Using MicroBit to display real-time data

[Music] in this video we're going to learn how to use the micro bits sensors to collect environmental data from in and around your classroom start by visiting code.brilliantlabs.ca and create a new project [Music] from the advanced drawer click on serial and scroll to the very bottom choose the block called serial redirect to usb and drag it out and put it inside the start block this block tells the computer to receive real-time information or data from the micro bit from the serial drawer once again drag the block called serial right value and put it inside a forever loop now you get to choose which of the micro bits on-board sensors you'll use to collect data [Music] you could test for noise level light level acceleration or speed or even the temperature these blocks are all found in the inputs drawer next connect the micro bit to the computer's usb port and go through the connection steps [Music] download your code and we're ready to collect your data underneath the micro bits simulator on the left of your screen you should now see some new buttons click show console device and you should be taken to a real-time graph of the data that's being collected by your micro bit test it out [Music] what could you do with this information how could you create an experiment or a test that uses it [Music] be sure to share your findings with us stay brilliant [Music] you
