V-Log Trip Review Viking’s Egypt Nile River Cruise on the new ship M/S Antares in 2021

[Music] me [Music] [Applause] [Music] so i am now on the top deck of the viking and taurus it is a viking riverboat and we are sailing on the nile river in egypt and we have a great itinerary looking forward to seeing all of the ports i'm going to make separate videos video logs of each of the ports where we visited and what to see there but today what i want to do is i want to give you a tour of the ship here and it is magnificent i've been on for a day and we are just absolutely amazed how stunning it is with wood walls just the motif here is just fantastic so i hope you enjoy this video down in lower africa so thanks for watching pat's adventures and well we'll see what you think of the ship up here we have the stargazer sun deck place where we have some snacks in the evenings entertainment and just laying around the pool as in viking fashion this uh ship is very typical of them with great service just a great staff and outstanding food so far as you enter the room you're struck by the richness and warmth of the decor i understand the ship was purchased by viking in 2019 and was totally refurbished throughout the pandemic and this is one of the first viking cruises on the nile on this ship the cabin is extremely spacious with 430 square feet which is about twice the size of a normal ship's cabin the cabin is adorned with more than ample storage space including specific areas that can accommodate tons of luggage very impressive there are two separate closets with numerous shelves for storage and two egyptian terry cloth robes provided for our use during our stay there is luxurious overstuffed seating to accommodate guests who might come by to visit and share a drink from your mini bar the bathroom is also very spacious and it was terrific to have plenty of counter space for toiletries and i could say that is very rare on a ship all in all the moment we entered we felt this would easily be a home away from home during our cruise days we chose this particular viking ship due to the antiquity feel of the ship which matched the egyptian history we would soon learn about [Music] and in your room you have a wonderful sliding door that opens up if you want to leave it open at night or even during the day when it's not too hot you can enjoy the view of the river from your room as you probably gathered by our room number we were located on deck 3 which is the top deck of the ship just below the swimming pool obviously the main atrium area on deck 3 very nice as they have plenty of seating out there if people do want to sit and gather which is the same you have a health spa here where you can get a massage or you can do a workout [Music] so we're moving down to the second floor from the third this is the library area so if you're looking to find yourself a good book this would be the place to come and this is the ship's store over here where they have jewelry from every imaginable type that you can get one of the things that i really loved on deck 2 besides the library and the game room there was the self-serve coffee area they had coffee tea rolls pastries everything you just might want in the morning and it was fresh ground beans you could add your favorite vanilla flavorings to it so it was really nice to grab a cup and take it on back to your room as there is no room service on this particular ship moving down onto deck 1 the lobby area it is also spectacular the same type of furnishings that you see throughout the ship but marble floors which are really really rich [Music] there's plenty of comfortable seating in this particular area and if you need to meet with the purser or the hotel director this is a spot that you'll want to come to this is also the spot when you're getting ready to leave on excursions that you'll gather at and you'll head out the gang gangway area the lounge is just off of the main area out there and this is the gathering point every evening for having evening cocktails or listening to lectures about the ports or some of the enrichment lectures or learning about hieroglyphics or how to speak arabic things like that it was actually really quite interesting it was really nice being able to gather in this particular area and meet all of the other passengers that were on the ship everybody was eager to share their experiences on what they did during the day it was so much fun sharing that information [Music] and we moved down to the ground floor which is where the restaurant is located [Music] the restaurant is where you're going to take in your breakfast your lunch and your dinner and i can't say all of the food that they served there was so delicious the executive chef is jacob and him and his team they really know how to put together some of the most fantastic meals and with a lot of variety during the breakfast it could be buffet or you order off the menu and the same with lunch but everything was excellent very good very delicious coming of the spoon very very easily and will not stick have to say so far this has been a spectacular cruise got a lot of activities going on the ship just like you've seen doing cooking classes uh hieroglyphic classes arabic classes so there is a lot of actually quite interesting things going on personally i prefer the pool class which i'm about to indulge in right now and hopefully the cocktail class if i can get the bartender to come by so just another beautiful day out here in egypt so whenever i'm on the nile river especially on a viking cruise i want to make sure that i look appropriate for the area here in asia so that is why i always dress in the latest stylish fashion she doesn't even know look how i attract the egyptian women here it is absolutely amazing i like it this is what you want to wear well no here's what i think the three of you should do and i watched her go to the club but can you see there's three of them just walking down the street [Music] [Music] [Applause] on this cruise you get a variety of food some of it being american some of it being european but one of the best ones that we like is the egyptian foods they have an egyptian assistant chef and the guy is amazing things have been put together uh i've never had the opportunity to even see before let alone taste so i think everybody would agree that it is amazing the meals are put together here first time so we are doing family style on the ship here let's take a look and some rice this one we call it beef coffee it's just a beef meatballs with some tomato sauce and eggnog and this is also uh this thing is [Music] okay we just weighed anchor and we are sailing from the town of kenner and it was our beautiful experience here today but now we're headed back out on the beautiful nile river and it is pretty magnificent up here there's gonna be a little bit of a party uh and some dancing i understand so we'll get a look at that too well a little crazy kids are out here swimming up to the boat almost got ran over a couple of them interesting times on the nile we're heading down the nile river beautiful he has us going straight and it's smooth water yeah thank you for your great grace one dollar or one it's good price no it's right don't throw it don't throw it no [Music] no no no yeah so it's the end of the cruise and we're going to have steve who is the hotel manager here on the ms
