what's going on everybody welcome back to the channel if you're new I'm Jeff this is BC Motorsports today we're back on the C10 we've been putting in quite a bit of work we're moving right along with the build So today we're going to be installing some easy latches these are from trick they're the Altman easy latch I think I'm saying that correctly they're pretty straightforward they do give you some detailed instructions so we have our Striker right there the striker plate our latch and then this template which I already cut it out but first thing we're going to do is take this template right here line up that bolt hole right there fold this seam so it lines up nice along the edge right there trace it out cut it then once it's cut out we can take our latch set it inside there get it where we like it and then we will Mark and drill drill out all these holes so we can mount it so that's the first step so let's get some tools and get after it [Music] [Music] thank you got my template Trace so one thing you do is you do not cut this that's just there to line you up with that hole so we're going to cut straight across right there so do not Trace around the little handle right there that's just to line you up so you're going to cut straight across so I'm going to get some tools cut this out and then we'll fit up the latch and see how it fits so I did forget to mention some of the doors have this little kick out right here which the latch has as well that little kick out right there but I guess some do not so if your door does not have the little kick out in it you have to trim this off right here but we have the little kick out in the door right there so we don't have to trim the latch which I like it because it actually kind of locks the latch in there's not much play right there by the looks of it so get this all cut out and then we'll fit it up [Music] all right [Applause] [Music] all right guys so I got the hole cut out the next thing we got to do it says in the instructions pull it up it says in the instructions the hole we used for a starting point we're going to measure down from the center of that hole down three quarters of the way and make a mark so I'm going to Mark the center of this hole right here and I'm going to measure down three quarters make a mark and that's going to be the edge of my latch so I know where it needs to sit all right so I made my mark right there that's where the top of the latch is going to sit so hit the latch here so it's going to sit out right there that's good on my Corners I'm not caught up on anything fits pretty good that's pretty good so I'm going to clamp this down right here and then I'm going to go through and Mark all my holes drill them out and then we can mount it [Music] all right guys I got the latch installed all the bolts are snug I didn't put the washers on on the back side because I'm going to take this off after it's all fitted up so I can prep the inside of my doors so next step is the striker we have the striker plate right here there's the striker it threads in right there you do have to use the old backing plate off your old Striker or whatever you want to call this so we do have to use the old backing plate right here I'm gonna get that off and then we will get it installed all right so we have our Striker plate right here the striker it does have this concave washer that you put on right there so if you're trying to figure out which way the plate goes you want your Striker to be up as high as possible and in as far as it can go so you can tell the difference on the gaps between right there and right there and obviously we want to be in towards the cab as close as much as we can so it feels like this or too low and we're in but we want to be high so that's kind of a way to tell which way your Striker plate goes so that on right there right there adjust it so that's the next step I'm going to do that real quick and then we're going to line it up with the door latch [Music] set the door let's see how she fits when you first shut it take your time go slow make sure everything's lining up you don't want to just slam it shut and damage your latch so just kind of look at it see where it needs to go as you can see right there it's way low um it's hitting so I need to adjust the plate up and then we'll try it again so let's do it [Music] all right so I adjusted the striker plate I raised it up let's try it now let's see here oh yeah that's a lot better I think looks good nice try it again double check clearing perfect I might slide it in I'm going to slide the plate in just a little bit I'm out a little bit not where we want that door set so I like the height so now I'm just going to move the plate in right there after I get the plate moved in right there then we're going to repeat everything on the other side all right guys I got everything done on both sides the only thing I'm not doing right now is you do have to trim your rods down for the inside of the doors I'm getting new rods and also your locks have new little pieces right there that go on your locks but I don't have my door handles or my rods and I need new locks so once I get that it shows you you just trim off a little bit and then reinstall them and then install new little levers on your logs everything's done let's check it out I am very happy with the way these turned out thank you so got it installed shuts with ease look at that perfect easy that is crazy that is insane [Music] that was crazy um so if you're on the fence about these latches I would definitely say Do It is well worth the money upgrade your latches get rid of those old crappy latches don't worry about oh my God I'm gonna cut a factory door you're gonna cut that original door up cut the door up install these latches you will not be disappointed I'm very happy with it all right guys that's gonna be it for this video I hope it was helpful if it was helpful do me a favor hit
