hello everyone today we are going to make a dune scene a scene which i am inspired from the movie dune itself from then i was thinking about how i can make such a scene in unreal engine 5. there is a simulation going on you know his clothes are flying and there are some distance frogs some closed forks definitely their default particles nothing fancy i make the landscape material from nega scan and i'm build dune with the help of landmass plugin which is present in unreal engine 4 and 5. so without wasting our time let's get to into the tutorial okay first of all open the quicksilver briefs and search for bright white sand maybe bright deserts yes bright desert sun and then if your undue engine is open then you should go to export it export is successful it's gonna import that material here so that's that's the desert or dune material so at this point you're probably wondering why am i using unreal engine 4 well that's because i tried to make the dune in undeal engine 5 but stuck on a point where very last point when i was trying to use the landmass plugin it doesn't work that way and even i can't control the scale or size of the dune so i tried it in intelligent 4 and it's totally fine and after that i just upgraded the project in on religion 5 and done the extra work there oops that makes sense okay so first layout default layout okay i'm gonna save my project here in folder i'm gonna name it doom okay file new level empty level take an empty level light directional light that here open the sky atmosphere go to the directional light look for the effect by the way put it in movable because we are not going to break any light and go down until you find atmosphere and cloud atmosphere sunlight click that button and you get the atmosphere now go to the mode landscape mode and this setting is very much important enable edit layer take that and take the 127 into 127 quartz press the create here's the blank scene landscape now go to the select mode select the landscape and search the material which you downloaded from mega screen here's the material put that into the landscape material boom you get the desert but it's nothing looks like a desert so open the material let me push it aside a little bit okay uh there's the albedo change [Music] i want something warmer something like that i don't want it's so much glossy so i put 0.1 to the sand this is pretty much it say close that oh i forgot one thing open that click the tiling and put point one point one xy tally save now you can start to see if you can start to see some ripples here you see it when you move the sun now you can see it see now it's much clearer the ripples are clear that's your flat dune okay now what go to the [Music] landscape mode again this time sculpt click the blueprint rename it dune and click by the way you have to enable the landmass plugin so go to the plugins type landmass yes that's the plugin you have to enable it restart your engine safe select it you have to set the label dune set okay now you can go to landscape mode scout oh sorry you have to open the map down double click on it here's here's your map go to mode landscape sculpting and blueprints now there you can find that so custom brush material only click on that and click in the report nothing happens but don't worry now create a new layer this time click on the custom brush length and then click there it will create a something like that okay now you can delete the layer one now the tune is ready but it looks nothing like that everything is messy so go to select mode select the material and so select the material landscape custom brush material that's the material for the tiling to point one pam and elevation scale should be 2 000 [Applause] [Music] there you can change the style if you change the sets it's very much procedural so here's the octaves put that put one there it's much cleaner and smaller well i'm going to the atmosphere i'm going trying to give it to its atmosphere like this go to the atmosphere sky smart atmosphere and maybe one and that should be four point five i'm trying to experimenting with a bit by the way you have to put the volumetric cloud yeah actually 4.5 liter bottom their heart should be nine put the skylight here and we'll team capture intensity to 1.5 go to the directional light sorry that's atmosphere atmosphere find the custom noise and there's a three in the gradient and five to the vernoi so we want the four nine so we definitely put there five put that save okay so this is our new material and this dune is based on this material so now we're going to assign this material to here now you can see those edges are sharp like a dune when the winds blow here it becomes sharper see so this is our dune you can modify it customize it whatever however you want go for your look what kind of look you're after go for that just go for that so the underneath four part is done now we are going to upgrade we are going to save this project now we are going to upgrade this project into underlining 5 then we will make the rest tutorial so i just convert this project to under engine 5 and then open it in undulation 5 it took some while and after that i make few adjustments there at first it seems like this is different but this is not different i put some fog there by the way these are fog sheets these are available in the engine just search for fox sheet in engine volumetrics you can find that and then i just scattered them here and there i took this character from mixiamo and modified them and make a scarf or whatever you say cloth simulation in autotex maya then import it here as alembic then i organized all them in sequencer timing them and make a good shot so now you can enjoy it i
