[Applause] [Music] hey it's yavo yahya if you're here to learn more about lighting and architectures in unreal engine 5 in today's tutorial we will make the process of preparing exporting importing and learning your projects fast efficient and easy let me take a breath i trust you will learn many useful things today if you do leave your boy a like and if you have any questions leave them in the comments let's get started [Music] alright so here is a project i got from overmotion took me 2.5 hours to render that image let me start with adjusting the background in 3ds max so it can be more comfortable to work with i will start by showing the layers so let me fix this first so i'm gonna hide the lights and the cameras reduce the visual clutter and now i'm going to start detaching my meshes so now the ceiling is way way way too large to be sent to a game engine so i'm gonna select some parts of it and start detaching them so here you touch this part i'm just making them smaller now since i'm using the touch a lot i'm going to set a shortcut for it i set a shortcut for the hotkey editor first then i set a shortcut for whatever tool i use always so every time i notice myself using a tool all the time or a command i would set shortcut for it this is a new installation of 3ds max thanks to aces who sent me a laptop recently you get to see how i set up everything from scratch also set a shortcut for exports which is in my case alt e i don't click on file and export every single time i just send a shortcut for that and now i'm going to download data math to be able to export my projects from 3ds max or any other tool like sketchup or rivet card installing data of math is pretty straightforward once you finish downloading the plugin just hit install select the versions of 3ds max or any tool you use basically that's it [Music] now once we install datasmith let's open 3ds max again let's open our project i will select the building and export this separately i usually have a folder called dt underscore temp that's where i save all my files i'm going to choose selection only and export my project yeah finally let's do my favorite thing ignore it we can always solve this back in engine so i'm going to select the furniture and export it as well [Music] select all the lights the meshes of the lights and also export them call them lights [Music] if i'm editing or doing revisions on one full layer it will be easy to replace that layer or just to do revisions in general so i'm gonna now make unreal engine 5 project i always choose the aec template because it has some pre-enabled plugins that we can enable like data smav sun and sky the hdri and many other plugins and console commands so i'm going to make a new folder call it arch interiors 44 the name of the collection i got this model from and i'm going to make two folders dt and maps and i will select my files all of them and save them in dt folder then click ok let's just import the materials the lights and the geometry see how it goes i think i'm gonna save everything it will also take so long to compile the shaders maybe this is a good time to remind you to hit that subscribe button [Music] i exported the cameras separately so let's find these cameras we can click on perspective on the top left and select the camera and then we can switch to unlead to see our scene without the effect of laying i'm going to type camera in the word outliner and move these cameras outside and there are some files i don't know what are they exactly i'm going to delete but i think i deleted the camera target by mistake so i'm going to press ctrl z just clean the word outliner a little bit whenever it's possible for you to clean up the word outliner just do it don't let it contain so many assets you're not using or assets you could group together so i did this automatically when i imported cameras because it's supposed only to have four objects like two cameras two targets now let's make a new project new folder call it project and let's make another folder call it game or the word this is where i put the lighting and whatnot and i'm gonna move the word outliner which it was and save everything while it's compiling the shaders maybe get some coffee if you want to watch these videos earlier you should definitely go to vrdvisionacademy.com many of these videos are on the academy for free with no ads go and sign up make an account it's going to be fun i really hate the refraction on the glass materials so i am going to fix that by just setting the ior index of refraction from 1.5 to 1 i don't like refraction when i'm working on my projects so i'm gonna click on window and open the environment light mixer create a directional light a skylight on the sky atmosphere as you can see i'm pressing ctrl l and moving my mouse left and right or up and down to control the direction of the sun and we just added post process volume i'm going to enable infinite extent and the easiest way to do that i usually just like to close all windows as you can see here i have a laptop so i just close all windows and now the next thing is turning off auto exposure you set the min and the max ev to the same number and then you play with the exposure compensation [Music] and here i also turn off the lens effects i don't want bouquet or anything and i am switching to the cameras and using as you can see everything went to black that's because these cameras have their own exposure effects enabled so if you're wondering hey i am importing my cameras from or corona and like it's everything is dark that's because they have their own exposure controls that you can overrate and now just like that look how beautiful this ends this is lumen with the lowest settings just one light which is the sun in real time when i first saw this i was like wow because i am seeing this now in real time and i know if i can spend some time on it i can make it look amazing comparing to this picture it's mind blowing for me this is why i love android engine 5 and lumen and 99 so here i am where i have so many lights i export all of them and the scene the frame rate now is going to die i immediately switched to unlead to select all the lights and then put their intensity on zero all of them ctrl shift a to select similar set everything to zero i don't know how this works exactly in max but here it seems like we have two or three light sources i end up cleaning up these lights and leaving one light source and every time i identify one light source i press ctrl shift a to select every similar light and set it on zero so now i start experimenting with these lights i'm trying like these different settings with one light and i was like wow this is cool i decided to group all these lights in their own folder to make it easy to select because now the word outliner is kinda messy and this is what i mean separate and organize your files name your lights and meshes and whatnot [Music] spotlight b i just copy the name and place all these b spotlights i decide hey before i do anything i'm going to organize the scene first to make my life easy and that's what i do so let's organize the scene here i'm not sure what light i'm choosing so i just move it on the z just to see what's going on beautiful here i remember yo take some screenshots because you are making some progress i choose the same camera angle and i choose camera so i can always have the same aspect ratio and i take some screenshots and i start playing with the intensity of the lights and i'm extremely happy i think screenshots to showcase your progress from the very start are very nice way to add to your art station page when you present your project making new folders when you select so many assets and right click you have option called move to here i am trying to play with the intensity and as you can see the moment i set it to when my pc died so these are way too many lights i isolate my selection isolating my selection option show only selected is one of the best things ever happened to me it's so easy to select these slides from an orthographic view and just move them to new folders so now just by turning off and on folders i know what's going on so i can just rename everything the way i like give it a recognizable folder for me or for my teammates since this is the project i got like from over motion i don't know exactly what i'm getting when i hit that export button i considered each project at the challenge to make it look nice as a light study i hope you're enjoying this so far if you do you know what to do you can copy spotlights or actors to the notepad if you don't know that there is lumen in action just by holding ctrl l you can switch between day and night cycle with a click of a button on the mouse [Music] so [Music] so i will start selecting now all the duplicates and decide what type of lights i'm going to leave to atomize my project and just make it easier for me to switch between lighting scenarios [Music] you know select these lights and also increase the intensity of this room i would love to see how it looks from the camera angle so i select now spotlights type e and the intensity the room looks very nice what i love about andrea it makes projects like this explorable you can go visit any room you like here i think these glass objects are way too dark so i open their material instance and start playing with the parameters i see this is how i approach each project with some curiosity and just look at things and wonder hey why this looks completely black open the material and change it to the way i like and i do that by changing all the options on that material instance deciding if i want so much refraction or i don't want any refraction if you want it dark darker and this is how data smith exports my materials from the 3ds max scene to unreal engine i love playing with colors here i decide to select all the lights within the chandelier there are like 40 lights so now we have 40 lights while i am increasing the intensity of these lights i switch them to removable just to make sure i lose all my frames like look how 14 frames per second but it still blows my mind that i don't know what 60 lights now in the scene minimum in real time on my 30 70 mobile so i have asus pro art 16 i keep organizing my lights into folders so it would be easier to select these slide groups now here we have the skylight portals we create inside v-ray 3ds max they are converted to skylight porters for the light mass if you want to peg the light i delete them and i experiment with the layering in the hallway here these are lumen reflections and there seem to be something wrong with that texture or the material so i start playing with the reflection wow this is so cool so i select now all three rectangular lights and increase their intensity the reflection look amazing i delete half of the lights to save on the performance then select all these lights again right click move to new folder and the same for these lights as well [Music] [Music] and when i look at that side on the left you will notice the frame drops that's because we have 40 lights these small lights rendering at once but it is beautiful [Music] so here i decide to enable gpu light mass and i go to plugins and enable it and to enable the gpu light mask we need to enable ray tracing so i search for ray tracing in the project settings i enable it default rhi we switch it from default to directx 12 for ray tracing to work hey thank you for watching don't forget to leave a like and share the video if you found it useful if you watched all the video can you type in the comments i watched all the video so i know you did with that said mwah see you soon guys hey guys if you're learning gloman
