Top 8 Best Base Locations in Sons of The Forest

hello guys and welcome back to another sons of the Forest video guide today we're going to be talking about the best spots to be building your bases in Sun to the forest and uh well this isn't one of them but it's a cool place to build um actually there's one really close like literally below us that we'll talk about shortly but we're going to go through a handful of them and if you do like this video if you find it helpful please do hit the thumbs up the first one that we're going to be talking about is by far the safest one on land and to find it we're going to go to the far south east island of the map so if we go to the map here and we zoom out um all of the where we start is generally speaking on the left hand side the west side of the island if you go to the far south and then to the east you'll find this section of the map here and it is phenomenal the only thing that's connected fixing this big island with the mainland is that small patch of land over there and as you can see it really isn't that much at all you have to worry about going out to here and then across to this side the reason why we're doing this in Winter by the way I know it's not the the best weather for viewing but it's specifically so that you can see the areas that are frozen because a lot of people have suggested one area in particular which is actually this one which has this lovely little island in the center and people are recommending this as the best one now it is a good base spot don't get me wrong but during winter there is nothing that can stop a cannibal from walking across the ice to your lovely little build unless you build a wall around the outside but that's well kind of defeats the eye the the point of putting it on an island but I'm losing track we'll come back to this spot in a little bit to talk about it because it is a relatively good spot but back to this spot here we have a small land bridge that connects the island to the main land I guess we'd say and more importantly we're going to head down here now but if I open up the map again you'll notice that across from here we have a little bit of water which is perfect for if you want to drink of course with it being a little Pond it does freeze up over winter but the hope is that within the next few updates we will have rain collectors which will allow us to store still water at our base anyway but more importantly on this little island here you can find plenty of wood we have the water but we also have Wildlife around here as well you can kill some game or there is also if we go to the Sea obviously fish and turtles there is one thing that I am a bit cautious of before I say this is a fantastic spot and that is because I don't know how spawning Works in this if we place a wall all the way over on the land bridge over there we may find that there are still enemies spawning within the island so the other option with this spot is this particular Little Island here again it has another little land bridge there's plenty of trees to get the wood to your base and you can just defend this one spot and again with this being just an outcrop from this little island namely is it easy to defend but it also has plenty of fish around and turtles and the water isn't too far away to grab should we need it now there are a couple of reasons why it's not the best spot and the first thing is you don't have a crash site or any Scavenging spots nearby which have plenty of medicine ammunition and food available which can really help you when you're just getting started or even trying to survive against larger groups of enemies is there any Caps or anything nearby at the moment there is a road that's running through it so I presume eventually as they update the game this will be updated and they'll probably be more enemies around so it may not be as safe later on anyway for these second spot I would recommend is actually the crash site on the Mountainside the reason for this is you have water running through you also have fish that's usually yeah fish here plenty of plenty of goodness me what why are there so many fish here there I don't think I've seen so many in the game Point proven tons of fish you also have the crash site nearby so you've got weapons medication extra food whenever you need it there's running water constantly So you you're never going to run out of drinking water the only downside really is that you have to defend this from enemies and really what you're going to want to do is a wool from this side across to the other side to give you some kind of Defense I'm actually going to do a video on creating a defensive guide for your bases so if you are interested in checking that out do make sure to subscribe I'm hoping to get that up within the next few days the other Pro to this is there is plenty of space around so you've got extra space to extend into should you wish to there are a few um issues with this first off it's pretty far to go I didn't mention that with the last site as well pretty far to go if you want to go to any of the GPS locations it's it's not well situated centrally and the other one with this more so than others is that it's going to be winter all the time so you're looking at having to keep yourself warm though that doesn't seem to be too much of an issue at the moment if we run up here there is another location that no doubt song will mention in the comments section which is this location here and it's it's all right in terms of resources you've got plenty about you've got some cat food here if you need it there's running water and then you have this little cave this little cave pretty good I mean you've got space enough to have a little fire in any bed and drying racks that you may want but there is a big issue with this which people don't seem to realize which is this is your only entrance and exit now it's all well and good defending from one spot but once you run out of ammunition you may be in a little bit of a problem so I wouldn't recommend building here simply due to that and like I mentioned at the start we have another spot here it's not actually on top of the waterfall though you can use that I would recommend that you place your base down here this is probably the best place and I'm going to show you why right in the center there where that little rock is there is a bit of shallow land which allows you to build quite easily in that location and even better yet it is surrounded by deep water that doesn't freeze during winter however it is fresh water so you can drink it there is a fish nearby you have plenty of food and wood there's Scavenging sites relatively close so you have up at the top plenty of rope and cloth and there's a few bones there's a few meds over in that section there and then the rest is quite far so you're gonna struggle to find ammunition but when none of the enemies get close to you there's not really a problem with ammunition so this is a fantastic base to build in a fantastic swamp possibly the best and the place that I'm going to be building in my let's play series when we get a little further along in it so if you do want to check out what I do with this do check out my let's play series we released the first one yesterday and I'd love you to check it out and tell me what you think about it there is one downside to this though and that is once again it's pretty far from any of the crash sites and obviously the that's the closest GPS um so pretty far from everything else but I think all things considered we're pretty lucky even with all of the little roads leading up to here you'll be safe yeah I'm liking this one location that comes up quite often is the Seaside area now the Seaside area is pretty yeah I mean it's it's pretty mad I'll be honest the great thing is obviously you have the ocean so you have a natural barrier there if you can build your your bases there but it's quite difficult to to build out to it however it does have Scavenging spots for example the beach that's on the west coast has this Scavenging spot here but there's also the dinghy that you can go across to with relative ease and pick up some more items as well so this is an all right location you've got plenty of woods that you can knock down the only problem is that it's a bit far out and you also have to collect water at the moment but again if we get rain collectors or water collectors that's going to be fantastic rather than just using the flask also along with the Scavenging spots you do have access to turtles in this area but there's also Plenty of Fish out here as well just be be aware of the Sharks if you crash land on this beach it's a pretty good spot as well you've got a natural defensive location with that small land bridge and you can also build into the water and along with the crash site you also have access to some food and rope here as well as drinks you also have a little well quite a big cave over there and in the opening there's a few supplys that you can grab and then you also have just a cross from here there you'll have to run around unless you want to go toe-to-toe with sharks the machete location which has various items as well so this is pretty good for resources but again it's quite far from the other areas so you may want to use the zip line to get from one place to another as quickly as possible and safely adjust across from the waterfall area that I recommended a moment ago which you can see is at the um House icon in front of us there is this one here at the I guess the Fang the Fang Lake I'm gonna call it now the great thing about this is that we firstly have a helicopter site just across here so there are there is ammunition available you have the running stream from here which means that you have access to fresh water and then there's obviously food easily available from hunting in the forest but this particular Cliff side is a pretty good spot providing you wool off this area and then wall off the opposite end you've got a fair amount of space that is relatively safe from enemies so this may be one that interests you and now we return to this island location which so many people recommend it's in the North Western section of the map and flows down towards the sea the great thing about this is the little island in the middle but it is a bit of a pain in the summer months or spring autumn to get the wood across if you haven't got the Rope gun it's going to be even more of a pain because you only have a little bit of wood available on the island so you'll end up having to build a bridge across festival and then from there build a base by which point it's winter and all of the cannibals are running across but if you don't mind dealing with that then this isn't bad you have a location that has space to build in on the island you're not going to struggle building in deeper water there's also just north of here once you've unlocked the shovel a bunker which you can enter which has plenty of food and water in so that is pretty good in itself and then once you unlock the area then there's even more stuff so this can make a really good mid game base if you want a little Outpost somewhere of course the the big problem with this is that during winter this all freezes over so you're going to need to fully defend this like you would a normal land base so the only thing that you gain by building here in the spring to autumnances that you have a bit of more time to build here before getting attacked by cannibals because they won't swim across so it's an all right place to be honest but if we could choose anywhere I would much rather go with the Lake where my floating house is which is just south of us let's head there now this particular area which is south of that Lake uh in this little I don't know Lake where all the water pulls in and then then leaves through the North East stream is so well located on the map you have plenty of caves that are nearby you have a GPS location nearby which has the 3D printer and then once you unlock that you've got so much stuff in there there's also easy access to the Sea you just need to follow down the stream and you'll end up there so this is really well located you'll also find that in this particular part of the forest just in front of me there's plenty of herbs available to create energy mixes or the health mixes or Health Plus mixes a really good spot just in general however we can't really easily defend against the enemies here except for when you build on this and in which case you're in the same situation as the island that we were just at however what you can do is build a tree house here one thing that I would recommend by the way if you are going down the Treehouse method I highly recommend taking my approach to building the tree house I'll put a link in the cards above as to how I build this but there's plenty of space up there for you to do whatever you want you don't have to live off one of those tiny platforms only downsiders that Kelvin and Virginia can't access at least for the time being the upper levels of the Treehouse they're
