right now on the afternoon Edition Donald Trump defiant the former president and now convicted felon speaks out a day after he was found guilty in his so-called hush money trial if they can do this to me they can do this to anyone these are bad people these are in many cases I believe sick people good afternoon I'm Elizabeth Cook in for Ryan today less than 24 hours after being found guilty on all 34 counts Donald Trump lashed out against the judge who oversaw his trial and insists he did nothing wrong Trump is now the first former US president to become a felon Michael George is outside Trump Tower where the presumptive GOP Presidential nominee just spoke Donald Trump is vowing to fight on a day after a guilty verdict made him the first former president and presumptive Republican Presidential nominee to be a convicted felon this is a scam there's a rig trial it shouldn't have been in that venue we shouldn't have had that judge 12 Manhattan jurors deliberating for more than 11 hours over 2 days found Trump guilty on all 34 counts of falsifying business records related to a payment made to adult film star Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 election to keep her quiet about an alleged sexual encounter The only voice that matters is the voice of the jury and the jury has spoken Trump's lawyer Todd blanch said the trial was flawed from the start because of everything around the the lead of this trial it it made it very difficult for for the jury to to to to evaluate the evidence kind of independent of what they knew coming in Trump could face prison time but many legal experts say that's unlikely I don't see personally him being sentenced to prison time I personally think there will be heavy fines um and some sort of uh heavy probation sentencing is set for July 11th just days before the Republican National Convention an early voter reaction appears split along party lines I don't think he got a fair trial I don't think it changed how I would vote in November boooo I'm so sorry Trump supporters he went losing so do you all right let's take a li look at the white house right now where President Biden criticized Trump's response to the verdict they found Donald Trump on all 34 felony counts now he'll be given the opportunity as he should to appeal that decision just like everyone else has that opportunity that's how the American system of justice works and it's Reckless it's dangerous it's irresponsible for anyone to say this was rigged just because they don't like the verdict now Trump's conviction may actually be helping him do something of prime Prime importance right now and that's raise money the Trump campaign says it raised nearly $35 million in the hours following the verdict Trump is expected to visit the Bay Area next week for a big fundraiser the event in San Francisco is being held by two Venture capitalists on June 6th where the lowest price ticket will cost 50 Grand they believe that this is red meat and dark liquor thrown to their constituency I mean this is right up their alley because they know they can raise money from this they can develop some momentum now while the money may be flowing in for now it may be too early to tell how his conviction and possible sentence will impact fundraising in the long term stay up to date with everything involving Trump's visit to the bay and everything else related to this verdict on our website kpix.com hi thanks so much for watching to view more content like this we've selected some videos that we think you'll enjoy and don't forget to like or click that button here on the bottom left of your screen to subscribe
