TURNING TABLET INTO BOOK (Zach King Style) - After Effects VFX Tutorial

[Music] hey guys in this tutorial i'm gonna show you how to create this cool tablet into book magic trick using adobe after effects let's get started to recreate this effect we need just one shot of holding a book in hand also pretend you are holding a tablet because we are gonna replace the book with a tablet afterwards so let's fire up after effects first place your shot on the timeline then go to animation and select track in mocha ie this will open up mocha where we gonna track the movement of the book grab the x-spline tool and draw a shape around the book then click this button to show the planar surface place these four points in the corners of the book i am choosing the text because there is a good contrast between pixels which will make the track easier now also check this box to track perspective and we can start tracking you might also need to adjust the tracking manually once everything is done export the tracking data make sure to choose after effects corner pin with motion blur and click copy to clipboard in after effects create a new solid layer and place the tracking data here [Music] next search for corner pin effect and adjust it so that the solid layer covers the book now right-click the solid and choose pre-compose make sure to leave all attributes in the home then open up the pre-comp and bring in the tablet frame scale this up so that it fills the entire frame [Music] again do some corner pin adjustments and we can place the tablet video into the frame to get the hands in front of the tablet duplicate the main video and select draw to brush tool mask out the hands and click freeze [Music] then adjust the settings [Music] and it's already looking good now let's make the transition first open up the tablet comp and animate opacity of the tablet video from hundred to zero percent this way we'll keep just the frame of the tablet now duplicate the main video and move it to the top then grab the pen tool and draw a mask around the edge of the book next hit m on the keyboard and enable animation for the mask path go a few frames ahead and gradually expand the mask and also don't forget to feather out the mask we can also animate the position to match the edge of the book with the tablet and then animate the opacity of this layer from 0 to 100 finally animate the mask until the tablet disappears completely and that's it if you like this tutorial please give it a thumbs up and consider subscribing i'll see you in the next one [Music] you
