VAN LIFE - Top 10 Essential Items

today's episode is all about the top 10  gadgets for your van let's get started after owning our class B van for two years  we think it's time that we share some of the   awesome gadgets that we have found super useful  and stay tuned until the end because we have a   few honorable mentions that didn't make the  top 10 cut and then also Bob has a item that   he absolutely regrets buying but quite frankly  it's a piece of junk we'll get to all that later   thank you one of our newest additions is  the trasharoo this thing is great we can   use this to carry our firewood out to camp and we  don't have to worry about lugging that inside and   making a mess and then we can also use it to  store our trash so at night you can put your   trash bag in here and store it animals can't  get to it it's out of the way and it doesn't   smell inside the van one nice feature about  this is it stays put we never have to take   it off it's you know waterproof nice heavy  canvas and just can stay put all the time the next must have Gidget and Gadget or whatever  we're calling them are chairs right when you park   somewhere you want to be able to sit outside  your van since it's so small in there and yes   what you're seeing is three chairs because  these are the ones we originally bought that   Bob said were a must-have for our van and  I totally disagree I actually think this   one is a must-have but we're gonna put them  both together and let you guys be the judge thank you so comfortable just it's perfect we originally  bought these from Costco but they have something   very similar that you can purchase on Amazon and  we will share a link in the description this is   my favorite chair because of the size it compacts  down nice and small it's a minute longer to put   together than the Hillary's chair but I stand  by my decision this is a great chair look at   this guys like this is what you need camping  this chair now Bob thought we needed to have like it does what it's supposed  to do but it's not comfortable so   which one do you guys like better  Bob's chair vote down below or Hillary's chair the next thing is what we're gonna call  I don't know Mats things that help us   with sound is really what I'm thinking and  the first thing is is right here this oven   has a literal dish mat we got this from Ikea  it's just a dish mat but it helps with sound   so it always is here if we're not cooking  so that when we're driving down the road   this thing isn't jingling around it's a sound  mat for us and then this next sink mat I believe   bought this from Target we'll try and find you one  of these and Link it but we cut it to size for the   sink and the nice thing is if we have dishes  in here that we haven't done and we're driving   well then it helps with sound and then also it  just helps with um draining right the water and   everything it doesn't stay stagnant sound that  is what we're dealing with here we don't want   to hear sound when we're driving so that is  why this is one of our must haves for RV life we have found these toilet drop-ins to be really  useful we've tried a couple of different brands   we've tried some other products but I actually  think these work the best they're very simple to   use because you'd simply just grab a little pod  you drop it into the cassette toilet and you're   good and then on top of that they do a really  nice job of controlling the odors and keeping   everything you know so it doesn't smell and  some of the other products you know you've   got like containers you got a scoop out of and  some other things they just seem messy to me and   they're honestly they don't work quite as  well so I've been really happy with this brand   it's really important that you take advantage  of every cubic inch of storage you have in   your van so what we came up with was this  nice little insert this cupboard actually   has a rod at the top for hanging up clothes  so this wardrobe is really meant for hanging   clothes and and that kind of storage what  we found was this Nifty little fabric shoe   organizer that we hung up and then we  actually store all of our food in there   so we actually turned this into our pantry  so being cloth it helps keep down the noise   but also we get to utilize every cubic  inch of storage space we have in the van next item this step I know it doesn't seem like  much but it's been a lifesaver and let me show   you what we use it for so you can see why we would  need a step right I'm six foot tall and it still   is quite a jump to get on top of this bed and  that definitely is our fault because we actually   ended up putting an eight inch mattress on top  of this bed so it's kind of high now and that's   why we had to get a step a lot easier to have  a step so that you don't have to jump and like   you know roll an ankle or something all right  so since I'm up here let me go ahead and just   share the next item it would be what is this  and I I believe it's just an iPad table stand   that we bought because I really had this idea  in my head that I wanted to be able to lay in   the bed and watch TV and so Bob brought this  idea to life so I'll show you how this thing   works it's actually portable so you could use  it as a desktop like this and actually I will   go ahead and put the iPad in there or it comes  with this handy Mount you can put this in here and use it to watch TV while you're laying in  bed it's actually much easier than I expected   and really nice the one thing that we did find  make sure you have a good place to Anchor it so   it has a like sticky pad on the back that fell  off in the middle of the night and scared us but   use the screws find a place to screw it into  there's actually a wooden like stud right here   for the shower between the shower and the bedroom  and so we attached to that been great ever since obviously storage is always an issue in  such a small space so one of the things   that we have done is we utilize these to  organize our clothes they're nice soft   cloth bins that you can just simply put things  in store them up there take them down when you   need to and you don't have to worry about  everything falling out on you when you're   you know driving around and it just helps keeps  things nice and organized and clean and easily   accessible and once again we use cloth so that  there's no sound with anything rattling around one must have is a fan and this is although  it's pretty small this thing is actually quite   loud and does a really nice job of creating  some background noise while we sleep and one   thing that's really cool is it uses a USBC  to usba adapter and it's 12 volt so we can   just plug it into one of the USB Outlets  that we have right here in the wall and it   runs all night long doesn't draw a whole  bunch of voltage and does a great job of   both keeping us cool by circulating some air  but more importantly some nice white noise   everybody needs to keep their coffee warm you guys  have seen these in a ton of our videos we use them   all the time I even uh tried to smash this one in  the door and you know it still works just fine so   I think you dropped it no I actually the roll the  sliding door I set it on the uh the the step and   then I tried to slam the sliding glass door really  hard dump my coffee everywhere smash my cup but   storage still keeps everything nice and warm these  are great cups the only downside if it's I don't   know if it's really a downside but they're really  big cups I think it's a 12 ounce cup so you know   this is a pretty good healthy size cup of coffee  and especially when we're using our Nespresso   which you guys see all the time it takes a couple  pots to fill this up so but these are really nice while we're out enjoying ourselves it is really  nice to have some background music this little   speaker the Sonos Rome a has great sound quality  B it's Bluetooth it connects to our devices works   just fine and it's portable so we can move it  around it plugs with just a standard USBC cable   and uh the battery life is crazy long so this is  a great little option for just having some sound   and playing some music of course you can't play  it now because copyright but it's a great device   foreign to the top ten I personally think  it should have but Bob vetoed that because   mostly because I think I'm the only one that  uses it but this is an electric blanket this   is a lifesaver in the winter guys I have loved  having an electric blanket every time you know   we go somewhere where it's cold you know you just  plug it in it doesn't use a ton of electricity in   my opinion Bob might have a different opinion  Bob do you think it uses a ton of electricity   um no as long as we move every day or  we're plugged into Shore power it's fine   oh it's so needed though so this is an honorable  mention item honorable mention electric blanket this is an epic fail this is a Coleman like two  burner propane stove I had envisions of you know   connecting it to the Vans propane and cooking  outside but quite frankly it's a piece of junk   handle's broken we've used it twice inside it  Heats super uneven one side is like burnt the   other side's Raw it's got this like flimsy  little burner on the side worthless this   is junk so I am in the market for a good grill  or something that we can use outside to cook let   me know you guys got something that you would  recommend something that we should place this   with because I don't even use this thing it's  just a piece of junk and I really need something   well that's all we got guys watching   this is our 10 must-haves 10 must-haves for Van  life slash RV live let us know if you guys
