industry today we'll present you our newest soc esp32h2 which is our first wireless communication risk 5 soc that supports both ieee 802.15.4 as well as bluetooth 5le thanks to the low power consumption features of the ieee 802.15.4 standard and the integrated dc-dc converter esp32h2 enables you to build applications that actually decrease the power consumption of your devices even further with ieee 802. and bluetooth le esp32 h2 can function like the heart of low power mesh networks such as thread and zigbee esp32h2 also supports point-to-point broadcast and bluetooth mesh networks enabled by the bluetooth le technology what's more esp32h2 supports matter an industry unifying ip based connectivity protocol the mata protocol allows you to complete commissioning via bluetooth le and initiate the communication between your devices via thread this helps you to build iot devices that can be seamlessly integrated into different echo systems with minimal effort issues for devices belonging to different ecosystems additionally device manufacturers and developers suffer from the extra cost of supporting and maintaining more than just one ecosystem therefore mata which is an industry unifying smart home connectivity protocol has been jointly launched by industry giants including amazon google apple and csa this protocol is especially designed to remove the communication barriers between different ecosystems mata provides consumers with a broad range of choices among different equipment brands all devices with the mater logo can be interconnected and users can control all matter devices by using any relevant app or voice enabled service in fact mata functions as a local connection protocol based on ip addresses and can use both wi-fi and thread as a connection method additionally mata does not depend on a specific cloud platform therefore device manufacturers and developers do not need to develop and maintain multiple interfaces to adapt to different platforms which greatly reduces the development workload and eliminates a series of troubles such as platform compatibility and maintenance of different platform software versions espressif is an active member of the connectivity standards alliance and has joined the mata program since its inception our esp32 esp32s an esp32c series of socs can already be used for building mata devices based on the wi-fi protocol our newly launched esp32h2 also allows building matter devices based on the thread protocol it is worth mentioning that esp32h2 which leverages espresso's wi-fi and thread capabilities can be used to build thread-border routers that connect thread and wi-fi networks what's more esp32h2 can also be used to build zigbee gateways allowing users to control devices in the existing zigbee network through the matter protocol thus with esp32h2 espresso can now provide users with a full-featured matter protocol solution namely interconnected mata devices using either wifi or thread as well as thread border routers and zigbee gateways containing expressive socs we expect that the mata certification project will start in the first half of 2022 the first batch of mata devices based on esp socs should appear on the market soon afterwards next we will demonstrate how to use an app on our mobile phone to control a thread and device containing esp32h2 via matter threadborder routers are general purpose devices like wi-fi routers and can support a variety of application layers based on ip networks first we connect the border router to the same wi-fi network as the computer and the mobile phone then we use the mobile phone to establish a bluetooth le connection over which network provisioning data are sent to the esp32h2 device via the mata protocol after configuring the network like this we can use the relevant mobile phone app to control the thread and device containing esp32h2 through the meta protocol now let's get back to esp32h2 and focus on its technical characteristics in general esp32h2 supports the latest thread and zigbee protocols and is equipped with a risc-5 32-bit single core processor with a clock speed of up to 96 megahertz esp-32h2 has a built-in 256 kilobyte sram and supports external flash it also has 26 programmable gpio pins and supports a variety of peripherals including adc fbi uart i squared c i squared s rmt gdma and pwm esp32h2 also has a complete security mechanism including secure boot based on ecc flash encryption based on the aes hardware accelerator digital signature and the hmac peripheral for identity protection as well as other hardware accelerators for enhanced performance thus esp32h2 ensures that iot devices have a reliable and secure connection in the future we'll continue following
