hey what's going on guys mark here when we install a custom car audio system into a vehicle we will of course need to make a power wire connection to the positive terminal of a battery now in the past this wasn't such a big deal you would simply cut off the OEM battery terminal you would add that wire into your new aftermarket one attach your wires and you'd be good to go but the problem that we're seeing in newer vehicles is things like a fusible link or other om electrical devices that are attached directly to the battery terminal when those things are on the stock battery terminal we can no longer simply cut them away and replace them with an aftermarket one even if you have a vehicle that those devices aren't in the way maybe it's a lease maybe you want to uphold the original integrity of the vehicle and you don't want it to go around cutting any wire harnesses so if you can't or don't want to cut anything what can we still do to add an aftermarket terminal well today we're going to be looking at this unique terminal this is the ultimate battery terminal from new concepts let's dive in and I'm going to show you how it solves these issues so let's get started with unboxing the ultimate battery terminal now of course as you can see there's a positive version and a negative version and the reason for that is because battery terminals are actually different sizes that way you can't accidentally tighten down the positive battery terminal on the negative so I'm gonna be showing you guys the positive terminal first here let's get it opened up so inside the packaging we have the device itself and then we of course have the labeling here along with a note that discusses that SAE standard that I was just referring to the device is covered with this protective boot and I'm going to go ahead and unattach this fastener on the side this is for a ring terminal I'm going to detach that so we can take the boot off so with the boot off we can get a little bit better look at this terminal and how it works before we get into functionality though let's take a few measurements just to get an idea on the size this is basically two inches by two inches and about one inch tall now as far as connections go you can see that we have a zero gauge size terminal a four gauge and an eight gauge so up until now you're probably thinking mark this is just a terminal just like any other terminal on the market but right here this is where the magic starts to come in so I have a battery here for illustrative purposes let's say that this is installed into the vehicle you guys are probably really familiar with seeing something like this installed from the factory we want to install this aftermarket battery terminal because of course we need to connect our amplifier power lead and we also want to do things like connecting big three wires that sort of thing so we have to remove this and replace it with this but the problem becomes that I still need to attach this wire that because this is going to the vehicle's charging system or the starter so what I would normally do is cut this get rid of this and put it inside here but what if this is a leased vehicle what if I don't want to cut anything or like I talked about in the intro of the video what if this is a fusible link where there's a fuse tied into the vehicle's electrical system we can't get rid of that we can't just simply cut it well what we can do instead is we're going to look to this magical port here I'm going to unscrew this and new concepts also sells these what I'll do with this is I will thread it into the ultimate battery terminal so with this assembly made now what I will be able to do is I'll be able to install it onto the battery and then I can take the OEM wiring configuration and I can attach that on to that new side post so because the side post functionality is designed in I can retain my oh my ring now what if you do plan to use this as a normal battery terminal let's say that you can in fact cut this wiring because you own the vehicle you're not concerned about that that doesn't mean that this port is useless we can still use it for something very valuable we can use it for something like these guys right here these are ring terminals we would line up the ring terminal on the side of the ultimate battery terminal here and then use the provided screw to secure it the advantage of this is now I could connect to 0 gage leads if I needed to and as I'm sure you guys are aware there's obviously multiple different sized ring terminals this one here is a 4 gauge terminal so if you needed to four gauge connections you can attach this one instead now I know a lot of you guys out there are very observant so you've probably already these brass pins what are those for well these are to solve an issue that can happen to the best of us sometimes when you go to thread in a fastener if you torque it down too hard or if you accidentally cross thread it it can permanently ruin at the battery terminal but in the case of the ultimate battery terminal if we remove this screw here and we flip this over you can see that these brass pins are completely replaceable so if you did ever accidentally cross thread one of these you don't have to replace the whole terminal anymore and replace and redo all the wiring you can keep all that stuff connected you just swap out these pins and you're good to go so if you're wondering about the reason for this slot on the end of the pin the reason for that is so that you know the orientation of the hole going through so that you can line up everything for the fastener let's do a quick little sample install here so obviously on my ultimate battery terminal upside down I want to attach my aftermarket wires first so I'm going to loosen these set screws this here is the zero gauge and trent's I'll add my zero gauge wire first and tighten this down and for illustrative purposes let's say that we have this four gauge connection to make as well so here we have it our two wired connections almost forgot to mention we'd also have our boot which we pull over the wires and then we can pull that over the terminal and just in case you're wondering the boot does have a hole that allows us to tighten this down onto the battery so now we are ready to go install the wires with the ultimate battery terminal on top of the battery here and I'm using this four millimeter allen wrench in order to tighten this on now something I did want to know is this four millimeter allen wrench has worked for tightening the terminal itself it's also worked for securing the zero gauge and it's the same size that we'll use to tighten the post so I like that it's a consistent screw size throughout nevertheless gonna get this screw tighten down nice so our terminal is held on to the battery really well I can lift the battery with the terminal right now so we're good and finally I still need to attach the OEM vehicle wiring so I'll attach this side post and this of course will vary from vehicle to vehicle but in my case I'm going to tighten it down with the infamous ten millimeter socket now once we bundle all these wires together in secure them in place like you would in a proper install you can see that we have a nice real clean looking installation now obviously everything we've done so far is for the positive battery terminal don't forget that they also have a negative ultimate battery terminal that has the sae size that will fit on a negative battery terminal this is important because if you're doing something like the big three upgrade where you need to attach a much larger wire to the negative battery ground in the vehicle that gives you somewhere else to attach it to and otherwise the design of this is exactly the same as the positive terminal it also has this removable screw that we can attach a post to on the side so the next time you're installing a car audio system and you need a battery terminal and you want something that has a lot of flexibility or allows you to retain the OEM battery harnesses take a look at the new concepts ultimate battery terminal I'll put some links down in the video description to make it easy so you guys can check it out special thanks to new concepts for sponsoring the video sending over the ultimate battery terminals so that I could show them on video to all of you actually did some other videos with new concepts a long long time ago when I originally started the channel so if you want to check out one of my old videos and check out some of their other gear you can do so here on screen as always my friends thank you guys for watching don't forget to design build and install
