yo what's going on guys welcome back to the channel in today's video I'm going to show you how to take your USB microphone to the next level using a little tool called voic meter now I have done a video on this in the past which honestly got way more views than I ever thought it would have for a channel my size but looking back on the content now you can kind of tell that it was my first time recording and editing a video so today we're going to run it back I'm going to walk you through the entire process from start to finish and by the end of the video you're going to have a professional sounding m microphone for your videos and streams so be sure you stick around until the end so you don't miss a step all right let's get into it all right guys for step one we are going to be downloading a broadcasting software that includes stream elements streamlabs or classic OBS uh for this tutorial we are going to be using stream elements but I will have all of those Linked In the description below all right guys for step two we are going to add an audio input capture so once you have your software installed and opened it's going to look something like this uh they all look basically the same so head over here to your sources Tab and we're going to go down here to this plus sign and we're going to head up here and select audio input capture uh go ahead and name it whatever you want I'm just going to put VM right here uh click okay uh once you click okay it's going to give you the option to add a device we're just going to add our microphone select okay and this is the source I'm going to be using for the rest of the video so that you guys can tell the difference all right guys for step three we are going to add some filters to our microphone and two specifically the first one is going to be a compressor which is going to kind of level out your voice so that way you're not too loud you're not too quiet it's going to even everything out uh the second filter is going to be noise suppression which is going to eliminate any kind of white noise or static noise and it is also going to eliminate kind of like light background noise it's not a noise gate by any means but say like a squeaky chair or something like that it'll take care of that for sure that way you have a nice clear sound coming out of your microphone and to add your filters we're just going to go down here to our sources you want to rightclick on your audio input capture you want to select filters uh you want to hit this plus sign here and we are going to look for a noise suppression there it is right there you guys can name it whatever you want I'm just going to leave it default and then it is going to give you two options here I do not recommend using speaks uh always go with the RN noise it's good quality it tells you what it is right there so just stick with that uh the next one we are going to add is a compressor right here here it is and I'm just going to go ahead and leave these settings as default they seem to work pretty fine for me uh you guys can feel free to play around with it if you want to all right guys for step four we are going to head over to VBA audio.com this is where you download your virtual audio cable and also voice meter and be sure you guys are paying attention if you guys are windows users read the instructions right here extract all files and run setup program in administrator mode reboot after deinstallation you have to do the same exact thing whenever you download voice meter right here uh if you guys do not follow these instructions the software may not work properly so just make sure you are paying attention to that for step five we are going to assign our Hardware input and output inside a voice meter so once you open it up it's going to look something like this uh we are going to head over to our first audio Channel and you are going to click the drop- down box and select your microphone uh once you do that we are going to go over to Hardware out and you are going to click the A1 drop- down box and select your virtual audio cable and for step six we are going to replace our audio input capture with voice meter so let's go over here back into OBS we are going to go to our sources tab uh double click on your audio input capture and we are going to replace our device with voice meter I go and click okay and once you do that you can already hear the quality in my voice has improved uh you can hear the richness and the lows come through a lot more uh which is kind of the sound you want to achieve if you want to upload anything professional to YouTube and that is all thanks to the voice color panel if we go back into voice meter here uh this little thing right here on your first audio Channel if you move this thing around it kind of puts a effects on your voice so if we just kind of drag it over here uh I can't hear what it sounds like right now cuz I'm recording but it just kind of changes the way your uh voice sounds uh we're going back over here to the low end and I just kind of like to keep it right about here I think that's about good here's a little bonus tip for those of you who stuck around until the end of the video one of the most common issues within voice meter is stuttering audio I've done a video on that previously and I'll go ahead and Link that somewhere on the screen or in the description below but within the comment section of that video everybody got together and figured out that the most common solution would be to adjust your buffering settings so the first thing we're going to do is see if our microphone is wdm or mme and a way to find that out is go up here and click your Hardware input and as you can see right there it says wdm microphone Blue Snowball that is my microphone and you also want to make sure that your virtual audio cable is wdm or it matches whatever your microphone is set to and now that we know that we going to click the menu here you want to go down to your system settings and if you have any stuttering issues you want to find your buffering setting right here mine would be the wdm and I would increase that until the issue stops right now it is set to 480 the default is actually 512 but I think it syncs up with your sample rate right here mine is set to 48,000 Hertz I go over that in my other video um but I've had no issues so far with this go around of voice meter uh on my previous PC build is when I was having issues and you'll be able to see that in that video all right guys that is going to do it for me if you're still having stuttering issues like I said I will leave that video in the description you guys found any value in the video go ahead and drop me a like down below if you want to see more stuff like this go ahead and subscribe and I'll catch you guys in the next one [Music] oh
