hello Mr Ed here on another gorgeous gorgeous spring day in Southeast Louisiana where today it is what day is Joey I don't know I slept I think it's it's march today is the 11th hey okay so it's March 11. 2023 and we are back at the house in Madisonville last year Charlie and I we visited this place three times last year and very similar to the to The Beehive house right there by the Abbey this I believe is another one of those locations where the bees have been in here for so many times that this they just keep reinfesting this area now the homeowner did actually repair the damage that we had done removing the sheetrock to get to the bees but made a small error of not Caulking and filling in all the little crevices and here we are 2023 and we got bees look at this zoom in and show them right here where they're coming in hang on right there so the bees have gotten into the area where these pipes are moving or going up into into the joists above it and had he sealed that area well the bees wouldn't have been here so we're going to go ahead and and I don't know how long these bees have been here whether this is a brand new swarm or whether uh it was a a swarm from late last year and they they've uh got a lot of comb in there but I don't think there's a lot of cone because I did shoot the flare upstairs and the signature I got was pretty small so I'm guessing that it is a pretty new swarm and there won't be a lot of comb in there but there probably will be a lot of bees but by the grace of God these bees right here that come back with me to the ad all right Charlie are you ready huh are you ready I'm always ready all right so let's accept I want you to see remember the last video we will color coordinated you know look you see here we go again I'm white I'm orange so that's the whole deal you got to keep Charlie guessing because see he's old and like he forgets and so I try to like challenge him with with what I'm going to be wearing because I don't call it it hurts my head it hurts that's your angles of bees I'm getting ready open up the ceiling right here because there's so much insulation here I can't even get a reading where the bees are but I know the bees are in that same spot Charlie and I pulled them out the last time but there's also one more thing that we're getting ready to do too well after we remove these bees we're going to set up swarm traps we're going to set a swarm trap in this area and then in the front where we call them last year so we're going to remove these and we're going to set set swamp trap so it's kind of like a two for one video right let's go ahead and open up the ceiling all right [Applause] guess what y'all we found it we got these all right that's good foreign that was that is a very large swarm or healthy for sure and thankfully it's a new one I'm gonna I'm gonna just use the everything be back on this one and we're gonna go ahead and vacuum these bees out of here should not take long check that out we got a light up in there so you all can see really good as we're back in this they're pretty calm and they should be for a swarm so let's go ahead and vacuum foreign right here [Music] [Music] [Music] have some vertical [Music] [Music] [Music] ain't nothing in it bring that up foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] foreign look at that down to well there might be another piece behind that one as well so it's at least down to the last part of the hive and judging on brood that I saw in this Hive this Hive has been here no more than seven is how long it's been in here and so that's how much and I base that on the uncapped brood that I saw in the cone um that's a pretty good guess I would think about as to how long these bees have been in here and with a laying Queen that we know we have this is it just proves the fact that these first swarms of the season the primary swarms our old Queen goes with them and she comes out of that swarm ready to lay eggs so we're going to capitalize on on this high right here we're gonna get these in a box up at the Abbey and let her go back to work there has been very very little stores of nectar there's some but what I'm going to do when I set them up and I'm going to be able to use a lot of that comb I'm going to go ahead and drop been a couple of frames of honey for these girls I'll let that down to let them get established and get to work on that now let's see if we can find Our Queen [Music] oh foreign she's right in the very tip Corner Charlie I'll see her butt [Music] s she's right there in the corner right yeah right there beautiful [Music] boy got him get her come on show me your fingers that's wild attraction got you oh lovely lovely we've got the queen thank you Jesus wow all the way to the end to the very end all right let's finish backing up these bees and see what we got we got the stand set and this is the Trap that we're gonna use we're gonna put a little nuke box up there in this one we got really nice old Brew tone these are all cut out stuff from last year drop all this stuff in there and we're gonna go ahead and we're gonna on this this one we're gonna you I really love lemongrass all but we're gonna go ahead and use our swarm rustler again we're gonna do one squirt up on the top and then we're gonna do one squirt on the Q-tip and we're going to drop that in there put that here and then we're gonna put one squirt on the entrance that's all you need and now we're going to set our box up here and you can see we already got them bees they they do love that stuff that that's normal let me get a strap there you go first one set now this next one's gonna be a lot harder to set than this one because I don't know how I'm gonna anchor it whatever first one is set this little box let's get some swarms here if we could use them time to set the Big Ten frame box and in this one it's all just old brewed comb nasty look at that that's from old cutout but we got 10 frames of this we got the I mean this is this is what we want old equipment and this is old bee box as old too got the old brood and then some kind of attractant and you don't you don't have to use warm rustler or swarm Commander I mean lemongrass all worked for me for years and years and years I just happened to Bob gave me some of this stuff and so I'm using it right now and I know it does work but there's other stuff out there and I know lemongrass oil probably is about seven dollars for a bottle swarm rustler is probably about 29 30 in Swan command about the same price lemongrass a lot cheaper but so this is what we can do we're gonna we're gonna do our Q-tip and I'm gonna drop that down here I've already sprayed on on this part right here so that's that's good enough that's all we need because you actually can use too much of this stuff and then we're gonna pick up our box and we've attached it our stand to the Post and you see it's there's a screen bottom on this and I don't like using screen bottoms most of our pods off-screen bottom but when you put it on a stand like this it covers it up and makes everything dark because bees especially swarms like the dark we're just gonna put it on there and we're going to strap that one down after it you put a shot on the entrance well I should put it down on there not on my hand there you go perfect all right we're going to strap this down and then we're gonna wrap up this video Charlie you got to grab the camera because we we got us we got us a situation here uh that it's unbelievable because we set these traps out and I believe we already got a swarm moving in over here now when I was vacuuming those bees over there there was just an inordinate amount of bees coming in it could not have been our field bees and our Queen was sitting on that little ledge right there and the bees were just coming to her so what I did was I took our Queen and I put her up here and we had bees coming from around over there and into our box over here and then we got them scouting the other box Charlie shoot down there and show they're scouting the other box this box let's get out in this one as well they're going in they're going in right here they're going in the box right there so it's just an unbelievable swamp season is definitely here on us and we're gonna we'll have a a swarm of bees in one of these boxes probably by the end of today amazing all right let me show you this because this is this is all the comb that we pulled out and and with I mean so that I'm saying this Hive has been in here for seven days and generally speaking when you have this new comb like that it's so super super soft that it just melts in your hand but what these bees haven't been able to do is actually put nectar in this stuff so it's not it's not really soft and it's very sturdy I mean you can see it I'll be able to frame this stuff up but what I want to show you here you go Charlie we'll show you you can see The Brood in there now that brood it's hatched eggs now of course it's just a guess on my part but we know if if the eggs three days for them to hatch so and these these larva they're I don't know they're pretty big so that's what that's what my guess is that the bees have been in here maybe 10 days two weeks at the most that these bees have been in there but I don't think it's two weeks I really don't because our old Queen when she she comes out it might take her a day or three before she starts laying but she's ready to lay so what's important is that the hive start building their comb for her to lay in as well as for them to bring in stores and they are bringing in pollen but very little very little nectar that's not a problem because I'm going to be feeding these bees anyway that's that's lovely now this was the other piece of comb that had a lot of brood and I don't know whether that camera is going to be able to pick it up but there you can see the larva inside of there and this stuff these these will not make it I'm sorry to say but these won't make it but look when I open up the cell look look at the larva let's see how we gotta record it huh oh it is recorded yes well how about this huh no granted I did have a queen up here from that high right there but the bees are moving in from over here they're just coming in and I did that because they tried to get into that spot over there well that's when I moved the queen over here and we've tried to get them to encourage them because the queen was here to go in here and I think it's going to work now it might be this afternoon this evening but before long oh yeah we're gonna have another one so so dirt rooster that's another one from Mr Ed you set your trap say your prayer catch us warm okay what can I say um what can you say John what about today the same old oh it's a great day great day temperature is good we got all the bees out of the um the um under the floor out of the ceiling yeah right got that and uh now we ended up with a swarm and I mean they just kept coming they're coming from the Woods back there somewhere that's it well let's do it thanks for watching keep on watching we'll be making more believe me God bless it's Mr Ed and Good Time Charlie we're out of here until the next video God bless everybody [Music]
