ULTIMATE Gearing Guide For PATCH 9.1 - Get Item Level 252+

hey folks this is kalani patch 9.1 introduces a wide variety of ways to gear up your characters and the item level of all rewards has been increased across the board with so many options available we decided to break it all down and show you exactly how to gear your character depending on what kind of content you want to do so here's our ultimate gearing guide for patch 9.1 and how you can get up to item level 252 and beyond let's start by talking about the gearing options that everyone has access to because you can get a pretty high item level in this patch even if you don't want to raid or spam mythic plus the most accessible form of gearing up in patch 9.1 is in corsia throughout your adventures in this new zone you will find corsia gear this gear starts at item level 200 and you can upgrade it all the way to item level 233 it has six ranks available so the higher the rank the higher the item level upgrading this gear will cost you catalogued research which you can earn by farming relic fragments killing rares and looting treasures basically anything to increase your reputation with the archivist's codex will be earning you catalogued research you can find corthia gear in treasures scattered around the zone it can drop from rare monsters and it's also a reward from some of the daily quests in corthia so the more you do in the course of your zone the higher chance you have to get costly a gear which you can then upgrade perhaps the most important thing to get done in courthia is going to be the weekly quest shaping fate this quest rewards you with a bunch of goodies you get 10 stygian embers which will be used to upgrade shots of domination we'll talk about those more later you get a bunch of rep with so many different factions including the death advance faction you're getting a large amount of relic fragments in the form of epic tokens to turn in which will help with your archivist's codex rep and catalog research farming you'll get a korthike crystal again very important for later on and you will always get a piece of corthia gear on top of all of that so if there's one thing every single player should get done in patch 9.1 it's going to be that corthia weekly quest the bi-weekly covenant assaults in the mall also reward you with corthia gear the vast majority of the time so i would recommend getting those done every time they are available covenant assaults last for three and a half days so there will always be two to do per week and if all else fails and the corsia gear just won't drop for you you can also buy corthian armament tokens from the death advance quartermaster for 1000 stygia and you need to be friendly with a death's advance so you have lots of options for acquiring this gear and as you farm rep with the archivist's codex and earn catalog research you can upgrade it all the way to item level 233 so just by playing through courtier and the outdoor world you can achieve a relatively high item level and there's no dungeons no raids and no group content involved you'll also be able to find a new world boss in courthia starting with the release of season 2 on july 6. this world boss can drop various pieces of gear at item level 233 as well which is actually the highest item level available from the normal raid and it's on par with that fully upgraded corsia gear so it's definitely worth going after there's even a few trinkets from this world boss that could end up being very powerful another special piece of loot from this world boss is the shard of rev one of the bloodshots of domination this is the only shard of domination that you can obtain outside of the raid from what we know so far and it just and so happens to be a great shot to collect especially for healers so be sure to kill the world boss every week for a chance at this shiny loot there's also a new recipe for some higher level crafter gear or well a crafter's mark to increase the item level anyway the crafters mark 3 can be purchased from the death advance quartermaster for 2000 stigia and you need to reach honoured with the death's advance so it might take a little bit more rep farming before these crafters marks become available but when they do there's another option for very easy and quick item level 200 pieces of gear in almost every slot that's going to be great for catching your altered with gear especially if you don't want to buy those corthian armament tokens essentially not the only new crafters mark though the crafter's mark of the chained aisle can be purchased from the archivist's codex vendor for 2 500 catalog research after you've reached tier 4 with the faction this crafter's mark allows you to craft a piece of 230 item level gear but you can only equip one piece of crafted gear made this way so it's definitely got a heavy restriction on it but one piece of 230 gear is actually a huge boost for anyone who wants to gear up quickly it's almost a fully upgraded costlier piece of gear and because it's crafted gear you can put your perfect stats on it using missives this means you can use this one piece of 230 gear to fill in any gaps left over from your gearing up adventures maybe a perfect stat ring or a necklace or whatever you've been struggling to find so this item is going to be great for filling in those gearing gaps speaking of reputation rewards there's a couple of pieces of gear you can get from the two new factions in crothia as well the death advance quartermaster will offer you a piece of 220 gear that costs 2 000 stygia and you will need to reach honored with the faction to purchase it 220 item level for an honored reputation is pretty good overall but the main reason why this item is interesting is the domination socket usually these sockets can only be found on raid gear so having access to one of them just from a reputation vendor here is very powerful you can even slot in that one shot from the world boss if you don't raid so you can still take advantage of that slot no matter what and then the archivists codex quartermaster will offer you a piece of 239 item level gear when you get to tier 6 with a faction it's going to cost 4 000 catalog research so it's definitely not cheap but at item level 239 that's the equivalent of a heroic raiding piece of gear so that's going to be a big boost to your item level but this piece of gear also has a domination socket it seems to fill the same gear slot as the das advanced rep gear so this one really is just an item level boost for that but it's going to be very powerful for anyone who doesn't actively raid or pursue other group content to get the full potential out of these gear rewards you're going to need a shard of domination to slot into those sockets as we said earlier you can get one shard from the world boss so be sure to kill him every week but the main source of shards is going to be the raid i would recommend you try to kill a few bosses in the raid whenever you can just to fish for shots of domination if that means waiting until looking for aid comes out and hopping in there to try and get some shards then so be it these shards would be very powerful so getting one of the good ones in that socket will be great for your character overall moving on patch 9.1 also increases the maximum item level and rank available for our legendary gear so working towards the rank 5 and rank 6 upgrades is also something everyone can do to increase their overall item level rank 5 legendaries will be item level 249 and rank 6 will be 262 that is a massive bump in item level over typical gear rewards so upgrading your legendaries will be very important to upgrade a legendary to rank 5 and 6 you need soul cinders soul cinders come from torgast from the new layers 9 through 12. the maximum reward from layer 12 is 180 soul cinders and there are still two wings available so that's 360 soul cinders per week from tour gast if you have all 12 layers unlocked and you clear layer 12 in both wings soul cinders also come from the bi-weekly covenant assaults in the more you get 50 soul cinders per assault you complete and because there are two assaults per week that means you can get another 100 soul cinders each week another event in the mall that you'll probably be doing anyway is the tormentors of tour guest event this also awards 50 soul cinders a week which brings our grand total of available soul cinders up to 510 per week when all of the content is unlocked to upgrade to rank 5 you'll need 1 100 soul cinders and to upgrade to rank 6 you need 1 650 soul centers total so to go from rank 5 to 6 would be an extra 550 soul cinders to create rank 5 and rank 6 legendaries you also need a vestige of origins to craft a base item at rank five or six to craft the vestige of origins you need to get honored with the death's advance by the pattern which costs digia and then to craft it you're going to need 40 corsite crystals you've probably gotten some of these already you can get them from rares and treasures and corthia as well as daily quests the covenant assault and the weekly quest in corthia as well if you want to skip the crafting you can just buy your rank 5 or rank 6 base items from the auction house or from other players when they've got all the materials ready a quick note on legendary crafting and upgrading i would double check which legendary effect is your current best and which slot is recommended for it a lot of legendaries had new slots added and some new effects were introduced in 9.1 it would be a shame to spend your soul centers on a legendary you end up recrafting later any legendary that is crafted or upgraded in patch 9.1 also gets a socket for free so don't worry about losing a socket when swapping things around soul ash is also going to be very easy to get with all the increases to the tour gas rewards so you should have plenty of soul ash to recraft legendaries too this next one isn't necessarily going to increase your item level but it will increase your character's power level with higher item level rewards coming from every type of content that also means higher item level conduit the higher your item level of conduit the more effective and more powerful it's going to be so you want to try and get as many conduits as you can but if you can't get higher item level conduits from the content you're clearing you do have another option you can purchase deathbound shards from the archivist codex vendor after you reach ts6 they cost 3 000 catalog research and they will upgrade a random conduit up to item level 252 that's the highest item level of conduit available so even if you don't raid or do dungeons you can still get incredibly powerful conduits just from this rep bender and if you really want to squeeze every ounce of power out of your gear you're going to need some sockets unsurprisingly sockets also come from the archivist's codex vendor you can buy the alloy warping fastener for 5000 catalog research at tier 6 and this item will put a socket on any valid item of choice from season 2 of shadowlands more sockets means more gems which means more power overall for your character you can actually get the ally warping faster from another source bonesmith's humor can be found in corthia after you get to renowned 44 and he will sell the very same item but for 1 000 soul cinders instead so if you don't need those extra soul centers to upgrade your legendaries well you can use them on sockets you do need to reach exalted with the death's advance to buy this item from hima but at least you have options moving on let's talk about gearing up through dungeons the new big addition in this patch is tatavesh the veiled market this mega dungeon has 8 bosses total so there's plenty of chances to get some loot and the item level starts relatively high when compared to other forms of content every boss will drop item level 226 gear and if you enable hard mode in tazovesh every boss will drop 233 gear instead so there's a maximum item level of 233 available from this mega dungeon which is already quite high for the patch as a whole when you consider this dungeon is only available on mythic difficulty to start with sadly you won't be able to upgrade any of these gear pieces through the valor system but with some of the items being unique and special they could be significantly more powerful than other item level 233 pieces of gear so keep an eye out for some of the special items from tazhavesh that might be worth going after if you really want to push your item level from running dungeons you'll be looking at the mythic plus system once again the lowest item level you can get from mythic dungeons is item level 210 which comes from mythic zero dungeons and mythic plus two so we have much higher item levels at the lower end when compared to season one the item level rewards only increase from there i'll pop a chart up on screen for you so you can see what different item levels you can get from mythic plus keys this season is going to be a bit different from the last one the in dungeon item level rewards cap out from mythic 14 keys which will drop item level 236 gear that's the highest you can get from the dungeons themselves then of course we also have the weekly vault the number of runs you need to fill out your weekly vault loot hasn't changed you need one dungeon for the first piece four dungeons for the second piece and 10 dungeons for the third piece personally i would recommend you always get at least one dungeon done on any character you want to gear up because the weekly vault rewards are huge for the amount of effort you have to put in one dungeon can be super quick and easy it doesn't have to be a high key level and you always end up with a reward that is way higher than the content you completed for season 2 vault rewards scale from item level 226 which is the reward for completing a plus 2 key during the week all the way up to item level 252 which is the reward for completing a plus 15 during the week i'll have another table on screen so you can see all the various rewards as you progress through key levels that's another change for season two to get the highest weekly vault reward you will need to complete a plus 15 key so for season one you can run a plus 14 key and get the highest reward but this time you're going to have to go all the way up to plus 15. mythic plus dungeons are also going to be very different in this patch for another reason besides the item level bump the game now has a built-in mythic plus rating which means two things first you don't have to rely on an external third-party website or add-on to track what dungeons you've done or what other players have done and secondly you don't really have a choice as to whether or not you see it or other players see what everyone has done so mythic plus score is going to be very important for progressing and gearing up through mythic plus dungeons because that's going to be the gold standard for inviting players to groups going forward your overall score is made up from the highest keys that you've done and you get a bonus for completing a dungeon on both tyrannical and fortified weeks you will also need mythic plus score or rating to unlock upgrades via the valor system you can upgrade to rank 6 or item level 226 without any restrictions or requirements but to upgrade to rank 7 you'll need at least 600 mythic plus score to upgrade to rank 8 and 9 you need 1 000 mythic plus score rank 10 will require 1400 score rank 11 requires 1700 score and then rank 12 will require 2 000 mythic plus score so to get the highest item level which is currently 246 at rank 12 you'll need to run enough dungeons to get 2 000 mythic plus score running every dungeon on a plus 15 key on fortified and tyrannical will get you about 2 000 score so plus 15 keys should get you the highest rewards available score wise to get valor points all you have to do is run mythic plus dungeons every key you run will earn you 135 valour points and you also get a bit of bonus valor if someone in your run increased their score by completing that dungeon so pushing your score and helping others push their score will actually earn you some more valor points then of course the callings available in your covenant sanctum will reward valor points too 35 for a rare calling and 50 for an epic calling so if you want to farm valor points but don't want to run dungeons all day callings are still going to be somewhat valuable with all of these gearing options combined tatives the mythic plus loot drops the valor upgrade system and the weekly vault you can get up to item level 252 just from running dungeons and then of course patch 9.1 also introduces a new raid the sanctum of domination with some of the highest item level rewards available in the entire game now as with castle nathria the last two bosses of the sanctum of domination raid will drop gear that is seven item levels higher than the other bosses so normal difficulty will drop item level 226 gear with the last two bosses dropping item level 233 gear that right there is mythic castle nathria loot so anyone dipping their toes into normal raiding will already catch up to mythic raiders from the previous tier it's also significantly higher than most other rewards available so raiders will once again earn amazing gear very quickly heroic difficulty will drop iter level 239 gear with the last two bosses dropping item level 246 gear both normal and heroic sanctum of domination will open up with the start of season 2. mythic sanctum of domination will open up one week later and will offer item level 252 gear from the vast majority of the raid with the last two bosses dropping item level 259 gear which is the highest item level you can currently obtain in the game if you're interested in looking for raid difficulty that opens up alongside the mythic raid and will drop item level 213 gear with the last two bosses dropping item level 220 gear killing bosses will also fill up your raid weekly vault row which is just another chance at huge gear upgrades the more bosses you kill and the higher difficulty you clear the better rewards the weekly vault will have for you something very special to watch out for while raiding are the shards of domination and domination gear shards of domination are unique gems that can only be placed in domination sockets there are three types of shards frost unholy and blood and there are three different shards of each type so we have access to nine shards total the shards can drop randomly from raid bosses so the more bosses you kill the higher chance you have of obtaining one of these shards and each shard has a passive effect and if you equip three shots of the same type you can unlock a very powerful set bonus raiding is going to be very special for the domination gear as well there are some other sources of gear that have a domination socket but raiding is the only place you'll be able to get five different pieces to be able to equip a total of five shards of domination it's also some of the highest item level domination gear available which makes it even more valuable as a quick note if you ever want to swap your shards of domination around or take them out of your gear for whatever reason you can purchase the soul fire chisel from bone smith humor in corthia that chisel will cost you 2 500 stygia but you can use it as many times as you want so this will be a must-have item for anyone playing with shards of domination every boss will also drop some stygian embers for you to collect this is the currency you will need to upgrade your shards of domination to new heights and new power levels so the more you raid and the more bosses you kill the more stygian embers you can collect and the faster you can power up those shards remember that the corsia weekly quest also rewards stygian embers so even if you don't raid you can still upgrade them slowly and for the raiders out there who want to upgrade their shots as quickly as possible that weekly quest is going to be incredibly important too so not only do raiders get higher item levels this time around up to item level 259 if you raid mythic but you also get access to more shots of domination which will provide a significant boost to your character's power level and then last but not least pvp will also prove to be a very effective gearing up pathway for anyone who loves to smash some skulls pvp only really has one major change related to gearing in patch 9.1 the item level of pvp gear will increase by 13 when you're engaged in pvp combat so even though these item levels may sound kind of low when you first look at them remember that there will be 13 item levels higher in actual pvp content so pvp gear is going to be stronger in pvp when compared to pve in season 2 unrated pvp gear that you can buy with honor from one of the pvp vendors in orobo starts at item level 177. you can upgrade this unrated pvp gear by taking it to an upgrade vendor and spending even more honor points there are seven ranks in total once again i'll give you a table on screen and the highest item level you can upgrade this stuff to is 216. you will need some higher levels of renown to upgrade all the way to rank 7 rank 4 and 5 require 43 renown while ranks 6 and 7 require 59 renown when season 2 opens up you can jump back into rated pvp as well rated pvp gear can be purchased with a conquest currency from one of the pvp vendors in orobose this gear starts at item level 220 and can be upgraded up to item level 246. upgrading conquest gear will cost you honor points but you also need to obtain a rating in one of the various forms of ranked pvp the rating brackets are 1400 1600 1800 and 2100 and they each come with an increase in item level so pvp gearing hasn't really changed that much in 9.1 you just have higher item level rewards to chase after and that should cover pretty much every gearing path available in the game right now for patch 9.1 hopefully there's something in here that
