VAN CAMP and a curry to say farewell to my bestie

Hello everybody welcome back just on my way to Lancashire to drop the young fin Meister off with a more money I thought it'd be quite nice to spend the night out in the van and have some food and have a few beers yeah spend some time with my little Pooch before seeing farewell tomorrow so I've decided to come to the forest of Borland now I'm not familiar with this place at all I've been here once or twice just driven through so I've got no idea where I'm going uh I'm just gonna find somewhere that's half decent to pitch up for the night and get some food on yeah so what about the food so we're now approaching the trough of Borland bit of a Gorge beautiful landscape very different from the Lake District more like Rolling Hills but yeah beautiful I really like it check this view out here look at this this is lovely trough of Borland very nice indeed enjoying it you join it so far lots of hands around here [Music] so do you want it okay I think this is us for the night this will have to do it's not ideal it's not exactly what I wanted to go but um yeah there's this is not working to be honest with you not a lot of places to park and the places where you can park there's already Vans there but this will be fine it'll be fine just a bit it's just a bit dark with all these trees let's get her leadership out cool water Let's help you out okay I think what I'm gonna do is get the food on now because it's half six there's some really big storm clouds over there I don't know if you can see them it's looking a bit menacing which is a shame because we've got actually nowhere to cook if it does start to rain what I'm cooking tonight is not ideal for cooking in a van and you'll see when I get going with it so I think I'm going to put her her bed on my bed for a minute and then get her out of the way and make a start okay let's put you on the bed how does that sound and you're kind of out of the way I'm just really worried about you getting run over there you go bro it's not right wow is it Finn considering it's me he would certainly think it'd be a bit warmer than this let's deploy the Hat as well some water I had a good dog you're not gonna believe this but it is actually just starting to rain just as a start to decide to get the scran on if it starts to rain I'm hoping it's going to pass right how do I normally have this okay let me show you what I'm going to cook tonight it's pretty exciting on the most expensive stove in the world quality stuff it's been great for me this [Music] with me Fork there it is got it let's put that on there look at this bad boy yes fine dining tonight Finn I've got a bit of sun coming through as well which is good oh yeah okay seeing as it's a Friday night it's Curry night so I'm gonna cook up a little Curry and the one I always do it's a Sri Lankan Curry very simple to do and if you follow me on Instagram you have seen it so many times on my stories it's pretty tasty so I've cut up the chicken thighs I always use chicken thighs um I'm just not a breast man at all I like thighs I've got my thighs caught up I've got some sliced onion and all my various spices I thought I'd do this at home rather than do it out here I don't want to get chicken juice all over the place I've just chopped it all up and got it ready I can just bang it in here and cook it and scoff it so yeah all there is in here by the way is just um some turmeric like a teaspoon of turmeric teaspoon of coriander cumin and a couple of teaspoons of curry powder that's perfect but first I think it's time for a Steve Wallace step two now I've brought a selection of beers with me tonight and some of them have never even heard of quite exciting but someone told me recently a couple of you actually told me recently about this one you mentioned on the Black Mass when we got together this is the brewdog hazy Gene guava it sounds amazing so I'm gonna give it a go give something cheers oh now then well that's nice hazy Jane is beautiful anyway but that's just kind of giving it a very subtle fruity taste more of a fruity taste than normal I have to warn you now I've had nothing to eat all day and that's gonna go straight to my head so right so I need to get this cooked before I get too drunk oil that's what I need I need some oil where is it so there's a little bit of that so sun is shining and I think the clouds are moving off so that could be good this board's well for a dry meal huh let's just get on with it and stopping so the first part of this is actually to um just heat up the spices I hope this thing is going to get hot enough so you just put the spices in whack them all in tell you what there's got people coming from miles around now because this is going to smell so good so yeah just heat this up that just kind of releases all the flavors I'm not a chef by the way I've got no idea what I'm doing I learned a handful of things a few years ago and I kind of stick to them but I think they do them pretty well oh I can smell it already that smells great Next Step get that chicken in seems like a lot of chicken it's because it is a lot it's a whole packet of chicken thighs but they do shrink down a bit the reason I like thighs over breasts is the fat all that fat in there it's just all flavor let's pop a little bit of oil in there stop it sticking just a little bit and the idea is now just to let that really Brown off it's definitely much slower than my hob at home but hey it's not bad and the smells either I do apologize this video is very ropey but it is it's just a you know bit of time spent with my dog okay you're lovely art nothing he's such a lovely girl she might be wondering why I'm taking Finn back to her mom's house surely she lives with me all the time but sadly she doesn't like in 2019 and my ex-wife and I we separated but luckily we've managed to maintain a pretty good relationship and a good friendship which has meant that we now split our time with pain which is great so I have it for two weeks and has it for two weeks and she lives this fantastic life you know a life of adventure with me over the mountains doing all the walks and all that kind of stuff and in a life of complete and utter luxury and pampering when she's with a mum but when she goes it is very sad you know it's um it's amazing what tiny little creature like her you know about the impact she can have when she leaves the house and The Emptiness of that house when she's gone is is quite um quite incredible really and yeah I really feel bereft when she's gone so it's nice just to kind of get out and do stuff like this with her not manage to do that much with her this week um these last couple of weeks so probably nice to get out and have a little bit of a daddy daughter bonding time it's fast asleep anyway onion time whole chopped onion there what's gonna put Garlic in there and I've completely forgot to chop a garlic up so that's not going in I'm not kidding you the smells are unbelievable you definitely couldn't do this in America or Canada it'd be Bears cougars and all sorts everywhere all right next phase be a swig next phase is coconut milk this is what sends it to a whole different level gotta turn it up behind now full Heat this all needs to reduce down see ordinarily at home this all happens very very quickly the Browning of the meat reduction of the coconut milk it's just taken ages on this but that's okay time is something I've definitely got lots of tonight uh lovely be a lovely girl pretty good these are all um camping stoves you know dead cheap gas is cheap I've cooked so many things on this now when I say cocked I mean reheated this is the most I've cooked yeah this is looking good it's a bit more yellow than I normally have and I think it's because normally I put a little bit of smoke Paprika in there as well but today I haven't got that looks a bit white chicken coma which I do like we are almost there I'm gonna put the lid on there now let that heat off lid on I'm just gonna let that sit for a few minutes while I get some food for Finn hell I'm good at this even if I do see it so myself right where's my dog that's my chicken fin just food good girl come down here I'll get you outside girl coming in thank you big hey you need big that's it okay cheeky see how she's looking oh yes rested a little bit that is looking really good but damn I'd realized I didn't put the cashew nuts in I know I put cashew nuts in this is probably why I can't put them in because I can't even open the back I'm gonna stick them in now it's probably not right it's nice when you cook them a little bit longer they go all soft but it'll be fine it's just camping right I reckon that's good to go but before I make us down that I've got this one here the next beer the next Steve Waller step two and it's called tooth and Claw and the B is called one eye it's seven percent so maybe I'll be like who knows already slowed my speech oh you're in for a rough night tonight smells nice cheers well it's very different very different to the the previous one obviously not as fruity hopefully we'll try again I've got no idea it's a bit more a traditional IPA I guess been watched by the overlord are you watching Every Move I Make aren't you right let's get this in here so I've got a ball I'm gonna slop it all in ten to eight and I'm not in a bean all day now not only rice normally I'd make rice with this and a bit of naan bread I've got an arm bread but I think because I'm eating the entire pack of chicken and trust me I am eating all of it I don't need rice yum there we go if you guys follow him on Instagram you'll know that I always have one of these bad boys on my Curry oops I don't care what you say there's nothing like banana on a curry let me know in the comments if you're a banana on a curry kind of person I know you guys definitely exist I know I'm not the only person in the world if you've not tried it try it honestly it's amazing quick slurp a bit of mango chutney finally banan bread and there you have it Sri Lankan Curry I'll have black Crag tastes good here as it does at home in fact it tastes even better because I'm surrounded by Nature bitruck oh boy I've eaten too much a whole excuse me a packet of chicken thighs is way too much for your average human being but yeah it's good very delicious all washed up I just washed a whole lot wipe it down with these Dettol wipes are fantastic so I think what I'm gonna do before we bed down for the night as I'm going to take you over to the little stream here uh and I'll tell you what it is when we get there because I've got no idea I've gone check on the map but um let's go have a look come on please do not walk on top of the gravels so this is London Brooke and we're not supposed to walk on this stuff here called the gravel because I think it's for the fish the salmon or travel or something I don't know but Finn doesn't care it's not supposed to be compacted but that looks very compacted there so hold down this way interesting this is like a little bit coming in that bridge I do apologize by the way if it's got yellow around my mouth like turmeric mouth it's uh that is the consequence of having a lot of turmeric in your Curry but it was delicious it was weird there's oyster Cactus here I don't get it when nowhere near the sea there's oyster catches and I can hear seagulls as well what is going on right let's get back to the van and uh carry on with that beer because there's not a lot Happening Here not allowed on this stuff so yeah if you go inside and watch a film yeah it's all lovely aren't you it's been sick in your mouth yeah it's it's a far cry from the tent camping and I can't I don't say I can't decide what I like the most uh and I I'm not going to decide because I think I like both in equal measure they're just totally different you know when you're in the tent it's you're out there you're exposed you've got a thin piece of nylon protecting you from the elements get away from Humanity you know it's it's challenging but so rewarding because you're away from Humanity you know you're nowhere near other people and it's so nice to talk yourself away in the middle of nowhere and not be disturbed whereas on the the with the van you're always surrounded by other people wherever you go you know it's inevitably there's going to be other people there because it's a decent spot for a van to park so you're never really on your own that said it is nice just to lock yourself away and have that security of the van and if things you know get a bit crazy and I need to bail I can just literally just grab the keys and drive off you know so it's definitely got this benefits on both sides so I like them both it's quite nice isn't it tonight if any just having our scrounage and just watching the Suns well we couldn't really watch the sunset it's just trees in the way but it was nice anyway I spent a bit of time with my favorite okay my favorite she's a lovely dog just giving her a trim as well this is really super super soft and fluffy honestly she's so cute right let's get a Jimmy oh I'm going to Jimmy James let's just you know get into bed and see in a minute Oh weird I'm fading already I'm such a lightweight I had two beers two beers my two more in there cool box book such a shandy pants right I'll see you in the morning what are you doing I just sat there good girl [Music] good morning well that was an interesting night it was uh not as quiet as I was hoping it would be a lot of boy races driving up and down here uh throughout the night until about midnight probably just the usual you know souped-up cows big noisy exhaust so it's a little bit unsettling it not unsettling but you know he startled awake because it's deathly quiet and then suddenly it's wow the whole van shakes but besides that yeah it was all right not too bad and I've walked up this morning as you've seen it's Misty as heck so boy am I regretting not bringing my camera I never not bring my camera on a trip like this in the van but for some reason yesterday I thought I won't need it you know boy is this coffee strong I think I made it a little bit too strong this morning this is the just from Asda Peruvian Roth and gold coffee it's a hazelnut this is what caught my eye by the way Hazelnut and chocolate nuts with a fruity finish I don't want the fruity finish but a bit of chocolate in there maybe no hazelnut I think the Finn had a pretty good night last night so she stayed in the bed for a couple hours and then as it got a little bit later a little bit cooler on the van I mean it didn't get really cold but got a bit cooler if you jumped into my bed so which you know is part of the course that's what she usually does so what's going to give you a little bit of a runaround of the van and show you all the bits and pieces and how I've got it set up and what I've done to convert it but I've already done it I haven't seen it yet it's in the Scotland trip video which I'm taking a very long time to edit it's it's massive the video itself probably won't be all that massive but I got so much footage that it's just taking a long time to Wade through so be patient please and keep an eye out for that one because I do show you around and there's a better day it's a nice sunny day I can show you inside properly and it wasn't too dark ice catcher lovely I love the sound of oyster catches there really are the sound of the seaside it's kind of weird so if you are enjoying this video which is highly unlikely might be able to see as well but the sun is actually trying to burn through this missed yeah so let's give you a quick wander around then so you can see the environment where I was last night so there's a couple of islands here this car pulled up yesterday afternoon I think they um they've got to do a bit of a wild Camp I think because they had all the bags and all the gear and everything and headed off the brook there's a couple more Vans here there was another van early this morning apparently tripped up the enemy Crocs very very brief triplets look at her honestly how cute is she we go and see your bum you excited what do you want to see your mum I flipping I'm absolutely off my face we have a quick way before we go yeah an hour in the van so better go another way now I'm gonna miss you know it's only two weeks but I do miss you should we um relocate you to the front yeah oh I'm gonna set off now came in from that direction we're now heading off in that direction towards uh chipping and then I even say it like a Blackburn and then yeah around there somewhere I've got no idea where we're meeting up so uh they're all strapped in ready to go and we're off isn't it lovely around here though really beautiful different from the Lakes like I said bloody pheasant Finn's been de-bedded that's beautiful look at that really really something else it is a beautiful part of the
