[Music] setting off it's time to go the engines running [Music] I always knew this day was coming nice now it's more [Music] hey running [Applause] [Music] I swear [Music] we live [Music] [Applause] [Music] right [Music] here [Applause] [Music] foreign [Music] [Applause] Australia meet Alfie I work as an architect and my job involves dealing with clients initial design concept phase right through to construction on site the most rewarding thing about being an architect is seeing my vision come to life around me dining table here yeah when Michelle have her dinner nice big one singing is new to me like it's it's something that I've only recently sort of developed so yeah the whole voice thing is quite unknown that I could count on one hand how many times I've sung in front of people I feel a bit vulnerable in those sort of settings it's quite daunting yeah [Music] oh good how are you how are you did you bring enough paper with you so you're an architect yes so why would you want to give up being an architect that's a pretty good job look I went inside I'd give it up Complete because I love it I just love seeing you know I was probably just like everyone else always sang in the shower and I don't know I never thought I was any good and then my sister was diagnosed with cancer like two weeks before her wedding she had Hodgkin's in front of me she was going through chemotherapy the week before her wedding I wanted to do something nice for her so I ended up singing her Bridal Waltz for her husband it was the most incredible thing I've ever done what did you sing uh All of Me by John Legend yeah that was that reverse dance and I kept crying because I just couldn't so romantic yeah how are you now is everything better now my hair is growing everything's good yeah everything's good all right I'll be gonna be awesome I just know it no we'll all be cheering you on thank you very much [Applause] I'm an architect an architect yes yes nice anything you would change on the set that we should move around um I'd probably make a little bit darker because when I see the people in the audience it really made me very nervous oh first my team can we please please so Alfie first things first I'm building a house so I need an architect which is great it's a big job that's box ticked we'll have to discuss my fees with you then okay right okay how long have you sung for like a little bit over a year yeah wow how did you just wait I'll Discover it I'm building this wall right now you're like whoa I can sing no um I've always loved singing But I um I never thought I was any good and it wasn't until my actually my sister she got Hodgkin's lymphoma like Q Delta and that was like motivation for me to I don't know get some courage like what she was portraying at the time and had she has she gotten through has she she went into a mission about six months after treatment and she felt pregnant straight away so she's got she's actually watching she's watching wherever that room is they're in that little baby yeah so it's funny because during her treatment my mum had a photo of you on our fridge for the whole treatment wow and I I asked her what that was for one day and she said it was so to give my sister courage because you know you went through it and and now you're where you are I'm honored that your sister would would have me in that time and I'm so proud and happy for you guys that I felt a beautiful connection to your voice and your moment and I turned around because I would love to be your coach and love to be on the journey with you you have a beautiful voice that um that I'm excited to continue to hear singing Alfie how old are you I'm 27. it's just incredible that you're you're an architect yeah yeah thank you yeah so be careful going with the moderns because they'll cocked out you know they'll have you they'll have you yeah horrible man it's exciting to have someone like you on the show like seriously I mean that sort of tone that sort of voice I know very well and I love the song Choice absolutely beautiful a pleasure to listen to you know you've got those velvety creamy chocolatey tones man and I can already tell it from your Vibe who you are you know in your heart and soul I love it and I know we could work so well together man okay big time we could win this we could win this I think that Australia is gonna love you man I think you are a classic singer thank you so much when I heard you saying I was like that that's a voice not I want to go in the studio with I'm excited to get to work with you and I'm excited all the possibilities of what we can do thank you I'll share my experiences with you I think that soul that you've got celebrate that with you yeah it'll be no time to celebrate though you got to work you're building a house but I think you're wonderful I'd love you very much thank you so much Alfie Alfie me mate I'm gonna be happy for you no matter who you choose because I'm glad you're on this show thank you so much yeah but you got to choose okay um this is really hard because like I love all of you and hopeful I think [Applause] we got a Delta drag me down Alfie is so green to music yet she's tapped into his heart and soul when he sings nobody nobody Andrew's a really good singer he absolutely smashed it Andrew your knowledge and talent is so exciting ever since I could talk I've been singing it like you know in front of my family in front of my friends Andrew's only 19 years old and he comes in here with a lot of experience he knows himself he is aware it would be a little bit daunting right now for Alfie because Andrew does have the technical experience have you ever harmonized with anyone no no when it comes to the technicalities like I just I've got no idea [Music] probably one of the first things you kind of learn when singing with somebody else you're aware how talented you are minus any training that's going on here yeah are you aware of this I feel untalented right now no Alfie he has to find confidence in himself you are my hardest battle I know it you both have the ability I reckon to go all the way [Music] [Applause] it's always [Music] through is [Applause] [Music] family [Applause] [Music] before the voice I was working as an architect every day and having routine now this is so crazy I think that we're in you know the final 16. this is bring a bit of sexy to this song okay it's got to be sexy it's all right I gotta take my clothes off or something let's have a sing-through I'm on board bringing the sexiness to the song it will be a challenge sexy can become awkward with me I don't know we'll have to wait and see so at the start it doesn't have to be as like aggressive as that first yeah yeah I do that when I'm being sexy though yeah it's my sexy face [Applause] screw into it imagine it's just you and one other person and you gotta think of it a bit like a striptease you can't go giving it all at the start you gotta take off layer by layer yeah yeah yes okay I'm making myself blush he sucks in and commit to it because if you only kind of go halfway then it then it can fall flat real on the man reel them in to be sexy and confident and he did that this week it's about everyone falling in love with him again how you feeling awesome the song I've given Alfie for live show too is Lay Me Down Sam Smith I love that song me too it's actually one of my favorites I connect a lot with this song because like I recently lost someone do you mind me asking what happened my uncle passed away are you sick for five years and he passed away about five days before the blinds so so it would be a bit tricky soon it will be good sorry hello okay you're okay you're okay the lyrics are so relevant to what my family and I went through recently I guess it's why it sort of struck a chord with me angel in the sky where I was right there right next to you Alfie poured his heart and I really saw him open up and then zipped it up within a second put it to the side and went okay I'm singing and I was like oh no no no no one more time one more time don't shut me out when you start to sing keep your eyes open stay connected the whole way through my goal for Alfie is that he stays connected to every single word so that no one can look away from him [Applause] one day I will be where I was right there right next to you and it's hard the day just seems so dark the moon the stars and nothing without you you told me not to cry when you were gone but the feelings overwhelming it's much to surround can I lay the country and it was breathtaking as emotional as Alfie's performance was there's still some habits I want to iron out I have a bit of a goal for you on this next one yeah you've got to hold your notes a little longer yeah like ah kicking your vibrato if you want to know how to turn it off I really want you to practice just holding notes we want to hear your voice we want to hear that tone I just got to have more um more trust in myself I think absolutely this week I was given the song I Can't Make You Love Me by Bonnie Raitt at the end yeah you're right sorry you're throwing away love and heart like it means nothing yeah don't cut yourself short the main advice was to hold my notes it's something I really have to work on I think because when I was sort of teaching myself music I'd always sang a lot of r b music so I think it's natural for me to run off notes but for these ballads you really have to extend them because otherwise you're sort of cheating The Listener don't rush this at all let it soar don't try and Chop It Off stop it I know singing's new to me and you know I've got to hold these notes but I'm in the top 12 now so I guess it's no real excuses anymore oh my thing is Alfie is that somebody's got to win next week yeah why not be you I need to push Alfie to dream a bit bigger I want you to see that you can win this I want us to write Alfie The Voice winner 2016. knowing your dreams visualizing your dreams helps you stay focused so I'm visualizing it for you as well so he's got need a ride in At first I felt a bit apprehensive because I sometimes I didn't feel like I deserve these things I like seeing that back it's cool actually yeah that's what our goal is yeah I thought you know what I could win this I do deserve it why don't I deserve I love singing so this week to get to there he's got a fight healthy song is alive by SIA so if that's not a fighting song I don't know what is so for this song what do we want what passion passion we want to Captivate absolutely we want it to be powerful powerful I want to be present yes yeah that's gonna get me some chicken out on my notes because this song's all about the length of the notes in the chorus all you've got to do is just let go and go for it yeah to go out there and be fearless and and Feel That Fire that's inside of him [Applause] [Music] came along I came on my own I survived go go but I survived I'm still breathing I'm still breathing I'm still breathing I'm still breathing [Applause] me I have made every single mistake that you could ever possibly make I took him talking I took what you gave but you never noticed that I was in pain knew what I wanted it when I didn't got it did all the things that I said that I wouldn't told you that I would never be forgotten still breathing I'm still breathing I'm still breathing I'm still breathing all the love foreign [Music] [Applause] [Music] I still remember the day I had the blind audition and I I really thought no I was going to turn around and then they all did I've evolved so much as a singer and I want to keep evolving I'm excited to see where it takes me we're just one week away from the Grand Final yeah so I wanted to choose a song that really meant a lot to you I thought it should be time that you're saying All of Me John Legend I love that song it was the first song that I had sung in front of people at my sister's wedding this is one of the most emotional days of my life because my sister was obviously sick Alfy's sister had Hodgkin's lymphoma as I did when I was 18 years old the first time I felt the ultimate power of music I remember the feeling as soon as I got there and started singing my sister was smiling and dancing and I was like I made her really happy had a really bad time in her life take us there and let us all be there hmm that's what I've seen okay I just want to get one more set if you use if that's all right go back in one second [Music] and then she brings my sister out hello I said one more set of years it's cheeky [Music] yeah okay Alfie needs to go out there and use all those memories as his fight it helped a lot having my sister there because I have to remember how it was to sing that song at the wedding because when I think of that it makes me feel very emotional and I think that's the kind of connection I need to be able to deliver it in the way it needs to be delivered it's a total gift to be able to hear you sing and share this moment with us it is and we could be going to the Grand Final yeah you can do this we all believe in you you just have to believe it like I had to fight Delta had to fight now you gotta fight this is a journey that a lot of people have been on with me so yeah I wanted I want to do it for all of us [Music] [Applause] [Music] me up got my head's been no kidding I can't pin you down what's going on in that beautiful mind your Magical Mystery right and so dizzy don't know what he did [Music] like you're crazy [Applause] [Music] imperfections [Music] [Applause] give me [Music] risking it [Music] cause all of me of you you're my engine my beginning even when I lose [Music] [Applause] [Music] of you [Music] the next artist going through to the grand finale is [Music] [Applause] Alfie our curing [Applause] last week for the semi-finals I got to sing All of Me by John Legend and having my sister in the audience and my family it was just amazing you know I've been able to sing some of the most incredible songs [Music] Frozen a beautiful song called catapult by Jack severetti okay okay it's not a well-known song but that's exactly what I wanted if you win this then you go straight into making an album people aren't going to know the songs on your album and so I think we've got to treat it like it would be a song on your album that you're introducing to people yeah if Alfie is to win The Voice he needs to go into the studio and know how to paint the right picture for Alpha the artist she said tell me what would you do um well okay if I'm looking at it maybe I've got to pick some sections just give it a bit more confidence and control yeah I guess what do you think [Music] beginning I was a bit worried about the song anything you want there is no right or wrong but dilt has given me all the tools and all the lessons that I need to pull this off you got this this is your grand final performance it's gonna be big it's gonna be big yes when I perform this song I'll draw on all the lessons that I've learned with Delta so holding the notes [Music] connecting with the audience confidence you know a bit of eye contact which smiles here and there would you like that beautiful I believe in myself I believe in my abilities and it would be an amazing achievement to win the show was it wasn't that no jokes it's beautiful I'll show Australia that I really really want to win this I'll do you proud I promise you will I know you already have it thank you [Music] gotta find my way my sister's wedding was the first time that anyone had ever heard me sing so stepping out onto the voice stage was completely out of my comfort zone [Music] Alfie is so green to music yeah he's tapped into he's heart and soul [Music] the biggest change I've noticed is probably confidence I seem to believe in myself a lot more these days [Applause] Delta's been great she's been very Hands-On as a mentor she's really helped me a lot along the way so it'll be a bit tricky it's pretty good sorry [Music] [Applause] [Music] as an architect I guess I've spent my days building other people's dreams now I'm finally you know building my own dream with music and it's it's really exciting I love singing too much to stop now I feel like I'm evolving all the time and having Delta as a mentor I've learned a lot from her winning the show would be amazing but in terms of personal growth I feel like I've already won [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] sometimes it's a perfect Obsession I don't want no substitute [Music] [Music] I can't take anymore [Music] killing me the way that you move [Music] [Applause] I know you know I'm getting into you so deep and so I know I can't I can't hear what I need [Music] is true foreign [Music] you were the first audition that I knew within a second yeah and when I turned around I felt Waltz from you it's funny though because I look so angry when I sing well you did this really intensely and then you go [Music] hello Grand finals yeah I am so excited for this moment when I get to sing with you it's got to be sexy I gotta take my clothes off or something I'm making myself blush where are we going I'm gonna take us back to the battles Harmony a what a Harmony when it comes to the technicalities like I just I've got no idea have you ever harmonized with anyone no we have to work out how to harmonize together on this Alfie okay all right three yeah four singing with one of the world's best vocalists yes I'm nervous I have to harmonize with her I have to hold the notes and I have to have the same power at the same time oh the note I'm singing get off my nose instead of harmonizing I was just singing the same notes as her that's my note oh I'm gonna stay in this note one more time keep going do together don't worry Australia we will get there my least favorite thing is that you don't know how good you are and my most favorite thing is that you don't know how good you are okay I'll get it eventually you can be successful and still stay humble [Applause] [Music] it makes you feel good yeah I know you're out of my
