so we're starting off with the wrecking ball wrecking ball is a bigger bag it's kind of got a round shape i like it because you can throw all sorts of angles with uh punches bags are partners when you don't have partners even if you have partners in a class i think you should be hitting bags again this is where you create repetition this is where you burn your shoulders uh in the boxing world you used to see them chop wood with with hatchets and again this is chopping wood this is where you get your arms strong uh you can get that consistent power but key when you're throwing on bags again what do you focus on you're focused on your defense you're focused on how to produce leverage heavy bags sit there the key is for me with the heavy bag is when you're throwing power shots don't just adjust to a heavy bag throw power shots and then go shadow box because a heavy bag is going to make you throw a power shot and then when you go to throw it on someone and they ain't there you're gonna be throwing everything into your shot and then you're gonna get enough balance so understand what it's used for it's used for power it's used for strengthening my shoulders but it's getting you into your rhythm doing a long distance run you're gonna know how what pace you can hit this is something i know when i throw on power shots and then how long can i just be consistent and throw power shots every once in a while i'm at the one power am i throwing it all the time bags will teach you your pace very important to be on on heavy bags make sure you're wrapping your hands uh and taking care of your hands all heavy bags are different feel bad before you just get on it don't go to a gym and just start hitting it with power because they do have hard spots but be on heavy bags as much as you can so we got a banana bag here i like banana bags for boxing on the sensor do you see the angle on this bag uh if you can place equipment if you have a banana bag and you can place equipment underneath it and take it to this angle i used to hold these bagels bags at an angle for my athletes because you get this awkward angle and that's usually how people's bodies are on the inside when fighting this is very good for working on your shovel shots to the body and producing that leverage a lot of times bags have that 90 degree angle going all the way down and when it's grounded like that it carries weight like the wrecking ball and all these other bags that have different shapes they move having something that's based there where you can work on your your liver shots and get that perfect angle where you're not throwing a level hook you're not throwing an uppercut but you're throwing a shovel right in between the uppercut and the hook this is very good just to sit there and drill again the most effective shot in the in boxing i believe is the liver shot and i feel like that is boxing for mma kickboxing liver's hurt if you ever been touching the liver it's a different thing so drill this angle and just work on it leverage in the body shot on how you throw it correctly with leverage to get that finish up break the body down you hear me talk about it all the time liver shot best shot in the game take a banana bag angle it this will give you the best feel for a liver shot so i'm just grabbing a bag here teardrop bag uh you can use this for many things i want to talk about uh this this bag just real quick and it doesn't have to be a teardrop back has to be a smaller bag a smaller bag is very good for learning how to move your feet learning how to defend how to stay in fluid motion and have a dancing partner if you have a smaller bag in your house in a gym get used to understanding how to move with the bags how to defend hand fight with the bag and learn different positions where you're moving around with the bag and using your feet when you're throwing shots and how do you move your head again very good for like fighting shoulders and staying in defensive positions where if i've got an underhook and i'm defending okay i'm stepping through the body very good to move with just get your feet moving and usually when i train my guys i'll have them first off just start walking with the bag just letting their feet no boxing position just kind of walk with the bag can you stay with it then we start getting in our stance and i'll move the bag and then i'll see how close i can stay with it where i'm inside i'm out and i'm still firing good shots while moving and staying in a safe position notice my hands on the outside i can throw shots heads on the outside i could throw shots but i'm moving with the bag i'm touching feeling if it's coming at me i'm using my legs finding shots there's really no right or wrong way get hours you'll find your own style you'll find your own footwork find a bed you can move with very very important you
