[Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] welcome to 400 Thunder drag-racing we're heading this Sydney drag way and it is the Gulf Western oil nitro thunder we're talking top fuel today with me mark Allen couldn't have better weather for it I'm excited because cool conditions usually means quick times and top your drag racing 500 plus 4 meters an hour we've got a battle royal on for the championship Kelly bets we get sore there on screen this man is back Darin Morgan he could be a cat amongst the pigeons and of course the rap asada teammates are all in it rush me Gregory caught up with our defending champ Kelly Betts current points leader reigning champion inside fuel coming into the second last round of the championship this is the time in the season when the pressures on and look being in the lead we want to stay there say yeah we need to see win lights nothing but win lights this event say we want to keep up the top there and keep that momentum going into the winter nationals a little bit challenging losing yesterday because of the weather obviously that makes things hard when you come in to race a a little bit blind didn't go the way you wanted in the test pass but first around to raise a different deal hard to know we didn't get any testing as they as you said so we took the swing at it obviously didn't you know quite work but we've got the data from it and make some changes and we go back out again you've won a championship already you're in the championship hunt again this year are you were taking it any different than you did last year is it all just going out do your own thing and get down the racetrack every time we go out there we want to get the win light see the the attitude of the team the attitude of me is the same like you want to do nothing but make sure that everything is done right in that car so that the end result is is the win light soon yeah it's it's all the same it's all the same season to another season as much pressure as the last one well the pressure is on Kelly Betts defending champ she is on top of the table with 263 but it's a very skinny margin Dewayne Newby and in fact his rap aside a teammate Ashley Sanford will restore within mathematical reach Damien Harris is still within reach and of course we've got the wild-card this weekend Darin Morgan well Darin Morgan back after an 18 months lay off back in the seats it's got to feel good to be back out out here racing oh yeah yeah nice it's a bit of fun that Sun Z up today not rain like it's been and the people are real appreciative of us being inside yeah it's cool first time out so in the car was really throwing a bit of a dart at the dart board as far as getting the car down the racetrack and it seemed like it did what you wanted in that test pass oh yeah there's a bit more technology than that Benny's very very waiver at what he does it's yeah it's it's tough gig but wasn't a nice pass they would drop the hole later in the past but they've done everything we wanted to do a little too conservative in that area so I just filed on them there was perfect so planned from this point on is only to do this event and then see what happens see how the funding goes looking at the winters in next season we're still waiting to affect the core you make we could be waiting for a while if he's talking about rusty Gregory's check there is Ashley Sanford we are heading into round one of three rounds of bull run racing mark the interview there alluded to the fact that we had a test day yesterday but it was totally rained out the teams had one shot at the fact this morning and now it sprayed in the racing the car of Damien Harris here burning out and he will be taking on Phil read to the left the screen Harris ran a pass in the first session earlier today shot off to an early three three nine three second lapse time so that was pretty stout Paris has laid down some extremely quick time to see Betty win lights as you would have liked over there in the other Lane Phil read well they have really kept the act up with the genre's racing top fuel car the black member as they affectionately call with Jackie they qualified for the final that's the last round here at Sydney before the rain came and we didn't get to determine a winner there and I think they're just looking to continue where they left off mark I think you correct yeah they've been really really consistent at 380 zone in that drakes that we see the highest rates here the crew chiefs just make sure everything is absolutely perfect before we send these beats down there's crew chief Bruce Reed looking over and nodding to Santo rap asada jr. Damien Harris his crew chief yep already send the drivers in and then we're up to who's going to get to 500 kilometers an hour first who's going to get that win line [Music] holeshot to read and he's tearing at home at 384 bits a380 Paris the quicker time 516 kilometers an hour but Phil we got there first it all happened here mark let's break down this past a double o for light from Reed Harris runs the quickest pass of the season in Top Fuel he doesn't get the win because of the holeshot and Reed's Lane they run a PB with a 384 we just seen a 380 in a Trinity for him the very first pairing of Top Fuel all that 377 national record could take a battering tonight possibly you could see the little jump on the start line there by Phil Reed and the huddle reef am going to be on top of the world and then here with Bruce torii cruciate fulfil sometimes the driver gets a job done for you mate hole shot win there fulfilled yeah it was a good drive by Phil he's been practicing since last year because Kelly Betts leaves normally before everybody else and we've been really hammering him and even in the first qualifier that I have said to Kelly can you leave when you hear our motor go but he's been practicing practicing so well done I wouldn't be expecting too many favors from Kelly this weekend she's got a chair Peetz up on the line as you guys do there 84 that's good form to you yeah it's pretty good Turner's got his car truckin so but I mean there's a quality cars here so it's gonna be a crapshoot yeah we're gonna have me feel read here mate you were not sleeping a lot double-o for reaction get you the win very good I thought I was late but now hats off to my crew premiere higher obviously Norfolk motors but yeah and obviously my brother and you know all these boys huh go on the next round I think I went what do you go 84 yeah quit before the finish so that he's gonna drive around me but equipped before the finish said the molineres probably down on what it was but yeah now it's a wins a win so and hopefully we might go low but those ciento cars are pretty stout so I think the somebody we got a quick than 84 good luck in the next round back up to you guys in the commentary box yeah well somebody already has run quicker than the 84 and it was the guy that lost the race Damien Harris Wow three eight zero those that's going to put him in a good stead for the eighth bonus points to the low ET the round but we get another six cars that are going to challenge back yet we've got the queen of speed Rachelle's flathead back at Sydney dragway taking on actually Sanford to the left of stream for episode aware sport international yeah the Battle of two of the three ladies in the field this weekend of the Gulf Western oil nitro thunder and of course rochelle up from Victoria representing at the event sponsor Gulf Western oil Ashley Sanford flies in from California each round of the Top Fuel Championship driving this R at masada Autosport international team for Santo Ram Posada and the family backing by Tyson trains and Atlantic oil man this should be a good run this is gonna be really good run last time a ferocious fight Isis very race track she actually got runner up to disobey and I ran very consistent bring auntie laps times that you see we're so freakin that strikes the interstage the clip the first leaning those really tough makes with his nose lips deep freeze there at all the crew chief Glenn microts from the US he's over here making all of the tuning calls Rob cabin Ino crew chiefing for Ashley Sanford it really is a team sport drag racing particularly in Top Fuel and thanks a lot of crew members to get these cars down the racetrack here in Sydney drag way Ashley Sanford got a small hole shot runs at 384 512 kilometres an hour rich shelves for 1/4 is really respectable but I'm a nationally made it looks low yeah you can see to the right so screen over so spice color it's actually got a drop cylinder in that engines are or you're pumping air that work grub robbing the car for about a thousand horsepower therefore I fell flat but actually said but that seemed another PB so no car as well we've seen three three ATS out of four passes so the conditions absolutely perfect the track is tight and it ain't over suspect doesn't drop a cylinder she probably would've went in the three second zone but we've got a happier episode a team on the start line I'm not sure if this is Top Fuel or modified because we've had four cars down the track and three of them have been in three eighties all within 400s Rob cavaquinho crew chief for Ashley Sanford that's a win that's more points in the bank and that's a good run yeah that's good we can't be any happier I mean we've been struggling with clutch plate issues really for the last three rounds Siena said look let's just get the right parts in so we we shipped in some new plates and bang you saw what she did today a 388 384 and you need to run that because it's going to be a tough field these guys are going to run quicker behind us is to go to more runs tonight and a beautiful race track absolutely congratulations mate go get your driver thank you Oh a busy day now she said but it's absolutely pumped with the win we're getting even a few words how was that 384 you know I'm so happy and so proud of this team right here that is a team best for us so what an exciting way to start this day off 88 84 I can't wait to see what we do next but lots love to the rapid our two boys two crew chief Rob his daughter's birthday was this weekend so there's so much Thunder and of course the st. e team do it a little bit differently than the other sakyo Draper teams this weekend their engine is built and designed in-house of course it's a three valve overhead cam E and this car was on a bit of a Tara earlier today interesting almost into the three second zone so these guys are really getting a hold of that tune-up as well they're great to see eagle silicon ignition leads to or being with the team for years continuing their support and also of course our event sponsor Gulf Western oil there is Santino rapper solder on the left of the car he crew chiefs this the leading of the rap asada Autosport international team the only one we have running at the event with a full canopy wind stress still there's a nice place up of that unique safety three valve per cylinder top fuel engine good crowd in here at Sydney drag way oh why newbie 382 502 kilometres an hour Terri Sadie lost Oh a supercharger belt still ran 402 so close to the three seconds oh yeah well mate Wayne Newby gets the win32 that is stuff but I've got to say I'm really impressed with Terry sandy there 402 and it looks like he had a drop cylinder on the head as well as we could see from behind for newbie getting the wind to crew happy there break times that's the second quickest part of this session as well for the newbie team well crew chief Santino is now seen all three of the rapper starter cars run into the 380s Rugby Danny visenteno Reposado absolutely overjoyed with that win currently the high points car at the moment despite not being the quickest car congratulations mate that's got to put a big smile on your face after the test run now we'll bit nervous but seeing something like that just brings your confidence back I think I didn't think it would go that quick but it's definitely competitive to win today so it's really written out spirits on the team so will will one run that and see what we can do is there anything better than getting a pat on the back from you that's a good job yeah why newbies alongside me you've got some valuable points after round 1 into this championship that you're chasing yeah we have to be careful there we trip the only eye food a little bit on that first run and we just had to back it down a bit and that's I felt a bit better than the free 82 but good to get the win and just hopefully that maybe Darren Morgan might help us out this round yeah all good luck turn the car around thank you well he's referred to Darin Morgan the man we call the possible spoiler at this weekend because he comes forward with the AEG his first event for the season he is up beside Kelly bets in the lamb Athena family course popular actor Kelly the championship leader Kelly the defending champion and all of that right Posada team are going to be watching the result of this race because it's Darrin Morgan and well get a win light here wouldn't that throw the whole championship upside down it would become because the teams in second third and fourth in the championship at all one round one erasing here so far so the pressure is back on our defending champion Kelly Betts he cannot take Morgan Wiley his crew chief in Patterson has been traveling the life 18 months from united states america europe learning tuning crowing on these popular accent he would have learnt a lot in life 18 months oh you cannot make these guys lightly at all and of course he's a four-time Top Fuel champion the world Aaron Morgan but equally the Lamartine a team you know the the operation that that family has put together is second to none absolutely and well the choice to to pick a young lady that was racing and modified eliminator and top fuel car paid dividends last year with a championship in a Wookiee year can she make it two in a row she wants a win light here to do that what a drag race jellybeans gets in a 387 hole shot to a 386 how good is this Top Fuel around 1 is putting on a show another hole shot victory here for - Kelly Betts Darin Morgan hasn't lost anything at all in that 18 months of layoff have a look at the replay here - almost perfect passes side-by-side 387 386 win margin has to be down 2 hundredths of a second absolutely brilliant first round of Top Fuel at Sydney drag way Phil Lam Athena his drivers heading in with a win guys that was an insane race side by side Andy would feel that Matina car owner for Kelly Betts to dry the pool blind out again for you there mate yeah well what can I say top fuels really turned it on and that's all we're here for just fast and safe racing and Kelly's doing the job in the car the boys are doing you know an awesome job on the putting the car back together and that so yeah look we're just happy days another round win not the maximum points the Reposado cars are coming at us which you don't expect anything different so man it's it's tough out here when you got six of the eight cars in the 380s that is incredible yeah well which way can we go now so we'll just go a little bit faster I suppose and try and keep up with the boys but yeah working it's just fantastic well she's still the championship later might I think at this stage very very close but very congratulations go get your driver yeah Kelly Betts you're defending your championship down here and you've got yourself a round 1 win that's got to be a you know good confidence in the bank definitely I mean oh no you just said it was a hole shall we and I'm not sure what the reactions were there but felt awesome to get that car down after the test pass there but credit to the crew credit all the boys we got it down there we got the win yeah well good luck in the round - thank you round one six of the cars in 380s two of the races one on hole shots the bonus elapsed time points are going to be critical Wayne Newby ended up with the most points with 27 Ashley Sanford 26 bill Reed 25 Kelly Betts 23 Damien Harris got five loop loose points five 8pt points puts him on 13 all of these races going to be back for round two we're going to have that straight after the break and when four hundred thunder top duel is turning it on like it is here at Sydney Gregg way for the Gulf West at all night race thunder make sure you're with us [Music] [Music] well the Sun is setting here at Sydney Dragway at the Gulf Western oil nitro thunder mark you can feel that air just getting a little bit cooler a little bit crisper what's this going to do for the top Fuel cars well naturally the the conditions getting better will naturally make the images make more horsepower and then it's also the track is going to be a little bit better than what it was earlier today so usually in these sorts of conditions setups and that they're about two three hundreds quicker and then you're knocking on the door of a national record times and Robert well Kelly Betts knows that she needs a lot of points in this round if she's going to make the major final she's down there with rusty Gregory she's running away from me here and she's not going to get too far Kelly Betts current saw fuel points leader reigning champion in the 400 thunder series Kel you pull point out in that first round got the hole shot win not a bad way to do it yeah we were happy with that the car was on a pretty decent number to be honest early incremental showed 79 80 ish but yeah it started to turn the tire and then put a hole out so that first round racing was pretty incredible in terms of tall field we had six of the eight cars in the 380s and that is absolutely insane while sitting in the car and I just said every pass like everyone's just gone down and then it's like 80 they say be that lady and all those little bonus points they're gonna add up at the end of the year because at the moment there's not a lot of points in it as far as first and second in the championship newbie that loco ver there he's trying to chase you down so all these little points will add up after the all run format a hundred percent and that's why we're all going for quick ATS I'm sure all of us a shallow stage we can go for that reaction time you know you're not ever tempted to just roll it in a little bit deeper and shrine I guess pull out a little bit of reaction time cover yourself in glory rather than the tuna no our main focus is to get the 80 on the board and look at my reaction times obviously go a little bit slower because of the shallow staging but I'm trying to hit the trees best I can with that so try a whole shot as well as Stacy shower get the ETA on the board for Mark Kelly talking about staging shallow to improve Ichi how's that work well she'll bring the dragster right into stage and stage on that front edge of the front wheel and as the car launches the Thomas won't starts the back of the wheel gets through the beam so sort of like a run up before the times actually start a little rolling start so gets that little advantage which might be as small as two or three thousand but it could make the difference whether you get ATT points or 70t points in this three round or run system exactly the crew chiefs love it and I'll tell you what there's bit of a puppet of Reed's car then when they caught that up they all looked at each other and it seemed so good they're going forward Darin Morgan the burnout procedure and fillery finishing up his procedure as well that car sounds nice and crisp now not sure what that pop was on the fire up but obviously nothing important Phil read he got a hole shot win in round one Darin Morgan was the victim of a whole shot against him these two are going to be fired up definitely as a racer Darren wolven he's gonna have that in the back of his mind for so he's gonna be going into stage think I need to hit this tree I've got to be quick I put it I can't let Phil Reed get any sort of advantage on me at all on this Racing service here Phil Reed though double o4 that means he was only for thousands away from well five thousands away from a red light so that's got a play on your mind yeah definitely and that was the best reaction time we've seen so far this season in Top Fuel as well so they'll be really proud as a draw but hitting that sort of reaction time there and round one but it all happens again what you did in round one doesn't matter now it's round two here for the 400 Thunder of course we had the golf personal a nitro thunder Evenki Darin Morgan was 200 slower than Phil Reed in round one of racing Reed had Lane choice he's taken to the other side of the racetrack here all these cars in the 3.8 seconds own in round one can we see three 70s tonight at the gold Western oil nitro Thunder it's on the cards Reid was so far out in front then the engine dies in a 396 at 503 kilometers an hour for Darren Morgan and what a come-from-behind win mark ear Reid was out on him he went eight for one to the 60-foot in that drag so it was streaking away and then he's lost power and let Morgan come back past him for the win he was spinning at the top end as well but the looks of it that drag so it's going to be swishy on him if you watch the replay him read out real strong not too sure what happened down trap yet and you see Morgan to the left of screen just jacks get past him well not the sort of wind that Darren would have liked but it's still 20 points in the bank and the crew chief saw it get there yeah down here on the start line we've been Patterson mate I don't think he putting enough nacho through this car you know I'm not crying enough down here on the start line night that thing was absolutely popping 396 that's around wind congratulations and I got the win we wanted to be a little bit faster than that but you know it's coming along pretty well and hopefully I'll get to run again tonight and we'll put on a bit of show you gotta be a little bit more kind to yourself because that's only the third run on the combination 396 into the truce that's good night that's that's all too shabby you know just having fun this weekend yeah Jerry Morgan welcome back to Top Fuel and you get yourself a round win yeah I think I headed out of the groove is a bit loose up the top there but anyway we got a win so it's cool yeah it's good to see you back here racing as well so we hope to see here more we want to be more find me a sponsor and we'll be rocking here all the time 80 good luck with that was he in round number three anyway it would be great to see Darrin Morgan on the 100th under top fuel trial a little more often there is actually Sanford that works a bit we don't when they'll blame out one side of the engine mark yeah that's me but you don't normally see that in the burnout pull the top your drags as the flames out of a pipe so that's interesting definitely a bit odd but it shouldn't be cause any dramas here we see Terry sailing to the right of screen backing up in the Straits so close to that first three second pass in round one they had a drop cylinder from the hit of the throttle so it doesn't drop a still in Iraq and he was definitely in that three-second zone yeah Ashley Sanford's got to be careful here because Terry definitely has the ability to get up and and bite and we've just seen still Reed he lost in round two so he's got one win for two starts Darrin Morgan's got one win from two starts to get to that championship final to get the biggest wag of points later on tonight what you want these two wins for food and the most number of bonus points for quick elapsed times as possible Ashley this is a must-win race for her if she wants to have a shot at going into that championship final and baby may be claiming her first ever goal Christmas tree trophy but Terry sandy wouldn't we love to see a win light come on for that team I think there'd be a bit of a cheer here he did that [Music] and it will be Sandford not without to live without effort there a 385 over the 500 again at 509 and Terry sandy was taken to her something's gone wrong his engine went quiet and then I thought well I don't know well I thought Ashley may avert may have been headed for the center line there because it took a step it some of the replay here Sam feet to the right of screen she was in the center of the group and then instead of moving towards the finish line there might have been spending your tires down track as we saw in Morgan's past as well she did the right thing button it off but she had a bit of fun in the break in bringing the stretcher up from 500 kilometers per hour have a look at the flame on the left-hand side for Ashley Sanford a little bit of green tinge there so might have been burning up a head gasket till the finish line yeah the head gaskets are made of copper so when they start burning up they get a bit of green tinge in the flame that you see how the exhaust pipes well that is one of the drop meseta cars through with two wins from two starts now we have why newbie to take on Rachelle splat Rachelle for golf Western oil way newbie for Atlantic oil got away love the way the oil companies get involved in Top Fuel Drag Racing because it's the ultimate research and development lab nobody punishes oil like these guys yeah when you're talking 10,000 horsepower nitro methane you need the right stuff inside that engine as we see resource but they're backing up to see a hand on the handbrake they're slowing the strikes are down its come back then I actually have a foot brake in these graphs is they have a hand brake so these backed up and we see newbie on screen here as well great picture from the onboard looking back the length of this rap asada or Dysport international car there is Santino Reposado that's been calling the shots on this team for quite some time Glenn microts likewise for Rochelle splat she was so close to the three second zone in round one we've seen well we've seen the apt to be equalized with Darin Morgan taking a win against Phil Reed Ashley chance first got two wins from two starts now the pressure is on this fan because Wayne Newby he's number two on the points if he wants to challenge Kelly Betts he has to win here we'll win because Rochelle sweat with a problem very early I how consistent is this three point eight four seconds again five hundred and two kilometers an hour more importantly he was to thousands of a second quicker than actually Sampat so he picks up some bonus points their way newbie I'm not sure Apple Michele's car she she got off the Salomon pretty strong and then it lost power about twenty thirty meters down track it didn't go far off the start line newbies cow look to me the front end wondering a little bit but he's driven it all the way to over 500 kilometers an hour - from - to the wrap asado theme all chiefed up by Santino to thousands of a second you are into the final over your teammate that's all that was in a 2007 second centeno Reposado happy man into another final with that canopy car this format thing just hasn't sunk in that it's just happened like that that I'm in the final so I'm still getting my head around that but start to sizzle head off but they're replaceable and I'm just happy to do a repeat run last time we came out for the night session eliminations and we messed it up so we wanted to learn from that and it's made it down the racetrack on a cold tight track and all that modified experience occurring is starting to rub off some consistency this hot fuel today night sometimes you just got can't get too greedy and 82 you got to be happy with that and an 84 that's that's can't be happy with that absolutely Matt Kevin us and stop into the racetrack yeah he was actually sampling you've done two wins you're the first top you'll get two wins in this championship round I'm so excited and so happy that was a wild run for me I felt like I was holding on it was not wanting to really stick it was shaking pretty good but I just didn't want to let off the throttle got it down there 85 man we were just consistent right now so if we could pull off one great number like this this wrap is starting a team see might be able to pull this off just watch Navy get a win as well so you could be your teammate in the final oh man it's fun but you know what noobs I love you it's time to get some revenge we got to take that guy down good luck thank you okay mark I've just been doing champ quick mental arithmetic here for Kelly Betts to make the final she has to win this race and run low II feel around that's the way it works out for me for her to get enough points to get ahead of Ashley Sanford newbies there regardless what happens if he will be racing either Ashley Sanford or Kelly bets that's the simple mathematics I write this at the moment is a Sanford newbie final Kelly Betts is the only other driver now they can potentially change that final and she needs to do that because newbie is nipping at her heels in the championship as well so she not only needs to win he needs to run faster than the cars that have already been down the track around food and she needs to be the quickest car on grounds today which is Damien Harris who's lined up his cider and not only the quickest car on the grounds today is the quickest car so far this season and Tapia with a380 in round one Australian record holder in the 3.7 second zone there's Santo Reposado jr. just making those final arrangements look at Wayne Newby the big race in the championship dropped out of here he is willing on his teammate Damien Harris jr. taps the wing that's all the demo now Ken Kelly bets gonna win pinche run low easy Kensi got the final it won't be Harris he in his trouble 394 with a 7 she needed a 384 with a 7 car at 488 kilometers an hour slowed it down a little bit that is going to make it a newbie Sanford final my tea was amazing Wayne ran off he wanted to watch this race he knew how critical it was in his championship in Wayne you said we win and you're going with Ashley Sanford to the final yeah that's really great for Sano and the Reposado family shame Damian couldn't put Kelly out then but I think we still might be going points lead would you see what happens and we're going with a next round in the final and so we can beat actually or would you see what happens whoever wins it'll be a great race we love won a championship comes the end of the final races yeah it can't wait like it's gonna be a good battle between her and the Lamb Tina car can't wait for that good luck in the final well Rob I'm looking at this now that was a really slow pastor Kelly but it's really hard to see but I wouldn't be surprised if they to drop a cylinder or something which you can't really see at night because of the planes but at 394 as we see issues obviously with Harris they're on their head the shoots coming out earlier it tells me something's popped in the supercharger or something there the men are fold yeah because that's an automatic system if the if the brush panel goes in the supercharger the parachutes are out automatically this is the angle that we'll probably see something in the top end for Kelly Betts you can't see anything here it looks like a clean straight pass across the finish line it looks like they're just down on horsepower potentially therefore Kelly's got a guarantee that 394 us not what they were looking for yeah Kelly's car did make a move and half track and probably cost her a spot in the final yeah I'm here with Kelly Betts and you've done you once for two rounds out of two but not quite enough to go to do that final this weekend that's a bit of a bomb the car was moving around a lot up there so I don't know if that's just wiped off a bit of et for us but look I thought it ran all right I suppose we'll just go into the to the next round and try and get as many points as we can so yeah still still a good result I suppose yeah love is up the championship doesn't it yeah a little bit obviously Wayne getting through now to the final that's going to make a bit of a difference to things so we'll see how it all ends up good luck thank you well Kelly does come back for round three but she won't be racing for the biggest swagger Rochelle they'll all be back chasing more championship points to add to the table that's round three that's where we're going to see another four great Top Fuel racers it's coming up after the break make sure you don't go anywhere [Music] [Music] welcome back to Sidney Dragway at the Gulf Western oil lot nitro Thunder this is a massive drag strip that's been dug put together for the people of New South Wales by the government here great crowd in and they've been enjoying some fantastic Top Fuel action in every single race market I tell you what I've actually got my jumper on now Robin the conditions have got considerably colder than round two of racing it'll be interesting to see how these top Fuel dragsters go now here in round three because all the conditions sometimes be a bit tougher to get these cars down the crew chiefs really start to earn their dollars well what we're seeing though from the pro alcohol cars and pro Slammers etc it's a fast race track okay so do they try and run a through 370 and take a risk or do they dial it back a bit and if you dial it back and don't put enough horsepower to the start line that can give you other trouble and when you talk about those other troubles then you're talking about a shakedown crash and so forth and because of these conditions being older than actually making more horsepower again or while they were earlier in think but the colder temperatures that rubber you got underneath those really gets a little bit stiffer on the track so it might not have as much quite but we have seen some quick passes and pro after on the coastline classes already so it'd be really interesting to see what these Caulfield races to the two Gulf Western oil back cars of Rochelle sweat and Therese ad going head-to-head in round three of Top Fuel the conditions will they play apart every other team is going to be watching what happens here trying to get a gauge on just exactly the change if there has been any in the racing surface you don't underestimate or overestimate here with the Top Fuel dragsters Oh both got off the start line but then rattle the tires it's tire shake I think you're right I think you're getting to look at the replay rod but I think they may have underestimated the racetrack and might have a bit more bite than they're thinking once we see the replay here of both Terry sainty and Rochelle splat we'll find out keep an eye on those rear Goodyear slicks on these cars you can see them coming out of shape you can see the marks on the start line what they want them to do is just spin slightly off the line now trying to grip too much and coming out of shape and virtually going square pretty much you can see that Terry saying he got the win he rolled through for the win it might be quick but it's 20 win points on the championship for Sadie helmet off Mike you are looking pretty happy you guys have a win but you had to do a bit of a stair job yeah shook the tires pretty hard and all I remember thinking Jesus sideways I'm glad I didn't bump the throttle again I would have been good about nasty but these things that got so much power like when really making a lot of power now and on that run there we just didn't get it right but I'm really proud of my crew I'm proud of you know Golf Western for second behind us the Eagle leads speedflow fittings it's all Ozzy companies everyone's behind us I got the best crew in the in the pit area and it's all about really yeah for my dad Stan Sadie and and all my crew I just love everybody it's great to hear it's an Australian car isn't it yeah it's a Aussie free valve we run on Australian stuff wherever we can but yeah the Gulf Western oil we're running in the rear end we run the 250 weight heavy shock oil we run it in the engine and if you want to test something you put it on nitro then you find out how good it is and we're really happy with it we're glad to hear the nitrous Honda next pairing coming up once again we've got 20 championship points at stake for the winner the runner-up in five keep those tables and keeps those totals ticking over but it's not as good as running the championship final where we'll see Wayne Newby and Ashley Sanford later they get 40 points for the win and 25 points for the loss we see both cars backing up here fillery to the right of screen Damien Harris to the left of screen for episode or sporting national backing up in that dragster basically when they're backing up they'll take their foot off the clutch try and get speed up and then they'll put their foot back on the clutch and hopefully roll back to minimize that's the the clutch usage as much as possible before the Carson these cars don't run transmissions there are just a high gear only direct drive but the clutch is where it's all at there are multi plates progressive clutch let's feed the power to the rear wheels like a hill start pretty much there Rob it's interesting thing there with the rear slicks you talk about your street car you get about 50,000 kilometers on a pair of tires top of your drive see you get three or four kilometers that's about ten passes it's an expensive sport but it is the fastest accelerating sport in the world it's the only tire in the world rated to 500 kilometers per hour they're that big foot gear slick on Phil Reed strikes tough Damien Harris can he get into the 370 [Music] oh gosh like again it's a pedal finish gonna get there it's about the 20 points here our build rate gets the win guys six point three three seconds 256 kilometers per hour but I think they've underestimated this track here the top of your drags it's still got a bitter bite definitely looks like that track is tight matt is down there with a Rochelle splat yeah we're gonna show him I probably wasn't your weekend last year you did a great job getting through the finals this year not quite the luck you had last time you know things have been just sort of getting at it this weekend but guys have done an amazing job my crew have worked so hard we've turned this car round three rounds in a row done a fantastic job we haven't been out racing for 11 months so you know they've just come out and done you know a great job with the car obviously it's just little things like the blow about had ty shake then dropped a cylinder on that first run which made a little bit flow so it's just been little things that have got to us it's all fixable we cannot you know work on the data that we've got now we've been out racing and you know just move forward and do better but you know I just like to thank golf wits and oil for making it possible for us to be here I'd be able to do what we love and and you know turn this car around and learn and and get a grip on it and obviously we'll leave this race and you know just look at everything and hopefully do better next summer out so but we're still happy we've had a great time we've loved being here and we're happy - yeah Rochelle very popular in the pits that is for sure with the fans now that shot that that just showed it they were just trying to rotate the earth and the tires they just went out around and the vibration starts the tire shake the driver gets rattled like you're inside of washing machine once that five say that there's our driver physically can't keep his foot on the throttle and you think about the shape through that Jersey through the engine good thinking Cardinal the drivers have to live get back on it set all the dragster down and fury did enough there to get the win well there's a red team and it's all about the fact I got the 20 points yeah you're right Rob 20 points is 20 points and Phil read you another 20 to go in the bank that's like I could hear him paddle I know that I are giving them a stem my brother's probably up there screaming but you know but hats off to my guys that make the tracks tight like for any other crew chiefs watching give it some because it shook but yeah hats off to McDonald's you know all my other great sponsors proved from premiere he can't race this weekend but you know he supplies with some great year and yeah Norfolk engines have all confirmed what we were speculating about that that start line has got more traction expected haven't tried 1/2 horsepower added in that first sort of 3040 meters of the racetrack and we spoke about that at the beginning of this session as well and there's a fine line you don't know exactly what the track conditions aren t you get on that actual surface so they'd be happy to get another pipe later on this evening if there was another and racing because they've got data yeah but it's about what you can do right now and what we can do next part well here's the calamity 'no cooks lubricants car with Kelly Betts behind the wheel this team knows that regardless Wayne Newby is going to leave here in the lead of the championship Kelly can lose that lead so important to her to get a win here against Darren Morgan just to keep that gap tight going into the golf Western or whether Nationals that willow back Raceway in June well the one advantage they've got in the 3rd carrying out after those first two hearings they have seen what the cars in front of them have done they can make some minor adjustments here after leaving the pits to the style and usually o'clock timing adjustments give it a bit more timing on the head a bit more power but that's pretty much all they can do right now so I'll try and get this car down the style off the start line Erin Hambridge walks away the crew chief for lamb Athena's Kelly Betts goes into pre-staged Darin Morgan goes in beside her he won't want to be hole shot twice by this reigning champion keep an eye on the start line will they get it right Latinas did Kelly bets 385 508 kilometres an hour I think Morgan's to come to that dreaded shake but Kelly bets grabs another 20 championship points and that's their quickest cost of the weekend as well it happens here in round 3 HC keeps a championship points ticking over is it enough to leave this event number one we'll find out soon but well we you can see the shaking Morgan's car they're telling their streets away in the car King strokes that gets a win well Phil Loma Tina he'll be happy with three wins from three starts but it would have been a lot happier with a trophy as well absolutely that really puts the pressure I guess back on way newbie who's up next to win this race Phil imitating team owner for Kelly Betts that keeps you in front for now depending on what happens with this next round yeah look last round we dropped the cylinder on the step which is quite unusual so we just didn't really change anything and the track conditions obviously it's tightened up a little bit but it's quite cold so it's really good job by Aaron to get the car down the racetrack and Kelly's doing a fantastic job and we'll just see what happened tonight what'd I say before episode is tough customers and they're not going to go down without a fight that's for sure on to the Widders from now yeah Kelly wouldn't know that to the 20 points you get yourself around three where it's not when you go to a race meet win three rounds and don't go to the final that's a great result you just said we ran in 85 so least we threw a bit of a number down there and hey we got the three wins we've got the max points that we could have got so now let's see the result of this final hopefully for our benefit hopefully Ashley wins yeah I'll still great to see a smile on your face and we'll see it winter nationals yeah and look at her be awesome to see Wayne winter but obviously championship wise yeah we need her to win so Kelly branch has just become a rather large Ashley Sanford fan because if this young American can break through and get her first Top Fuel championship event win it will make the final round of the championship up at the Gulf West all winter Nationals in June just so tight between this man Wayne Newby for Titan cranes and Atlantic oil Santos cranes and of course the fact that Kelly Betts is got three wins from three starts that puts the pressure on newbie market that it does I'll give you a little stat Rob actually Sanford has been in more finals than any other race of this season so far in soft deal cheese this is a third final for the season two runner-up so far looking for that first event victory that you just touched on Wayne Newby is looking to get his second win of the season here beside actually Sanford track conditions come into it here we have seen six cars down the racetrack five of them had tire shake it was only the lamb athena's with kelly bets on board that managed to get it to the other engine 3.8 seconds who's got the right tune up in here is it Rob capadino for Ashley Sanford is it Santino rapper sauna for Wayne Newby whatever what we do know is it will be another win for Santo Rock asada in this awesome team that underestimate this track Wayne newbie just went eight to nine to the 60-foot they overpowered the racetrack on both sides there's something we hadn't seen previously in my nuba gets the win watch the front shots here you can see the smoke of the ties pedal pedal pedal I believe it'll winds are weird and it comes with a championship lead yeah I knew it wasn't a pretty run but eight 20s into the western or winter nationals so any of those that are within seventy seven points of the leader can win the title that's going to all come down to this the golf Western oil winter Nationals at Willowbank Raceway sixth to ninth of June if you anywhere where you can get trackside it's going to be an amazing race well what a race in Top Fuel of golf Western oil nitrate under here in Sydney
