another day in the Tour of France but it's a farewell from Italy today as we now head to an early entry into the high Alps in fact the highest point that toour France ever rides over the top of the cier only 86.7 miles compared with the longest stage yesterday as we say goodbye to pinolo and we head now to valoir in our coverage presented by the feed coming up here with all the climbing starting in Italy ending in France today the long awaited in arrival of the tour to France into France the head out of Pinola up to the first climb in sestri a this is a long long climb 40 km at just under 4% not the steepest climb valley roads uh usually two lane good roads as they head into France over the cold deont genev the road does pitch up this is actually the the steeper of the three climbs in the T to France stage this year um but look for the tactics to play out uh sort of slowly here we'll likely see the race somewhat under control here as The Paton heads down the slightly more technical Descent of the uh gold deont jev as they head into the Gia uh again it's valley roads good two-lane roads there's not a critical point or fight for position uh but the the road does gradually pitch up more and more and more until they get to the upper slopes of the civier Gia that really do bite important to mention we have bonus seconds at the top of the the C Gia 85 and two bonus seconds which will definitely play out decisive in the fight for the GC and the yellow Jersey and then the plunge down to the line it's the steeper side of the gbia that they're going to head down to what will clearly be an exciting finish in bwa this is the situation at the start of the day abrahamson has the lead with 76 gay with 66 gay is better positioned here at the moment to grab those 20 points uh and he's got the Sprint to do it we saw that yesterday there he is 36 seventh in line right down to one point for 15th Place uh all for a Sprint here they are massing they are flying up this climb they're making it look almost flat there is Jonas down there AB hamson little ground to make up bu he's right where he needs to be he doesn't have to win this Sprint he does have to get within a few points though if he can get in the top five he'll keep his jersey unless bam who's 10 points behind wins the this mattz pson and his teammates three Riders doing the lead out they are all in for the green Jersey this year in the tour to France I think that's a pretty emphatic showing of what their intentions are Phil I think you've read it absolutely right Bob 200 me of the SP watch for pson to there in fifth place with Five Points so he gets his first points of the king of the mountains 230 the as we start the climb of Mont genev it's 8.1 km exactly 5 miles now to the top of this climb there's the details for you an elevation gain of 1614 ft and we hit the altitudes now 6,12 few deep breaths when we get up there there's the result of the first climb at cestria Williams 5 madas b and Johansson overall abrahamson of course keeps his leave for now madas has closed very slightly there and it's another 532 one pointer here same as the previous climb it's second category bom sha Quinn the USA champion riding with his teammate the champion of Italy there Alberto bettio the green jersey and the team captain of Education First now in yellow Richard canas pretty impressive sight there for EF champion of Portugal champion of Italy champion of the United States and the yellow Jersey absolutely I like it beautiful graphic there yeah there's a start of the Sprint going barill going for it big time let's see if matados can get on the wheel he's trying to do so but barill has a big jump on the Chasers Williams coming as [Music] well well that's he gave them far to Williams again yes took that on the line buggy and again madwell's really laid back on that once again so I guess he's not really interested so Willi continues on he's got 10 points now he's climbing up the overall he's this group Pacha aopo vingo Rodriguez rugit Juan a Uso and Joel almea on the front and one last teammate also good riding by Mikel Landa for Remco aole P Pacha giving a lot of respect to yonas vingo that's most certain few hundred meters left before a very critical time bonus most certainly the destiny of the next yellow Jersey is up for grabs that's what they're Racing for here at the top of the cold of liia 8 five and two as they start to go now pagach has got the reaction from vingo and reaction from Evan aole he left it a bit late he should have expected it now can they catch this man T Advantage it's not a lot of daylight but T Pacha are such a good descender that rogl and everybody else especially vingo are really going to have a lot of work to do wet roads there from the melting snows might make it a little bit tricky on the early drops on the way down but he took him up to his limits vingo there and cracked him and vingo watch out he can come back pacha's never seen this much daylight between himself and yonas vingo in the last couple of tours of FRS but he has it right now vingo on the back foot struggling to maintain the the tempo of tar pachar over the top of the Gali 8C bonus for the man over the top first 5c bonus the man over in second place they go down the mountain towards the Finish split by 3 seconds with a 10 second 6C and 4 second bonus at the bottom as to who wins the stage over the top goes Pacha job done that was his plan throughout Now The Descent now we'll see if there's real pressure on Yono Figo if he can close this gap on the first few Corners then he's maintained his own Tempo he's looking over his shoulder to see if anybody's going to come around he might have to chase T Pacha all the way down this mountain himself well I think he might go on because look at the Gap here evole tried cracked and has gone back that was in the last 700 M fill put serious pressure on everybody else in that very select front group aan aole and rogish got a lot of work to do to catch Tedy Pacha he is flying down the mountain Tedy Pacha and yonas Figo by the way absolutely flying off this mountain 15 to go for vingo 10 seconds the gap between the two vingo is about to get caught by Rodriguez and the Chasers that is auso and Primos rage also having a good Descent of the G he's an incredible tactician he's he's a is a diesel engine he misses in Romania this is how he brought his time back in the Sprint to the line when a aole crossed the Gap and saved just a second and it was very important he was right up amongst it he's closing him no games they show to ro glit a Uso they're the leaders at the moment this is the man who's going to go out in front in yellow tonight I don't know whether he'll give us a bow on the finishing line but he'll certainly give us a pretty excited salute here as he snatches yellow there's the chase at 1 km 35 seconds and nobody helping M go here he's had to do all of the work and that might cost him second place this is it though for Tad Pacha the king is back on his throne as he comes around that corner now through the send you can see the exuberance the excitement in his face every second counts on the road to nice H he I think he'll give us a two arm salute but he won't before he's crossed that Finishing Line he knows the importance of time T pogacha returns to his throne now and as he always promised to do start the clock that will manage the damage checks the line that's it bangs the chest throws his arms in the world T Pacha is in yellow a aole leading the Chasers Rog glit on his wheel it's Remco is the Sprinter they push Binger go to the back no time bonuses for vingo Remco EV molo he'll certainly keep his white jersey and he wants to get second and a couple of seconds as well he should be in second place overall tonight with this Sprint finish I you so trying to get those last six seconds he might just get the better of a aole not quite a aole but does get third on the stage the chances of keeping this yellow pretty strong as for the stage results he wins by 35 seconds he also picked up time bonuses that'll show up when we take a look at the GC standings momentarily but what a day for T paga and his entire team the team was terrific up the climb and he went by himself and a away he went Tad pagota his 12th T fron stage win 63rd climb of the Gia and that descent all about T pagach and his team so the overall standings he wins the stage by 35 with the time bonuses his lead overall is 45 Remco Evol just behind him and yonas the two-time defending champion in third place see how happy to is at top the yellow Jersey Podium yeah arms up smile celebrate he more excited about this one than the one he pulled on the other day very clear looking at
