we're gonna do another segment on common mistakes we see when transmissions are being installed one other problem that we run into on the installation of the transmissions is on the torque converter very very important on the torque converters on this particular torque converter you can see here that this has a kind of an extruded hub right here and this hub will actually index slide into the back of the crank shaft and that's what keeps everything stable that's what keeps it lined up with the crane well quite often the these will just get put in and there's no grease or anything in the back of that crane and they don't put any grease in here and that actually the torque converter actually you know through acceleration and deceleration when it's folded up to the flexplate the torque converter moves you know not that much but it there it does move a little bit so this actually slides a little bit in and out of that crankshaft and if you don't grease it those can get seized in there and then you have problems with breaking a flex plate or possibly breaking the hub on the converter because that converter can't move the way it's supposed to so just a very very thin layer of assembly Lube or grease on this back hub can save you a lot of problems also the other thing that we've seen quite often on torque converters when when they're being installed people trying to you know have due diligence and do the right thing they'll actually put grease on the hub where this converter goes into the transmission that's a huge no-no we you don't use grease on them it's best just to use a thin layer of automatic transmission fluid or they actually have an assembly Lube for transmissions that under heat the grease actually liquefies and turns into a liquid and then it dissipates so these have a chance to seal the problem with the grease is you put the grease on here these seals never seal with that grease in there and then all of a sudden you have transmission fluid leaking out pasture your torque converter seal where it slides into the transmission something else very common that we see on the installation of these so that's just a few more things to look out for when you're installing your transmissions and hopefully it'll save you some time and save you some headaches and save you a comeback or two so until next time have a good day [Music]
