern at treble clef studios that's where like wife and lucci so i used to be a runner like first and last time being a runner like getting [ __ ] food cleaning the trash i'm like [ __ ] i can't do this [ __ ] take a trip to mama's like some some lemon pepper wings i'm like taking this [ __ ] trash i don't know what the [ __ ] am i doing doing this [ __ ] but it was fun though cause i looked up the luchi like grew up on documentary like that was my [ __ ] that got me through college so i was like damn and then one time i was i'm cool with uh thug sisters right and then they invited me to the studio this was like before i was even managing and i seen thug in the studio like they introduced me to thug i was like damn that's thug how the hell i'm in the studio and y'all thought i'm like what the [ __ ] am i doing and then eventually like one day at the studio treble cliff i met matt tasik which is yeah which is baby engineer chi chi locked in with him and then like [ __ ] the rest of the rest is history we still just getting started though at this time you had a relationship with ola too right yeah so hola that my boy like we grew up together like and uh like glenwood i played football with him in like fourth grade that boy was a hitter and so like i guess he's seen in me people seeing me something i don't i ain't seeing myself which is i feel like my purpose and my gift is to connect with people and figure out like like what you want to do is i'm a firm believer like you put on this earth for a reason you should know what i'm saying like you gotta you got a gift that this world deserves to see and that's why i'm a manager because i feel like all my clients have a gift the world deserves deserve to see so hola you know he blew up uh signed with cinematic music group with johnny shipes that's one of my like mentors too he taught me a lot like i actually was working for his label for a minute and he like just showed me the infrastructure of how labor's supposed to move move like meetings being on top of everything you know making sure the artist is together like scheduling having a vision so like that really helped me like i took kind of his structure and brought to my company because unfortunately ola got locked up and um he gonna get out eventually but that kind of put me on heart you know what i'm saying it's like i'm sure we had no emotions i'm like what the hell i'm going to do so chi chi was like chi chi was blowing up in town he just dropped his first song with baby solid now he got like 10 to 12 songs with baby and then chichi was like man handle the business and he blew up got number ones and he signed a deal with umpg like last year so that's dope now i'm just picking up like just picking up producers trying to help but i mean ain't like i'm not that type of manager like yeah we could just get you placements but i'm a firm believer and a producer a problem i see producers don't know how to work the room like you could send beats all day you feel me you can send emails all day but if you in that studio you a [ __ ] weirdo [ __ ] is not gonna want to work with you you feel me and that's why i feel like chi chi has been able to go because he he acts like an artist like he he believes in his craft he knows his assurance self insurance that i'm supposed to be in this room it's a self-belonging if you got self-esteem issues like you acting shy and all this [ __ ] it's not you're not a star if you you're a star for a reason [ __ ] you gotta shine some shine i'm gonna go back a little bit that ain't like this [ __ ] indeed this no i just said this this is god's work like we all here with i'm on some other [ __ ] bro i'm gonna go back a little bit let's talk about that transition of you being like a manager guy and you turning that into an actual company like you got employees right now yeah yeah i got like two employees shout out to shift he do like all my marketing epks like he do what i learned when your problem is big give it to somebody who is small you feel me so say that over time when your problem is big give it to someone who is small i heard that right i think i took that [ __ ] from right damn shout out to ray lobby watch it i'll be watching interviews bro yeah you know what i'm saying so but he do he got a computer science degree i don't give a [ __ ] i could study computer science for a year and still not be good cold in some folks so why the hell will i be doing that that's the whole point of a company is that you got to hire people who specialize in what they do so now it's like one of me now it's three of me because it's still my company so i was like i learned like it's a team my [ __ ] like it's you can't do this [ __ ] without a team even like drake the biggest artist you got the drake the weekends the babies they got 200 people working for them some more than that like this is a global game and once you understand that your mind shift because like people want to be a part of something bro that's why we here y'all got a culture let me actually just to backtrack a little bit when you want to come up with chichi like what is your job as a manager like then so as chichi what i did was try to just protect him from certain rooms so when i wheeled coming up together i put him in certain rooms and i'm like oh [ __ ] he ain't like that didn't work out or oh [ __ ] he didn't work out he ain't like that so it's like protecting my client from a potential problem so if i know he don't like this studio he don't like this vibe he don't like this engineer he don't like this person it's like how do i prevent that and put him in the room or he around those type of people but fortunately like he chichi like a grown ass man bro so he know how to move technically he don't necessarily need a manager like he just don't want to look at the paperwork and deal with the emails and following up to people like that's where i come in whoever he meet i'm getting that contact so when they when he got to come back and meet him again i already got them on speed uh like they cheat you in town what are we doing she can't tell what sessions we're doing which what we doing work we're writers in town you feel me what reference tracks we can send out what what labels look for specific sounds so it's like being strategic for him and just protecting what he want to manifest or like facilitating his dreams see yourself being a family man type [ __ ] yeah you got if you ain't got family what you got like if you ain't got nobody that love you bro you're gonna feel hopeless like we all seeking love like regardless we all want to be a part of something that's why [ __ ] join gangs when they little they could join book clubs they could join sports teams things won't be a part of something bigger than them [ __ ] would die for whatever they what they should like [ __ ] would die for this [ __ ] and that's what you guys stand on like i'm going to bat about this [ __ ] like i literally go to sessions while i'm not invited to just to see if i can work the room i went to a swedish session oh i don't never said that i got in that [ __ ] because i was connected with the people at the front desk yeah and they let me in that [ __ ] because i act like i was supposed to be at that [ __ ] like i like doing fun [ __ ] like that like just going into sessions and big sessions too like high security but when you know how to move in the room so let's talk about that definition like working the room like technically like what is that so working the room is like being aware of your surroundings knowing who in the room so studying the game so like it's crazy i run into kevin love's right in a meeting in miami but how would i would have known that's kevin eliza if i didn't study him you feel me so it's like working in room is doing your research knowing who i'm about to be in a room with studying who gonna be in there what they've done so like i learned like from chichi so every song i hear i look it up who the producer who the writers so it's like really doing it's like a game like you gotta study this [ __ ] yeah stay the game you got to study the game yeah this video right there so going back to like networking if you're a producer i just moved out here in 2022 like what's your move what you doing so i feel like bill joe sound like i always take the athletic route like when i was in like high school right the top players just focus on their craft because they gonna come to you if you good enough yo your talent is gonna make a way for you it's really gonna make it lame so i hate when people try oh i'm trying to work with baby i'm trying to work with drake i'm trying to work with dirt [ __ ] everybody in the world trying to work with them what's it what's making yourself different find that new drake that new baby you feel me that new dirt or go to another genre pop land it's more than just rap that's why the game [ __ ] up right now [ __ ] making the same type beats cause we going away from real music [ __ ] is no offense but [ __ ] are just making music out the computer like where's the real sound there was a point where they would only have to make one take in the like 60s 70s and if you [ __ ] up they would have to start it all over so i'm saying like where's you know how much [ __ ] focus that take and that's going to the music while that music lasts and now and like 75 percent of people are streaming older music because it really is just real music we it's some fake but a a revolution coming up it's crazy i feel like i feel like there's plenty of producers out here that's super fired that don't make chi chi b so they don't make weezy beats but they don't have like somebody like you that's creating opportunities for them answering the phone and putting them in rooms and [ __ ] like yeah but you got to work now you had a point now where you got to be somebody to get me like i worked that like that's like honor like like you're just not familiar anybody because it's energy too like the more you give out the more just being drained so everybody can't take your energy like it's like having a whole bunch of girlfriends and [ __ ] like sleeping with a whole bunch of women that [ __ ] cool at first but then you start feeling like oh man you spreading yourself then you worrying about if you catching someone you having a baby and you worrying about all this and [ __ ] so it's like a lot of people can't have access to you but if you own what i'm on you're gonna have access to me because you want what i'm on like then that's what helped me like like six seven months and i need to elevate so what i did i cut everybody off who went on music real talk so if you ain't no no music [ __ ] trying to help me i'm not talking to you so guess what now what i'm happening now i have real friends in the industry that i could just call and just do something for me because one person could change their life like me i meant teach you to change my life forever like now he's trying to china i'm seeing a dollar pub deals i didn't know that existed but now i'm like oh a million 10 million [ __ ] making 100 million [ __ ] money don't even exist my [ __ ] be real with you it's just it's just a it's just an illusion to get you wrapped but you need money to live but [ __ ] we make money [ __ ] and they get that [ __ ] from the tree from what god gave you so like what is your the real the real currency is time because that's something you ain't never get bad like the richest man can't get time back i was like i'm just one big on health and wealth and like mental like ability making sure your mind right make sure your spirit right that's why i try to work out i try to read the bible just simple stuff to like propel me for the day cuz i know what this music [ __ ] some [ __ ] coming but if i face some [ __ ] already i know i could get through it you know and then having like brothers like you y'all strong man you're not gonna let him fail you feel me you're not gonna let him fail or he really ain't your brother like cheat you hey [ __ ] what the [ __ ] you doing like you you you representation of me no we ain't we ain't rocking like that like somebody who's gonna they know yes man you know what i'm saying so like you need that strong and that goes back i know i'm just buzzing i'm just excited to be here so i'm just blessing ideas but let's go back to like when [ __ ] is little right a lot of folks don't have no father figures in our community and and you can feel that so when a [ __ ] like me come in i go into school i do teaching too kids are literally drawn to me because they don't have that most teachers are women so it's like if we could find a way even y'all we could go in these schools and develop this next talent but we'll have a whole dynasty already there it's already there bro but they don't have they don't have music schools i mean they do but they don't have it how they got football like you could just go to img academy and [ __ ] when you have academy a producer grind academy where we teach you splits the royalties you feel me stems like hot you know how to make sure you'll be in my setup your sound exchange set up your harry fox your mechanical reality like there's so much ways to get money so it's like just making sure you know we educated i feel like this [ __ ] cut deep into that like school now you learning about the [ __ ] rocks and [ __ ] [ __ ] somebody took a financial class in high school yeah i took financial classes in high school you know what i'm saying today micro economics or something michael so weird they ain't gonna teach you how to live in school ain't gonna teach you how to take care of yourself they're gonna teach you how to work for another man that's why jails hospitals and schools all look the same for sure i'm gonna ask you this like you could be as general as possible um a lot of producers and artists of course they invest into themselves they have to you know what i'm saying but you also got to live the ambulance if you get [ __ ] hit by a car son you don't say everything oxygen your guys can't breathe [ __ ] paying for oxygen now too right and water like yeah everything it all costs life life costs not real talk so when you out here trying to hustle on this music and you're taking everything that's supposed to be for you for you to breathe you know what i'm saying how would you say it's the easiest way to stay on that money route you know i'm saying like in the first place like and never forget that that's that's a great question man that's a great question and and it's subjective because i believe i don't believe in working just to work like if i'm working i gotta like it like there's no way i'm gonna be working like i've had a temp service job where i've been like like a janitor or a butt bus boy or a waiter like i had a job like all my jobs i got fired too because you know why the [ __ ] is we doing this like i'm challenging the boss like [ __ ] i was one time i was folding envelopes like for bmw like [ __ ] am i doing right so it was like but i had to do that to eat like [ __ ] got to eat so i'll say find something that's supportive to your dream you got to be strategic everybody ain't got to know you trying to be cause i'm guessing this question for somebody who's trying to make beats right but they it's kind of sidetracked because they got a another job yeah they got to take care but the beauty of that everybody has to do that you're not special like everybody if you really hard you gonna figure out a way so it's like that's a part of your process and so now like me when i'm doing this [ __ ] 24 7 it means something now because i remember when i had to work wake up early in the morning go work and then go to the studio like damn now i can go to studio when i want like that's a blessing like y'all from boston y'all could have a interview any time y'all want so it's like but [ __ ] [ __ ] still be having to work though so you can't knock a [ __ ] for working i never knock a [ __ ] for working but you got to figure it out i feel like [ __ ] got to be more more more honest with themselves and know that we all got to eat you know so we all got bills to pay and [ __ ] like that i feel like sometimes it's like social media made that illusion well you think [ __ ] ain't paying bills some [ __ ] might have you oh [ __ ] might be 1500 a month 2 000 something [ __ ] might be full something like that no no no 10 000 a month for his bill so you stress we you know it's all different some of these expenses is no restrictions sometimes what you crying about right right right right that's why i'm blessed to have a foundation my mom and dad sacrificed for me you know i never like that's big going back to your parents that helps propel you too so it's like i'm blessed to be around like my dad's a coach and my mom's a therapist so it's like i'm right in my room i'm not even on no capture like i was been watching high school college kids since i was three and watching my mom take care she did she worked with atlanta braves my real name ryan you feel me and that means king so like whatever y'all like name real name is that is a spell so whatever somebody calling you my [ __ ] that's what somebody's telling you like you smart you say hey you name me smart you holy your names really be mean and [ __ ] like that like smart holy divine so like you gotta understand what you really mean that was my name burst because of this [ __ ] like this somebody call me versus i'm always trying to preach and like preach it could be lame but it's like somebody gotta hear this [ __ ] somebody really somebody gonna hear this [ __ ] be like damn i already did another interview with my partner they hit me like damn that [ __ ] hit me bro damn that [ __ ] hit me bro like this life [ __ ] real like my mom said first she's like you could be gone tomorrow my [ __ ] what the [ __ ] you mad complaining for you feel me ain't nobody really give a [ __ ] you might like get this [ __ ] out the mud like somebody give a [ __ ] how you feeling go go get this [ __ ] that's real [ __ ] man so what would you say is the biggest like roadblock for producers right now i don't like [ __ ] get paid too slow like if ever if if people got paid what they deserve they'll be less people working non-fars you'll get you'll get paid on i'm getting i'm still getting waiting to get paid on advances we did last year we still ain't no royalties we did so the labels man they just it's a system before you saying that though a lot of producers sit here and be like man i'm getting home these big producers got down you know yeah they've been this five it's not like that sometimes man bro [ __ ] is waiting everybody this is like a whole this is the whole industry like people be getting paid slow as [ __ ] but they want you to get paid slow as [ __ ] cause then you're gonna forget about it now the money's getting stacked up in the black box royalties and the same money they giving out is going back to the [ __ ] who's giving it to you going back to that one percent and they spread it with them so it's like you know how many unclaimed royalties just like the music modernization that helped so like if you have a song out before a certain time you can still go collect that [ __ ] but it's like people don't know that and then you only got three years to register a song before it goes to the universe back to them so it was like and there's so many ways to collect like you got your you know people don't even know it's like two different sides of publishing like the composition side and the sound recording side composition side underlying composition being the publishing and the sound recording being the master recording so it's like those are two different royalties right people don't even understand that simple fact that's why splits are 50 percent pub then you naturally have a publisher so if you don't have a publisher connect collect them for you that's another 50 you could be collecting and that's why i'm an advocate of if you make the beat right and you're a writer that's 75 right there now that's why russ and ryan leslie don't hear i learned a lot from that interview that's how them [ __ ] could live they don't got to make music the rest of their life because they own it's all about ownership that's why the label is paying you a million dollars for your publishing they know the power of a million we're gonna make five million out this [ __ ] while he's still trying to recruit i don't hurt man that's crazy full producers folk producers usually you might talk to somebody that said goddamn songdress or something they might talk about the black box but i only heard like three or four people in industry talk about the black box so that's oh there's you dropping let's talk about like the guinness producers who's watching this and they just heard that they like what the [ __ ] he just said because you just went in on the business so let's talk about like two things like i want to talk about like negotiation but i want to talk about first is like a producer who gets a placement we have random people out there in australia i got their candidate against i got a producer in london money ever shout out to him placements with kodak black polo g rich the kid roddy rich nba young boy pop smoke a little like this nigga's going crazy what am i producing i'm proud of like my badges shout out to money ever dudes right hard too i [ __ ] with rhyme spider building i seen spider grow for sure no spider hard bruh and he's not like he got no crazy places but people know him already because he got that but he got the energy he's a star like i know stars bruh [ __ ] [ __ ] star spiders star seen about a map beat battle yeah that's where we found them at [ __ ] beat battles is where like we got to have more that we got to have more on guys we got to make producers the artists like literally and that's where the producer community got to come together because we are like close but we are separated too but atlanta we close though [ __ ] know everybody like i know the bricks breaks the man has he been on here yeah yeah i know the [ __ ] with bricks twisted too dope you know like tm 88 hey heart chi chi section eight like i'm just take keith i'm blessed to be a murder beat so i'm blessed to like be around producers jake who knows it's like i'm just blessed man to be learning and i learn from everybody so for a producer that's you know saying just out the loop you go on instagram one day and see this song he made the loop but he just on to the b he produced it like what's the what's the steps for beginning so first is contracting like usually this is how we work i'm not really working with uh artists unless they with a label yeah you may get paid slow but at the end of the day they take their contracts seriously like they take that contract as serious as you can take it so if i say i have an advance for ten thousand dollars i know they're gonna give it to me but now this is the problem now if the songs are now you saying if the song is already out so when the song song's already out we got to figure out okay when you go on apple music right when you go to the bottom of the of the album what you going to see you're going to see who's a who publish it right you're going to see who dropped it so first i'll figure out who dropped it and then [ __ ] you ain't your beat just ain't get placed like you know how it got on there so we got to figure out [ __ ] what producer if you're a loot maker a producer made a play so some producers is [ __ ] your business up yes sir so let's go that's one way he's speaking real and then you go find the artist you contact his manager but you got to contact folks but and this is real game i'm a manager right but my [ __ ] you better off having a fire ass lawyer than a fire ass manager cause a lawyer gonna get that paperwork straight speaking manager manager i just push buttons i just like i follow up [ __ ] i can't right write a contract and make sure everything is situated like it's supposed to you feel me like so it's like that's why a lot of producers don't have managers but if you big you need a manager and if not you need that lawyer [ __ ] manager get a lawyer who's hard that money is worth it you feel me so that's now why i say find you a lawyer who gonna get it because at the end of the day they don't pay your ass you know that's the beauty of copyrights like you know a copyright is like a tangible medium in a form that could be like reproduction so if someone is already having that song you already entitled to black money which is publishing so it's like figuring out how can i go collect it how can i get my lawyer to go get that [ __ ] go hire a lawyer or take that [ __ ] down taking i got i my [ __ ] talk i got a question but before i ask that question i'm gonna say one thing like when i started reading all about the music what's it called that's me that was like i read this [ __ ] like seven times he said the first person on your team is a lawyer before anybody they said the first and one time that's like at the beginning the book type [ __ ] it's beginning so for the problems that be going on in this industry i know [ __ ] ain't reading that's the first thing they said hey look for him first but the question was that with these producers anybody any producer or artist get into bad business where they say damn why is this [ __ ] already out or anything like that and when they take the social media just quit like oh [ __ ] them bubba or you know what i'm saying or they jump straight to artists like do you think not you saying do you think but how can we solve the situation of the artist or the producer thinking that they're on that communication level to go at them on some [ __ ] that like you said the contract was done what you mean what you mean if i send my loot he lands the placement and the business gets done this [ __ ] get big roll out you feel me like the song is doing good but they do big business on it he don't let me know nobody lets me know all right right right right right right communication i'm gonna be black bob because [ __ ] tv first of all you just hold me i'm tweaking out you know what i'm saying so that manager you're saying that communication is everything but i feel like too you can't ever say [ __ ] nobody like you say [ __ ] them in your heart but like mentally you gotta act like you like them that's the law of power you can't you can't offend the wrong person so you gotta how do you go you gotta you gotta you gotta put a mask on okay so now you gotta do like producers and handle business though you got to if you ain't got no manager lord you gotta handle your business like okay what's the way to go you gotta talk to his ass like a man like what's up man you a respectable man try your ass like david [Laughter] project drop right project drop what's the song called yeah money ever got two coming out two by the way that's all yes sir what's up project come out you know what i'm saying loot maker he got down we listening to the [ __ ] he like it ain't my loop i know so he hit up the producer right the bruce like you know we had a business the producer then gave basically the rest of the percentage to the [ __ ] manager so now the loot make only got five percent left yeah so he need to be talking about he giving the some publishing publishers so the only thing that's left is five percent and basically the producer is saying [ __ ] you only getting this five a part of the game is like going through some [ __ ] up [ __ ] like i lost out on like 200 000 because my business went together like literally like i didn't have an llc and i have my taxes together i ain't have i ain't know that like this [ __ ] a business so you got to be protected so you got to have like not your name but a business name but the main thing with that going back back to the five percent if that [ __ ] really think you're a hoe i ain't gonna lie okay like he trying you like that's personal i'm telling you like five percent and you giving it to a manager for not even on the record like but that's that's some [ __ ] like we really doing benny but i'm the type of [ __ ] like karma real so i'm gonna work my ass off and you're gonna remember this [ __ ] [ __ ] like that why i don't ever be tripped like went up to ain't gonna say no names a couple big ass [ __ ] managers right a year ago they see me i'm like what's up i'm gonna say what's up what's up my [ __ ] hey black oh yeah i'm on the phone just a year later oh [ __ ] oh [ __ ] you man it's chichi oh y'all doing y'all thing i'm like yeah oh yeah it's good to see you again bro that's love to lock in ain't no [ __ ] feelings it's about business so it's like cause you got that mind so you can't that's how [ __ ] burn out they worry about their feelings and [ __ ] like everybody give a [ __ ] about your feelings okay come as a man everybody care about your feelings bro like obviously your friends do but where we going we gonna whine [ __ ] taking the food off your plate don't care about how you feel about it get the power where you could god damn control the contract because the lawyer when the song is dropped the lawyer or the artist is reaching out to the producers so when they don't that's just that they didn't even tell you your name and they didn't even and then some big producers don't even tell the loot maker so that could be a problem too like sound like a lot of disrespect but there's some [ __ ] somehow there's some other [ __ ] in this industry like but i'm blessed that i can understand it now so i could maneuver i didn't understand that two two years ago and a lot of people don't still don't understand that i feel like a lot of the like the [ __ ] start i'm all of it but most of it is really like the producer producer relationship that benny is being [ __ ] up you feel me so i really want to get into like sample makers that's cute that's not [ __ ] coming everybody want to get placement you know what i'm saying little baby placement everybody in teaching hey let me see luke's bro let me see let me show y'all something real quick ops [Laughter] man i do my dms from just today right this is just today and these like people i [ __ ] with you know what i'm saying now look now look at all this these are my requests [ __ ] is hungry like you're supposed to do this but like chi-chi's finding the loot maker you want to work with he dm him so that's why i say focus on your sound because it's going to come to you people worry about ohio god gonna make a way for you bro as long as your heart right your spirit right are you working you made it this far right you ain't gonna you ain't gonna lose bro just just have patience is big patience it's a birthday big ass dude bro a lot of time [ __ ] be okay the baby hot's gonna make that little baby [ __ ] whole time but they already got the sound the team why the [ __ ] they need and you know it's crazy nine times ten that beat you're two years old okay he [ __ ] dropping old songs my [ __ ] so we all they already got the project rolled out for the next two projects like that's why i love listening like unreleased gunner because you go on his page you know all these songs [ __ ] make you know how blessed it is to get the placement how hard it is so it's like bruh but you gotta you gotta get in that in that it's sad but like the the main the matrix of the music of being in the loop in the mix in the loop because it's like murder beast is gonna get placements just off him being murdered b take keith gonna get placements you feel me he'll make it gonna get hit boy gonna get placements london on the track they just gonna get placements off who they are k.d lebron steph curry you know when they hit the court but [ __ ] is not built like that how do you get to that level [ __ ] been making beats 10 plus years like and chichi only been making beats like three four years i was like but he had a 20 hour work days so it's like 10 000 rule is real what you what you do with your time i'm gonna tell you who you are as a man feel me what you consume is what you [ __ ] so what you what you what you eating my [ __ ] how you feel about [ __ ] like biting this ham bro man [ __ ] it's like that's respect i feel like that's cool because how hard you try to copy me you still can't beat me how are you trying to be teacher you still not gonna be chichi see i love these interviews when we could just get there oh i wanna come here so bad like i wanna come i got some game like this ain't no [ __ ] like that i just woke up one day this has been years of life [ __ ] i cried over this [ __ ] i prayed you feel me i've been hurt like the music is going to take you through a whole roller coaster of emotions but it's like you got to stay down i want to talk about the publishing deal it's kind of like dive into that like what the red flags you know publishing deal i feel like they want to own the hall of publishing that's why that's why i like admin deals so that take like five ten fifteen percent then a publishing deal may take like they could still take anywhere from 20 50. you got some [ __ ] who take all your publishing like [ __ ] up [ __ ] 360 deals where they taking your publishing your royalties they taking everything so it was like that's why the lawyer's key my manager can't read that [ __ ] you need a lawyer but if your lawyer bad it's terrible but we're in a new age now where sometimes you're better off not even having a deal the whole reason you signing a deal is because you want the bad like really these labels uh where i hear from these other producers these [ __ ] getting placements on their own the label is not getting them placements so it's like but thankful for us the placement label got us was our grammy grammy nomination shout out to walter jones you feel me so it's like if they really want to work you they can work it but bruh they got over a thousand people on the label you got i'm talking to these nr's at the label cause they my friends now [ __ ] they represent 15 people somebody not getting prioritized so it was like [ __ ] you gonna work and wait for somebody to put you on because when you just signed a deal that's the beginning my [ __ ] now we got to go recruit scott yeah shout out to ivory so you're working on netflix man yeah i got a my friend like name all in he got down so he do everything i got a man speak like five languages he like he filmed i ain't gonna put too much but he go around the world filming making beats with local people and making it his sound and he dropping he artists too so he's going out of run around the world getting music from like local people which is dope concept so it was like that's a netflix though we you know we're pitching it to him you know apple amazon but my role of that is like the royalties because foreign mechanicals operate different in each uh territory so it's like some may do a percentage basis or some may do like an all-in basis and then but mostly you have a company who collects like you don't got to go to a person you go to a company that's why we go to the unpgs the sony's the warnings because they got the power to get all your money that you don't have you feel me so it's like that's where a pub deal makes sense especially if you got an international hit you got money everywhere my [ __ ] ever our pros everywhere like performance royalties getting them [ __ ] in the clubs and the [ __ ] in the gyms and the radios you know being outside on youtube so we know like in the trap hip-hop scene like music being just grimy but is it like that outside of other genres like pop now i heard this the dirty you know why though right [ __ ] [ __ ] real street [ __ ] running and [ __ ] [ __ ] no it's real mob this [ __ ] connected with the streets like you got to respect the streets my [ __ ] like you got some [ __ ] they they they hustling to support this so that's connected like it's a street mentality but i've heard pop is more generous and but look at the audience my [ __ ] like look at who's running it but what the irony of that too is like the real buyers of hip-hop are like white people majority like you not a crossover you're not a hit until they streaming your music cause look at the coachellas the rolling labs the south by southwest look who who's in the who's in the stands that i'm actually y'all who y'all y'all go to the nfl in nba games mlb games who's in the stands bro black people ain't got no money and that's sad like and you know some other [ __ ] like i mean there's some [ __ ] that there's some controversy [ __ ] but they want they want it like that it's it's crazy because when i get talking like this and he's looking at me and he like what's going on i'm like i'm just i'm just keeping it real trying to potato people [ __ ] look at the nfl [ __ ] we got no black owners in the nfl there's no blocking them there's no black owners in the nfl but their majority team is black that's modern-day slavery my [ __ ] and i watched a lot of dane dash like obviously his views are controversy but his what he's saying is it sits right like we still living in like a racist world but it's changing you know we blessed to have our own freedom but it's like you know it's a powerful white and i want to make it a race thing you know what i'm saying this is not a race thing but there's some powerful white people too who want to help you like so it's like it's and there's some bad black people who want to kill you it was [ __ ] harriet tubman i was talking about this yesterday hair tell me was on the underground railroad that was helped pave the way by white people okay this happened i like this [ __ ] because it's definitely not it's about the race but it's like knowing exactly your roots and [ __ ] right your roots right why are you reading why are you trying to be a boss why are you why are you trying to do this and that because i have to my parents ain't teach me how to just [ __ ] no that's king are you a king you're a king you're a king i i i'm big on affirmations too like every day i wake up but i'm a king i'm a world i'm disciplined i'm gonna make a difference in somebody's life and i'd be meeting some crazy people like people that changed my life like i was just in hollywood hills this morning 10 million dollar house like that's the energy i'm right it's not mine yet but i could touch it you feel me it's different watching on instagram [ __ ] i'm in i'm in these spaces like what's next man let's own these spaces but you know you only know what you're exposed to and you only know what you don't know too so like how big is like traveling to you you know what i'm saying because i see a lot of producers sit in the city bro if you're a producer and like takes it takes texas cool but like south dakota [ __ ] new mexico like [ __ ] you gotta move to like you moving bro that's the best thing you could have done i and you i can ask you that moving to atlanta what has been a big difference for you what has changed i'm my favorite two placements here in atlanta you feel that what i'm saying but well like double my relationship cause everybody come down here like everybody and that's why i'm hip though because i'm born in atlanta like born in piedmont like so i'm when i'm going to l.a people look at me like crazy because they feel that atlanta got that real energy like we said we send the whole world like the little babies the thugs the gunners you feel even like ain't when kanye kanye from georgia like he was born in georgia some crazy so it's like atlanta is setting the trend you feel me and i and i take pride in that like okay i'm a manager from atlanta i'm hip that's why i could go in la and like take over the rooms because if you can make it in atlanta bro you're gonna make it anywhere you know we we stay in places like ohio and all these crazy places but i put some on my instagram i was like bruh i got homies from florida tallahassee quincy from places that's three hours four hours from atlanta and they'd be on a whole nother mindset and i'm like bruh if if you just drove like 100 miles out and went and seen you would have more belief and you would get more opportunities so it's like sometimes it's country areas that's close where people they'll never see this they'll never get opportunity and they only 75 100 miles away that is because they're in the crib but look if if the artists are moving to the city why you ain't moving that's how i look at it there's a gem right there the artists are literally like even the no caps the rock they need to live in atlanta now like even the pg's like everybody got to come through atlanta like you're not just gonna do a show in mississippi and just stay there like you gotta go where the motion that like you are your environment you increase your chances of success if you're around those same type of people so that's why i like moving around is that if you can't move around just try like i was moving around in college i was driving three hours like everybody doing something a hustle like you could tell your what's your biggest hustle that you had to go out your way to to make this [ __ ] engineering staying up staying up all night literally like a zombie yeah like but your ass locked the [ __ ] in and and you seen the rewards now you that [ __ ] really respect you got a face card now you go in the studio oh you make beats too oh [ __ ] load me up this [ __ ] work that [ __ ] work but you have to prove yourself first you feel me nobody gonna just everybody gonna thank you sweet for until you prove you ain't sweet like i don't know if i should have said it like that but yeah it makes sense though that's what y'all think is like the next like like the next city atlanta they they building this this the new la bro i'm talking people in la and new york they coming down here because what got us you got to realize too you got to be play strategy the reason atlanta's so hot right now is because during the pandemic everything was shut down by atlanta so this is where people celebrated their birthdays day parties their baby showers they get togethers because this was literally like the only place open and not only that this is a fact atlanta has the most black millionaires in the country like probably or maybe the world i don't know but it has the most like we have the georgia institution of technology it's a black man state if you black this is where you succeed at so you learn what you learn here and now you go to the la's you go to the new yorks you know you could go to the londons you feel me you go to miami st you feel me so it's like even the sum the houston's and that and that's how that's how i feel about that so to wrap up the interview you got two more questions it's been fun man i really i'm i'm on 10 yeah i feel my heart well i love you guys we planned on doing the vip so we used to do these events like before covering like vip events definitely got to pull up got that brought up whatever i could do to help like i already put y'all on my instagram like y'all building a this is a legendary platform bro so to be on here is like made me feel like i'm in the right direction i just i want to just tell the producers bro like don't stop just keep going you know follow your heart you know just keep sending out them emails keep connecting and then stop trying to go for the big artists out of time a producer you got to be able to know the sound and hear something that's not there believing something that's not there yet so find somebody in your city you want to develop like find the artist and grow with them you know find somebody you could be a part of their sound and grow with because it ain't nothing like having a day one you feel me like you meet somebody new yeah y'all knew but if y'all growing up together find somebody you could grow with you've been asking this in the last couple interviews but you see me traveling a lot so what's the craziest story you just seen the craziest thing you went to in the studio before and you ain't got to like get it crazy no shootout just shoot out like shoot out just man gonna say who y'all know they big rappers but it's a dangerous game bruh and that's why i try not to be like a studio manager too much i'd rather be on a laptop or moving networking cause it's a dangerous game [ __ ] we in a dangerous game bro these are getting killed out here so it was like as a [ __ ] got shot in my session so it was like i scared of my life it made me appreciate just going home so like that's one thing it's like this ain't no this ain't no fake ass gang [ __ ] really beefing out here behind this music [ __ ] so you gotta you gotta respect the guy ain't no street [ __ ] but [ __ ] that's somebody else's beef you better be careful how you moving in somebody else's beef because it's a generation behind there's blood behind this [ __ ] like sadly but we got to figure we got to change it we got to come together you know figure out starting with y'all like y'all got a whole community y'all the biggest like y'all the wave y'all the new microsoft the new the new apple filming the new black owned company so y'all only 22 23. like y'all y'all deserve to be on forbes and [ __ ] 30 in the 30s but you know that's how i really feel i mean let's end it off with overrated underrate i give you a topic and you tell me which one it is and yo why you know i get i got to get tops at one how you gotta do it for instagram no you guys are 50 50 split oh [ __ ] that [ __ ] yeah that's it overrated because the [ __ ] the little man gonna do no work i want to get half the split and put no groundwork in they get you made to be but i mean some [ __ ] split it but who really doing the work he's over ready are you saying it it's more than just little americans it's more than just like the musical composition it's about man who's getting in place that's the hard anybody there's so many for loops but who getting their place straight class no that's not yet underrated because that's where you can break that's why artists break bruh that's where you can hear new music this is where you could catch a vibe showers at the strip club in l.a just trying to see what music they playing i mean l.a they playing atlanta music i'm like damn playing my chi chi beats like that [ __ ] hard sending the dm saying let's work no i'll check like i check your instagram first like i could tell if you could work by your instagram it's crazy but instagram tell it all they tell who you follow who follows you so if we got 20 mutual followers or some top producers i need to know you but if you just got less work and you just got [ __ ] wave files on there with ten five likes now some off and you guys you got pictures of artists with your beat behind it should look fake as hell [ __ ] like it's over with it's over yeah i could tell by the instagram but that's what crazy like my instagram game on point like just maneuvering who to talk to and i'm blessed though most people gonna respond to me like if i reach out because they see somebody [ __ ] i wanted somebody they followed follow me like i wanna give a quick shout out to my mentors real quick like ray daniels walter wallace you feel me johnny scheibs a lot of people just really has like helped me you know become a man liking this [ __ ] and then women too like ashley calhoun molita sammy ari lauren um so just a whole bunch of i know i'm missing somebody but you're nothing without a team bro cause i'm learning this through experiencing through somebody else so but no bro i appreciate y'all having me like it's like my third interview i'm gonna keep giving up i'm starting a podcast [ __ ] so hopefully i can use some of this content for my [ __ ] but what's the um podcast just a verse like i'm in the studio and i got me a chichi vlogs like he was doing i've seen you have some podcasts in your life yeah yeah yeah but now it's like versus vlogs like your family being like i had a session with dj khalil and sam barks i don't know if you're hurting him but i got like 17 goddamn grammy nominations so i'm crazy like platinum's like just being around that energy seeing the producers one thing i see with all these producers is the focus when you're on that when you locked in this [ __ ] not a game like when [ __ ] is locked in this is this this one b could could change your life this could set your family up for the rest of that little knives x beat that little b star [ __ ] that [ __ ] good forever off of one little beat and this [ __ ] serious take this [ __ ] serious bro like owe it to yourself to be disciplined and have a plan i'm saying five beats out today i'm gonna send i'm gonna talk to five managers today i'm gonna talk to five engineers today so now you got a plan now okay i talked to him i talked to him and talked to them i fill in
