- [Nicole] Think our reactors can resist the tastiest food from these television shows? - No. - Yeah. Maybe. - What are we doing today? - Trying not eat food from streaming shows. - Trying not to eat food from some of the hottest streaming shows from the last year. We are checking out some of the best new streaming shows on Netflix, Hulu, Apple TV, Peacock, FX, Paramount Plus. I did leave out Disney because we do a lot of Disney on the show. - Sure. - Wow. That's a lot of streaming platforms. - It is. - Yeah. - Makes sense. - Disney can suck it! - Oh. - Oh, I love this book and show- - It was based off a book? - Yeah. - [Nicole] What's it about? - Oh, is she? - She's like the first woman chemist kind of thing. - That's really cool. - Fun fact. Also, the book has point of views from her dog. - [Nicole] "Lessons in Chemistry" follows Brie Larson, who stars in this Apple TV original, where she plays a determined scientist who battles 1960s sexism and societal norms to shake up the chemistry of her own life and empower women with tasty knowledge through culinary education. - Ooh, yeah. - What is she cooking? What's she cooking? - She's so intelligent. - She's a chemist who also cooks. - It's insane. - Is it lasagna? What is that? Wow. - It's lasagna. - Lasagna. - I remember these two. - I've never had that. - He's never had season in his life. (Nicole laughs) - It's perfect. - It's not perfect, but it has the potential to be. This is my 78th attempt. - 78th attempt. - That was cool. - The layers are truly layering right now. - The streets are about to find out a fun fact about me. - [Nicole] Don't say you don't like lasagna. - I don't like lasagna. (laughs) - What's wrong with you? - The only lasagna I like is my mom's. Shout out to you, mom. - Aw. - I'mma send this directly to her. She puts like an extra jar of sauce, so it's like really soupy and doesn't like stack. - Ooh. - Okay, well, I will say this looks incredible. - Lasagna and spaghetti were two of those meals. I hate 'em both. - Wow. - Whoa! - Wait, that's not normal lasagna. Hold up. - No, it is not. - Dude, that smells good, what is it? - [Nicole] Making lasagna isn't just a delicious dish for Elizabeth Zott, it's a scientific challenge and she's done her research to create the perfect recipe because cooking is chemistry. - I just, I- - Are you eating it again? - I know I've already had lasagna, but I just... - You just like lasagna? - Lasagna is my favorite. - It's your jam. Hmm. We're only serving lasagna at our wedding, apparently. - Well, the more I look at this, the more I want some. - So this is actually the recipe that "Lessons in Chemistry" posted of Elizabeth Zott's recipe and it is quite unlike anything you've had before. - [Both] Oh. - [Nicole] And we did the actual recipe. - It's pretty. - From the show. - I always just kind of go for it, man. - Wow. - No, I can't. Oye. - I feel like, hold on a minute. What do you mean you can't, you put it in your mouth? - No, no, no. I can't do the whole thing. - Oh, okay. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. That was a big boy, that was a big boy. - Wait, it looks really good. (buzzer buzzes) Oh. - Is it really good? - Oh. - Let's go. (buzzer buzzes) - Pretty good? - Wow. - Give me details. - It's good. I've never had lasagna taste like this though. - I was like nah, but it looks pretty good. - It's weird. It's like sweet and then it's salty, and then savory. Kind of tastes like a pizza in the beginning, but then it switches over to like stew and then it tastes like lasagna. - You can learn something from me. Yeah, I'm definitely taking this home. Wow, you're crazy, dude. I can't believe you're passing. - I'm doing it. I wanna win the feast. I'm in this to win it. - [Nicole] No, Brittany? - I'm gonna hold out. I'm gonna stay strong. - No. - "The Buccaneers," a lot of Apple TV shows. - Oh. - Ooh, I love the show. My friend Josie's in this show. She is the one just under Alisha Boe. - I have not seen this. - I heard good things about it. - [Nicole] The scandalous world of the Buccaneers follows Gilded Age heiresses navigating the high society. - I have heard of this. - [Nicole] Of the British Ton where they plot marriages of power and passion and unveil the dark depths beneath the glittering facades. - Aha. - Whoa. - Yes. - That's why it says "Lock up your lords." - Yes. - Lock up your lords. - So in the scene you guys are about to watch, the girls have brought over one of their favorite American treats to the Brits. - Ooh. - Oh, I wonder what they're bringing over. - Ooh. - Is this done? - Oh, they're baking something. - I don't remember my mother's trick. - Cheese? (Jaime laughs) - I don't know. - Ah, and then she's also the love of my life. - Oh! - Whoa, oh! - That's, oh. - That's what they were gonna say, I think. If you turn it upside down and it can't come out the bowl, right? - The outfits, the costuming is so cool in this one. - What a cut, what a deep cut. - That's Guy. - Filling the bowl is just... - These people didn't- - I forgot about this scene. - I agree. That is very true. - Whipped cream? Sour cream? - Wow, this looks like glue. And I'd mean that in the most respectful way to whoever made it. - Is it yogurt? - Is it mozzarella? What is this? - Marshmallow? - Marshmallow! - At the beginning of this year, I was challenged to rapidly grow and expand our team here at "React." We increased how many videos we're creating on both of our two main channels, "React" and "People versus Food." Plus, we launched three new channels, "PvF Chef," "Bullseye," and "Junebeam," our new fashion and beauty channel under Electric Monster. And we launched a podcast "Reactcast." While growing is exciting, being a manager, a team leader and a champion is extremely hard and comes with a lot of added stress. Interviewing, training, and growing a team the right way, both with empathy and speed comes with its own set of unique challenges and doing all of this while continuing to produce content has been a lot. Having someone to talk to through various challenges or just making sure I'm doing the best that I can do, and frankly, reminding me that as long as I'm doing my best, that's enough. And not to beat myself up over things I can't control. It's not only nice, it's actually necessary. I like to turn to a professional to do this. I don't wanna burden my friends and family, and I want some truly unbiased advice from someone who's experienced in giving it. One of the easiest ways to connect with a professional is using BetterHelp, today's sponsor. (buzzer buzzes) - I already lost. - Oh, that smells really good. - Oh, is it mallow? - [Nicole] Jinny and Lizzy from "The Buccaneers" have brought... Oh. (buzzer buzzes) - It's marshmallow. (laughs) - [Nicole] Brought their homemade marshmallow recipe to the UK and even Guy can't resist the sweet delight. - You know what would be fun is to like get a little torch lighter and just.. (fire singes) - You're a crazy, man. That sounds amazing. - I'm a little nuts. (man laughs) - Whoa. - I love s'mores. (buzzer buzzes) - Mm. - That's good. - Look at this. - You want that, don't you, Alex? - Oh, I do. Oh, let's be clear. I want to take a bite of this, but I also want to win. - I really wanna just, mm. (couple laughing) - You can, it will be quite messy. - I'm not doing it, I'm just playing with it. Wow. - Okay, I'm going for this. (buzzer buzzes) Whoa! - Yeah, that looks good. - That's crazy. - Oh my God. It's like a reward. (laughs) - This is her prize. - This is prize, yeah. - This is good marshmallow. - [Nicole] I did not think marshmallow was what was gonna get you. - I love s'mores. Like it's a passion of mine. - "Twisted Metal." Wow, what a poll. - Whoa. - "Twisted Metal," I haven't seen it. I haven't seen it. I'm pretty sure it used to be a, was it a game? - It was. - Yeah, it was a game. - [Nicole] You haven't heard of this? - Mm-mm. I don't have Peacock though. - You might need to get Peacock. Based on the popular 90s video game, "Twisted Metal" on Peacock is a post-apocalyptic action comedy starring Anthony Mackie, Stephanie Beatriz, Will Arnett and Thomas Haden Church. - I've heard it's fantastic. - [Nicole] It's from the same creators of "Deadpool" and "Zombieland." - So it is fantastic. - It's gonna be sick. - It is wild. - It's fantastic. - Hey. - I need to see it. - It's a fun show. And Anthony Mackie is very fun to watch in it. (Ashley gasps) (Benison growls) - Tacos. - Cloches. - We'll be enjoying white tiger prepared three ways. - [Both] White tiger? - There's an whole pack of those milky white (bleep) breeding up on the fourth floor. - Oh my God, you're not keeping that in. There's no way. (indistinct). - We made it pretty far on our own. - That's the home girl from "Brooklyn 9-9." She's in that. - [Nicole] Bon apple tit. - Whoa. - Dude, what is this on this steak? It's like a, some kind of reduction, bro. (sniffs) (Alex laughs) - Nicole, why do you give me stuff like this all the time? You know the punishments that you get if you eat, oh my God, this is raw. What is this? Oh, I gotta stay angry like him. Yeah, why do you all the time? (buzzer buzzes) Mm. - Mm? (laughs) hmm. - [Nicole] Sweet Tooth's prepared white tiger three ways. (buzzer buzzes) - Oh. Oh, that's good. - [Nicole] A perfectly seared steak, asada tacos and a savory tartare bite that's paired with a Vegas worthy hurricane cocktail. Now eat up or you'll miss the show. - I will resist. - Oh. - This is one of those, what happened last night texts. It's so good that you- - It's pretty good? - It doesn't taste like there's alcohol in it. - Doesn't taste like alcohol's in it? - It's dangerous. - One of them dangerous drinks right there. - Have you ever had white tiger before? - No. - What are you talking about? This is white tiger meat, right now? This is white tiger? This is a- - Meow. - Smells incredible. - It's cutting. - It's beef. - I'm looking at it and it's beef. 1% of me is really afraid that it's tiger. (buzzer buzzes) It doesn't look the same texture as beef. - It's got like a- - What is it, Nicole? - It's got like a feline. (Jaime slurps) - You're not gonna join me? - Do I have to take another bite of punishment? - [Nicole] Yeah, that's how this works. (Brittany groans) - That doesn't taste like beef. - Shut your (beep) mouth. - Crazy. - What is it? Somebody tell me what it is! I'm gonna go insane! - White tiger meat. - Shut the (beep) up. Are you kidding me? - I went to the white tiger enclosures in Vegas and I took some meat. - Are you gonna watch "Twisted Metal?" - I actually might. - Yeah. - It's on Peacock you said? - Yeah. - Yeah, I might be into that one. - You should try it. - I want to win! - Take a little bite. - No! - Take a little bite. - I won't do it! - Take a little bite. Teeny, tiny bite. - No! - [Nicole] But you've never had, have you ever had white tiger? - I've never had white tiger. But you know, I don't think I'm into eating felines right now. - [Nicole] Are we ready to move to the next round? - Yes. - Cheers. - Cheers. - Not in my face. (buzzer buzzes) - What is in here? Somebody tell me what's in here. - I'm gonna take this home too. This is crazy. - Right, it's good. - It's really good. (fire singes) - Mr. Davis. - "Mrs. Davis." - It's "Mrs. Davis." I goofed, I'm so sorry. - Action nun. - That's sounds pretty cool. I've never even heard of this. - So "Mrs. Davis" is the craziest show that nobody has watched on Peacock. - Is that the actress who played in "The Hunt?" - [Nicole] Yes. - Oh yeah, I gotta watch this now. She is phenomenal. - [Nicole] It was created by Damon Lindelof. - Oh. - [Nicole] Of "Lost Watchmen" and "The Leftovers" fame. - Yeah. - Oh. - [Nicole] And Tara Hernandez, who is one of the creators of the "Big Bang Theory." - No, really? - Wow. - What a mix. - I have to watch this now. - [Nicole] Imagine those two worlds coming together in an epic battle that follows a nun who is battling AI. - What? - So about the be our near future. - [Nicole] It is, there are chicken wings. There is a quest for the holy grail. There is Excalibur. - Oh. - Wow. - I'm sold, I'm gonna go check this out tonight. - Yeah, I'll also do the same. - This clip I'm gonna show you is Betty Gilpin, as Simone meeting Jesus for the first time. You know, Jesus likes to feed. - What? - Headphones on. - Bro, I hope if I ever meet Jesus dude, he feeds me too. - Jesus? - And it didn't matter that up until that very second, I didn't believe. - Dude, this actress is so good. - Are they eating falafel? - Is this Jesus? - This is Jesus? (man laughs) - Damn. - You can tell he's got sort of a Jesusy vibe. - Is she crying? Oh, she's crying. Oh. - Is this Jesus or is just this a nice man feeding her food? - No, it's Jesus. - Is it really? - I love that she says she didn't believe in him. - Love at first sight. Yeah, I was about to say. Ooh. Thank you. Ooh. - That's (gasps). Okay. (Benison laughs) - I mean, it looks good. - Here. - It's falafel. Oh, thank you. (buzzer buzzes) - I'm gonna be honest. - [Nicole] Jesus will feed all those who are hungry and his favorite dish to make for Simone is this falafel made with a secret ingredient. - [Both] What's the secret ingredient? - Well, you might think it's love. It's also lemon. - Oh. - Okay. - I don't know. - You hate falafel? - Yeah, I hate falafel. - I'm not doing it. I don't want the feast, Nicole. I want to win. - Ooh. - You should try it. - No. (laughs) I've come so far. - No, I gotta try this. (buzzer buzzes) - How's that? - Really good. - Wow. - [Nicole] So are you guys gonna watch "Mrs. Davis?" - I might. - Yeah. - I'm like, I feel like I got shows down. "Twisted Metal," "Mrs. Davis," "Lessons in Chemistry." - I mean, it looks incredible. This looks really good. That falafel looks super fresh. Did they make the hummus here too? - Mm-hm. - Oh, get out of town. Fresh hummus, ugh. - The "Reservation Dogs." I haven't seen this either. - I have not seen this. - Have you heard of it? - I have heard of it. - No. - I have not seen this, but I've heard it's really good. - [Nicole] Do you know this show, Benny? - It sounds familiar. Is this like a remake or something before? No, right? - I think you're thinking of "Reservoir Dogs." - (beep), I am thinking of "Reservoir Dogs." The movie. - Yes. - [Nicole] Yes, no. Taiki Waititi's "Reservation Dogs" follows the lives of four Indigenous teenagers in rural Oklahoma as they spend their days hanging and committing small crimes to earn enough money to get off the reservation. - We love small crime. - [Nicole] It was the first American series to feature an all Indigenous writer and director set, plus an almost entirely Indigenous cast and crew. - I mean, that's just really impressive. - Yeah. - That's an impressive feat. - Offer it to me. - What? - Like an offering, come on. - She's... - Oh. - Yeah, she's talking to someone who's not there. - Oh. - She's gone. - What's she eating? - I offer this food to you in a good way or whatever. - Or whatever. - It's fish. Fish and chips. - No, I wonder. - Mm. - Tastes better when it's offered. - You can tell they put a lot of effort into this though 'cause even like her earrings and stuff is like, truly Indigenous. - Catfish is life, you know. - That does look really good, I'm not gonna lie. I'm not even a seafood person. - Oh, it smells so good. - I'm not even a seafood person like that. - Amaze. - This is tough. - This seasoning is real good. - Oh, come on Nicole. - I'm taking this home too. Ah, yeah. This looks so good. - Oh wait, I was craving fish and chips the other day. How did you guys know? - I get it. - Oh yeah. Go ahead. (buzzer buzzes) That crunch is crazy. - [Nicole] There's nothing better than a fresh platter of fried catfish from Robin Cleo's Market, one of the res dog's favorite eateries. (table tapping) - Yeah. (laughs) That was crisp, that's very crispy. (buzzer buzzes) Mm, ooh. - You like it? - That's really good. Ooh, sauce. Wait a second. - It's a homemade tartar sauce by Chef Michael. - Oh, come on. - Homemade? - I always just feel like a king when I'm out here eating from "People versus Food." You're gonna have five punishments. (laughs) - [Nicole] Have you had catfish before? - Yeah and I love fish and chips. - You are like selling it so hard that I'm like, it makes me wanna try it. But I already know. - You don't even taste the fish. It's so good. - This looks incredible, I'm not gonna lie. - [Nicole] That is it, that is our challenge. - All right. - Congratulations Alex and Brandel. You guys were able to avoid these dishes and for that well, I said we have quite the feast. - "The Brothers Sun." - Oh my God! - I haven't seen it yet. I haven't seen this yet either. - It's good. - It just came out recently. I've only seen like a couple episodes. - I have not seen this. - I knew, I am so annoyed. No, "Brothers Sun." You're giving Asian food. I don't like you. - Another show that's on my freaking Netflix list and I just like, haven't gotten into it yet. - That guy, I believe name is Sam in real life. - [Nicole] Yeah. - And we worked on the same web series together. - [Nicole] Starring the queen of all queens, Michelle Yeoh, this Netflix series is about two estranged brothers navigating Taipei's gangster world while also trying to perfect the perfect churro recipe. - If you're about to give me churros, I'm gonna go insane. - Here's the sad part, it was canceled. - "The Brothers Sun" was canceled? - After one season. - Why? - But it was- - Netflix. - Wasn't it popular? - You know Netflix is known for canceling all good shows. - Streaming platform is a non-working model and it needs to be reworked because if top performing shows can't be supported, then there's a bigger problem here. - We're gonna celebrate "The Brothers Sun" and give it the accolades it deserves. - Altogether. - With this beautiful clip. - Oh. - Yes. Yes! - Oh, what? - No, not the, no. With the wrap, no. - Oh, (indistinct) that's a lot. That's a lot of food. - She did say a feast. - She did. - Oh yeah. - Some dim sum. - Oh. - Hey, Sam. - Huh! Not the churros. - Oh my God, it's beautiful. - You spoil me. - Oh my God. - Your guys, oh, it's kanji? - Uh-huh. - Oh, I love kanji. - Which brother do you think I am? - Oh, is that the duck? - Yeah, peking duck and dim sum. - [Woman] Oh, you're the gangster brother. - No. Well. - It's the tatties, bro. - And the churros in the box. - Can our punishment be that we can eat this? - Hell yeah, man. - Damn. - Smells really good. - I don't even know what to go at first, for real. - Wow, this is a feast. - [Nicole] For our winners, which are neither of you, we're feasting with the "Brothers Sun" and we've got a feast featuring delicately made dim sum, savory and comforting jook, seafood hot pot, crispy and sweet peking duck wraps and of course Charleston's churros with a special ingredient. - (sighs) Lemon? - [Nicole] Shrimp. (somber music) - This is like comfort food. - Yeah, mm-hm. It's good, it's great. - Oh man. - [Nicole] Was this worth it? - Yeah. - Can I have this dim sum? - It smells really good, too. - Goodbye. - Can I dip it in the chili sauce? - Yeah. - Mm-hm. That's really good. That's really good. - It's very uh... (Alex coughs) - [Nicole] Okay, it's too spicy? Sorry. - No, you're good. - Too spicy or go down the wrong hole? What happened? - Too spicy. - Too spicy. - And it went down the wrong hole. - [Nicole] Oh no. - Double whammy, bro. - Woo! Okay, that's good. Oh my god, I'm crying. - [Nicole] And then finally the churros, which actually have a special ingredient on them as well. (dramatic music) - Ooh. I love churros so much. - Well, unfortunately, Ashley and Benison, you were both tempted and for that, I curse you. - "The Curse." - Oh, obviously it's "The Curse." - Oh, I wanna see this. I totally forgot. - I don't know why I didn't think of this when you kept saying curse you. - Yeah. - Right. - [Nicole] Do you wanna share "The Curse? - [Woman] No. - Is Nathan Fielder the guy who does that show where he does random? Oh, Nathan Fielder is so good. - Love Nathan Fielder. I think he is so funny. - [Nicole] Nathan Fielder, Benny Safdie and Emma Stone star in this Showtime series about how an alleged curse disturbs the relationship of a newly married couple as they try to conceive. - All right, curse me. I like it. - You can't do that or I'll curse you. - You'll what? - You can't do that or I'll curse you. I'm gonna teach my kid that. - Oh. Oh. - I curse you. - (laughs) Okay. - Oh, he's cursed. - They forgot the chicken in the chicken penne. (Alex laughs) - You're gonna feed me chicken? - Oh no. - What? - You got me, so you win. - Wait, so what happened? There's loose chicken on the sink in the bathroom. - Ooh. - He took the chicken out? Are you giving chicken from the toilet? - What's the- - The curse, that's right. - [Nicole] Both of you close your eyes. - Whatever you, without the chicken. - Open your eyes. And for our punishment, you've been cursed. - Here's your chicken penne pasta but where's the chicken? - Where is it? It's on the floor? Where is it? - Oh, ew. - [Both] What is this? - What is this? - Oh. - You've been cursed with raw chicken. It's not actually raw chicken because that's not safe. But we've made a gelatinized meat jello and trust me, it's most certainly a curse. - I sound like Donald Duck. - I have a whole box of them. Is it bad? - I don't know what that is, bro. - [Nicole] Was that marshmallow worth it? - No. - [Man] I can't watch. - Ah, ah. It's just a texture thing. - This will be your last bite. - Thank you. Cheers. (upbeat music) - I don't like that at all. I don't like that. Oh, the texture of that and this. - I don't taste this anymore. This is just jello. - You're like, I'm too strong for this. - [Nicole] Well, that does it for today, any final thoughts? - I hate Dorian, I won't do it anymore. - I had a great time. - Are you gonna go watch any new shows? - That I am, actually. Before I leave, I'm gonna need to write those down. - I'll watch the nun show for sure. - How do you guys, what do you guys do? Like, how do you think of these things? - Check out PvF Chef. - Oh (beep)! - Amber, I still don't fully understand the curse. - Nicole, I curse you. - What? (Nicole crying) - Thank you for watching this episode of "People versus Food."
