[UPDATED 2023] How to FIX Disk Read Error (Steam)

hey guys so sometimes when downloading a steam game you encounter discrete error which appears during or after you have downloaded the game in order to fix this read error we're going to introduce free fixes mainly it's actually very easy thing to fix so no worries so first we're going to set the steam to be run with administrator privileges so first we're going to go to the windows search we're going to type in Steam we're going to right click on the Steam app it appears right here we're going to click open file location then once this open opens then we're going to click on the shortcut icon right here and we're going to go down to the properties we're going to click on compatibility and we're going to check the run this program as administrator so first we're going to click on apply and then afterwards we're going to hit OK so this is the first part of the fix this already might work for you but not necessarily so the second things we're going to put forward is going to be by opening steam so this time we're going to search for steam and we're actually going to to open the Sim app and we're gonna go to the settings okay so as you can see um I have set the administrative privileges so I'm just going to hit continue this is normal just hit continue if this occurs and now I think it's going to ask me to either log in again or it's just going to log me log it in by itself we're going to see this might take a while okay so we're gonna go to the steam in the top right corner we're gonna go to settings and we're gonna go to the storage now once in the storage we're going to go to the disk that where we have our games and the game that we currently have issue with because this read error is a game specific issue let's say I have issue with my Global Offensive game and this is why I have to clear sorry repair the folder for the D disk right so you have to have to this usually one C and the other one is D we could have multiple disk of course but in this case I have my game on the D disk so I'll be repairing the folder on the D disk so you just hit repair folder it usually takes one to two minutes to fix the issue and then you restart this team okay
