Thunderstorm, you have one of the most
special voices I've ever been around. It's like raspy and angelic
at the same time.... Like an angel that smokes. It's both though, it really is. Sing that song! All right! That is what this show is all about. That was unbelievable.
- So beautiful. Thank you, thank you. What's your name,
where you from? My name is Thunderstorm Artis. I'm from Haleiwa, Hawaii. Thunderstorm! My name is Thunderstorm Kahekili Maharani Artis. I'm from Haleiwa Hawaii. And I'm 23 years old. For my family my dad was the glue
that held us all together. We're a very artistic family. Because my dad had a background in
playing jazz piano but also being an artist. He taught my whole family to play
various different instruments and various styles of music. He was the most amazing person
that I've ever known. When I was 13 years old. He just had a heart attack
out of nowhere and... My dad passed away just out of the blue. That's why I really
started singing actually. Because of like not being honest
with emotions 100% at the time. Music was that one place that
I was allowed to be emotional. My brother actually took me under his wing. And then we played as a duo. We toured all around the US. We even played in Germany
and in Canada. Started off playing little
bar gigs and things like that. Kind of evolved into playing concert halls. We got into a couple festivals. And then about two years ago... he was like: "dude, your
music is getting so good." "I think you have something special to share..." "and I really want to see you, like..." "on a platform that you deserve to be on." My dad taught me everything
I know about music. Taught me everything I know about life. And about being a good person. So I'm gonna take that torch
that my dad passed me... I'm gonna take it right
through those doors... and on that stage. Your vocal control... was just perfect. And I need you on my team. I believe that with you we can go
very, very far together. There's definitely a story that
you can share with the world. And I'm telling you: They're gonna be honored
to get to hear you sing. And I would be honored
to be your coach man. So please, please pick me.
- Thank you. Thunderstorm... Your tone was magical. We heard it and one second in... we're like: this guy belongs on The Voice. And I would love to coach you, Thunderstorm. Thanks so much, John. Who are you gonna pick?
- Who are you gonna pick? Y'all ain't making this easy, man. Come on, Thunderstorm! I think I'm gonna go with John, man. Everytime. Oh man, I'm excited about this duet. Both of these artists are so distinctive. Thunderstorm, already has
the coolest name in the world. He's from Hawaii. I grew up in this little town
called Haleiwa Hawaii. And with a family of 11 kids... Our parents wanted to give each
and every one of us very unique names. Music was a thing that we did every day. Last year, I moved to Nashville Tennessee. To kind of, just be closer to different artists... And people who are more, kind of
more intentional about their writing the music. and I wanted to be around that
kind of music industry side. Hello! Hi! You two look so cool together. I'm not trying to play matchmaker but... y'all look very cool together. It's all her, not me. This is Ella Mai of course. These two, they have style and grace. That tone! Good lord! Thunderstorm's voice is amazing. I think there's such clarity in
his powerful moments and... then the raspiness comes in... and it just kind of hits you like:
wow, I didn't expect that. That rasp in your voice, oh good lord! It's so good. I think I would like to hear... a bit more of like dynamics with... softer and harder tones. I think you have it a little bit
more than, Thunderstorm. I agree. Find moments when
you're whispering more, like... catch moments when you're
in a vulnerable state you know? And you communicate that. Cedrice, Thunderstorm... I gotta say this is
one of the battles I was most... looking forward.... to seeing. And you guys did not disappoint. That was out of this world. Thank you, Nick. Thunderstorm, you really live up
to that name you know? You're gonna dominate musically
whatever it is you want to do. It'd be hard to contain that much talent. You have one of the most
special voices I've ever been around. It's like raspy and angelic
at the same time. Like an angel that smokes. It's both, though.
It really is. It kind of floats up there, but it
also got a ruggedness to it. The winner of this battle... is Thunderstorm. Thunderstorm, congratulations
you're moving on to the Knockouts! You two have been two of
my favorite artists to watch. Both of you are so good. But I have to make a decision. John the time has come... who is the winner of this Knockout? The winner of this Knockout... is Mandy. Mandy, congratulations! That means you're moving on
to the Live Playoffs! This was tough for me, I have loved
Thunderstorm since the blinds... but Mandy deserved to win. She keeps impressing me,
keeps surprising me. And I'm hoping she continues
to do the same. Coaches let me remind you,
Thunderstorm is available to steal. Thunderstorm, anything you
want to say to your coach? Yeah John, thank you so much
for the opportunity... just being able to work with you, man. It just meant so much. Give it up again,
for Thunderstorm Artis. There it is! That's the sound of a steal! I felt it, I felt it. A storm is approaching. A storm is on the rise. A storm is taking the nation by storm. I've been coming up with some
cool, like, slogans for you. Sounds good, man. I've been watching you since
I turned my chair for you at the blinds. And I'm so glad that our
paths met back up. Yeah. You killed it, last week. Thanks Nick, man,
that means a lot. Having seen your heart and your humility. It really shows through your music. And you've got a really
natural storytelling voice. What I want to know is,
who you're dedicating this song to. I'm dedicating this song to
my lovely wife, Faith Artis. I got married to my wife on Good Friday. It's been the dream to find a woman
that I can call my wife. And that I can stick with. That sense of home
with that person that... you're connected to,
that's definitely the most rewarding. It's so great that you see that, even
in this kind of early stage in your career. Thunderstorm is someone that I think... How is this guy not already on the radio? But after this show, he will have a place... in pop culture. And means something to people
all around the world. Thunderstorm, I am I'm so grateful... that you sang that song, you know I.. I wake up each day,
as I'm sure so many of us do... in this time when we've
been quarantined at home. Trying to find ways to stay encouraged. And trying to find ways
to stay connected to the ones I love. And to remember that... you know, although we're going
through a really tough time. There is hope in this world
and it is a wonderful world. And I believe we'll get
back to days like that. And I'm so grateful you brought
that message to the world. With such pure and emotional artistry. And with such vocal excellence. I hope America loved it as much as I did. And just, thank you for
doing that, it was incredible. Thank you, Nick. All right, the moment we've all
been waiting for... here we go. The winner of The Voice is... Todd Tillman, Congratulations!
