TRAFFIC ACCUMULATION - Cities Skylines: Ep. #6 - RTAM City

hello everyone my name is Nathan and today it's time for another episode of cities skylines finally I can play games again I haven't played a game in like four days right now it's crazy however we are here we are back at 43,000 people we have had plenty of money and I think we are in good shape with the traffic as well in between the episodes I actually redid the entirety of the public transit once again we don't have anything new if anything we have less lines at the moment but my monorail stations get used a lot more so at this one was a bad example but right here we had 208 people in a week and right here well it's still not optimal but we certainly have more and more people using the monorail and I also have of course bus line set up a little bit better this time but we are still having issues here you can see at the moment it is four and a half thousand people we are transporting every week but these lines right here they just don't get surfed enough so what I did is I added another bus line at the exact same route I could only add four buses each route so at the moment we should have eight buses I also placed a whole bunch of trees and of course we're gonna wrap everything up with these types of trees all the way around this district and then I think we can move on I also added a pedestrian pathway to the industrial district as you can see and that is working out fantastically they actually walk for quite a bit I have to say we also have a subway station right here and if we look at the subways right now I had distributed them a little bit differently so we actually have the possibility to set up more lines and the wagons don't get into each other's way good with that out of the way let's play a little bit more we want to increase let's see this one requires a little bit of shopping but I think I want to start with the industrial so right here would be the first area let's do about two more and see how things develop oh yeah they immediately come here let's actually also see we are already at level 2 but we still need more services for this to work so what we could do easily in order to make this work is probably set up a couple of bus lines now of course this is not going to be very convenient we possibly have to make one line for each of these roads or we actually connect the roads and only allow public transit to use it I think that is an option we're also gonna need a little bit of shopping and I was actually thinking that this area right here could be shopping and we probably want high-density or at least yeah let's just go with high-density let's do that so we can get rid of a little bit of shopping demand and it's also close to the subway station so people possibly even walk there right here I thought we could have another park as well as here this would make for a great location for a park but first let me grab my tree tool and we're gonna add a couple of trees so I'm gonna be right back once I laid out a little area here with trees always makes it look a little bit better when it's cut off by a tree line yeah look at that that is already much much better it goes with the theme I'm kind of imagining this was a place that was just one swooping big forest and then we we built a city basically in the center of it there we go good enough I like it now we already have abandoned buildings here of course they are looking for workers no actually not too few services are you serious I mean we have access to police station firehouse we have a crematorium and we have a medical clinic so like they want garbage stuff we can do an incineration plant maybe right here that is more services or do you need parks maybe they also want a park who knows they could have a let's see something that makes sense well I guess a carousel for leisure activities I have no idea let's just go with the dog park I mean that makes more sense I'm gonna place one right there and maybe one right here let me see right there okay that did help a little bit I guess are you now upgrading yes okay we have all ready buildings at the top level here and oh my gosh traffic jam that's like what is happening here my gosh guys why are you changing the lane so stupidly I mean that never happens on the real highway yeah this traffic jam right here is utterly not necessary okay if I make them actually switch into the correct lane right here that might make more sense so stop everything if we just tell them everyone right here is going into the right lane so that is good but the left lane can go into the center or the left lane right there already okay and then we tell these guys right here to stay on the lane right there okay and then do we have anything else and the next one is this okay so maybe that works out better because people can already switch into the correct lane when they come in from here oh my gosh that is really bad anyways we need more industry we can do the rest right there and then maybe even more shopping on the other side oh we have almost no electricity at this point now I thought we did have something new we for instance after solar power plant it costs 80,000 a very high upkeep but it does look pretty good noise pollution 25 let's actually place that let me see at a brood okay yeah we could have it right here somewhere along these lines why the heck not I'm actually gonna do that and I'm also thinking about a connection to here though they should really use the highway in my opinion I mean traffic is flowing pretty nicely here I would say one more thing we could change is well there are only two arrows going right here and the rest is going straight so that's already pretty nice I need more people to use this freaking gas station here 180 only that's not good also the garbage what are you guys doing only 7 garbage trucks in use but everyone here needs a garbage truck come on Oh another thing we need to get rid of is the traffic lights right here man I just wish I could tell these garbage trucks to not use the highway maybe I actually can let me see vehicle restrictions so we could for instance grab this one and then okay passenger cars then we have buses taxis a cargo truck services okay so these will probably mean all the services let me see where are my freaking garbage trucks for instance right here I have one so if I click this and tell them to not do that anymore services off hold on maybe we only have to do that with the exit so yeah I just want to test this out we're gonna prevent services from going through here and through there I guess and then also not here and not there and then we just observe this and see if anything you know happens let me try to disable service vehicles and these might actually only be the police but you know the police also didn't work so I'm not sure what I'm doing here so we take all of these out and if I unpause then we should see hopefully no more services and other stuff using that and then I basically have to do this at every exit so right here potentially as well oh and we probably also have to do the bridge to be honest with you now that sucks a little bit well we can do it guys and I guess the last one we need to do is this one here no service or emergency vehicles please there we go how about that now we should not be seeing that anymore actually right here that's the last one I have to do be right back there we go that should do the trick now I have to observe it for a little bit I did this one yeah I think I did all of the important junctions there's actually another one I would like to do maybe another access to this city so we can ease off the traffic on this road but it is a little bit smoother now something else is accumulating here that I really don't appreciate it's just the freakin lane changing that is a little bit of a trouble but anyways for the time being I'm happy let's try to expand a little bit more oh we have another death right here someone died Oh No but look at that a lot of passengers here we might actually have to upgrade them even more with a bus station we might have to do that because the buildings are definitely not at their maximum level just this one here seems to be and everyone else is not at the maximum so why don't we build more parks which is always a possibility or we build other services let me try it with a park maybe even trees maybe even trees are gonna do something for us will we see some buildings upgrading I think I heard a building upgrading didn't see it though well trees don't seem to help as much as I would have liked parks will definitely more efficient I mean we could add these little Gardens here how much are they just 40 a week yeah let's just add Japanese gardens all over the place I mean why the heck not nobody has probably anything against that right Japanese garden there you go yes you get one everyone gets a Japanese garden this is like Google headquarters where it's supposedly nice but you know everyone knows it really isn't so did that help with the upgrading I don't think so also these parts here they are really really bad because the services reach them later I guess first of all I give them a little bit more time to try and upgrade okay so observing this for a bit the services do have a problem because of course at the moment they have to go through here but then they cannot go back because I kind of prevented them from doing that right so what I thought we could do is make something extra just for the services right here so if I go out like this and I could simply join up back here let's actually speed this up a little bit people are using it at least the ones that need to I guess yeah we might lose a couple of buildings because the a crematorium doesn't seem to be working I'm not sure where these guys are man they must be all over the place but certainly not in my district and it's burning guys what two buildings burnt down and nobody was there to take care of this what the heck I mean we have a pretty good fire coverage here I mean we could add another fire station to be honest let's just do it let's not think about it we might even want a better fire station here and look at that they are not happy with the fire stations we have and the traffic jam goes all the way up this just doesn't make sense why are of course lane switching it's always such a freaking issue oh well we're gonna be fine we're gonna be fine I would say it's time to add a couple more district we need more people right now we have a high demand for residential and of course not enough workers at the moment I might want to fill up some of these gaps with low residential for instance right here we could have another sector of low residential just the tunnel and I think I'm gonna do exactly that let's do this in a nice fashion we're gonna go around the corner such as this and then we come up to at this point I like that right here we're gonna do yet another corner or curve and bring it all the way up to here perfect and then finally one more Street that goes up to this point come on just touching the road but not really connecting and then right here dress we fill up with trees etc pretty good let's also set up the services I really want most of my waterlines to go beneath the streets it just doesn't make the most sense to me something like that we will already have the power so let's just set this up I want my houses to be right here just a little low residential you know now we're gonna have to do the powerlines a little bit differently maybe I can actually grab this one here and go out to this point and then up to this point yes and while I'm waiting for this to start growing and building I'm gonna add the rest of my trees I really should install the three brush mod there's a comment on almost every video about this but what you're gonna do yeah how about that I'm actually kind of tempted to do it with the train station here as well but I already know that I'm gonna make this a different intersection I'm actually not a big fan of this one and I also already know that we want a second connection right here so maybe that is something we could work on a nice little interchange I haven't seen any service vehicles anymore so maybe the strategy with traffic manager is actually working let's check out the status of these houses still the same they are not growing haha jeez okay so let me make a couple of bus stops I'm gonna go from here to there to there I guess we always do two stops and then we go right back oh my gosh I can't even really get here in a logical manner I have to say but I guess we can just do that so let me do this for all of my roads here and you can already see the happy faces everywhere so maybe they are actually up great look at that they are upgrading for sure so if that's what it's gonna take then we just do it right here take the bus stop and please upgrades that's a sound I like to hear more industry upgrades more people get jobs especially more educated people okay so if we need to we can still add more bus stops in between but I think it looks rather good look at all the upgrading that is happening if we check the status right here everyone here is already upgraded and these guys are following so perfect that means we are not needing any industry right now however what we do need is more residential and I mean a lot more how are these guys growing and not anymore do they actually yeah they cute upgrade a little bit more hmm I probably need another park for them I really fear I might I'm gonna add one right there a carousel you know for these guys and then maybe a Plaza with trees or this one here both of them no actually this one gets a little bit more entertainment but let's do the normal one I'm gonna add that right here I think only destroying two buildings that's fine and now they should be happier hopefully yes that's what I'm talking about upgrading upgrading that's what you have to do okay so now there is a power connection problem we need power for this one I fear we might have to add a whole other district in order to get more people in the joint at the moment not looking great I have to say you know what before I actually do that I'm just gonna go into normal speed we let things take their course and I'm actually gonna clean up a little bit here and then we're gonna take care of the second intersection I don't think we have a ton of time left to actually do this but holy cow look at all the abandoned buildings I hope they not rebuild immediately until we get the people yeah basically everyone right here has no workers at the moment this just doesn't make sense it's because they took a chop here freaking people so yeah this is gonna be my new living area right here we're gonna have another district about the same size as copper square so maybe give me a couple of seconds to actually design that and then I'm gonna be right back so yeah I mean we could do this pretty easily I'm actually tempted to make a living area on the left and to right side so we could go with our usual interchange design usually that actually works out pretty nicely and there we go that should already do the trick I probably have to destroy a couple of things here but let me first make the Main Avenue through the various districts I think I'm gonna end up doing something like that and maybe we can do a monorail or maybe there are trams Metro I don't really see the trams to be honest with you maybe they are not in this version but we can do mono s once again I mean with this design it makes much more sense and then we might have a couple of intersections to fill this up so we're gonna start right here all right there we go how about that I think that might be a clever design we have one two three four and five intersections maybe I should actually do one more right here so it really makes sense we could do one right there and then this is just a turnaround essentially or we could get rid of it completely and that probably means I want to cut this off yeah why the heck not so everything is more or less covered there are a couple of free spots but that is totally fine for decorative purposes okay so I guess we're gonna go with the mana rez once again in this case so mana rails where the heck are you probably large roads right there and we want to upgrade these to mono else so now preferably I would like to have a monorail station for every street right oh we could do a metro monorail train hub that is actually a train as well ooh that is actually intriguing I mean all in freakin one that is kind of crazy I think I'm gonna add that right here that's pretty darn cool and then a metro station let's add one here and of course we have to destroy the street this is a little bit agonizing I could just build a monorail along the street of course yeah but let's do a monorail station with roads I really want this to be right there and we want to do the same thing for all of these junctions so let me just go ahead and do that it's not always easy to place them straight but I think I got the hang of it and now just connect these guys aren't oh yeah there are definitely not straight does it bother me as the question and the answer is unfortunately yes all right there we go now more or less happy I would say all we have to do is set up a line and of course it's going straight from one to the next and then a back again now thinking about this maybe we don't need monorails right there I mean this is a hop right and a train station as well I just don't need that way to exaggerate it that means we can also upgrade this road and the rest is history I guess so let's decide for the shopping this is all gonna be high-density let me see we're gonna add some shopping right here that's for sure and I just hope that this is gonna be enough though maybe let's do a little corner more maybe this part right here let's see one two three four five six seven eight so two blocks just like that and the rest we're gonna fill up with the high density residential hopefully get tons more people in the joint and then of course we also need services and everything that goes without saying and I also want a buildings on the outside but we're gonna do low residential to wrap this all up that also means I'm actually gonna move this station here a little bit or the tracks so we have more space water 1/2 course water it's always the same with you ok there we go we are lacking the electricity but the water should actually be coming in very shortly I already built the pipes right there we just need a little bit of power let me see where I want to get this from and also this doesn't seem to be necessary anymore however we can add one right there let me see you can actually do this perfect ok I'm actually pretty happy with that so far let's just observe how this grows a little bit and then we shall see if that helped our city at all we should not forget to add the usual stuff so a school goes right there we're gonna have a high school right next to it they also deserve a university I guess but I want to build the university so the district on the other side will benefit as well then we're gonna have a garbage stuff but incineration plants are probably enough let me see yeah we might actually want to connect the DS hmm that might be intriguing or actually we could just build an extra road right here what act not and we build it up slightly let's go behind the university and incinerate a little bit of stuff here so incineration plant we're gonna have one right now for the time being then a medical center we can have one up top we also want a crematorium we're actually gonna have one right here and then another one maybe around this area we're gonna have a fire station as usual right here and of course a police station as well and that is essentially everything other than parks we haven't added yet but I guess that's easily fixed a carousel for you that you actually get one of those and a Botanical Garden is always something I enjoy and I would like to place this maybe here so they can use the subway to get there and we're gonna have our own subway station right here I guess let me see yeah that fitted in and nicely and people can actually take the tram or the monorail right away so all we have to do really is to build another tunnel that branches are from here for instance now let me see I want to make this nice and round connect to this one and we could have another line that goes from here too let me see where would we want to go maybe to this district and then we can go back yeah I think that's what I'm gonna do I'm gonna complete this line and then we're gonna add yet another tunnel that connects to this one nicely come on okay it's not much better but it's freakin working so that's fine we are gonna create yet another line right here which goes up top and then they can hop on a different line in case they need to go somewhere else right all right guys I would say with that out of the way I'm wrapping it up my son is actually complaining
