okay we're starting some straight punch we're going to work on just a cross to start with um and how to get more power out of it first let me have to hit and see what we got to start with so mr jackson let's see straight left go for it okay so we've talked about the hook you talking about engaging the hips and stuff there's something big that's missing on this um and that is the first thing i tell most fighters that come in is if he just throws a punch here it's just an arm punch so basically he's got this i need that i'm overdue i'm overdoing it that's just the arm what he wants to do is get that body spinning here but what people forget about is that front arm if he takes his front arm and he pulls this back to his face as fast as he can that's going to bring the shoulder out that much faster the fastest one goes back to his face this is my favorite part of the hit guys you know he hit me back the faster this shoulder comes forward right here so he's going to actually yank that back take that back every time he throws that punch instead of leaving it hanging if you yank this back it wrote rotates your body you'll see people like in taekwondo or any kind of christ out they're all pulling and punching pulling and punching well there's a good reason for that they've learned the structure's different balance on where they're standing probably in this situation and maybe they're hiding they can get their hands up but the pull actually rotates your body so throw that in the air from a couple times pull the right hand back to your face and throw the left hand try it boom good try good go now pull that back really hard so this shoulder comes all the way to the front so don't stop here but rotate past and you can see that rotation here try to go forward good job go and the key is after you rotate have the ability to get back to your stance you want to over rotate and be lost but the ability because you work your core so much to rotate out and get back quickly go for it i just call it pulling eyes yellow guys pull pull pull the hand back over yeah so that's for starters let's see if we got much more here let's try this straight left pull the hand back over him all right let's go good so that's starter now if he pulls and stays square right here he's got that length but if he was to lean to his left he's got more length on it so what we're doing is if you're looking at the camera here if i pull him here but now if you're thinking about punching me i fall off so now that goes over here it kind of misses me as i'm punching it but also it gives you more length you can see on teal here if i'm here i'm square but when i fall off boom i get more length out of that punch if you're a fighter if you ever had those fights where you missed somebody dang it you watched film you missed by that much sometimes if you were just falling off and twist your body more you would hit the guy so it's always getting more length and i seem to get more length you have more time to get more momentum so if you're in a car and it starts your first gear second gear third gear they used to be standard transmissions for automatics i'm really old and then you're out here now you're on the highway and you hit the guy but it should be nice to be speeding longer longer range the longer punches you have more speed we've talked about that that's what snaps people so when he pulls his hand back he's going to lean off the side boom when he leans off the side the key to that is this is going to go to his obliques so the elbow hits his obliques as his hand hits his face he falls off boom nice when he's here he's protected here so when he falls off the side boom this is staying here he's not doing this he's not doing this but he's bringing this elbow in here so he gets that rotation so the faster you pull this back the faster that punch comes out they rotate out there as you pull down
