down beat 43 other competitors in the lucky dog to stand on this stage Wow same numbers last year how many of you have been here more than five times ten times twelve times chance put your hand down 15 times right unbelievable congratulations to all of you we got to do a photo op right now what do you want to beam straight ahead on this line the shooting line move ahead to the shooting line and then turn and face the crowd okay all right boys now stay on the line but turn around and face Dean or the camera all right at this time you can all go put your targets up and when you get back the rules will be read to you make sure you got your target number and your name tags are coming out at the same time well Greg white here with crystal Gavin as we have that field set 23 shooters 22 shot perfect 900 over three days with 300 points available crystal I know you've shot three hundreds before in your career when you were shooting compounds whether it was practice or Vegas I don't know but they make it sound like what you've only shot you own you're gonna tell me you only shot three hundreds in Vegas yes that's pretty incredible that's rising to the occasion no question about it twenty all right well this is for $54,000 by the way that's the 2020 Vegas you payout not to mention the fact that the majority not all but the majority these archers have an opportunity to earn extra money that's maybe in their contract or contingencies that are paid out from their beau manufacturer that they're shooting or other companies involved I mean there is triple digit numbers on the line not only that crystal there is the legacy the legend of being called Vegas champion definitely we heard Sergio talk about that earlier this is the Super Bowl of archery yep and just to give you an idea 54,000 dollars like we mentioned for the winner but the jump off the 2nd place $15,000 some 15,000 is great in its own right but to jump from 54 to 15 that's what you're looking at but we've got to get past this first round first as you can see there's going to be some time to score these arrows and we saw the lucky dog tonight go round after round after round after round so it's gonna be interesting how quickly these guys fall off in this are we gonna see a long shoot off or quick like we've seen a couple years ago gentlemen this first end is a practice end once you have shot this first practice end and only practice and I will read you the rules for the shoot off and we'll proceed okay so crystal were in that situation now where these shooters have been in the practice area which is actually not too far from where we are but lighting is totally different so how important are these three arrows it's crucial you really have to get up here and shoot the same shot you're gonna shoot under pressure if you are relaxed now and then you tighten up next end you're gonna hit different so it's it's really crucial you get out here and shoot that same under pressure shot now the interesting bit about being here is we have these 23 athletes we have a crowd of a few thousand people behind them you've been on center stage plenty of time in world archery then some other large events around the world but isn't it possible when you're talking about nerves of course you're gonna feel them but you kind of get lost in the crowd a little bit in this first couple of ends don't you definitely I I can tell you I've had finals matches where I make it the whole match before I realize oh wait we're done you know you're so zoned in just looking at that target and focused on that ten ring here's our lucky dog Glen bored well and like I mentioned before made his way through so one arrow dropped at one point value meaning you gotta shoot all tens there's ninety arrows with a maximum point value of ten each that's 900 he shot 899 points with 73 X's to give you an idea for those that shot perfect he actually out X you've aligned in and wills and ball as well but he lost that dropped that one arrow the lucky dog though this is something that NFA a had it because it's like hey you missed one everybody shoots off and who's the one person that gets to come here lucky dog is exclusive to here and it's something very special and you have to I'm so excited it took a while but finally got it can't wait for tonight hopefully they'll go good tonight it's either first or last so we'll see how it goes one last chance I'm still in it don't give up what do you think crystal now here's the thing about the lucky dog though so we have 23 competitors here let's say the lucky dog shoots his way all the way up to second place if he loses he goes back that balls all the way that sound to that thousand exactly so it's win it or Bennett as they say in racing so for Glenn board well he's gonna win the $54,000 or he's gonna find himself in 23rd with a thousand dollars plus the bonus for actually making this shoot off but still to be center stage a lot of these archers you can see they wear shirts there's a variety of manufacturers that are represented here I mean really there's Larten there's Matthews there's elite there is weight poi PSE prime I mean there's just a host of incredible bows that were introduced here in 2020 or 2024 almost all the major manufacturers made a brand new target before 2020 and there was talk of how many people would actually so rules are being told to the crowd same rules we've heard before first end of scoring is going to be what we call normal scoring for us which is theirs attending their xanex ring yeah exactly what entering theirs next ring they count the same X's are obviously using as tiebreakers and that's why we saw from chris perkins he was the number one qualifier coming in they shot the same score but Perkins at 84 X's to Jessi broad waters 83 and Kyle Douglas is 83 a lot of these guys out here you know our top sponsored shooters but there's also quite a few then probably hundred and this is their chance to really gain the attention of some of those sponsors out there say a lot of clicking a sites there after the first arrow yeah I mean it's one thing to practice it's a whole nother thing to actually understand and know at this moment we're scoring it's amazing shooting archery myself how much different it is those practice arrows versus when the judge comes over the PA and says first arrow everybody reacts a little bit differently we heard Paige peers who shot that 900 this morning in the women's category she was talking about it wasn't her arms that usually that's what shakes for her when she gets nervous isn't her arms it was her legs on that final arrow that were just about to give out on her she said wow you saw on the right part of your screen Christopher Perkins he released his last arrow he just kind of gave a big grimace so what you have to is a crowd that's looking around at different archers because they're invested in that particular Archer so on screen it looks tentatively like we have two people with nines movie price and ball looks so far like everyone might be clean but obviously we'll wait for alright so we have 20 yards the distance obviously down to the target so archers so to that place they're gonna stand on the line they're gonna back up some of those archers it used to be a little bit closer but so they get to stand on that line judges will start their march down the targets looking at each different scoring for the Vegas shoot and we're calling them out pretty quickly so Christopher Perkins he'll kick us off with a 30 so everyone has to match that score if they're going to stay in this competition if they don't they're out Christopher Perkins right part of the screen 2011 world champion Jesse Broadwater the freakshow pulls up even with Christopher Perkins so he remains in Broadwater Vegas champion Oh 6:12 he's won just about everything I think I think you guys won everything yeah field or outdoor Kyle Douglass has just been on fire as of late saw him in Lancaster crowd cheers for 22 year old Kyle Douglas looks like to all three of those are in so we had a tentative nine but those look like solid becomes 25 year old movie price is clean he's good he goes to the next round New York resident his family actually owns a bow shop in New York 2019 u.s. national and US Open champion Mike's loser mr. Perfect's the one that world our three indoor with it yeah is that guy cool as a cucumber one big is that about eighteen years old or something like that the first time something like that but last night in world archery won the gold medal with a perfect 150 and that's shooting that baby ten the X ring in the middle Richard Bowen that's an interesting thing for compound going into the shoot off is we have a lot of archers who are used to the world archery that little X scoring but we also have a lot of archers that are used to this Big Ten Vegas scoring so how they handle that change to the little ten it's always very interesting to see I don't think there's a question of our chance bow bad no three exes so we're onto Archer number eight Justin Hanna we're seven archers clean and Hannah 22 years old at Asheville North Carolina ras a known pro shooter of the year from 2018 fort wayne indiana x' michael Hulbert jr next 19 years old it's something pretty impressive we see he won flights last year and decided to jump into the championship open you don't see that a lot you see a lot of people that just like to play it safe in the flights good for him stepping it up into this so so far we're telling wait a second is that a smirk on Marlo space you never know with him multi-time AAS a champ I mean just a straight up shooter 24-year old Marlo he likes to entertain the crowd if you can mm-hmm how about Dan McCarthy the reactor yeah you want to talk about art life focus McCarthy stays in it broke Levi Morgan streak of AAS a shooter of the year he's the reigning AAS a short of the year in the men's Pro category and just an incredible Archer and even at his age continues to get better and better Jacob Pettit next he's clean the 21 year old shooting 13 years already Colorado looking a little deer in the headlights stunned there for a moment think you should do your hair like that Greg if I had here then there's this guy nobody wants to win this more than Levi he's had opportunities lived through the crash yes it has and he knows it and he thinks about it - Levi Morgan our 13th place qualifier shakes off the unlucky 13 and is able to shoot 30 points it's a target number one that arrow got it yeah big sigh of relief white whale tails archery Lee Gibbs just an incredible story he won the 1998 national championship in the bowhunter freestyle he's two-time record holder in bowhunter freestyle Tracy Bernie Travis Tracy out of Ohio now with his wife the one that's like that sang the national anthem believe so believe it was a Tracy from Ohio so I'm guessing there's some kind of relation there Johnson Bernie Dane Johnson big tree in with a 30 he's tall big boy sérgio looking good Burnie and of course Sergio is one of a couple times in his career including that that big one when we jumped to our first $50,000 purse a couple of years ago and got on that chariot fire shooting out of it spectacular Jean Rene Pizarro out of Puerto Rico remains in it now - Jessie starts starts Bernie he's good so we've seen 30 after 30 after 30 but in hurtin a lot of these shooters would be out right now so can't wait for that next end Jessie Starks of course made this shoot off last year and you Leinen in with a 30 Mikko course from finland makes the trip here is 59 countries represented in the vegas shoot real slim machine wills so so far we're 21 for 21 but things are gonna get very interesting in this next round mm-hmm and you're gonna start seeing a field drop off pretty quickly James ball an incredible story for James ball he's a wind turbine technician he's been shooting for 23 years but he just shoots locally and then his kids and couldn't get out of the house and finally was able to make it now our lucky dog everybody made it through so these guys have now shot 93 Bruce that's amazing absolutely amazing and who knows how many they shot in practice here as well as when you shoot the championship categories there's a special VIP practice area that's open 24 hours a day just for shooters of this level one of the advantages of shooting in the championship compound open category and by the way we talk about championship compound open crystal we're not just talking about that it's open for male or female is it it's open to anybody recurve could shoot it older younger no age limit no no any limits that's why it's truly an open class you can shoot it with an open bow meaning the boat you know the compound bow as we see here with with scopes and with lenses and with stabilizers or you could choose to shoot it to a bow hunter set up with no lens and a pin this time just depends it's just open to everyone you pay entry fee and you get to line up against some of the world's best and shoots to $54,000 the intensity in this arena just ramped up so who's gonna blink first yeah such Turks has one out taking a look it's only 20 yards down range but sometimes you want to get that closer look with this binoculars again all weekend they've been just worried about hitting that big 10 and suddenly it's a mind shift change when you go to that little tent if you're watching this at home on a television screen left part of your screen are what is unofficially the arrow call for our archers looks like Shane Wills Jessie starts you saw that down towards the bottom boom and we're looking at an unofficial night Schluter and a 29 could mr. perfect be out of this one because Jesse started Shayne wills with a tentative nine Miko you to line in having a fan club here in Las Vegas so they will move to there now would you call it observation line I suppose yes it's great thing about Vegas you bring different countries in it you bring different styles of shooting in you really it brings in people from everywhere and we see the guys all bringing out there by nose everybody take a look not only at their own but also at others alright so Christopher Perkins 30 we saw Mike's looser in the middle of that pack with his by nose out taking a look at his arrows so Christopher Perkins Broadwater looks like he's safe unless that first left arrow is out Broadwater was able to catch that he's got a 30 he's in he's disappeared off-screen I don't know where he he actually ran down to grab his by knows from his buddy Shane wills I believe because we think Shane might be out of this one there's Jesse back into frame this Errol Douglas isn't in or out it's hard to tell looks like it could be out saw the breath of relief [Music] since Jesse was off-screen here's another look at Jesse Broadwater as he is in as Christopher Perkins trying to have some fun with the Freak Show of course Jesse has no idea there's no screen in front of him oh good so look at this coverage later on and so that looks good to me but me wait let's see Oh find out for sure again it's harder to tell arrows on camera can definitely look different than how they look in person the white judges will look at an arrow for more than one angle make sure that they're seeing it correctly it's that one number three Mike's been shooting 23 diameters so mr. perfect takes a seat after a good couple of runs here in the US and you'll see the entire crowd roll over to Mike's loser who's Garner's tons of respect in this industry remember of everybody that gets eliminated at this round he will be the top finisher because he had the highest X count Richard Bowen moves on that's a young man having some fun guess that's how they break the nerves oh this chants out - that's the coolest one and this would be just another heartbreaker perchance Bob F he's been to the shoot off more times than anyone in history 15 just crazy every year I mean every year you see him here he's won at three tied for the most wins of any archers yep I think there's three of them tied with three so you're right raised to work for tell who there are the veterans and who are the newbies down there Kansas certainly can he's just like another day in the office we caught it he caught it as you can see he's happy about that big sigh of relief live to see another end another close one yeah we certainly do and I'm gonna tell you from here it doesn't look like that target number three arrow is into me that was a great view though of the arrow holes and why we need to change the target so you see I saw that big hole there where the line would be so it's gonna make the judge's job a lot tougher so I'm pretty sure they're gonna make him hang a new target of course Justin Hanna we had a new thing this year where on anybody who's shot a perfect score in the championship class was eligible on Friday to shoot for ten thousand dollars and then again on Saturday and Justin Hannah won that $10,000 by an inside out X very similar to the one you got oh and they called it a 30 Wow all right so he's in I'm wrong so now go to hold her junior those looks solid to me yeah easy call having a lot of fun this young man to join his first day looks all serious there but he wasn't a moment ago playing chance you're always serious when your arrows are being called yeah Jacob as he likes to be called he leaves off the Lonnie a lot mm-hmm horse graduated from college last year so now full-time into archery that looks solid 3x McCarthy knew that one one of the nicest guys in archery when you're around him and always willing to extend his knowledge to it doesn't matter what level you're shooting but always willing to teach people about archery Jacob Pettit looks like he's got some good ones in there yeah shooting those big gold tip twenty sevens sorry yeah oh this is where the crowd he didn't even get to catch the big ten on that one so oh and he can hear it from the crowd too because he is a fan favorite there is absolutely no look on his face said it all and I'm gonna tell you something I talked to Levi Morgan earlier this weekend crystal and he said he had not prepared for one Vegas shoot as hard as he's prepared this year and he was shooting lights out at home he came here he was struggling and struggling and struggling gibbs is also out with a 29 a good run for Lee Gibbs the 40 year old oh this looks solid three exes for Tracy Tracy [Music] you know you shoot it but you just wanted a fish never know looks good Dane Johnson is just Johnson lighting it up right now looks like he's ready to go camping or something there you want a si fort benning in 2019 a very talented young Archer 18 years old been shooting 10 years and then there's this guy I shoot I win I shoot that was okay I shoot again Sergio upon ye another one of those just great people and are oh definitely just awesome always looking to promote Italians to come over here and shoot this Vegas tournament he's not done a lot for for the country really helped improve the women's compound over in Italy helped the other men just really raise the game over there the pride of San Juan Puerto Rico Jean Rene Bizzaro trying to move on and they're looking at that bottom target pretty closely you've been following archery for a while he was the silver medalist in Arizona company 2010 he got it [Applause] azar oh by the way his resume was the first Archer to participate in both categories at pan-american games compound in 2019 and recurve in 2015 so unfortunately for Jesse Starks who by the way is beau sponsor free he's actually a free agent even though he's wearing that white shirt so sponsors are you hearing that he is a free agent free agent and he is quite the shooter your line in March is on she's bottom left arch it's called on it that was that was one that we initially saw we thought might have been 29 those are solid four ball James ball no question about those and that's what you really have to do that really gives you confidence to if you shoot three solid arrows makes you feel much more relaxed going into that next end versus bunch of liners even imagine what people are thinking at Smoky Valley shooting in Kansas right now watching their shooter we only lost four in that round yeah so those limited mics looser Levi Morgan two of the biggest names in archery Lee Gibbs and Jesse Starks we'll take a seat gentlemen once you have returned to the line from replacing your targets and retrieving your errands take a look at some of these shots Christopher Perkins on the right part of your screen look like he had a miserable shot Jess he starts looking for some sponsorship he didn't like that one chance happy he's moving on with his next to his friend Justin Hanna we see everybody changing their target like I said there's some bigger holes and they gotta put a fresh face up and you know it was only decided recently I believe last year maybe the year before where when you're shooting in this category championship compound open when you're shooting your regular qualification that at the halfway point you've got to change the targets because of that exact facts because people are just absolutely just Center punching yeah targets out and you want it to be fair you don't want one archer to have something judged unfairly because they had a clean target versus one Archer didn't have a clean target so it's straight across the board everybody changes at the same time when we're in the qualification rounds that happened Friday Saturday and Sunday here at the Vegas shoot we use the same target bales that you see but we have four targets that are hung her and so you actually change after five ends of competition so if you're starting on the bottom at five ends after five inch you're gonna change to the top it makes it interesting in the way that I don't know how often it happens in this championship category but any other categories available occasionally you'll see in the flights or other categories when you switch from bottom to top that you forget sometimes eventually we saw that point a bit today yeah all right here we go third end we've lost only four archers to this point I think that's 19 remaining talk about that switch it actually becomes a strategy you see archers come to the line well in advance of their line time so they can get out there and pick whether they want to start on the top or the bottom well lots of people have personal preference on that on the bottom when you switch the bottom target will be full of arrows by the time you go up to shoot because bottom shoots first exactly and that way I don't make mistakes but what I found is most of the pros prefer to start on the top interestingly enough Dane Johnson doesn't look like he might have missed one or two so far that was after he had three almost inside outs on the last end so very surprising Christopher Perkins off the line quickly yep quick shooter Pettit sends that one downrange Dan McCarthy he's a little bit more of a neighbor so we'll see him hold a little bit longer than some of the other guys very typical of a 3d shooter they have a minute to shoot one arrow versus here three arrows in two minutes we're hearing just cheers from the crowd for their favorite archers down to the line we go judges we'll take a close look I'll tell you why we're gonna be losing a few this time there's no doubt we're losing a few looks like your line in looks pretty good wheels look like he dropped yeah pulling out there by nose so here we go it's the survival of these rounds in order to get to even come close to that 54 seconds solid look at those that's a pretty target Christopher Perkins sets the benchmark at a 30 anyone under that and they're going home and again he shot the most X's all weekend so he's feeling pretty comfortable right now freak show Jesse Broadwater got it 30 he moves on Broadwater only one x less than Christopher Birkett so 84 out of a possible 90 for Perkins incredible Kyle Douglas starting to find his rhythm his groove marvelous crowd goes crazy [Applause] shoots out of bring them Bowman Harrisville Utah resident so that bottom rate arrow was gonna be in question here I think worse but he gets it lois pryce so four for four so far and of course there was Mike's looser in there but he got bounced out last round so now I moved to Richard Bowen those three looked good to me how many ends of competition is it going to take one to decide who wins $54,000 phone of course shooting an elite this year a different shirt from him from years past see him walking around you know you get used to seeing certain archers in their chance I don't think chance is gonna get two lucky ones in a row chance that's that's a surprise you know if you watch him on social media and you watch his practice rounds it is a big surprise but again this is just a different time under this pressure he's been here before crystal but just because you've been here before doesn't necessarily mean no you got it handled know every visit to the shoot down is it's completely different experience Justin Hanna still move on to Hobart junior Michael he's definitely got one out that's just catching the big 10 29 so his experience on the big stage over and you can see the disappointment on the 19 year olds face but a lot of respect for the kid just getting there yep looks like Marlo's out as well handshakes already coming it is just so hard to maintain that level of those X's that are now the only high value of 10 but Dan McCarthy solid might want to give us a couple clicks yeah just bump from Dan a little little smile clearly neither of us have shot a bow B better solution hey Dan I think you need a click it should be a hashtag neither click also Jake a Pettit his run ends so so far only seven men are through out of 14 this is exactly the way that this shoot off is designed and why we go to Jason smaller yeah Travis Tracy with a 29 so the 41 year old can add this to his resume with this 2019 nfa indoor Nationals that's another definitely one if not two out there I think it's a 28 so he'll actually fall below those that shot a 29 in this end if it is a 28 not happy not of course Dane you can tell these if it's 3d shooters so 28 for him by the way that's where he keeps his binoculars right on his chest you know not a huge surprise as we go through this oh so we got a surge there looking at that arrow pretty closely the one on target number one is there any yellow between that arrow and that line the middle it looks like you shoot 2500 sérgio won't repeat this year but what an effort let's see those looks good so we're up to 8 left ok looks like solid three-alarm up didn't hear that one Jordan there we go nine again we started with 23 archers at that bottom left ones for sure so the question is does he have a 28 or 29 because again that's gonna rank you in the final ranking Jessie good friend of his see coming over probably to console him on this one a great job though getting to this final by shooting a 900 representing representing his brand what's not so he caught that so that'll make a difference in how he gets ward at the end and he definitely has one out if not two but I think they're gonna call it a twenty-nine oh one more Archer to go but like I was saying before it's not a huge surprise as we get deep into this from the X count that we saw earlier in the weekend yes they shot nine hundreds but when you start to drop those X's and this is where we are that's a pretty target yeah that's a pretty target so we're down to nine archers Dane was the only Archer to shoot a 28 so he'll actually fall to the bottom of that pack in terms of rank there's a look at Dane Johnson in you can see right there he knew it when he released that Jacob Pettit as well than the confidence of Dan McCarthy congratulations across the board some big big names just out of this one all right crystal let's take a look at who we have left so according to what I have I got nine left Christopher Coons Jesse Broadwater Kyle Douglas Lois price Richard Bowen Justin Hannah Dan McCarthy down to Jon Pizarro mm-hmm and Miko you Leinen and Glen board Wow yes so 10 we're getting down to it now so we see in two ends we fell to less than half the field left all right so 10 remain and of course we know $54,000 is on the line and of course one of those shooters that remain is that lucky dog it's win it all or slide back to 23rd for Glenn board well this is where the intensity starts to really ramp up you start to thin out the herd more fans are focused on you and you can feel it just in handa left part of your screen good shot you knew it too there's going bored well he didn't look like he was happy with that shot he grabbed his glasses pretty quickly mm-hmm shook his head there so wait to see looks like a couple ton Ines might be showing up across the screen there definitely has one out yes for sure but again the way this works is let's say that all these shooters ended up shooting a twenty nine we still continue so you just have to tie the highest score on the field you don't have to shoot a thirty when you shoot and get to against the likes of Christopher Perkins and Jesse Broadwater it helps it pretty much means you need a 30 and I like the way Christopher Perkins shoots in terms of speed he has the ability to get those off quickly putting the pressure on his competition definitely looks like just in Hannah's target borings gonna start ramping up now with only ten shooters left in this one so definitely Pizarro has one out I put my money on that one pretty safely so who's going to said the highest score it's gonna be Christopher Perkins who gets scored first so let's say he scored a 29 he wouldn't be out until we came to a 30s but he sets the bar high tip of the hat to the crowd so he really wants this win as a just like Sergio no you never want to win just as the lucky dog you want to win as someone who earned their spot in the shoot off shooting the 900 and then going out and getting that win and let's not forget though that when he did win it as a lucky dog he didn't get to do the ceremony and the pony all that because of a situation that happened at the time so this is something that he's really digging deep definitely what about this guy Jesse Broadwater did he get that arrow they're taking a long look and that 36 year old from Florida lives in Florida now from Maryland from Pennsylvania been around a while oh he's going for it yeah the crowd shares his feelings on that one yeah he is definitely a favor definitely all right it's a Kyle Douglas we think you get on 3rd yeah when you shoot those larger-diameter arrows and it's inside that line that's a gimme shooting those 27s makes the judges life real easy and Louis definitely has that one out he knows it all right so Louis price a great effort great shooting for ends of competition for lois pryce well we continue to see as the guys at the top who shot the most X's all weekend they're staying clean through these rounds mm-hmm but like we said as they start to peel off the line there's just more and more pressure put on let's say something this is third trip and he he wants this bad and he doesn't want it necessarily for the money he's never when I talked to Richard he's never talked about 54,000 he just talks about wanting to be Vegas change looks good Justin Anna first ever of our $10,000 perfect scored a winners by the way day two was a female seryozha Sarah Prius she shot a perfect 300 went in the arena with a bunch of other people that shot three hundreds including Brady Ellison because it was championship class across the board and she was able to win that $10,000 so so far and the two times we've had it it's been male and female she's actually the current indoor world record holder just broke the record this indoor season so she was ready for that shoot off so Dan McCarthy unfortunately for all of you aasa fans that are watching this Vegas shoot 2020 Dan is out of this one so five through so far we know Pizarro is gonna be out yep great effort by Cesaro [Applause] looks like that's got one or two out even yeah for Miko your alignment and he knows it so the question is is he gonna fall to the bottom of the pack with a 28 or stay Drinan 28 yeah outstanding shooting for Neko you to linemen who have seen here before down to the lucky dog for Glen our lucky dog just dropped that one low and then there were five all right so no big lucky dog story this year but all so deep into this round notice 9 through 23 has all fallen off so only guys in the top eight when we talked X count this weekend are still remaining and some of the biggest names in the sport are already gone Mike's looser chance Bob F Danny McCarthy Levi Morgan Sergio panyee all gone some didn't even make it here one comes to mind of course is Stefan Hansen you know oh that lucky dog shoot up was a heartbreaker for him I saw him in line at one of the restaurants after lucky I showed me every picture of his party there was one that was just like I was sitting there watching it it hurt yeah but it brings out the world's best specially compound it brings out the world's best so they're gonna rehang brand new targets fresh faces we're gonna move them closer now this could be something for some of these competitors at this level you would have to think not but say we're taking Christopher Perkins and Jesse Broadwater off of target bail number one and we're moving them down so with the lighting we have in this arena crystal could it affect them it could you don't want to think it's going to but you never know something reflects off slightly different in your eyes there's you know a banner somewhere that catches the corner of your eye that didn't before anything can impact there are our five archers Christopher Perkins Jesse Broadwater Kyle Douglas Richard Bowen and Justin Hanna got three Matthews shooters a PSE shooter and an elite so run the gamut of beau sponsors here all right if you're just joining us for some reason this is the Vegas you 2020 Las Vegas this is the championship compound open category we are shooting for fifty four thousand dollars plus whatever they have in contingency money heading their way which we'll see on the podium and we're down to five and just to add more nerve to the situation Bruce called just decided to remind everybody including these five archers that there is $54,000 on the line he loves to do that and the crowd has gone crazy a battle of both manufacturers going on here as well quick shot the backgrounds of these archers is so incredibly different Perkins it could be a bad angle but it's definitely looking at Christopher Perkins body language right now Christine he did grab he's just grabbed a click it's way out right yeah I don't think that caught but again if if everybody drops you stay in [Music] somebody had to have shot a thirty we hear cheering Wow I mean it looks like right now this crowd cheering it looks like young Tom Douglas might have one we've got to go down and take a look at the scores but Wow Broadwater definitely out Kyle Douglas in Hannah out Wow [Music] unbelievable all right so we know Perkins he's got pointed out so he's gonna set the bar at 29 points possibly all right so 29 that's the benchmark if they tie it 29 is they're gonna have to have a shoot off for a second and third still absolutely so we're not done yet so we go to Jesse Broadwater what's going through all these thumbs all right so they're tied so that's that's the mark but we know we can see what Kyle Douglas did PSE shooter target and he did it when he needed to those gold tips right to the center look at him you can see him tearing up Bruce called just said we're skipping him we're not skipping him because we know that is a solid 30 for Kyle Douglas so Richard Bowen in with a 29 so he's tied with Christopher Perkins and Jesse Broadwater now it comes down to Justin Hanna if he shoots a 29 that means four of them are gonna be shooting off for a second and third still oh yeah 29 22 year old Kyle Douglas [Applause] as the crowd tells the story of 22 year old Kyle Douglas the pride of Harrisville Utah Brigham Bowman shooter he's won one one time at Vegas as a young adult so that's Kyle Douglas fifty-four thousand dollars and the Vegas shoe champion but it is not over because we've got to decide second the third fourth and fifth what a night for Kyle Douglas he has just stormed on the scene as of late just putting up some incredible scores and he's got a bright future ahead of him that's for sure he certainly does Wow so still still a lot of money on the line even for these shooters they're gonna want that second place versus that fifth place there's yeah not only the money that you can win here because now you're shooting for $15,000 for second ten thousand for third seven thousand for fourth and six thousand for fifth but there's also that contingency on the line same scoring it's the NZXT ring it counts as ten points only the rest of it's nine eight seven six Perkins and Broadwater both good Bowen looks like drop close perkins looks so just lost his rhythm he doesn't look the same as he did opening the shoot off definitely solid shots not happy it looks like he might have dropped one based on his body language no I think Perkins is just upset period that he wasn't able to win looks like at least one of them has won out but we'll wait and see so this is to decide second through fifth place after Kyle Douglas wrapped it up already and a solid 30 for Christopher Perkins I don't think there's a doubt about that one nope and this one's gone this one's gone far crystal I mean this is this is n6 of competition in years past we haven't seen it go this deep so Christopher Perkins at this point you just know what are you gonna do you know what are you going to do you gotta wait a whole nother year 363 days to get back here so we know that there's more errors to be shot we're gonna go to a seventh end and there when you see at least one arrow out at that bottom left target 129 I'm 29 for Richard Bowen and Hannah solid all right still in play mr. praxis so this one gets interesting three people only to podium spots left yeah and honestly with the quality of these three shooters and how they've been absolutely ripping through the weekend this could go on for a little while but one bobble letting that pressure get to you just for that one moment just a little bow arm drop or too much yield pressure at the top just could send it and then your weekends over that quick but crystal let's talk about Kyle Douglas I mean what a big winds of PSE yes yeah they definitely come back on the scene over the last year and a half or so we see a huge improvement we see they've brought in some some great shooters over the past year actually just the past couple months we've seen him sign a lot of really strong shooters they're really coming back making a name for themselves putting in the time with engineering of these bows and it's paid off for him that quickly yep so yeah remember the name Kyle Douglas because you said he's only 22 mm-hmm I know future's bright I believe he owns his own shop by the way this Kyle in in Utah that's even more impressive because anyone that owns a shop will tell you you spend more time customers bows than getting to shoot your own boat yeah all right so here we have definitely Matthews archers that are gonna occupy second and third on the podium but who Christopher Perkins sends the first one looks like it's gonna be 10 Broadwater caught it yeah and anakata from 10 10 10 so far Zedeck crystal who's gonna be the first one to flinch this is the battle for second place Ernie's got it brought Wow nailed it Oh all three of them this could go on for a while this is scoring and number seven since we started this championship compound open and bam bam-bam even close is gonna be Hanna's third arrow but it's not even know C Hanna's he's having a bit of a beak important to get the right binocular just in case you're in this situation you want to have a focal point that's at least 10 feet 6 feet so Christopher Perkins 34 the 27 year old from Athens Ontario Canada the 2018 NFA field national champion he was an FA shoot of the year in 2018 birdie Broadwater with a 30 so we continue on to decide who is going to be second and third both Chris and Jessi are familiar with the world archery format the inter ten scoring they've done it a lot Hannah more 3d shooter I believe so he's hanging in there so with Kyle Douglas okay so here we go to scoring and number eight you think if this continues on for 10 more ends the first call might say okay we're going inside out you never know what alright once again $54,000 has been decided twenty-two year old Kyle Douglas from Utah wrapped up that championship now we're shooting for second third and fourth-place fifteen thousand for second ten thousand for third plus podium bonuses I'm sure for all three of these athletes pretty sure if I remember correctly Jessi was actually part of the record-setting NFA Indoor Nationals in terms of the number of rounds of shoot off when it wants something like 22 ends if I remember correctly it's got to be strange to shoot here the crowd has barely thinned out after the champion was decided there's still plenty of people in here cheering no but it starts to get to be just like you're practicing at home once you shoot this many ends after this means yeah good point they're all in so far I think the nerves you know they've settled in and they're just shooting their shots at this point well Justin Hanna didn't like that one no it's like looks like Han I might have missed it what's Jessie to keep this thing going on hold for Broadwater yeah it's like Jessie got it Chris definitely got it so unfortunately for Justin Hanna that last arrow is the one that's gonna cost him as we see congratulatory handshakes come across so it looks like Hanna is going to drop out of this one on n number eight but yep so we know our podium we just don't know the order Perkins benchmark by the way since we started this Christopher Perkins has dropped one point Jessie Broadwater has dropped one they're still in it because it was Kyle Douglass who shot the 30 and number 5 so I mean crystal looking at this you can see Hannah's clearly out is 29 I think people would get comfortable in their seats when these - so Justin Hannah's out but we're in our ninth end of competition we've only had one of those ends where you're scoring normal score for a Vegas face target since end number two in order score thirty you've had to hit an X so if we go on to more ends that's a full Vegas round that's thirty arrows and if Christopher Perkins and Jesse Broadwater keep this up they could shoot to 99 s with almost all of that scoring being the little X the baby ten and whatever you want to call it the two centimeter circle that's the size of a US penny that they're shooting at 20 yards well if you look at the scores Chris had the most X's what was at 87 and Jesse at 86 or something like that so they shot almost every arrow this weekend in X 84 83 but still I mean you know okay you know it's just it's incredible what we're seeing going on right now but again these two I think this could go on for a long time with these two and they're talking about it right no all right so a big distinction knows you look at both archers bows you can see Jesse just tapped that little device and that is a sweet spot device that actually measures pressure but how much force he puts on that bow and it gives him an indicator inside of his scope housing if he's within the normal pressure that he usually shoots while he's pulling the bow apart and so it's just a little bit of an aid to help Jesse man you know maintain his shots won't Perkins look like Perkins shot he's out Wow Jessie needs to stay clean we have our second he knows he knows the crowd wish with a hush but it is not over Perkins has to put this one in the middle like that one but it look good there all right she was solid for Jesse so Jesse just needs to put this in just a little five-second he does it there it is so go to nine ends of scoring and Jesse Broadwater with the thirty will be a second-place finisher Wow 27 arrows of competition and crystal Christopher Perkins with our number one qualifier Jesse Broadwater our number two qualifier Kyle Douglas our number three qualifier and I don't remember a year which I have seen our top three qualifiers end up in one form or another finishing one two three no this is crazy and all they did was invert themselves that's it that's Kyle plug this one from three to one Christopher Perkins went from one country and Jesse stayed in second yeah so Perkins with the 28th just as confirmation and I guarantee you both of these congratulations they both want Vegas before but everybody wants that next Vegas one what a Vegas shoot we have had anticipating this all year long the 23 shooters come to the forefront to compete for that $54,000 and it took Kyle Douglas just five ends of competition to do it that was incredible so as Jesse Broadwater and Christopher Perkins who will see each other on the podium we think we're gonna have a treat for you as we rate await the arrival of our 2020 Vegas shoot champion there's Kyle Douglas congratulating his other competitors as Kyle got to shoot 12 less arrows than they did you
